Can’t wait to see this back in and running
Neither can I!
@@JoshShare Yo I need some advice on a 6.4L I'm rebuilding, think you can hmu? I'm not a mechanic and I've been learning as I go so I'm all the way down to the point of cranking the engine by hand but I'm having problems. I would really appreciate it if you could help me out. Thanks.
This was very helpful, and good camera work for perspective. Thanks brother.
Looking forward to seeing it Put Together and Running! We sure luv that jeep! Appreciate your amazing Camera and editing work absolutely cool Cheers Bud.
Cheers!
Damn man very impressive. One man operation in your garage. Id pay you to refresh mine.
🤔
Videos are looking badass !! Can’t wait for more
I just uploaded another one 👍🏼 appreciate your support!
Awesome video....My kind of neighbor, has an engine crane handy 👍
Some neighbors borrow sugar, some borrow a lawnmower.. we borrow heavy mechanic equipment lol
I have a Ram 2500 with the 6.4, I just had lifter failure. 57k miles so still under warranty. They replaced cam and lifters and 1 k miles on it and the ticking is back. I’ve heard you can’t fix the 6.4 once this happens. What are your thoughts?
Awesome video Josh, was it a particularly difficult job removing the bumper? I think you could be the only Jeep SRT engine removal/cam swap/head rebuild video on youtube so thats cool.
Not really difficult once you know how it comes off. I’m pretty sure most of the videos are finished products
Love how it's going man!
Thanks!
Hi. I am preparing to do the same job and was just wondering after watching you video how you was able to remove exhaust manifold bolts from heads before removing engine? I thought its no way because of the tight spaces on the side. or the other way as I know is to disconnect from exhaust pipe under the truck. so if you remember please let me know is this possible? Thank you
How often do you change the oil? I determine by idle hours, short trips. Usually 4 to 5k miles, being they claim it is caused by dirty oil. It's probably luck more than anything.
Josh quick question: what do you think about additional transmission cooler for srt? Have you ever had high atf temp warning ?
Not yet but I’m sure I will when I’m done with this project! I know you can get a lower temp thermostat for the transmission
Amazing 👏
Thanks!
My actually just started doing this how much is it to fix this if I take it to a mechanic?
I’ll look up labor times and quote it for you
Josh is this a common fault on the 6.4 hemi? Does it happen because of neglected servicing or just mileage etc? Thanks
The Hemi lifter issue is due to the cylinder deactivation. I did regular service with factory SRT oil and mine failed around 100k miles. They usually fail around 50k
@@JoshShare wow, so is it a straight forward job or do the heads need removing?
@@JoshShare it happens a lot on hemis without the MDS too, so that isn't the issue. Low oil pressure at idle, not getting at the cam and lifters seems to be the culprit, especially since most affected engines have high idling hours.
Is it weird to do a repair this involved on your own car? like, i work on cars for a living, i install engines, replace timing chains, head gaskets, you name it I've done it, but when it came time to rebuild the engine in my daily it felt super weird, like i kept second guessing myself. i dunno. but it's been 40K + with no issues so I guess I do know what i'm doing.
This is a weird comment...
They should have removed the cylinder deactivation.
I did remove the cylinder deactivation
What causes this problem
Chrystler. It’s a common problem on Hemi engines. I’ll explain more in future videos
The mds system is what causes the problem . the problem can be eliminated by doing away with the mds . gm ls engines have the same problem .
How many miles on the Jeep ?
112k when I did the rebuild
How much does all the parts cost
I’m having rattling when pressing the gas any idea what that is?
exhaust actuator maybe.
The hamster under the hood is dying.
