The first woman said that the teachings of the foreign artist was similar to what she learned, that her professors are very good, the second lady i didn't find the translation
WHY would you leave your hotel in north korea to go running? WHY! Out of all the places to do your daily exercise routine you chose north korea!? FOOLS
Huffdaddy can you imagine 5 years after you written this that an american sitting president would be sucking russian cock ( putin) every lie he spews out putin pubic hairs fly out of his wrinkled orange mouth!
There's always plenty of heat / electricity / food in Pyongyang (especially for tourists). It's the rest of the country that leaves much to be desired.
Imagine playing an instrument with freezing (means very cold) hands.. This cannot sound good even if it sounds relatively good, because only warm hands can really be moved freely and easily. So, imagine it how beautiful the girl would have played the short exercise (starting after 19:00).. These are really talented musicians!
i AM SO PROUD OF THIS ORCHESTRA...AND I HAVE AN ACQUAINTANCE WHO IS PART OF THE BRASS SECTION. THIS WAS A GREAT CHOICE....AS MUSIC CAN BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER....AND I FEEL THIS CONCERT DID...BRING BOTH COUNTRIES TOGETHER IF ONLY IN GOOD FELLOWSHIP.
That woman who went out for a morning jog...why......how dumbbbbb of her. She's in an entirely new society. She thinks she's in New York or something. She doesn't know that when in "Rome, do as the Romans do." She should have conducted herself conservatively or at least ask permission.
She says that the smiles contradict reality but maybe they are happy...After all, only the privelidged in N.Korea get to take place in the arts. Therefore, I dont think thoses smiles contradicted their reality.
1. First violin girl who was taught by an American: "The lesson from him was just like a lesson here; nothing special" 2. Second girl in an interview with a South Korean journalist Journalist: "Have you heard of Juilliard School of Music in America? Do you want to have an opportunity to learn music from that school with many excellent teachers?" The girl in blue cloth: "No, it's okay, there are many excellent music teachers here too, so I don't need to go there"
Anyone noticed the 'Traffic Lady' starting from 17:00 ? She obviously noticed the camera, then smiled and tried to continue working - while she was just due to change guards. Very good shot btw. She is really beautiful, also in that uniform.
That's funny, the interpreter didn't know the word translation for "intonation" . It's also funny that everyone at morning rehearsal, from the audience to NK orchestra members all wore formal suit 'n tie and then comes the conductor w/o a tie.
did anyone else who can understand Korean realise that the girl who played cello got really offended when the reporter asked if she got the chance to study from a better university.
i m a 70 yr-old former nuke engineering prof with uc,berkeley. i m glad u think my square-headness is funny. but i m very serious about helping to bring peace to north korea within these couple years, that i v started in 2008. i cant talk to o'bum, but i m working my way up there thru my congresswoman, barbara lee of oakland, the head of black caucus and the "angel of peace in america for being the only one voted against both afghan and iraq war. thus far, she likes my idea and money, no act
Whoah! They rode in a Korean (Asiana) 747. Makes me wonder what the Northeners are thinking when they saw the S. Koreans having huge jets like these. And makes me wonder what are the South Korean FAs of Asiana thinking when they landed in NoKor.
they probably stayed in the plane for security reason, as well as the americans cell phones probably since they were banned from entering the country with the phones
Interesting that both girls interviewed talked about the quality and excellence of North Korea's indigenous music schools. This seems to be an example of juche ideology in practice.
They thought they could leave the hotel to go jogging! That's funny. They were in jail and didn't know it. Those North Korean ladies playing the string instruments looked so tired as if they had been practicing for days nonstop and without sleep. That was weird.
nah actually the rest of the country is not that bad. There's tons of fairly big cities like this all around the country although of course the capital is the biggest. Its not really that the rest of the country leaves much to be desired but there are some rural areas that are really quite bad. People don't have healthcare nearby, if there's floods or earthquakes its difficult to get help because the roads are bad etc. watch?v=9ZPw_LXus_A&list=PLA68B6C976CC4065D
Don’t be silly. Difference is that event was a pretend show. The North Korean audience barely even reacted when their wrestler beat Ric Flair. Instead of fake wrestling, this is an actual real concert with real music.
And.. for having access once to a lesson given by the NYP Orchestra staff like those master students in the Democratic Peoples Republic of North Korea have in the video, you and your parents must be members in the communist leaders party of course and have good reputation, and maybe have a functioneer position in the party...

