Went to work in the airlines in 1968 and spent 38 years in the business. These videos are pure magic.........thanks for bringing these to the tube........
Your most welcome Vulcan, I love this stuff too. Was just 7 in '68, but already by that time a pretty hard core airliner geek, LOL. Thanks for the great words; I especially like to hear from former employees who worked in the industry, I feel like I can give at least a little bit back. Just came into some 8mm film with about 2 hours worth of airliner footage from the 1950s & '60s, as soon as I can get it transferred, I'll get back to work here.
Classic Airliners & Vintage Pop Culture I started with Air West and ended up retiring from Delta.........was very lucky all the way down the road.......deregulation and Lorenzo were the disasters along the way........no complaints, we had a ball in the smaller cities in the 60's and thru the 80's that will never be seen again. Got to see the world on the cheap when flying was fun. Pan Am 707's were the best.......going to HNL for the weekend, priceless.........lol
+Vulcancruiser Hello! When you mentioned HNL f/ the weekend, it brought back the memory of taking EA early on Saturday mornings to Bermuda, spending the day, and catching the late, late EA Saturday night flight back to EWR. This was in the late 80s and early 90s, until the evilevilevil Lorenzo killed EA. I worked for BA, KL and AY.
+Classic Airliners & Vintage Pop Culture Thanks for your great channel. I was about 7 or 8 in 1968, born 1959, so we must be about the same age. Or maybe not, since I am Eternally 39! Our house in Bayonne, NJ was right on the landing path for Newark Airport. The planes flew so low we could make out the airline and reg numbers. So I was an airline geek too, early on. I ended up working for British Airways, KLM and Finnair. Thanks again!
Thanks for crediting GDS Creations. I compiled those films and sold them under my company name GDS Creations. Nice to be credited after 23 years. Thank you and enjoy - I still do!
Hey Glen, thanks for chiming in!! I was thrilled when I found these in I think Airliners Magazine around 1991. Glad it''s OK to have these uploaded, and my very special thanks to you for making them available! I never forgot "GDS"...has just stuck with me all these years. Are there any other gems hiding in your archives perhaps?
wow u made my day at o;31 I saw convair 240 ETHIOPIAN AIR LINES I flew on it,thanks 4 posting this great clip when able type ETHIOPIAN COCKPIT VIEW and enjoy it!
First time I've seen how those venetian blind thrust reverser doors operate on the DC-8 JT3D engines. I only flew aboard the Super-60 series DC-8 which didn't use that system. Nice shot of a Mexicana DeHaviland Comet too. Another great one by Classic Aviation, thanks!
Hey Guys, anyone know what the background music is in this film? I know this music has been used in a bunch of films like this from the era, would like to identify it. Thanks!
+Classic Airliners & Vintage Pop Culture : The background music runs along the lines of British composer Clive Richardson. He created a genre of light orchestral music that was widely heard in the 1940s and 50s.
I see. So the '60s music was played with acoustic instruments, whereas '80s music was entirely relegated to electronic MIDI interfaced gear. Ditto for the '90s. Now it's all laptop music. Hmmm.
Here's the strange thing: Terminals 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7-(all seen here and numbered as such) preceded Terminal 1. Terminal 1 wasn't built until 1984 and opened about 6 months before the Tom Bradley Terminal during that year. Very odd. Also, T2 was eventually completely rebuilt, as was T3 just recently. There are no satellites on the north side of LAX that are seen in this film anymore.

Great video, I worked at LAX from 1968 to 1993, this brings back a lot of memories.
Excellent as all your videos, you just get transported to another time when you watch these films and the unique environment they create around you.
Thank you so much, Jorge.

Fun film. So interesting that so many elements of the airport remain the same!
Satellites 4, 5, 6, 7, the Theme Building and the original control tower are still there.

Maintenance operations at 20:40 brought back some memories.
Ah the golden days of the jet age.
Ladies and gentlemen, the jet age has arrived.
LAX used to be such a beautiful airport. It's a pity they ruined it.
What civilized country was this filmed in? I don't recognize it.
This is a nice time capsule into airport ops in the early 60’s. I just wish that so much of the footage wasn’t so overexposed.
The past looked more futuristic than the present in some ways.
That was cool. Thanks.
Thumbs up.
cool!

Mexicana airlines ....comet IV livery
Do they still farm at LAX?
Yes
20,000 passengers per day is not much by 2021 standards. Obviously a reflection of steep travel costs back then.
IT WOULD BE GREAT TO INCORPORATE THIS VIDEO IN COLOR
22:28 is that a Baron?
GOOD OLD DAYS WHERE THERE WAS NO "SCARE BUS "
Solomon Pilot good ole days when people weren’t biased and liked all planes
What airline was the original tenant of terminal 1 ?

Geesh with all the BS Red Tape and PC rules today in California this could Never be built !!!
Those rules keep you safe and alive. Build an airport with no rules???
sounds like nfl films
