Do you have any info on the GE profile 5.3 model? Wanted to see is it worth spending an extra 200 for profile that's a little bigger. Or would the 5.0 model the better choice for the savings. Thanks for the great video

This is the best washing machine ever. To the people saying the washer stinks after a load. That just means you don't know how to operate the washer. I had mines for 2 years it has NEVER smelled bad. The vent feature is amazing..

I am glad people here are happy with GE. We have had issues with our front load washer seal. 5 times the seal has come off. We paid extra for a Assurance warranty. After this latest problem I contacted GE and so far they were absolutely no help at all. Each time the washer is a problem there is a two week wait for service. Cost of going to the laundromat is 150 dollars each two week period. After the 5th time I contacted GE and they were totally uninterested in assisting us. I see here where the company has aided customers who were out of warranty and that they have made design changes to their product. A word to the wise, do some research before purchasing this product.

Your videos are so well presented. You provide everything we want to know about the product, its features, the pros, the cons. I also appreciate your sharing the models you use in your own home. No fluff, no hype, just honest presentations, and the caveat that while you're giving your personal preferences, the choice is ours. Well done!

I decided to buy this set after renting a new build for two years and had great experience with this GE front load washes and dryer that was included in the home.
Before, I didn’t believe in front load because of the smell/mold issue that I’ve heard of, however after using this set for 2 yrs I never had an issue so when I bought my new home I chose this set. I recommend.

Hi! I know I'm late to this party but I just purchased the 850 series w/matching dryer based in large part by this excellent review. I have a few comments for those considering the GE line. Firstly, I agree with the video that between the three, the 650 is the way to go. My dealer didn't have it in stock, so I went up to the 850, as mentioned. However, since this video's publication, there is a new GE Profile model (PFW950) positioned above this trio by GE Appliances. I regret not having purchased this upgraded washer/dryer combo. Although the differences between this new entry largely lies in its expanded software that offers significant features like being able to have the machine learn your preferences for each cycle, it also adds a much-needed moisture sensor to the UltraFresh System, so that it is based on dryness, not just time. Do yourself a favor and check out this one if you're considering GE.

I’m in the market for 650 or 850 and now I learned about the 950 that also gets the Profile branding. Is the 950 really worth the extra about $1000 over the 650?

1:56 Europe here. We’ve been using front loader since decades. For me it seems the mold issue is a customer failure. Let the door open, use a small towel after every washing cycle for drying some wet areas and remove the detergent area. Never experienced mold

I have had my 650 model for a few weeks. It is the best washer I have ever owned & there have been many. I had a GE set 25 or so years ago & really disliked them but technology has changed. One of the reasons for my purchase of the 650 was the Microban technology. My laundry is in the basement & even tho my dehumidifier is on 24/7 my old Whirlpool Bravos front loader had a real mold issue in the dispenser tray. When I discovered it I worked a long time trying to clean it. After that I removed at the end of any laundry day & dried it out the best I could & left it out & then sprayed the inside with alcohol. That took care of about 90% of the problem.
I am still removing the tray in the 650 out of habit. My only problem so far is the Sound button. I only get 2 sound levels instead of 4 & the 2 I have are useless. I could hear the end of a cycle upstairs when my Whirlpool finished. Also my Wifi app notifies me when a load will be finished in 5 min. I wish it would alert me when is it done also. I have not purchased the dryer yet. Patiently waiting for my old Maytag dryer to die. I replace the heating element 3-4 yrs ago & it is still working really well. But I really need the new dryer & pedestal because of body issues. My hubby offered to buy me the dryer also but I declined. Now I am thinking about selling the dryer so I can buy the GE dryer 😎
    Thanks for a great video!

I would not do this for all loads but I do have some that I would like more water. The only problem I had is with a load today that I was using prewash with oxyclean. I selected no detergent since it was still in there but the machine would not let me do the prewash with no detergent selected. 7:00 this is only half true. GE has two tiers when it comes to appliance repair service “Factory Service” and “Customer Care” customer care is 3rd party. I’m a customer care technician that can perform warranty work for Ge however the reason companies don’t invest their time is not because they get paid a flat rate but because they don’t get paid well. most companies pay a total of around $100 in labor for each completed repair, not per trip, completed repair.

