I usually don’t watch my GE washer do it’s thing either, but once I did, I questioned the PowerSteam feature. Wouldn’t the steam appear on the door? I paused the wash cycle, opened the door and the clothes dry and at room temp. I’m calling my Service Center in Monday. Thanks for taking the time to video your washer.
I never saw any steam. The clothing did get warmer… I don’t know. The cycle is so long with the steam option on. Let me know if you (or anyone reading this) knows how the steam function works.
@fixthishouse3303 It's because you didn't even push on & activate the power steam button! You can clearly see that the light icon wasn't even on. It's located right below the auto detergent dispenser which you should have it set on automatic & not minimum. 🙄😁
I like the detergent set to minimum. It uses too much otherwise. Thanks for the PowerSteam comment. You may be right on point! This machine is not intuitive at all. I’ll check it out. Thanks!
Hey Nancy Im going to be purchasing these washer and dryers soon and it would be helpful to know how long these specific cycles with these options are. 1. Normal Cycle, Normal Soil, Warm Water, Max Spin, Power Steam, Extra Rinse 2. Towel Cycle, Normal Soil, Hot Water, Max Spin, Power Steam, Extra Rinse Thank you
Thanks for that! The more I see, the more I am set on this GE. We’re moving in Oct/Nov and that’s the machine I want now, for sure. My other choice was Speed Queen but it’s $1500-$1800 just for the washer. I feel this is the next best thing. What did you think of the cycle? Did it really clean the items you had in there? Do you see a difference?
I’ve heard great things about Speed Queen. (You might want to plan ahead when buying your machines. You probably know this, but quarantine caused some washing machines to be on back order for months.) The items came out clean. I’m not sure how clean, but I think in general this machine cleans well. I get a lot of oil stains on T-shirt because I make soap. I’m wearing a shirt now that used to be stained. Now it’s not. I don’t know when / what cycle I used on it, but it’s better now. After the sanitize cycle the items seemed fluffier than usual - much drier and fluffed, but still damp from being washed. I’m seriously testing these machines with all the laundry we do.
@@fixthishouse3303 Yes, I’ve heard a lot of machines/appliances are on backorders so I’m researching now and hoping to buy by late summer/early fall, to have it delivered by Oct/Nov. I need to research fridges next and dishwashers 😅 but my favorite thing is laundry so I’ve spent a lot of times researching this past month + 😊
I’m replacing my Whirlpool that has the fan fresh feature that pulls in air and spins every few mins after a load finishes so they don’t begin to smell like mildew. It will do this for 8 hours vs the GE that has the ultra vent option but I heard that function is to only dry the drum. Have you had any issues of clothes smelling like mildew if you leave them in the washer too long? Btw your video on the self clean with the wood chips made me keep this model for delivery. My current whirlpool can’t keep up with our 3 huskies fur and the filter placement is a joke so looking forward to getting this GE!
No, I haven’t had a problem with clothing smelling of mildew if it sat for half a day in the washer. If the washer drum starts to smell, I run a cleaning cycle. You are correct that the UltraFresh feature dries the drum while the machine is empty. There is an option called Tumble Care that might keep the clothing fresh after washed, but I haven’t used or researched it (yet).
I love this washer dryer set but I have seen a lot of reviews of people saying it doesn't use enough water. I've searched all over the internet and I can't seem to find a video of just a normal wash to get an idea of how much water is used. Have you noticed too little water being used!?
This is our first front load washer. I guess the amount of water used isn’t as important to me as whether the clothes get clean. I think it cleans better than my other (top load) washers have -I say that because I have a lot of oil-stained shirts from making soap. Some of them have come clean with this washer while they never came clean in a top load washer. Another thing I learned about removing dirt: friction cleans. The issue might not be about how much water or how much soap you use. It’s about friction. That concept surprised me. If I wanted more water in my washer, I’d wet some of the clothing to make them heavier and trick the machine into using more water. This assumes the machine adds water based on the weight of the load. Hope that helps. I might need to do a video of the whole normal wash cycle! Thanks for commenting!
@@fixthishouse3303 wow thank you for a such a great (and fast) response! I watched all of your videos on this washing machine and I think I'll just go for it!! Thanks again!!
@@kdg247 I think you’ll be happy if you do a lot of laundry. I love running a load in 34 min (normal cycle, light soil, cold water, high spin, time saver setting).
@@kdg247 Also - light weight athletic clothing (like gym shorts) come out feeling dry, but smell like fabric softener so I know they are clean, but most of the water is spun out. You might think that means the machine didn’t use enough water.
Hi does your santize cyle on the dryer try to run for 3 plus hours? I want to use it but hesitant because i dont want to burn my clothing inside it kinda scares me. At 45 minutes the clothes are dry this was towels and some shirts and 1 set of light denim jeans. Do my question is have you used this setting? Any issues? Or is it fine to really let it go the full 3 plus hours.
I never used it. I think 3 hours is excessive. Maybe if you had mites or bedbugs (or work as a medical professional in a highly contagious environment…) it would be worth trying.
I watched the spin light on a few loads today and it didn’t blink. I *thought* it might blink when trying to spin an unbalanced load. Does yours always blink?
@@fixthishouse3303 yeah it blinks when I wash bed comforters and some heavy loads. I think it is because the washer is on a pedestal and it shakes alot when it starts to spin.
In general, no. The high efficiency machines use less water and allow friction to clean clothing. I think I’ve tried washing a fluffy, light comforter on the Quick Cycle and I questioned the water level. These machines most likely weigh the load to be washed and adjust the water based on the weight. A light but bulky comforter would need more water… but not get it because it’s light. That’s when the bedding cycle comes in handy. Just my 2 cents. Others may chime in with their opinion.
Does the machine BANG? Our pipes do that when we use warm/hot water. We installed a hammer arrestor on the faucet but need to move it to the back of the washing machine.
I replied to your other comment. You need to add detergent to the SmartDispenser or turn off the SmartDispenser. Here’s a video that may help: ruclips.net/video/SEdru_zntyE/видео.htmlsi=bKoPx7HpXV5eoBKu
Short answer: not that I know of. One viewer says she washes most of her laundry with normal cycle, warm water, pre wash, extra rinse, and max spin. That seems to help get the clothes washed better.
Is the load balancing? Is it set to “no spin” by accident? If you only have one item in the washer, it may not be able to balance itself and won’t spin.
This is happening to me. I had my 3rd washer replaced today. Same thing! Also not filling with HOT water. I had plumber come out we have hot water. Im about to loose my mind!!
@@Mejiaa775 Is there a filter (like an inline hose filter) that could be clogged? We had a different washer with some kind of 1” filter insert. We removed them and the machine worked.
