This is an awesome spot to stop and check out this relic from a former time when Rt 66 was a epic road journey.
Great information
Where the training location at
Dallas on our own yard.
Really? Anything for a click, right? 👎
Yeah, I know, a bit of click bait....I don't do it that often, but once in a while......
Thanks for the tip!
I failed my road test at DPS on standard. Debating whether to keep practicing on standard truck at the school or just switch to automatic 😕
Sorry to hear,....there are plenty of jobs using automatic only, as most larger and even many smaller carriers only use autos. You definitely won't have a problem finding jobs with an auto restriction, but it is possible a "dream job" scenario pops up someday, and you wouldn't be able to take it......you can always go back and learn, although, like anything in life "I can do it later" often never happens.....lol
@@fpstrucking right that was my thought when going for the no restrictions. And the “do it later” part hahaha
Yeah, definitely not an easy decision. If you KNEW the school would give you 2 more testings, I would say take it standard one more time, as by then, you for sure would have all the rest down pat. Then if not, passing on an automatic would be simple.
Do you think it’s worth it to become a contractor. I’ve been grad for almost 90 days and the recruiters have been calling non stop saying I qualify and want to get me scheduled for class. If you’re not interested in training could you make more money as contractor rather than company driver?
Yes, you can make more money, I do, and I definitely do not train. It is definitely more work though, as you are your own boss. The responsibility of the truck repair falls on the contractor, so that weights differently on everyone. Say your first week out, a tire goes bad on your tractor....5-800 dollars.....that effects everyone differently....in the long run you will make it up, but if you planned on having XYZ on your check, it will be less now. They will let you pay say, 100 a week for 7 weeks (however much it costs), so you might not be out the entire money on one check if you don't want too, but mentally that effects everyone differently. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
In my opinion, run 3 months out of Grad first. You are still getting a handle on the job, 3 months post-grad, you will have more consistent checks to compare to as well.
@fpstrucking what are you averaging a week? You need to be averaging like 2200 per week for it to be more money after taxes and incidentals like tires in my opinion
When you first start the 4 day orientation and then go out with a trainer when do you get to go back home before heading out solo
Yes, first load for a solo driver always takes them home
Once you go for the 4 day orientation and get done with that and go with a trainer. Once you get your own truck do you get to go home before headed back out on the road?
Yes, first load always takes a driver home for hometime!
How much can i make a week avg as co driver after taxes plz. Im in dallas and thinking about going stevens school.
We have many company drivers making 70k+ a year. Everyone's taxes are different, so not sure on that......
@fpstrucking ok well I was hoping for 1k+ a week after taxes. Congrats on views for this vid.
What state is this in came I’m from Wa state
We hire from all 48 states (except California). We do training either at our home terminal in Dallas, or with a number of training CDL schools around the nation. If you give Charles Wages a call, he can better direct you. Seven13 2onethree 27four1
@@fpstrucking so they pay for your school ?? And they pay u as you go to school?
They front the schooling, as many driving companies do, as a 1 yr contract deal. You don't get paid during the 3 weeks of CDL schooling, but the OTR training that starts right after graduation is paid $700 a week i believe, and 1k guarantee per week, once you get your own truck and go solo.
Do you still work for Stevens
Yes! 3 years this month and loving it!
Hook, line & sinker with that title 😂 🎣
Hahaha.......I figured....lol
Don't do that to me dawg !!! I was about to be mad/sad as heckin HEAK !
Baited!!! Lol.....
@@fpstrucking Ya got me 😵
Scared me. I was hoping you meant you just misplaced it. Disaster sad day averted. 😊
Yeah, just a bit of click bait.....I don't do much of it, but figured of any time, this was the one.....lol
What happened?
Must have left/dropped my license somewhere. Either that, or I will eventually find it hidden somewhere
time is now 3:33:33 - prepare to be prepared. It's simply just a choice
Good numbers in the Am & the night prior💪 Keep pushing! Commissioned a graphic designer…. For merch?😁 Looking forward to it!
I D K.........have to wait and see...😁😁😁
Papa Smurf, passed my cdl test yesterday, start at Steven’s on the 13th, hope to see ya out there sometime
Congratulations!!! Definitely look forward to meeting you out in the road!
The altitude might have helped slow you down too... Isn't it like 5500 ft there?
I believe closer to 7,000 yeah.
Right at 5:07 mins... The wizard of oz came to mind...😂
Passed my 2nd week pre trip and backing with a 98.6 overall papa Smurf!!!!final 3rd week starts tomorrow.
Awesome!!! Great job!
That’s totally appropriate behavior for Wally World😂 Cool lights👍 Good numbers, keep pushing!💪🙏
The way to be confident, is to occasionally go so far overboard, as to loose all semblance of "proper". Then nothing is embarrassing after that.
@@fpstrucking gotcha, cringe = freedom from social norms 😂 👌 👏
Yep! Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can't hurt a weirdoooo!!!
@@fpstrucking yea well that’s always been my motto👍😂
Yea, wise decision I’d say. Good numbers 👍 Jax is my neck of the woods - might be a little windy here with Helene visiting to the West.
Yeah, I'm out and gone from there before that ....lol
@@fpstrucking 😁👍