I recently purchased the GE 650 washer (and dryer) after enduring 8 months of nightmarish hell from LG. My brand new $3000k+ set never worked right from Day 1 and LGs customer service was so abysmal that it took 8 months to finally get them to admit that the units were faulty and refund me for them. I will never buy another LG product as long as I live!
Happy to hear the GE machines sound so wonderful, and cheaper than the LGs I purchased and hopefully better customer service. My new units arrive in 5 days, I’m keeping my fingers crossed 🤞

had the older model of this. Lasted me 11 years. the springs rusted through the frame on the washer, predrilled holes and mounted it again. I also had the matching dryer. they did their job. 4-8 loads every single week including king size bed sheets and comforters. 6 people in our house. I just upgraded to the latest model. As far as the mold issue people talk about with front loaders. I run a bleach sanitation cycle once a month and once we are done with laundry, we leave it open overnight, its really not that big of a deal. No mold after 11 years.

LG and Samsung have a small hose to drain the water before removing the pump filter, so you don't have to worry about flooding the floor. But the GE washers don’t have that hose. Even if you put a towel and a container underneath to catch water, there is only space for a relatively low container, so I am worried that the floor will be flooded every time I clean it. Hi. Thanks so much for your video. I was not aware of the manual venting process. I am having a little trouble with my clothes smelling, and I don’t know what else to try. I have switched my detergent, I’ve sanitized my washing machine and I never let them sit. Still of my clothes smell gross after completing the washer and dryer process. I do like to use a more natural detergent, but wondering if it’s to do with my appliances. If you have any tips, I would be all ears!

I’ve had my 850 for 15 months. Two weeks ago it stopped draining. We checked the drain line (clear), drain filter (clear), and replaced the drain pump. Still not draining. From what I can tell this is a common issue with the 850 as well as the 650. Based off other owner reviews, it’s an electrical or motherboard issue that is more expensive to fix than to purchase a new machine. So disappointed to be buying two new appliances (since mine are stacked only 15 months) after doing my due diligence and researching for over a month when I purchased this nightmare. Do NOT do it folks! The number of 1 star reviews in the last year for these machines are unimaginable.

How to put the machine into drain & spin:
Set the washer to rinse & spin, you'll notice the extra rinse option is automatically selected. If you turn off the extra rinse option, your machine will now run a drain & spin! No water will enter the machine.

Any help is appreciated, thanks Doug Nykel

I have purchased the very first LG front loaders in the market back in 2006. These cost over 5000 dollars in 2006 and adjusted for inflation is over 8000 dollars. First page on the manual talked about how to keep the front loader clean and avoid mold. After 16 years they are still in use with ZERO mold if you take care of them properly.

Question: I own this duo, and use the automatic detergent dispenser with liquid Tide all the time. However, I would like to occasionally use my Arm & Hammer washing soda, which is a powder, in conjunction with the detergent for certain loads. Arm & Hammer recommends using a quarter cup of powder at the beginning of the wash cycle along with your detergent. Is there any way to do this conveniently? May I set the wash cycle for the auto dispenser as well as put the powder into the tray (after flipping the little flap over for powder)? What I have been doing thus far is I have been dissolving the washing powder in a little water, letting the machine get started with the auto dispenser for the liquid Tide, then pausing the machine and pouring in the powder/water combo right into the washer before proceeding.

This is one if the washers we are considering. But I heard from a few salespeople in our area (NC) that all front load washers nowadays have antimicrobial materials in the gasket and detergent drawer. We asked LG and Samsung and they both said they do. So is the only thing really that sets the GE ultrafresh apart from the others is the venting system (which could be made up for by leaving the doors open after doing laundry)? The low ratings of GE washers in consumer reports has me nervous about buying this washer over LG.

have had this washer for over a year and its the same as any other Front Load washer. You will still get nasty smells even after running the vent feature after every load. it DOES NOT drain all the water after a vent cycle. at least 20oz of water still resides in the bottom of the unit after using the vent cycle. You need to uncap the drain plug in the front, run the vent cycle, and reinstall cap after every load. Otherwise you will get mold and stink. This vent feature is a crock of SH-T!

Now we would have to spend another $1000+ to buy this GE washing machine if we really want to live a mold-free life. And our LG washing machine didn't even come with a user guide just a maintenance and installation manuel. I had to go onto the internet and download a 60-page user guide.

Lots of great detail in here -- do you happen to have an updated version of this video to cover the new 950 (Profile) series washers & dryers? I just ordered a set because my tried & true Kenmore front loader just failed over the weekend. Also, you mentioned an anticipated 10 year lifespan -- is that really accurate? if so, that's a bit disappointing since the set I'm replacing lasted a full 20 years doing on average 4-5 loads per week. Although my Kenmore set was made in Germany, so the build quality was somewhat exceptional to begin with. I was hoping that by purchasing in this price range, I'd get close to that longevity again.
