    To give a serious reply:
    1. Reporters were banned from the game, but that was only due to publishing information about Deadlock while Valve's 'handshake NDA' was still in effect. No reporters have been banned for speaking about Deadlock ever since that NDA was lifted and we entered invite access.
    2. You can only play the game on Steam... this is very common and hardly constitutes a conspiracy.
    3. This shouldn't be a surprise, a highly regarded game is being praised by a small group of people who were given access because of their prior involvement in games similar to Deadlock. It would make sense that Valve would seek feedback from people who know what they're talking about within these genres, and have not only experience but are known for their skills and knowledge in regards to MOBA's, Shooters etc. This is common practice.
    4. Not only has the game not made any money, as it contains zero monetization at the moment. But the game has also had zero marketing. The only thing Valve has done that could be constituted as 'marketing' would be the steam page for the game, which to call 'barren' would be an understatement. They haven't promoted the game, they haven't promoted the steam page, paid for sponsors, paid for advertising, they don't even let people review the game yet.
    5. Valve does not need to release a highly polished, highly successful game in early development to get more steam accounts. Steam already has innumerable free games, a dominating market share and have a reputation for sales and free weekends that are far more effective at driving new users than making a whole game. If deadlock was made purely to get more people to make Steam accounts, it would be a dumb move by Valve because they already use far more cost effective methods to do the same thing.

The idea behind the "conspiracy" is simply to say that: "The invite only method more or less constitutes an open beta, because everyone who wants to be invited CAN be invited. This tactic, is a marketing tactic."
But I concede with some of your other points! Thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts 🙏

@@cowLYT And how else would you do it? On random so that people who will never play it get invitation from valve? On random but by request so people who want to play it cant really get in unless they get chosen by random chance? By this tactic they know that people who are interested will play, will test, will suggest changes. It's better than fully open beta where kids who aren't interested download it, open, close and never come back - which would stress servers more and provide no data for Valve.

@@cowLYT In the video you said that game is boring - without any examples. Buggy - again, no examples, I have seen some bugs, but nothing major, which is expected from this time in dev. You have lied about banning reporters and why would Valve talk about marketing or revenue at this point in time? That wouldn't make any sense. And comment about valve releasing their own new game, on their own platform only is laughable, you don't complain that Fortnite is only on Epic Games store, you don't complain that every ubisoft game needs ubi launcher. I’m bored and this is certainly an interesting video so I’ll respond to your arguments:
    1. The reporter you are referring to that was banned for publishing information about Deadlock did so while the game was still under nda and while valve had made it clear they didn’t want people to post or talk about the game and reveal information about it as it hadn’t been announced or even made publicly know in any way. Whether or not the reporter signed anything doesn’t matter in this scenario as it only really would if valve sued the reporter or took any legal action.
    2. By definition, invite only is when you can only access a game after getting an invite. Whether or not anyone can be invited doesn’t matter for the definition as, “invite only” does not require a game to not allow certain people to be invited.
    3. A lack of negative reviews on deadlock isn’t really evidence into a conspiracy. Does the pretty much unanimously high reviews on Red Dead Redemption 2 mean it was built only to make rockstar games look good? If the reason you believe the many good reviews on the game are a part of a conspiracy due to you not enjoying the game I must wonder how many games you played of deadlock? If the game you showed was your only game I feel like your enjoyment could very easily be influenced by your performance. Looking at the game you showed I feel like during that game you did not know what you were doing, and that alone effects how one would enjoy a game. You also lost that game and losing isn’t fun.
    4. This game has received no marketing that I know of as of this comment and while there is a steam page for the game publicly out now there hasn’t even been a public statement about the game as of this comment. If valve hasn’t even announced the game officially why would they release the budget for the marketing (especially since again as far as I know there hasn’t been any marketing done by valve themselves)
    5. Saying that the fact that the game that is not even done being developed isn’t anywhere else but valves store is proof of this conspiracy is kinda silly when you remember that Counter Strike 2 is also only on steam. Is Counter Strike 2 a conspiracy too because it’s only on steam?
To address the main conspiracy itself I’ll bring up the fact that steam is the biggest pc game store overall. Valve already likely makes hundreds of millions a day from the store alone without taking into account the sales of their own games or the micro transactions within them. It feels unlikely valve would spend likely millions on making an entirely new IP where they take a genera like a moba (which are known to be very hard to get into) and mix it with other genres and make that their way to get more people to install steam. If that truly was their goal why wouldn’t they actually make ads or market steam. Making a game that could have cost them millions to fund (and most likely more because it’s not done being made) that they don’t even make a single ad for? We also must not forget that when Deadlock first got leaked it garnered a lot of hate because people wanted them to make something different like a new half life game or something a part of one of their old franchises. Only after it became more publicly accessible did this hate turn into a lot of support and love. To say that they took the risk of making a new IP just so they could market steam rather than to just make money off the game feels more like a reach than anything. The video was entertaining though good job.

