    Nice video Beavis, thank you. Just a random piece of information for anyone interested, concerning electric seats. I own a 09 FL2 which came back from an engine rebuild but the drivers seat seemed to get stuck after a short distance which meant that my wife was having difficulty reaching the pedals. Checked for obstruction but nothing blocking it. Eventually discovered it had gone into stall-mode and all you need to do is hold the forward/backward button for at least 2 seconds. Problem solved - moves backwards and forwards all the distance you need. Hope this might help anyone who has a similar problem.

    There is a slot under the plastic cover on the passengers side to push the metal key in and realise it.
    I brought a replacement cover from ebay worked well

    You didn’t need to yank the door handle cover off. there is a slot in the underside to slot the key blade in, Then that cover comes straight off.

    With some Jedi powers and wizardry iv just successfully done this with a new keyfob. £22 all in including a soldering kit. Got quoted £200 locally to do this. Next to order a new battery for the dead spare (original Land Rover fob)
    Thanks Bevis for giving me the confidence to tackle this.

    My keys have been working more than 13 years and the batteries still in good condition!

      Mine are 14 years old and this one failed 6 months ago. The spare is still going strong. It seems that the batteries last for 12-15 years, so yours may go soon.

    Hello from across the Pond! I'm really digging your European Spec FL2. Ours don't have the folding mirrors nor the (most reliable) Diesel Engine (we have the Ford/Volvo 3.2 Petrol here) which is not too shabby nontheles. Thanks Beavis for your informative videos!

    i had the same problem with my freelander, exactly the same problem. and believe me it was one of the easiest fix's! it turns out that the connection gets loose after awhile and all i did was put a bit of sticky felt (the sort you put on the bottom of table legs to stop from scratching the floor). so i put a small piece of felt on the inside of the fob above the battery and the buttons worked again. sadly i still had to get a new key and fob (£117)

    Did mine a few months ago only thing that I used to open case was a pair of circlip pliers the ones that open outwards really helped with getting it open 😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

      That is how you open an aftermarket case. Very easy. I tried that method on my factory case, no chance. Had to hack it apart with cutters. Took ages!

    I have changed my key cover last year and purchased a spare key and simply programmed it to the car very simple to do 🙂 the only thing I have not done is get the spare metal key cut

      I’ve also bought an unprogrammed complete new fob. Need a decent code reader to program a new key. My Autel AP200 will do it so I may try it in a future video. The thing that put me off is you have to do something to all existing keys. I’m worried I may accidentally ruin all my keys!

    • @fredflintstone1

      @@BeavisPits That is the code reader I used it is simple you just need one good key which is read then the new blank key which is written too it is not hard to do just follow the instructions on the app, I now have a Launch CRP 919X but the autel AP200 programmed the key no problem

    also, did you know that you can open the boot from inside the car by pressing the lock/unlock buttons together and holding them until the boot lock opens

    • @BeavisPits
      @BeavisPits  Год назад

      Interesting! I didn’t know that.

    • @random-person1
      @random-person1 Год назад

      @BeavisPits I found that out quite by accident when I was getting frustrated because the damn fob wouldn't work! One of the [supposed] tricks to reprogram your fob was to hold down the lock/unlock buttons. Needless to say, it didn't work, but it did open the boot lid!

      @@random-person1 Holding down the unlock button on the fob also lowers all the windows. Holding the lock one raises them as well.
      That being said, I'm having a problem with my driver side door lock. When I park up, I have to hit the unlock button in the car to unlock the door - the drivers door handle won't unlock the central locking from the inside

    • @random-person1
      @random-person1 Год назад

      @@HaggisMuncher-69-420 is your car set up to lock all the doors as you drive off for the first time? im not actually sure if it is something you have to set up or whether its a feature of the car though? as for holding down the lock or unlock button to operate the windows, i think you can do that with most cars? my neighbour has a jeep that does the same, i have had fords and all of them have done the same.
      the might be the answer ive been looking for. the front passenger stops as soon as you let go the button but that shouldnt happen. pull the button back once and let it go and it should close on its own. will try it in a few minutes

    • @BeavisPits
      @BeavisPits  Год назад

      The door unlock mode can be changed by pressing both buttons on the fob for 5 secs with it already unlocked but doors closed. The window mode is similar. Lift both switches for 5 seconds with windows up. A battery disconnect will reset both of these. Yes, my car locks after driving off (>15mph). This can’t be changed on the earlier models AFAIK.

      I actually got given it by somebody who was selling their freelander 2 and had it going spare unused. I think they can be bought on eBay quite cheaply.
