I love me some Hank, I tell ya whut. Mike Judge's major faux pas was making the Hills Methodist. Are there even Methodist churches IN Texas? Or is Arlen a suburb of Austin? 😁
You missed the greatest TV dad -Andy Taylor of Mayberry. He made sure Opie went to All Souls Church (most likely an independent evangelical church: not quite Baptist or Methodist) every Sunday with him and Aunt Bee. Andy taught Sunday school to the boys, Miss Crump taught the girls. Gomer sang the solo during the service. Afterward, Andy went home and honored the Sabbath by relaxing on his porch, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with his guitar while Opie and Barney and whoever was invited to join them at table waited on Aunt Bee’s pot roast or fried chicken to be ready for an early supper.😊
1:29 Considering that I'm a Presbyterian and the fact that we love the Lutherans more than they love us, this resonates quite a bit. Hilarious comparison lol
And knowing the history of Germany/Prussia, that was definitely a horrible marriage between the Reformed and the Lutherans. What contest in hell indeed! :)
I got into an argument with my youth minister a long time ago when I said Hank Hill was a good dad. Ironically, that guy would have agreed with Hank in this clip
The ending was spot-on. It's disgraceful the Church's response to a now proven government lie (and obvious at the time) and yet a large majority of the church body followed along like cowards. Fortunately I found a church who fears God and follows the Bible more than government and left my previous Sunday social group ( I won't call them a church) behind.