The American musicians were so arrogant. What if someone from Vienna came to New York and told them how to play? The Americans assumed they were of course above the North Korean who gave their whole life to their music. And they talk about the North Koreans opening up. What about the Americans opening up. Pyongyang residents are happy, peaceful and love their country. They don't need their hearts opened. The theme of the whole video was "we're open and superior to you." I'm so ashamed.
To see two nations together with such unity, it's a very rare sight and I love it so much.
i wish there were translations for what the korean musicians were saying in their little interviews
The first woman said that the teachings of the foreign artist was similar to what she learned, that her professors are very good, the second lady i didn't find the translation
A bunch of Americans arriving in Pyongyang on an American-made Boeing 747 which carries the flag of South Korea! Mind blown.
WHY would you leave your hotel in north korea to go running? WHY! Out of all the places to do your daily exercise routine you chose north korea!? FOOLS
uhm, stay at my hotel and not go run? Are you fucking stupid? You are in North Korea, were still at war with them you tard.
The G-Man You know NOTHING about NK. Its a good place. Stop watching your CNN or South Korea resort videos!
Huffdaddy can you imagine 5 years after you written this that an american sitting president would be sucking russian cock ( putin) every lie he spews out putin pubic hairs fly out of his wrinkled orange mouth!
Lorin Maazel just passed away today. RIP.
Marxiavelli, it’s sad

Why is there no subtitles at 22:00?
1. First violin girl who was taught by an American: "The lesson from him was just like a lesson here; nothing special"

she was being watched by a guy behind her
they were being salty
The little runt behind was listening and watching the second musician, she was nervous, bless her.
Anyone noticed the 'Traffic Lady' starting from 17:00 ? She obviously noticed the camera, then smiled and tried to continue working - while she was just due to change guards. Very good shot btw. She is really beautiful, also in that uniform.
Still wonderful..I never will forget this concert.
Preciosa orquesta, maravillosa música. ..
I can't help but wonder what it was like for many of the Korean-Americans visiting North Korea with the NY Philharmonic.
That's funny, the interpreter didn't know the word translation for "intonation" . It's also funny that everyone at morning rehearsal, from the audience to NK orchestra members all wore formal suit 'n tie and then comes the conductor w/o a tie.
4:06 it's a south Korean airline in peyongyang
If you were to turn on CC's around the 20:00 mark your head might very well explode within the following 120 seconds. :O what is this even?!!
did anyone else who can understand Korean realise that the girl who played cello got really offended when the reporter asked if she got the chance to study from a better university.
Quite uncomfortable to say the least! The reporter should have done his research.
This was so wonderful first step…..
Thank you for sharing and doing a great performing
I saw sadness in the violin lady's eyes. Almost brought tears to my eyes. 😥
May freedom come their way some day soon.
10:35 Is that the future Mrs Kim Jong Un?
Great video thank you for sharing
Is that Ri Sol-Ju at 10:35?
I've compared a few photos to the girl in this video, and it looks close, but I don't think it's her. Both very beautiful though.

It's good to see there can be Peace between two nations that have some conflicts!!
Love and Light to ALL!! ❤
Technically, people don't hate each other. Politicians do. Americans vs North Koreans are no different than Democrats vs Republicans in the US.
I just notice that al ot of these children carry the same Mickey Mouse backpack
thank you for your video, we put this video again on our progamme, you will like it
09:08 Dear girl they don't have enough heat and electricity due to your homeland's embargo on North Korea since 1950 :)
12:30 do they really thought that north korean people only wear black and grey?!?!?!?!?
James, they did. Bush gave a speech professing they will not be a threat. Will not. This implies they are.
extraordinario video, ojala lo pueda conseguir completo...
I think we humans need good hearted and positive stories to build on. "Americans in Pyongyang" is such an example.
can i ask who you are if you can talk to obama lol? i like you. your funny

WCW ran a show in North Korea in the 90s which was much more impressive than this, over 90,000 people attended.
Don’t be silly. Difference is that event was a pretend show. The North Korean audience barely even reacted when their wrestler beat Ric Flair.
Instead of fake wrestling, this is an actual real concert with real music.
The people are polite organized cozy and clean
thank you for your video, read show more, this was in 2008 with the invitions of Kim jong Il
Expressing freedom in a country known for its lack of freedom... Tsk tsk. Madame, think before you act!
Other than that, I liked this documentary.
And.. for having access once to a lesson given by the NYP Orchestra staff like those master students in the Democratic Peoples Republic of North Korea have in the video, you and your parents must be members in the communist leaders party of course and have good reputation, and maybe have a functioneer position in the party...
Music is Universal
For a "Closed Society" North Korea looks pretty Open.

Mehta the orchestra’s indian manager: “I don’t know if a 747 has ever landed at that airport.” Did naked natives start circling the strange object?
They might be good musicians, but their comments show a lot of ignorance about both the country and life

Why do the Koreans look so God damn sad?

Why arrogant? They werent teaching pros but students how to play. It was propably even arranged by NK to just have them do some lessons together.
ㄷㄴ
Look how they love music .
The Kim dictators are cruel
Trump in Pyongyang.
Id just like to say that all the "North Korea is poor and has no Electricity" is bullshit, but I cannot say the same for the hunger problems.
LMAO
you know all these people advocate for "indigenous rights" but have a melt down when OTHER people extend it to a federal level
North Korea is a really beautiful place
