This is, by far, the best musical execution of both anthems...
Somehow I agree with you.
Agreed
Yep
Speaking of executions ... :D
Hey! ruclips.net/video/-JQ-MP116v8/видео.html
I'm surprised the North Koreans didn't sit down when the US anthem started playing
It's diplomacy. You should always stand for a countries' anthem even if it's your biggest enemy.
@Kiên Hoàng Et tu, Brute?
@@capncake8837 Then fall, Caesar!
that would have been an undisciplined move, they are trying to negotiate a treaty for their country. they did relax their posture and expressions though if you pay attention.
North korean are more civilized than many americans.
Don’t just those things social media or the press telling you
Playing the US anthem in Pyongyang?
_wait, that's illegal_
yes it is
Yeas .is true
I think they have special permission by Kim...
-The other way around would sound more likely.-
(Nvm I read the comment the wrong way)
@@blastromlifyedah Yeah, playing Pyongyang in US anthem doesn't sound too legal.
"Infinity wars is the most ambitious crossover movie"
Me, an intellectual:
The two played one after the other gave me serious chills... This may have taken place 7 years ago, but I hope that one day, this will be the way peace is brought between North Korea and the world. Not through war, but through art and emotion.
Nikki Duran
Yeah, but he has to clean up the food/health crisis and completely change his government ideology, which I doubt will happen anytime soon.
+The NovaBUS Fan. its hard for a leader to make his country stable especially when another greater country is pushing sanctions on you therefore stopping development and putting a stop to most of your accomplishments
I agree with your opinion
More like USA and the world
It’s funny, 4 years after this comment and a president has besides North Korea and Kim Jong Un has an invite to the White House.
This is one of the most "weird" and spectacular moments of my life! New York Philharmonics playing the North Korean national anthem in Pyongyang. Wow! Probably the one and only permance in Pyongyang where alsa the American national anthem was played. God bless the World!
The expressions of the North Koreans when the US anthem starts playing is solid gold.
A magnificent rendition of the North Korean National Anthem by Lorin Maazel and the New York Philharmonic. The silky strings and the rich, sonorous brass have imparted a regal feel to the anthem.
The look completely flipped out when the Star Spangled Banner is being played -- as if "I cannot believe I am standing here and this is happening".
It’s probably the first time any of them heard it...
They don't even know what that is. They have never heard it, I guess...
The look on the girl at @ 2:15 says it all.
Both extremely beautiful. Great Orchestra's performance. And what a incredibly respectful and polite audience. All the countries could live in peace, like that friendly moment in the video
Why on earth would this fade out before the final note?? Terrible edit!
Because they're anti-america
It also didn't have the very beginning of North Korea's Anthem. Maybe they were limited to 3 minutes?
The editing guy was obsessed with making it exactly 3:00
ruclips.net/video/h5j9mYwOxR8/видео.html
@@TheTrueJellyBean Actually, the very beginning part is not included in the anthem, but they sometimes add the starting part for some touches
Splendor for the whole orchestra. The national anthem oh the United States is so beautiful when I hear it my heart grows. Love from Chicago.
It is a good and beautiful scene to find two enemy nations meet as two peaceful friends for the first time. Even if you are North Korean or American, admit it, you both find it beautiful. Job well done! 😉
I would, but I know this would not happen unless the Nork govt. wanted it. The people would not be consulted.
If ordered, they would cheer a atomic bomb being dropped on SAN Francisco. Only look :
m.ruclips.net/video/xj1tmPyvOd0/видео.html
I don't need any ideology to tell both of these anthems are beautiful and amazing, thanks NY Philharmonics and great conductor Lorin Maazel ❤️
Who cares about the North Korean Government? This anthem is melodious and it's pleasant to hear everyday. The best tune for me is the violins at 1:15-1:18.
On the US Anthem side, the glorious part to hear the melody is in 2:37 until the end.
Love from the Philippines.
✌
Yeah who cares that thousands of people are killed in North Korea and freedom of speech and liberty is not a thing at all. Who cares that people are sent to prisons where there beaten, forced to work, starved, and killed from poor conditions because hey there anthem is "melodious" so that blocks out all the negative things
SUPER AGREE. Best part is the violins at that point.
May Mr. Maazel rest in peace. One of the best US musical conductors ever.
Yup!
The pretty girls there looked really pissed off when the USA anthem was played

The national anthem of YOUR ennemy
The American anthem (the words not the tune) was made after the battle of Baltimore during the war of 1812. A British fleet had sailed after setting Washington in fire in an attempt to take the city, but it was beaten back due to the death of its defenders, who similar to Epstein did not kill themselves
The Melody comes from a.. drinking song.
@@GumSkyloard and?
The tune is much older than 1812

USA Anthem was played in Pyongyang?!? In 2008??
Mhm. I was in South Korea when this concert went live. This concert will no doubt go down as one of the 21st century's historic performances.
Yessir
The NY Philharmonic performed there in 2008, playing a number of well-known classics. This was the first and probably last time a US ensemble would play there.
So nice to hear anthems played by full orchestras with glorious percussion and brass sections!!
An immortal work of classical music. National Anthem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Honor and glory to the great Korean maestro composer comrade Kim Wǒn-gyun. A beautiful, unique and majestic anthem!
thank you for your video
Whoa, North Korea's anthem is the most beautiful I've heard. Briljant performance and composition.
without any political stands, these are the 2 of the most beautiful anthem except that of USSR(Russia)
I agree
I don’t agree about “most beautiful”; imho DDR anthem was far better

