    Thank you, it was driving me so crazy because the bathroom rugs were weighed down with water no matter how many times I did a rinse and spin or quick wash to try to get rid of the water. You’re amazing and so is google

      did it work for you? My rugs won't spin

    • @fixthishouse3303
      @fixthishouse3303  2 года назад +2

      Will they spin on “low”? I sometimes run the spin cycle on low, then medium, then high. Silly we need to do that, but the other option is to hang the soaking wet rug on the fence outside.

      My bath rugs won’t spin dry either. They are dripping wet! I have tried this and doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. But yet I don’t have issues with towels. I guess this washer doesn’t like to spin small, heavy loads.

    • @fixthishouse3303
      @fixthishouse3303  Год назад +1

      Yes, small, heavy (absorbent) rugs are tough. Are you spinning at least 2 of them? I do small loads with 3-4 heavier floor rugs and they spin pretty well.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you! The lack of just a spin has been the most frustrating and dumb feature on my GE washer. I just washed a pillow and it was still so wet after the cycle finished, even on max spin. Spinning now!

    Washed my car cover this (6/4/21) and of course its soaking wet! This Video saved me SO much hassle, as the cover is water resistant and to retain its water resistant properties it can't be dried only Air Fluffed. GE should have a Washer setting for an Extra Spin Cycle.

    It works! Thanks so very much. Couldn’t find information in manual that came with it. But for people that say rug etc are still wet. Can’t spin one thing alone like a rug or jacket. Manual says it makes load uneven and will not spin fast; only very slowly leaving extremely wet. Just had to add 2 towels with a Columbia fluffy jacket.

    I've hated this about my washer. Think of all the wasted water because they took what should be simple and computerized it. Short wash and rinse and spin have only 1 min difference in their cycles. I don't need rinse and spin and have used it only because I wanted spin only. Thank you for showing this!

    • @fixthishouse3303

    Oh wow thank you!! I have had a Maytag set for a while that I didn’t realize only had “rinse and spin” until after it was too late, and turning off the extra rinse doesn’t turn the rinse part off.. maybe it’s messed up, idk.. but I just bought this GE set and I saw it also has rinse and spin but I said well I’ll just deal with it.. Thank you for helping me fix this problem that I have been hating and complaining about for years!! 😄

    • @fixthishouse3303
      @fixthishouse3303  Год назад

      Can you try spinning it with another similar item? One rug by itself will make the drum imbalanced. Another option is to spin it on low, then medium, incrementally increasing the speed over the course of 1 or 2 spin only cycles. Again, I’d recommend adding another item or 2 first.

    Omg thanks so much!!!!! I have the exact model and I have been trying to figure this out for over a year!! Even at this moment with only about 4 towels in the washer and 2 other items, they were soaked and currently on a rinse and spin cycle! Patiently waiting for it to finish to just do the spin cycle.
    Question: will this fix the issue of just washing towels?? No matter much (and by much I don't mean a washer entirely full with towels) or less towels I load the washer with, they never spin all the water out , it always causes imbalance I guess. Will just the spin cycle fix this?

    • @fixthishouse3303
      @fixthishouse3303  2 месяца назад

      “Spin only” may fix the problem. If not, look at the kind of towels you are washing. Are any extra large or extra absorbent? One time I transferred towels from washer to dryer and left them all tangled up. They didn’t dry. They won’t spin well that way either. Watch for longer towels that tangle up smaller towels and make it hard for the machine to balance. Hope that helps!

    On small loads where it can attempt to dry the clothes with it's vent feature in the washer - can you pause or do something to add a dryer sheet or the woolzie wool tennis balls? This would have to happen after the wash cycles are all done.

    • @fixthishouse3303
      @fixthishouse3303  3 года назад

      Hi, That feature (wash and dry a small load) is not included in our model washing machine. I would imagine you could pause the machine without stopping the cycle, but that might defeat the purpose of washing and drying your work uniform while you sleep. Maybe someone else knows the answer to your question?

    This has to be a design flaw. I just had this installed and cannot wash a full load of towels. I originally had an LG and could literally wash full loads of towels with out an issue. I wish I never changed the brand. I had my LG for 12 years before it went out. You should have to go through these extra steps.

    • @fixthishouse3303
      @fixthishouse3303  3 года назад

      I rarely have to use the spin only setting, but I’ve which items to separate. Do you know how many full sized towels you’re trying to wash? Did you get this same model washer? (I think ours is a 650.) Do you wash towels on the towel setting or something else? (I usually use “normal.”) I just used my sister-in-laws LG top load washer and hers really does hold a lot.

  • @johnh8397

    Super helpful. I could not figure this out. You mentioned that Power Clean is for washing the washer. I have been using Power Clean for laundry bc i assumed Self Clean was to wash the washer. Also, is there anything special you have to do for the Ultra Fresh Vent system or does it do it automatically with all cycles. Thanks again

    • @fixthishouse3303
      @fixthishouse3303  3 года назад

      Thanks for the comment. I must’ve misspoken- Self Clean is for cleaning the machine. I use Power Clean for extra dirty clothes. When you remove clothing from the washer, it will chime at you to turn on the UltraVent system (top right button). It rotates the tub, drains and vents it to prevent mildew formation.

