It's good to be back, my dudes! With lockdown easing, I'm hoping I'll be able to start uploading regularly again very soon. In the meantime, do me a favour and go subscribe to Electroheads - and tell them I sent you! ruclips.net/channel/UCgrtRCRLtmBzle7rjJxDUsgvideos
Y'know, your channel is a prime example of one that deserves far more credit and recognition than that of many other high profile 'car youtuber' channels out there. Great honest reviews with good old self deprecating british humour thrown in. Keep doing what your doing as it's great content and can tell it's getting better each video.
Love your GTI! It looks just like my first GTI; a 2-door 2007 in Reflex Silver. Same wheels, and I lowered mine similarly (as US spec Mk5's were inexplicably lifted like monster trucks). I loved that car. I drive a Mk7.5 Golf R now, but I still seriously weigh buying a Mk5 GTI and fixing it up as a second "fun car". They were magical.
Another good vid as always, commented on your R32 vid as i was a few days away from collecting my MK5 R32 to replace my GTI, 11months later and i don't regret it but i am now certain of the fact the MK5 GTI is just as good (minus sound) amazing cars, keep it up!!
Well said! I'm gonna revisit that R32 and do another vid with it, this time with better sound and video. Adore that thing. As you say, no faster but sooo much more special!
Jack, 3 year mk5 owner here. I’ve gotta tell you, one of the best driving feel mods is a suede stitched steering wheel cover. Makes it feel like new, first thing I did to mine. Also had the H&Rs and they rode fantastic 👍
As someone who has also ruined his GTI, I have to say that I really enjoy my lowered GTI. Get some fresh struts and refresh the front control arm and rear trailing arm bushes and you’ll be in heaven. If you think it drives nice now, replacing those things will really turn this into a sweet driving car.
I’ve the same H&R springs on my MK5 GTI. Came with the car. Firm but not too firm. Low end tyres on mine but not minded to change them as I’m thinking on selling.
There he is, once again! I've been rooting for you to reach that 10k mark for so long now. If you hit 10k this summer, you might even have 20k by christmas :). Stay healthy, I have read that it has been a rough ride in the UK. Cheers!
My GTI is literally identical to yours. I'm entering in third year of ownership, still looking forward driving it Cheers Edit: Even the tyres are same!
Afro Samurai! I owned the exact same GTI back in 2008. It was written off and I was lucky to live, no fault of my own. That resulted in me buying a blue R32! I have been living in Phuket for the past 10 years so haven’t needed a car. Due to COVID I’m back in Australia, hence back in a golf! Can’t wait! 😜 The GTI 2moro is pristine with only 70k kms!
You might not but i enjoy the fact you're running the same car for an extended period. It gives us real world content , rather than some youtubers and their which supercar am i buying this week stuff. You may wish you were in that position, we all might, but it gets boring very quickly. Surprisingly quickly. My wife has had her r32 for over 10 years now and its more interesting than running a brand new one, in my opinion. I remember watching a programme and it was elton goes shopping. He was buying whole racks of shirts, dozens of boxes of shoes, in every colour. Yes he could afford it but for me there is a lot of pleasure in wearing out a favourite pair...getting them re-soled. Or the collar going in an old denim shirt. Im havering now. Maybe im just trying to make us all feel better about not being loaded haha
Hey Jack, sad to see you stopped uploading. I even checked the Electroheads channel and can’t see you in any videos in the past 2 years or so. It’s a shame as I LOVE your mk5 gti videos. Are you still alive or just too busy with other stuff?
I had a mk5 myself about 3 years ago, i looked at about 5 mediocre ones but the one I bought was pristine. 2007, Xenons, elec sunroof, 6 disc in dash and not a single scratch on any of the soft touch interior coating, and it still had the ‘bottle opener’
The bottle opener things blew my mind too. I've had the car a month and my biggest complaint was the stupid design of said cup holders. I ended up getting one of the brushed Aluminium ones that we're discontinued a few years ago.
I too drive a GTI MK5 and other than regular servicing, unfortunately I haven't done anything to it. Once I find new employment, I'm going to sink a fair amount of money into it though. I'm going to replace several parts since it's such an old car and I don't know when anything was last replaced. As for mods, I'm going to add a catback exhaust, air-intake, lowering springs and eventually a downpipe and turbo-inlet pipe. I'll probably get a tune too and perhaps a new brake kit; Brembo or Neuspeed if I can afford it. I really want to up the turbo to a K04, but that's probably not the best thing to do as it's a daily driver. Another great video as always, Jack. Your car is looking clean with the springs and new wheels too.
@Jack Scarlett , I would love for you to cover a golf mk5 twin charged tsi 1.4 litre gt 170HP version, I have one in Ireland at the moment and put way to much money into fixing it but it still has its moments .... never the less its such a fun car to drive on the back roads and I think for someone still on a learners license and I'm 18 the fact I can get insured on it since its not a "2 litre" gti is amazing , really hope you find someone in the uk who has it as they are more popular there and in Poland. Kind regards, Cameron.
Fellow MK5 gti owner here, love the GTI content and the mod videos are amazing, i highly recommend you go intake and tune next but to each his own. Love the content keep it up!
K&N intake already on, I love it! Think it's catback exhaust next for me, will get to remap eventually but think I'd better do the bloody timing belt first. Glad you're enjoying the vids mate!
Good to see you back dude .😃 I have the MK5 R32 and the first thing I bought for my car was the bottle opener as it was missing . Now have a new set of Cruize Blade alloys for it as well as blue footwell lightning and LAPD windshield light bar but that’s just for shows lol . Your GTI is coming along nicely . Would love to meet you in person and have you take my R32 for a drive .👍 Also I watch your vlog on the R32 all the time . I must be responsible for at least 50 views of that vlog .lol
Great to see another GTI video Jack, do you have any clips of what the cam chain sounded like before you got it changed? PS. I stumbled upon the electroheads channel yesterday, enjoyed the ID.3 vid & hope you are able to review one in the coming months
Interesting review. I have a 130bhp Tdi Mk4 with 102k on the clock. I wouldn't go back to a petrol unless I really had to . I need to change my front shocks and springs soon but want to keep it standard. How much were your equivalent suspension set up compared with the lowered ones?
Wondering if you still own this given all the electrics you now get to drive over on fully charged show would love an update even if it's bad news. Also why no link in bio or channel follow to fully charged show if people subbed to you for your personality surely help them find more of you. I was shocked to see you there after finding you thanks to bwtv and then finding fully charged show due to Maddy's video on switching to electric car and watching another video and going I know that guy from somewhere 😅
Sir., I have Renault Fluence 2014 What do you think will be best for my car H&R or Eibach howver H&R drop front and rear both are 35mm while Eibach drop front 30mm / rear 25mm
Dude, so disappointed 🧐. You, sir, have sold out. Leaving us, the rest of the puritans in the cold. (Just j/k) U can't go wrong dropping any car to suit your driving style or taste. Just do it with class & practicality, not stupidity & a virtually undrivable car.

