I’m so glad I don’t work there anymore. Also I used to hate sharing a room with someone when they put us in that Luna lounge.
Hope you have found what works for you!
The Luna jaja bro keep ur head up stay away from those negative ppl
Thanks men I will start this Sunday
Awesome!!!! Are you going to the CDL school on the yard in Dallas?
I don't miss any of the Luna lodge, the company was ok
Yeah, it's not a 5 star establishment, but I haven't had any major complaints, besides roommates at times, but that isn't the company's fault.
@@fpstrucking yeah it's owned by Steven's but the place is ran by someone else,he's a good guy tho.
There was one person I know of that had an issue, and once the contact was called, it was resolved immediately. They seem like they care to do a good job.
After completing my 240 hours back in June I came back to the luna and someone had got shot there lmfao, good times.
I've definitely heard some stories about that place.😄
I don’t miss the luna lol or being on the yard 😂
I don't mind the yard as much as a lot of people, (the daily food trucks probably have something to do either that....lol).
I definitely don't miss the Luna, but when I drove for Stevens. I hated it when I had to come back to the yard even if it was just to get my truck worked on, take a 10 hour break, or a 34 hour reset. It was a pain the butt just to get every thing on your yard clearance sheet done just to leave.
Good luck
Was the pre trip inspection hard. What the passing percentage of people taking it. Do they help you Thru it. Thanks again
I didn't think it was too hard, it is just memorizing the wording for each category of item. Hoses, (no cuts, bulges or leaks) rubber, (not damaged, cracked or, dry rotted) lights, (properly mounted and secure, no missing parts, not cracked or damaged, and amber/white/clear/red in color).
Probably half pass the first time through, but you get a second and third try. (Unless they feel you aren't trying at all). Most pass by the second time.
Eyy my room number was one below you.. 214 lol
Knowing what you know now would you recommend going through stevens or getting a cdl through a class. It’s either stevens, something similar or paying to get my cdl and looking for local work. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Stevens is 3 yrs lol
Not sure what you mean....as Stevens Transport is over 40yrs in the business 🤔
I would suggest through Stevens Transport, many (not all) but many local jobs will not give you enough training time to really become a safe driver before having you go solo.
@@fpstrucking I said Stevens is three years. Meaning you have to work for them for three years for them to pay the schooling.
I would not suggest you go through Stevens you have to do a three-year commitment for them to pay it off. If which is the shortest time I’m aware of.
once you start the program at lonestar when will you take your dot physical? is it at the beginning or near the end of the program?
At the beginning....before day one. They don't want to spend time if that isn't passed yet, would be a waste of a spot.
Also, can't get your CLP to even drive without it anyway.
@@fpstrucking okay thats good to know. i got approved today. they even asked if i can start next week but i told them i need a few weeks. that way i have some time to clean my system 🤣 but im schedule to start on the 18. they are very flexible and want me to check in every friday to make sure im still going for it.
@watermelonsprite1497 yep, Friday checking are important, as they need to know how many trainers ready 3 weeks later as well, for right after orientation. Knowing a fairly accurate count, even well ahead helps plan.
What if you come with new dot physical card 🤔 do they make take a physical again 🤔 is they into making money off sleep study bs?
So when did you have to use your social security card ? Cause im waiting on mines to come in and I wonder how long I can go without having to show them my card
I'm not positive on what day it was, but it was during the 4 day orientation in Dallas.
Is Stevens region or OTR? What is the home time for most drivers?
The expectation is 1 day for every week out, 3 day off minimum, on average.
What are the hrs for lone star College? Do they offer weekends classes?
The paid side has weekend only classes, but the Stevens sponsored side is all week long. My hours were 7am till 3pm 5 days a week, but I think they've altered it to 6 to 2pm (I'm not 100% on that). Charles Wages would be they guy to contact about specific hours. (713) 213-2841.
When do they do the hair follicle test
No hair follicle test.
Reply back bro I know u see my comments. But did u get paid during the 4 weeks of school or only when u went and drove with your trainer
An how hard was that testing during the 4 weeks of school
I had not seen your comments, as I have recently been on hometime, and turn off my business phone that handles all my accounts.
No during the 3 weeks of getting my cdl, I was not paid. Pay starts when you have a cdl in hand, and are ready to get a trainer, even if it is a few days before a trainer picks you up, you still get paid at that point.
The testing was not hard to me, although a few of my classmates had to test a second time, in order to pass. Some become nervous and make dumb mistakes. All passed by second round.
What tests does grad drivers have to take ?
They are not really pass/fail tests. They are just general driving test to see if you have the general idea of what you are doing. It's not like a specific things you must do, more of an observing of your driving manuvers to make sure you appear comfortable.
How long before you got drug tested? Got a friend just came off medical MJ.
You get tested right away to get hired.
@@fpstrucking after you travel to orientation or before you get your offer?
What did do day 1 orientation?
Mostly videos and paperwork.