    I have the same problem. What I notice is that if it’s too heavy a load sometimes it won’t spin. You have to make sure you use the bulky bedding setting if it’s lots of towels or towels and blankets. But then I started to smell something like rubber burning. It’s a brand new set so I’m not happy with this. I called for repair so I’ll see what they say.

      Sounds like it’s not spinning them out enough. I think of bulky items as comforters that don’t weigh much but need more water to reach the innermost section. Let us know what the tech says.

    Hello, I love your videos. They are super useful. I just bought a set of these machines so we could go and I am super frustrated. Spend way too much on these and I can’t get them to do what my old 14-year-old machines did. I tried to wash a small dog bed and I can’t get it to spin. I tried the spin option without the extra rinse which was a great idea, but it is still soaking wet. I called customer support and there solution was not to wash dog beds just buy new ones, you gotta be freaking kidding me! Any advice for me? ThankThank you.

    • @fixthishouse3303
      @fixthishouse3303  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, to wash a dog bed, you’ll need to add a towel or 2 so it can spin in a balanced way. Try to find something about the same size or weight (when wet). If it still won’t spin out, run a spin only cycle on Low speed and increase the speed when the load is balanced and spinning well. You may want to wash 2 dog beds at once… though that means you need to have 2 dog beds.

    I find this washer so frustrating especially to see so many people have the same issue. We got this for our second home and every other time I do a load it is soaked. When I do rinse only the 11 minute cycle took 45+ minutes. I had 10 or so items, leggings, tank tops, pj's so no reason to be off balance. I do see it happens often with the quick wash cycle, do others experience that as well where this is a consistent/frustrating process? I have an LG at my primary residence and that is the best, quick wash extra soiled is 25 minutes and allows me to get laundry done quickly.

    • @fixthishouse3303
      @fixthishouse3303  2 года назад

      I’m not sure why the cycle would take 45 minutes unless the leggings get twisted around the other clothing and disrupt the balance.

      I had a problem similar to this when my machine was BRAND NEW. GE came out, connected their computer and told me a part was bad. I can't remember the name, but it apparently is a COMMON PROBLEM and the technician saw right away what the problem was. Part was ordered, came in, they came out and installed it, and everything has been fine since. Except now with this SPIN issue that this topic is about.

      I’ve found that laundry loads that won’t spin on max setting will spin if you start with low or medium and work your way up to high/max. Usually there is a culprit in the load that is super heavy when wet (like my sons’ high quality sweatshirt mixed in with lightweight athletic clothing). I sometimes run the spin only cycle on medium first, then max.

      Hi Jan, Yes, I am happy with the washer. We use it a ton (for 2-3 Airbnb’s and a family of 6). You could probably avoid some of the mildew issues by limiting who can touch the washer. I think this machine only has one cleaning cycle. The only thing I might *not* be happy about is having to watch which items I wash together - the polyester blanket / cotton blanket combo just doesn’t work. I’m not sure another front loader would do any better. What do you think? Thanks for watching!

    • @janstafford1365
      @janstafford1365 2 года назад

      @@fixthishouse3303 yes putting like blankets together would be for any machine so it can sense how to spin the water out I suppose. I believe I read this GE 650 does well, doesn’t it spin to 1300 rpms? This is one reason why I’m choosing to stick with a front load, for the better spun load to help out the dryer. Also we do lots of king sheets, heavy blankets and such. You are certainly giving your machine a good testing with all the loads for Airbnbs, puppies, and wonderful large family laundry. Have you ever had new polyester blankets even though washed before using, leave loads of little fuzzies on your sheets, which are subsequently impossible to get washed off? The fuzzies seem to cling and not let go!

    • @fixthishouse3303
      @fixthishouse3303  2 года назад

      I haven’t had a problem with fuzzies on sheets. I prefer the nice, but affordable, Costco sheets. We bought this set in August of 2020 when there were manufacturing delays. We might have purchased the 550 model if it had been available. We were looking for large capacity, quick cycle, and the venting feature because the laundry room is heavily used and short on space. I will say that some of our older towels are crunchier/scratchy after lots of washing/drying. I’m not sure if the dryer is to blame or if they are just old or need a cycle with vinegar, but it’s odd.

    • @janstafford1365
      @janstafford1365 2 года назад

      @@fixthishouse3303 vinegar in the rinse as a substitute for softener is something I’ve done for 20 years plus. I use so much vinegar in my house! Yes towels do get old and need replacing, so that could just be age and not necessarily your dryer? Question: Does the GE 650 allow you to add water ? Just wondering.

      @fixthishouse3303  2 года назад

      Thanks for the hint! Do your towels smell like vinegar? I think my kids would complain.
      I don’t see any “Extra Water” option on the 650. They have Pre-wash and Extra Rinse.
