  • Welcome to my fleet histories series. In it I review year-by-year aircraft fleets of an airline.
In this video I go through SAS' Douglas/McDonnell Douglas DC-8 history from 1960 to 1987.
This series is inspired by Elmauriplatense. You can check out his channel here: / elmauriplatense
Music: "Death by Glamour" - Toby Fox

What aircraft should I review next from which airline? Put your suggestions in the comments below!

The DC-8 ( 62/63) gives me many good memories fm my Stn.Mngr period 1973-76 in MLW (Monrovia) Liberia with all the fine crew slipping/passing thru ! GREAT days!

Loved flying DC-8s and the B-707. First class had a small lounge opposite the front door which was a nice place to go to mid flight. To this day, they still remain my favorite aircraft/s

I have to say I prefer the DC-8, the 707 looks to stumpy in my opinion.

Ibirdball ... the DC-8-61 and DC-8-63 were quite long. I remember looking back into economy ... 3x3 seats row after row after row as far as the eye could see.

I do love the Super Sixties, would have given anything to have flown on one.

My grandfather's brother flew a DC8 called 'Sverre Viking' sadly it crashed into the sea of the coast of Los Angeles. Captain misread the altitude. His name was Ingvar Andersson

He survived the crash. And came back to Sweden to fly a 747 from Sthlm to New York until his retirement. He died in 2002.

Incredible, I hope he enjoyed his subsequent flying and retirement :).

I think the plane of 1968 is Sverre Viking but I'm not sure

@@eggsyninjagrape1734 No it's a DC8-33 SE-DBC Visbur Viking, you have to search for LN-MOO Sverre Viking which was a DC8-62

Regarding the sound track, how HARD is it to turn your sound off if the music bothers you so much?
