Genetic ethnicity does not meen nationality (which is a concept pretty much subjective and a social and historical construction), the ethnicity "greek and southern italian means basically all the ancient mediterranean populations of the southern part of those peninsulars (balkan and italian) and probably did not radically changed from massive migratory movements. Illyrian and Greeks where both ancient populations lived together for ages.
This video was actually shot in Copenhagen. Little did I know that these legends were in Denmark at that time until I by coincidence bumped into Eleni Foureira while I was at work (Copenhagen Airport) on May 2nd 2019 😅 I couldn’t believe my eyes, so I asked her how come she was in Copenhagen and she told me that she had a shooting.
Ancient Illirians (Ηλλύριοι) were one of the ancient greek kingdoms along with Athens (actually not a kingdom but a democracy), Sparta, Macedonia etc. Everybody know this. We used to learn this at school.

is a population made up of people who share a common cultural background or descent. Greeks from the Greek city states to Greek League to Rome had the same cultural backround and descent. Everyone called these people Greeks in any of their books, go search what Romans said about Greeks. Greek language has over 34 centuries worth of written records and you are speaking about the 19th century? It holds the record for being the world’s oldest living language.
You propably heard that Greece wasn't a country until then, or something like that. Go check again your sources and the terms you are using.
ps The top universities with the best historians/archeologists in this planet which have nothing to gain from this, disagree with you. Maybe you need to educate yourself from someone who have nothing to gain and stop reading Albanian history books.

@@albinh.3149 Albania according to MyHeritage belongs to Balkans. She has some percentage from the Balkans. So, there are obviously some CLEAR Greek & Italian DNA to beautiful Eleni. Which doesnt surprise me at all, as all these were territories of Roman, and Greek empires. Apart from the taboos of the modern society, this is beautiful mixtures. I was hoping to have some balkan routes, but not at all unfortunately :(

Southern italy most likely due to Arbereshe, which are Albanians that migrated to italy after ottoman occupation in the 15th century.
There are quiet many Albanians in southern italy. So fusing southern italy with the greek group makes sense.
Southern Albania = minus 21% greek. Joke aside, there have been count 29k greeks in Albania in 2011. I would estimate a max of 50k^^

Eleni's results are average for what an Albanian scores, since there isn't an official Albanian group due to the lack of testing, we are an intermediate population between Greece and Italy since Illyrian times, post-ottoman Arbereshe settlements in Italy and ofcourse Arvanites. All four of Eleni or Entela's grandparents are Albanian, they cannot speak Greek, but she is a naturalised Greek citizen. Her cousin is also an Albanian language professor in the high school of Fier, Albania.
Actually, on DNA MyHeritage, Albanians are put in the Balkans category. So she is like 3% albanian and only that. It's just the fact that quite a few Greeks used to live in Albania so apparently, eleni's ancestors were from those people.
@@equestrian.life. Not really, there are no really borders between genetical ethnic groups but sphears of influece that are mixed and fade gradually. As for the explanation that if there were more data there would have been a diffrent albanian genetical ethnic group, i dont think so - if it was the case there would have been a different greek and a different southern italian group. Offcourse there is nt, as there is no serbian, romanian, austrian, french etc. dna ethnic group. Obviously to make this categorisation genetists found some genetic similaritites in those population. With more data they may correct this group that they will not create an ethnic group for every nation-state! Greeting from a Greek that knows that he has some albanian (Arvanites) ancestry for sure :). (and 0% balkan dna ethnicity result). Why we really want to find explanations to divide our people all the time?
@@oresteskolokouris3425 Arvanites were greek who got albanised in 12th/13th cenutry but got re hellenised and brought back to the greek culture.

Eleni is not Greek but 100% Albanian. We have similar DNA with Greeks and South Italians because we are natives in the area and in Southern Europe.