What if you got your cdl from another school not through them will you still need to do their whole course even if you already got a cdl with no experience over the road
For Stevens Transport? No, just the 4 day orientation, before you got on a truck. They can also do some tuition reimbursement.
Thank you I was only asking because the school I went to I only did 80 hrs and I know Stevens requirements 120 hours courses I just didn’t know if they would make me take the class over again or finish make the rest of the hours
Don't talk there hr department..they will cuss you out for your trainer threatening to kill you for wanting to throw away his 15 bottles of piss on his nasty truck..also dude never took a shower once in 2 weeks or changed his clothes..also they will short your paycheck!!!! And yell at you for asking why your paycheck is short...good luck with Stevens..and yes a few people have been shot outside the wonderful Luna Lodge..
I know several students who switched trainers, no issues. I have talked with HR on several occasions, no issues. 7 paychecks so far no issues. I'm sorry you apparently had a bad experience, but have not seen anything like that, or have any classmates that have been treated such by Stevens Transport.
How did the out of pocket expenses work bro? When did they start making y’all pay the $222 for the registration fee and the permit etc
The permit and CDL are paid at the DMV, when getting them. If I remember correctly, the the registration fee was first day, not 100% positive.
Do they drug test and do the physical test on day 1?
Your physical will be done before going to get your CPL, as you have to pass that before getting behind the wheel even as a student
Did you go through Stevens to enroll or through Lonestar ?
It's a sponsored program through Stevens at LoneStar. Talk to Charles Wages. Text 7one3 two one threee 27four1 and give your name and that "Papa Smurf " sent you, and he'll give you a call back.
@@fpstrucking Charles a pretty cool guy I’m on week 2 training otr
Stevens offered me to start at $.50 per mile, with $1,000 per week guaranteed as a new driver. Does that sound legit?
Yes, that's the company rate starting out right now. It's what I was getting my last month as company driver.
@@fpstrucking thanks for the reply.
@@fpstrucking can you tell me if the company estimate of 2800-3000 miles per week is accurate?
@@troydrury12 Yes, you can definitely do those miles regularly. Not every driver does, I average between 2500 and 2800. Things like running really tight schedule for three days, so you can drop the load 12 hrs early, help get those extra miles, but many drivers (like myself) find it more enjoyable to free up that three day schedule a bit, and not have to worry about counting every second of the clock. But definitely easily doable, just more stress, since any lost minutes are more precious.
@@fpstrucking thanks for the reply, and for all the great info on your channel.
Aye bro I'm out of Houston do we train in Houston or go where your at
You can choose either to go to the Dallas yard to train, or stay at home, and go through the Lone Star College CDL program in Spring, TX. I went through the Lone Star College program, and loved being able to stay home for the extra 3 weeks.
@@fpstrucking Yea I'm with you on that one
Have you got in contact with Charles yet? He's the Stevens representative at Lone Star College?
I was at luna...the old lady is rude😂
I do know they have to put up with a lot of crap......so......IDK
Urine and hair or just urine test
I had just a urine test. I got sent a week before starting my classes at Lone Star College.
Do U need cdl permit before joining the school academy??
No, but it is not hard to get the permit solo either, IMO. I scheduled my own appointment with the DPS, and had my permit before going to class, one reason for doing that is so that if I failed a test for the permit, I would still be able to take it a second time in the school and not be held back, as it would now be my second try.
I’m at the southeast Houston area where would I train? I saw you mention Lone Star college and that’s the other side of the city
The CDL school is in Spring, just north of Houston. That is where the classes would take place. If getting/driving to classes on a daily basis would be to difficult for the 3 weeks, the other option is to go train at the Dallas yard. They would put you up at a hotel while you train and get your CDL right there on the yard.
@@fpstrucking Do they pay while they train?
@@NikephorosCaesar While training for the CDL, no. Once you get your CDL and are on the trainers truck, yes.
How long are you on truck with trainer
Did you get your cdls through them
I sure did! Out of Lone Star College in Houston.
Ok thanks I’ll be watching your journey keep the videos coming
They pay for orientations or only when you start getting training?
Talked to the travel rep for Stevens, orientation is not paid for.
Last day of orientation is typically your first paid day, and every day after that, even if you don't get a trainer immediately.
Currently at Stevens, truck broke down and not getting paid for sitting time. It's almost a week since the truck broke down and no one called to check and see if I'm ok. Steven's is a sitting company and try to wo4k you like a slave.
Y are you not getting break down pay?
I had broke down 13 times within 9 months with truck/apu issues and and trailer no breakdown pay or not miles I paid my stuff off and left driver managers were a joke broken promises will not work for them again hope your experience is better than mine
@@dmallen350 yikes, sorry to hear for sure. When was this, if you don't mind my asking?
@@fpstrucking I quit in the end May of this year I started last August with them
If you want to know more what they did then send me a message
Do they hair follicle test or urine ?
Urinalysis.