The journalist got banned because at the time they published their article, the game was not announced yet. Even tho the game already had thousands of players, they were explicitly told not to share ANYTHING about the game in the T&C. Basically pretend like it doesn't exist. Valve announced the game and allowed everyone to stream/discuss the game only because the community reallllly wanted to talk and share about it.

@ayushmanthapa_onion The T&Cs weren't accepted by the journalist, nor compulsory. There was no End User Licence Agreement given at the time. Valve was censoring the journalists speech. Would they have sued every single person of those thousands of players if people spoke about it? No.

From what we see in the video, you already seem to have made your mind about the game. I don't personally think its a problem though, not everyone needs to like everything. It can definitely put some people off from supporting you though, which is also valid imo.
I got an invite pretty early on, and although I don't play the game anymore, I can see what valve (and iceforg) are working towards. The mechanics in this game is deep, expecting players to sink in hundreds of hours be competent in just one aspect of the gameplay, and expecting even more to master it. The barrier to entry is very high, which is counter to what other games like valorant, league, etc. do, i.e. lower the skill ceiling to make it easier for newer players to get started. But this challenging aspect is exactly what draws players in and keeps them playing.
I don't agree with your conclusion. I absolutely think deadlock is one of the best games to come out in a long time, and it will absolutely push the gaming industry in a certain direction (like most valve games do). The official release of the game an important landmark in gaming history.
I like to support smaller gaming creators every time I come across one of their videos, I can definitely see the quality in yours. I would have loved to see your face more clearly in the face cam though, since you don't seem to speak a lot in your gameplay, it would have been nice to see your reactions at least. Maybe you would change your mind and love the game after spending a few more hours (like atleast 50) since theres a lot to the game and gameplay.

the "Valve own 30% of steam's revenue" is weirdly worded, Valve MADE steam and own every single dollar they make from it, they take 30% of every sale of a game made by other devs who want to sell it on steam. Also you are talking about it like steam isn't the no.1 gaming platform. You can guarantee that more than half of the people who play games on pc have steam, the actual number of people who created steam accounts just to play deadlock is probably ridiculously small as anyone has probably made one to play any other steam game that exists. (Counter strike , Dota2 , PUBG , GTA5 , Apex, Wukong , Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3 to name a few very popular titles)
all in all this video seems like it wasn't thought through. It's almost like you played 1 match without even looking up guides on how to play correctly (plus you were attacking while your weakened patron was getting attacked, hence the fact your teammates were telling you to defend/called you a bot) and made this video immediately after losing the match without much analysis behind.
(also your queue times were prolly long bcs you selected a small number of heroes to choose from, it's almost instant if you have 5-6 heroes selected)
Stop trying to find conspiracies where there aren't any