I couldn’t agree more

Never forget the loss of the East German anthem...@@user0307
The great Lorin Maazel.
❤️ from Parma, Italy.
Probably the only time these two songs have been played back to back. But really, North Korea has a lovely anthem.
The North Korean hymn listens very much like an Alexandrov composition of the USSR era?
Schlipperschlopper yeah almost all the commie anthems were either done by him or inspired by his 1940s-50s anthems for the Soviet Union and it’s republics

The second part: 🤮
It's a great tune tho
If you live in America....... GET OUT!
This video has the best rendition of the national anthem (my opinion).
The us national anthem is so beautiful....I love it ( I’m from Chile 🇨🇱)
hearing our anthem made me get tears in my eyes......REALLY WONDERFUL ARRANGEMENT...
Fun fact: this is the version used in the KCTV sign ons
It's the first time i ears the north korean anthem and is so beautiful
A very beautiful national anthem regardless of the ideology.
The immortal idea of Juche shall enlighten the world
It's sad that the cameras in North Korea only go to 480p.
A South Korean broadcaster, MBC, actually trucked in HD equipment for this. At the orchestra's request, it was broadcast live on state television (and also aired live on MBC, CNN, CNNi and in China).
Its to push out their Subscription service so you can get it in hd full uncut etc.
this was in 2008 though
I'm watching in 144p anyway
It was 2008 so...
Ah, my beautiful country's national anthem. Thank God for the Red, White, and Blue.

I must say that the US anthem sounds very "strong" in this rendition. Not as "nimble" as the North Korean, and the NK anthem can be made very "strong" and bombastic. Was it a way to show force? The rest of this concert was majestic though.
I like both anthems

The national anthem of DPRK is absolutely a well-made anthem even it is made for a communist-country. I hope we one day will experience a United peninsula of Korea even the chance today is slim like a hairstraw...

It's glad to hear the USA anthem that doesn't sound like "oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh saycanyou seeeeeeeeeeeeeee bythedawn'ssssssss eaaaarrrrllly liiiiigggghhht" and props to these people for playing a great version of the North Korean anthem
Exactly.

DPRK anthem musically better than American
They not only allowed our National Anthem to be played very beautifully, but they also few our Flag the same level they flew their own. That deserves respect, this coming from a hardcore American Patriot.
Respect to North Korea.

Exactly. Ignorance is bliss. They're told that their country is the best in the world, and that they all live in Luxury. They're happy (as long as they don't break the rules), even if they're not treated well.

the NYP performance does not sound like a national anthem of the DPRK but as a movie soundtrack...what they lacked was the spirit of revolutionary ardour
So do the Norks. They do what they are told.

Congratulations for your national holiday on 4th July USA from your friends in Germany
that moment when north koreans are more respectful to the US anthem than americans
I'm sure this is the anthem on KCTV startup
No, it's actually one of the versions of the anthem. In fact, I think that the North Korean television orchestra ( I mean they have their own orchestra band) can play that version. And KCTV version was recorded before 2010. So in conclusion, the NY Philharmonic Orchestra's version is not a version of KCTV startup, like you think.
PS: I'm not a North Korean guy, but I found it by radio first.
@@huygia3771 anyone can tell you are not North Korean tho, they ain't allowed to access RUclips there

@@Baconnoodles It's not like that... The N.Koreans really believe their political economic system extends democracy to the n.korean working class/masses. As for their respect for the U.S. anthem, I'm sure they are educated enough to realize that the American Revolution was a breakaway from European Monarchy and a revolutionary new form of government. They just ask themselves if "Democracy" is really expanded to the working class/masses in America. They respect America's sense of Independence but question their sens of not allowing other nations that right.

The North Koreans showed more respect for our national anthem than a certain American "quarterback".

When the Americans went there to play for them I'm wondering if their movements was being monitored at all times the rooms were probably bugged by the government listening to everything you say but at least they're playing for them they're playing music for them but can you imagine you can't go you know somewhere without permission in Korea it's like when you're in Reno you can go somewhere for breakfast you can walk right down the street in Reno and decide on having breakfast somewhere but like I said I love learning about other people and how they live their lives thank you for showing this video
The North Koreans offered the philharmonic VIP treatement and bent to most of their requests- including live international coverage- something rare in the DPRK even for domestic audiences. The North was hoping that the concert could be used to set up meetings with the US which would improve relations, it was even hoped a high official like the Secretary of State would attend to meet with Kim Jong Il. However, the Bush administration was not interested and avoided anything that even vaguely cpuld be associated in Clinton's more cooperative approach and his "Agreed Framework".
How ironic. The media says North Korea is impoverished, has no electricity, outdated technology, and a very corrupt government. And at the same time they tell us that North Korea can fake a whole city, hire millions of fake actors, and run surveillance on every visitor in the country. Make up your goddamn mind.
@@koryoball 1) Not a lot of people get to visit North Korea and they all get in person escorts surveilling them. This really isn't too great of an expense. 2) They don't "fake" whole cities. Pyongyang is the only city which is somewhat decent and the people living there are all selected by the government. However a lot of places are "faked" as the propaganda machine considers the investment into making a few places run smooth for propaganda purposes good enough to invest money into that. Building a few good places is relatively cheap even for a poor nation. 3) They don't pay actors, they tell people and they obey under threat of repression. Thereby, the DPRK conducts activities which are easily possible in an impoverished autocracy.
🇰🇵🇺🇸♥️
All the Koreans seem super unphased by everything.