Wise words. This reminds me of one of the smart phrases from the Godfather movies of: "Never let them see what you're thinking". Unfortunately there's a lot of people that just can't help show what they're thinking and in this case, being negative towards a gift. I can remember back in bootcamp they gave us a 2hr break to throw us a BarBQ on a hot basketball court no chairs or tables, no shade just hotdogs and chips but I was grateful for the gesture AND just having a 2hr break away from the crap of bootcamp was heaven for me. You said those Xmas bonuses weren't required. They didn't have to give out anything but it's come to be traditionally expected at jobs everywhere. Sounds like these people got a bit too complacent and took the company for granted. This exact same thing happened at a hospital I worked at, so been there done that and yes lots of bitchin and moaning over what we all got last year lol. Even the extravagant Xmas dinner held in a gigantic tent in the parking lot was reduced to being served in the cafeteria. They had to make cutbacks for whatever reason but lots of workers never took that into consideration while loudly pontificating their displeasure. Good video my man! 👍
Praying for cool race weather 🏃♂️🙏
Thanks! Me too
Looking healthier 😊 Keep it up 👍
Thanks! I plan to...I definitely feel better as well
😊👍

Dude I am figna buy ebikes for me and the hubs.. That looks so fun to scoot around!

@@fpstrucking accidental bags for sure. But... I hope to do good stuff like sponsor and donate ultralight stuff 🌈

@@fpstrucking truer words have never been spoken brother
Hey papa Smurf, any pre trip tips I need to know about for 2nd week of yard training, other than just the 108 point inspection?
Audio record YOURSELF going through the pretrip, and then play it back to yourself, 24/7. Leave pauses between each part/description so you can "beat " your own voice to the next part/description. And then just repetition
Same with airbrake test You don't need to practice pulling knows etc....once you have the order that memorized, when you think/say I chock my tires, you know to get out and do that, you don't need to practice that in your head.
@@fpstrucking cool, thanks for the heads up, will do exactly that bro 😎
I did that, had hoped to get the whole truck, and then aced it. Good luck! Definitely let me know how it works!
@@fpstrucking will do brother
😊👍
😊👍As the preparation continues for the BackYard Ultra....in today's episode, we are shown three clues of a future Papa Smurf adventure. Clue 1: The appearance of a guitar, often called a Backpacker Guitar. Clue 2: Papa Smurf playing, "This is My Father's World" on the guitar. Clue 3: "Fixing your Feet" book for runners, walkers, and hikers.
God moves in mysterious ways, where he leads, .....well......let's just say I prefer fish I'm my belly to the reverse....
@@fpstrucking Indeed! Many lessons for all of us in the book of Jonah. God Bless You, Papa Smurf!
Good numbers, way to keep at it! 💪
Thanks. Race day is fast approaching
@@fpstrucking Sure is! You got this!💪🤩
Thanks. One way or another, it will be a lifetime personal record for me.
@@fpstrucking That’s a win in itself right there, Brother. Happy for you!🏆💪✝️🙌
❤️💪🏾
Miss you bud!
I figured something like this happened. With you filming, editing, training, driving, sleeping and TRYING to maintain a good diet something had to give. Was a much needed time out from your 24/7 schedule. Glad ur OK and don't go beating yourself up over this tiny hiccup. Back to the grind young man! 😊
Yes. Definitely. Appreciate it.
Enjoyed the guitar segment 🎶 Welcome back, keep pushing 🏆 💪 🥾
thanks! I need to spend more time playing the guitar. i enjoy it, just dont make the time...lol
Welcome back Papa Smurf 👍👍👍
Thanks!
😊👍
Is it true after 60gl of fuel you get a free shower? And also how much are typical truck stop showers if no fill up is needed?
50 gal for most truck stops, and if you go over a certain gallons for the month, you get unlimited showers. Stevens Transport has a deal with Pilot Truckstops that after only one 50 gal fill-up we get unlimited showers all month. Otherwise showers are usually between 12-18 dollars
@@fpstrucking sweet 😎. I’ll be heading to Steven’s after 3 weeks of schooling in Tennessee
Heck yeah! Hopefully we will cross paths out here.
It get easy the more you do it.😮😅😂
Walk fast it’s better for you then running great job also 🎉🎉🎉. It comes from experience and 4 knee surgeries later
I appreciate it. I alternate between running/jogging and fast walking. I am running a Back Yard Ultra in November, 4 miles each lap, 1 lap each hour untill you can't any more.....my walking speed is currently like 3.8 max, so I have to run a bit, to keep the laps under the 1 hr limit.
Off to trucking school Monday morning, keep at it bro 😎
Heck yeah! Where at?

@@Berwickr81he’s been quite thorough with mine, no issues. I’m getting packed up as we speak now, yall have a great day!!!
I think you came there for the food
Lol.....I do love to eat...hahaha
Go Mariners practice test Maryland CDL practice test
Go Mariners practice test
Mater & Lightning😁 Gratz on 100k miles! 🛻 💪🏆👏
Pro: Its flat, quiet, not a lot of people, a visual detox from the insanely overpopulated cities across our contry.
You gotta eat, goober. Our bodies need fuel. Good job on the walking. Something I do in between showers for my hair is spray DRY SHAMPOO on it when needed. It focuses on the oil in the hair and helps it appear cleaner and smell better. But I think that has more of a feminine scent. They do have masculine smelling dry shampoos I do believe. Check it out! 👍🏼👍🏼
Sir, I'm not sure WHEN this video was taken, but you clean up very nice when you trim up that beard. Good job!!
Good for you. Keep it up. I know the weight is surely something we deal with in these trucks. Be encouraged.
