Nice video! I’m on a similar path with my ‘19 GTI Autobahn. I just had 034 Motorsports Lowering Springs, Spacers and rear sway bar/endlinks installed. I’m absolutely loving the upgrades. Keep the content coming!
Just gonna share my experience based on the multiple setups i've had. Regarding this video, you should really not consider installing a H&R Sport springs on stock Shocks. First it will ruin your shocks and second will give you a bouncy ride. Combine it with B8 or Koni Sports and you'll get a proper setup 🙂
@@jesusthug it is in any case if you're looking for a proper setup performance and confort. If it is just for the looks ok :) Sport springs will ruin your shocks even if they're new. Is that what any of us want? Don't thinks so, but this is also just my opinion but based on some facts and experience
@@Guilhermepalmeida I went 60k miles on H&R Springs before I upgraded to Megan coil overs on my SHO. Last 3k miles was notably shit. So yes it will kill your stock struts faster. But it took a while. Just what I experienced on a 2 ton car.
If you were to compare stiffness to the different modes before and after, what would the “old” sport feel be like in say normal or comfort with the new springs? Obviously it will be stiffer so I’m imagining that the new springs will have a similar sport feel from the old springs to something like normal mode? Am I correct in that theory?
You do not have to touch the axles to remove the struts. I have had all 4 corners off multiple times to adjust my koni yellow struts. Its the worst part of the koni yellows adjustment is dont on the bench fully disassembled
I would have liked to have seen a walk around view of the car to see the wheel gaps better and wheel spacer spacing. Go pro views while driving don’t show very well.
I agree, I do not see why rating the install of the springs has to do with the springs themselves. It's like rating doughnuts on how hard they were to eat.
I’m interested in these or Eibachs. Issue is that I know eventually I’ll have to upgrade my struts, etc, however I don’t know exactly which ones to go with. 2020 GTI 6spd m with PP. Greatly appreciate anybody who can share a link to the proper ones I need.
I never said that, coilovers are great for adjustability and will perform better. Springs are a cheaper option to get a slight drop but you wont get the same performance as a coilover.
Great vid dude u answer my fears becuzs i want to lower my car s5 but was not sure with stock shocks/struts with the damping ride control System HR i will give them a try oem shocks still in pretty good shape when its time to replace i will try something different i just want the look rt now thanks again for the vid help me make a Decision on how i want to go.👍👍
Sir., I have Renault Fluence 2014 What do you think will be best for my car H&R or Eibach howver H&R drop front and rear both are 35mm while Eibach drop front 30mm / rear 25mm
Hi, I have a 2019 GTI Rabbit Edition also with adaptive dampers. I wouldn't loose the possibility to change the driving modes (normal, sport, etc) if I change to the H&R lowering springs, right?
Hi Friend, I know the hard is install springs on the golf. I installed racingline springs on my golf 2019 last year, that was really hard the front springs. Im not mechanic but I like to learn and to do. I did this in my garage. Racingline springs droped 1" almost. I was looking for the little bit slow look, then 1" was perfect to me. The brand say the performance is "OEM+" then this drop was perfect to me too. I was reviewing the h&r and eibach, I prefered racing line because is a brand only for VAG cars. About the handling, this is nice, just a little hard in rear suspension. I am using the stock dampers but I am thinking to install bilstein B8 to have the suspencion full kit. I dont know I m not sure, because is my daily car and the streets in my cuntry are bad. (alot holes) I am from México. Then I dont know if with the bilstein dampers my suspension will be harder. My golf don have adaptative suspension. What do you think, what is your tip? thank you.
BeyondOasis I have H&R on my mk7.5 golf R. Let's just say I'm tempted to go back to stock springs. The ride is very harsh when going over bumps. You will have this jarring shock when hitting some bumps on the road. Most irritating thing is the bounce, that occurs for most of the drive. So the Car now feels way to bouncy. The ride height is ok, not perfect. I wish it wasn't so low. Instead of 20mm drop maybe 15mm drop would be better. However, handling when cornering has improved, especially on smooth roads. Handles like its on rails. Would I do it again, no. Do I regret doing it, yes. Leave your stock springs on and get a H&R sway bar on the rear. That's all you need
I agree with most of Maximus' comment. Hitting a harsh bump does really bang the car. I had to hit some gnarly bumps at 70mph to really feel it be so aggressive though. I don't notice the bumpy ride too much, it's certainly there but we took a 20hour road trip and was comfortable enough to sleep along the way. It definitely handles better, but I did it mainly for the ride height which I love. Different strokes for different folks. No universal right answer!
jesus then he gets tot he ride quality and goes on for another 3 minutes about the two differnt ways hes going to rate stuff. GOOD LORD GET TO IT ALREADY

If your stock struts are under 50k miles it’s not necessary IMO.

I’m on the same setup and i hate it. Sport dont match with OEM dampers.

Really appreciated this, you have a totally different car but the detail you go into makes it quite easy to understand what may and may not work.

Did you consider the H&R OE springs or only the Sports ? Been giving a lot of thought on which ones to get for my MK7.5 GTI SE
what the name of the phone mount you had in the video
I would have liked to have seen a walk around view of the car to see the wheel gaps better and wheel spacer spacing. Go pro views while driving don’t show very well.
Check out the install video
Springs are springs, it's not H&R's fault Volkswagons are a pain to work on
I agree, I do not see why rating the install of the springs has to do with the springs themselves. It's like rating doughnuts on how hard they were to eat.
Look, it's a general rating on the overall experience with the springs, install included. You guys are thinking too deeply into it.
The rears are super easy to install and the fronts are not bad at all you just need the correct tools just like any other vehicle.
Your stock struts should last about 35-40k miles before they start getting bouncy. Go with the Bilstien struts when you replace the stock ones.
Thanks for the advice!
@@ColoredinLight You have my dream garage. I have the GTI 2017 sport is38 DSG. MX-5 in 2022.
are those really ok with a lowered suspension over stock struts?
How are HR? I used eibach pro kit 1.2 f 1.3 b and it rides about the same as stock. BUT OVER BUMPS AND BUMPY ROADS IT DOES NOT RIDE GOOD AT ALL.
Is that the Rennline Cell Phone Mount to the right of your head unit? Looks like maybe a pad of paper or something on it? Thanks.
Yes it is!

I love it, best phone mount I've ever had to be honest
My h&r sport springs broke after 7 years, 3 months, family car driving. Probably from potholes and typical roads.
What phone mount is that it seems perfect for the gti

So springs are better than coilovers if you only going to drop you car no more than 2inch?
I never said that, coilovers are great for adjustability and will perform better. Springs are a cheaper option to get a slight drop but you wont get the same performance as a coilover.

Either one is fine, nothing would be wrong if you chose either one.

No