  • @huntercreed1
    @huntercreed1 День назад +2

I have to legit ask this, have you played a MOBA before? Because I've noticed this trend and it is on display in spades here. I play with a large pool of people (14), the players who do the best in the game are those with MOBA experience, the worst players are those who have never played a MOBA (or have only played a couple matches of a single MOBA like League or DOTA). You skipped the tutorial and it shows by the fact that you ignored the denial mechanic and decided with no items and not even having your second ability yet to jump in to both players in a 2v2 lane and had a surprised pikachu face when you died. You were floating a ton of souls and didn't buy a single starter item until 5k. You and part of your team had 0 map awareness that truly shows by the fact that you and your Infernus were pushing while A) the entire enemy team is in your base and B) the entire rest of YOUR team is either dead or fighting in your base to stop them from winning. Honestly the hootspa you had to go 'I wanted to be proven wrong, I really did' while you actively contributed to your team losing is ghastly.
The reason your first match took so long to get in to is because they try and find other players in the queue who have as much experience/games/MR as you to try and pair you in to a lobby of similarish skill, as the timer ticks up they widen the pool to try and get you in a game faster. Its not that the player numbers in queue are fake as you implied, it's literally Valve trying to throw you a bone and not chuck you to the wolves where you would have been even more frustrated. Because you were in a relatively even stomp, I've seen games with a team up 80k souls.
As others pointed out the journo didn't sign a proper NDA if you read the article and know how it was pre-invite access, the game had a big pop-up when you launched it that literally read 'Deadlock is still early in development, with a lot of temporary art and experimental gameplay. Do not share anything about the game with anyone' and prompted you to press ok that you understood it. Reminds me of the Forever Winter beta when the devs said 'please guys try and only make content that is 30-60 second clips and don't stream it to keep the game a surprise for launch' and the community listened and didn't post full videos or stream until the launch, because the community was made of players not dirt bag journos out to try and grab a few clicks despite the fact it would have been in their best interest to be the sole person streaming a very hush hush game. And is what the journo did, Valve had the most simple request of 'please keep this quiet, we want to blow people away at our own pace when we feel ready' and because it wasn't a legally binding NDA the knobhead decided to try and argue 'we are doing our due diligence', if anyone believes that they need to get clinically committed.
Honestly the entire video comes across pretty vapidly, not having fun with a game and then saying 'so I think the community is either lying or fooling themselves and the game shouldn't be overwhelmingly positive' is the equivalent to saying 'I didn't have fun playing Baldurs Gate 3 so the community is probably just overhyping this fantasy slop'. You are entitled to not like something, there are plenty of popular things I'm not a fan of, whether TV shows, movies, games or music, but to try and say 'why doesn't the majority agree with me' is beyond goofy.
Trying to have the viewpoint of a conspiracy (a stupid choice of words for the reasons you give).
    1) they banned a journo (singular, not multiple) for ignoring their request to not share anything until they were ready, just because it wasn't a binding NDA doesn't mean they wouldn't have the right to ban you from being part of the beta because you're a dick
    2) it might be a technicality but it is correct, it isn't a full open beta and you need access to it, the fact only like .4% of steam players have access shows it's not a full open beta.
    3) arguing that 'almost everyone who played it like it' because they think it's good is insane, does that apply to all games with insane reviews or what? BG3 had a closed beta and strangely enough, almost every single person who enjoyed the closed beta gave it a positive review, it's not a hard concept to grasp.
    4) this shows a complete lack of knowledge on the industry, almost no companies give full open budgets on stuff unless they are just trying to flex a particular game, for example despite being almost 15 years old, we literally don't know the budget of Starcraft 2. Almost everything you read online about game budgets are typically industry veterans and analysts giving their best guesses based on development time, ad blocks and studio size. Almost no studios will ever give out full budgets or even just partial budgets, they tend to keep that stuff very internal.
    5) saying it's a conspiracy that a company makes a first party game inhouse and wants to keep it inhouse would be like saying 'the great Nintendo conspiracy, why isn't Smash on PC', they want to keep their revenue and not have to pay money to other companies. Yes of course exclusives bring in customers, obviously Valve wants more, I'm just trying to wrap my head around such a goofy statement as 'is Valve secretly making first party games for the sole purpose of making money and growing their playerbase?!?!!?!?!?!' like honestly I'm just stumped as to what even make of such a string of words. Its like saying 'why doesn't Costco open Costco food courts in other stores? Is Costco running a conspiracy of selling cheap hotdog/drink combos to try and drive in customers?!?!!?!?'

But mixing moba and fps together makes it something familiar yet new for many people. It can join both moba players and FPS players together in something fresh.
    2)
Unfortunately load times are determined by the heroes you select, the more heros you select the faster it is to find a game, and if everyone playing would select every hero then finding a match would probably be instant.
    I have most hero's selected.
3 on purple that i would prefer playing
2 on gold that i would be okay playing
And like 3 in White that i would prefer not to but i would still play the game if i got them
And my loading times are almost instant. When i had 1-2 characters selected it would take ages to load.
    3:
This is a joke, as in your video. It's valve, and anything they do is insanely popular and for good reason. Just enjoy the game it's refreshing, enjoyable and doesn't have any loot boxes or predatory market in place yet just to show how early it is in development, yet it plays and runs better than 99% of other modern games.
