Thank you for sharing that last comment about the shipping bolts. We just purchased this washer and dryer for our new home and they are awesome so far. We just decided to get the pedestals and I'm pretty diligent with watching RUclips for any helpful tips. I'm glad to know to use the shipping bolts to install the pedestals as they were not left with us when they were installed by the appliance store crew. I'm going to the store today to get them as they cost 50 bucks for the kit...🙄 thanks again for asking questions...it's the only way you learn anything 💯 🇺🇲👍

My washer and dryer were installed on pedestals. Once levelling legs on feet as well as on appliance have been lowered, should there be a gap? Mine has a gap of just over an inch and the screws and brackets are very visible. Is this normal and correct or should the appliance make direct contact with the pedestal? I’m thinking neither the feet or appliance legs were not levelled or minimized. Thank you for your input. Sonia

Guys, not only removing the “bolts” after installation, you have to also remove the four long rubber/plastic washers that house those bolts. Additionally, you have to remove the two flat, metal braces that go horizontally in the back of the washer. The two braces are held by bunch of phillips screws that may make you think they are part of the washer.
I removed the “bolts” only and left the long plastic washers/sleeves untouched. Ended up with crazy vibration even at Normal spin mode. The reason I felt weird and went back to read manual fully is that the washer shook the sleeves out, literally, during extreme vibration.
Read the manual and don’t be like me.

Hi. I would like to purchase the pedestal to go with this washing machine. Is it still possible to install at this point? I'm looking at one of the comments below which makes reference to shipping bolts on the washing machine to protect the suspension when it's laid on the ground.
    Thanks.

    • @geappliances

      Hi Rakisha,
Thanks for reaching out! We can understand wanting to check on this. The shipping brackets on the back of the unit should stay on if you're going to lay the unit down, this helps to protect the interior of the unit while it's on the ground.
Once your washer is in its final installation location, you can remove the shipping brackets on the back of the unit. If these are left on, you may see more aggressive vibrational issues when running the unit.
We hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to us on Facebook or Twitter.
      All the best! -MS

I received my washer and dryer with pedestals ordered through Costco. Unfortunately the installers either jacked up the installation or when moving the appliances with straps quite a distance torqued the unit. The ball bearings feel out on both units and the drawers aren’t working. Taking several weeks to get someone out here when GE was contacted. Pretty much ruined my excitement about these new washers. Can you carry these attached with straps for a maybe 50 feets without damaging them or were they likely faulty from the get go?

Video recommends lowers those cheap plastic leveling legs on dryer yet they dont provide the paper thin wrench needed to get between the pedestal and dryer to adjust the legs. Appliance Installers told me they usually remove them all together since they crack off 99% of the time. They weren’t exaggerating, thinnest cheapest plastic I’ve seen in a while. Notice the washer leveling feet are solid metal. Makes no sense to go cheap on their flagship Profile washer and dryers

@@geappliances I must be missing something.. It seems that with the shipping bolts still installed, they would protect the internal suspension system, while being placed in a position 90 degrees from normal.

    • @geappliances
      @geappliances  4 года назад +1

      Hi John,
The best practice is to have the shipping bolts installed in the washer any time it is being moved around, including when it is laid on its back as part of this installation process. The shipping bolts should then be removed at the completion of the installation process.
This is done to protect the suspension components and ensure that nothing internal to the machine disconnects during the installation process.
Also, the Installation Instructions for the pedestal say:
IMPORTANT: Shipping bolts should remain in place during installation.
      We hope that this helps.
      Stay safe. -MS

Hello Marc, and thanks for reaching out with this great question! If you need to move the washer, the tub can indeed be kept stationary by using the shipping bolts, spacers and clamps that were removed during installation. More information about the shipping hardware is available in the use and care manual; if you need to view the manual online, you can do so by looking up the model number on our GE Appliances website and going to the product page.

What a joke. Way to go GE (Haier,China). How many engineers did it take to come up with this brilliant design. Samsung only requires you to open up the claws on the pedestal and then to close the claws around the feet of the washer . Locked close with 4 screws. Takes about 1 minute. First and last “GE” product I ever buy. BTW, warm cycle is cold at best. Pedestal feet leveled and I am now at 47 minutes into a 55 minute normal cycle because the POS can’t level to spin and I still have another 30 minutes to go at least. Never thought I’d say this, but I wish I had my Samsung back!