Now you only need a set of spacers and then your car is absolutely perfect
Lockdown easing? Boy was your past self in for it.
Enjoy your content because its relatable and down to earth even if its only every few months 👍🏻
😂😂 thank you mate
2:20 "Are you even a true car lover until you've ruined one of your own cars?" THIS HIT HOME HARD lmao.
it needed to be said
Oooh Anybody else catch the K&N lowering springs fumble @ 4:18 ?🤣 Lol great vid mate! Glad to see you back and have a covid haircut!
FFS 😂 literally just clocked. Damn these aftermarket brands and their generic names! Glad you enjoyed mate

Appreciate the shout out Jack, the bottle opener is truly a game changer for the mk5 😂. Top video as always 👊🏼
Nice one mate! Thanks for the tip. Mind still blown!
This channel is so underrated it’s crazy. I’d love to see you review a newer Audi RS3.

I’m putting h&r on mine, had them on a car before and didn’t lose too much comfort 👍
It’s too 4x4 on std springs
Awesome. Over lockdown in Florida I also lowered my mk5 GLI. I used vogtland springs. Beautiful GTI!!
You're actually pretty good on camera, not too annoying, funny, etc... that put's you in the

Hello bud,
When I wrote off my modified mk5 gtd 210 BHP I made sure when it was being taken away I made sure I rescued the bottle opener..
Welcome back! If I could I'd let you review my FBO BMW E92 335i but I live in the Netherlands. Recently bought it and it's a very special car.
Wish I could! Road trip some day perhaps. Thanks mate!
Love your videos mate. You're low-key the reason I'm buying an E39 M5 in a couple of weeks. Keep it up!

Love your videos! Feeling more tempted now to get some lowering springs for my r32 😅😂
Did you get them??
I used the same springs on my 2008 GTI and they were pretty good,
Yes Jack! Welcome back! Thanks for using the graphic :)

Sounds like a proper project! Check my video on the modded up black Mk5 if you haven't already, sounds a lot like what you're aiming towards 👊
My 2009 came with regular cup holders so woohoo!! for me but sadly no vw bottle opener.
I’m fairly sure it’s a belt not a chain so I wouldn’t have thought it would rattle.
The biggest flex when I bought my mk5 was that it had the original bottle opener in the cup holder
Body colour those bumpers Jack. Night and day difference!
Unpopular opinion but I really don't mind the plastic trim!
Loving the look of it mate! Thinking about lowering my car too soon.

What side skirts are they? Ive got a mk6 GTD and they'd lok wicked!

Hello Jack, do you have a reason for choosing the F1 Asymmetric instead of the F1 Supersport?
Interesting review.
I have a 130bhp Tdi Mk4 with 102k on the clock. I wouldn't go back to a petrol unless I really had to .
I need to change my front shocks and springs soon but want to keep it standard.
How much were your equivalent suspension set up compared with the lowered ones?
what year is your car? also i thought tining chains are extremely expensive?
Real reason you chose H&R springs? Your numberplate says HnR. It was meant to be.

Wat size lowering springs u have on 30mm,35mm or 40mm
Hi Jack, how are the springs holding up a month later?
Hope to see a video in 2022 :D
