North Macedonia 2012 is so bizarre it's a big reason why I got into Eurovision I the first place
Spain 2008 is still the most memorable ESC act here, maybe only 2002 could be more popular at his time. Very few people abroad understood the (hilarious) lyrics and the performance. Months before every single person in Spain, no matter if they knew about Eurovision, could sing the "1, el brikindans; 2, el crusaíto; 3, el maikelyason; 4, el robocop". Moreover, Chikilicuatre had a better final position than lots and lots of "serious" enties like Barei, Soraya, ESDM, Alfred&Amaia, Manel...
PS: The character of Rodolfo Chikilicuatre comes from Argentina, but the actor "behind" him is David Fernández, a famous Spanish comedian, from Barcelona.

When you say that the Babushkas are "the best thing ever’ you basically poo-poos Eurovision. That this "song’ finished 2nd to Loreen marked Eurovision the joke it has become in certain places, including the UK.
