Really enjoying Fred's videos, informative with no clickbait gets a thumbs up from me. #97 at Macmulkin and can't wait. I won't be tracking my Z06 htc so won't be getting Z07. Even if thats the only way to get the high wing. I love the ducktail as well. Htc, 3lz, cfl2, ccb are a definite yes. Hoping for a summer museum pickup but will have to wait a few days for full ppf and ceramic. Should get to see some different specs before I order hopefully.
Thanks Vettesweetnos! I think that makes sense if you're not tracking, especially since that will save some decent money. I'm with you, I like the ducktail spoiler as well, and may not go Z07 (we'll see). Even though I will be tracking the car, I don't know that I will ever be good/fast enough to notice that much of a difference. Any track experience I've done so far has been about building skills and having fun, not about extracting 11/10ths out of the car, so for me it likely wouldn't make a difference. Currently I'm leaning HTC as well, love how it looks with the top down, and honestly most of my driving will be fun back roads up in the mountains, even if I do the occasional track event. Have a nice day! -Fred

Great video Fred. Homerun this week. Any word on cylinder deactivation on the cars in 2023? Brandon at vette titans has a lot of information. Glad you checked him out.
Thanks man! I have an unofficial (meaning I can't validate if it's true) source that said no cylinder deactivation, but I'm working to get that confirmed before I share it. I am reasonably confident that's correct, but I'll update when I know more. Certainly something I'd love to know for sure.!

If I remember correctly, someone said if you drive the base Stingray in manual configuration, the cylinder deactivation will not occur. (Sometimes my memory is spot on, other times?) 🤔 Not sure of course how this relates to the ZO6?
Yeah, it does seem odd that we're mere weeks away from orders opening up, and still no pricing. My guess is they are internally agonizing over the final numbers and if it's more important to have a "low" price of entry, or accepting what the car is and making a bit more on top of each one. That's just speculation on my part, but I don't see a good reason why they'd hold back, unless they're worried about some other brand trying to steal their thunder, so they're waiting till they can announce without any other big car news coming out on whatever week they choose to. -Fred
Hi Fred, Another good video. You are undefeated among Z06 content creators! Hopefully, the dealer tour is more proof that GM is going to build the hell out of these things. Why would GM waste marketing money on a car they knew was sold out for the production run? I don't see any Porsche dealer tours for the GT3. Looking forward to see how you spec yours. Do you think the LT6 would be heard better with the coupe or with the convertible with the top up and the rear window down? That is my dilemma. I want to hear the LT6 more than I want to see it.
Hi Haveblue Vette! Nice to hear from you again, and thanks for the compliments! I'm with you, I genuinely think GM is going to make as many of these as they can, to get as full a return on their R&D time/money as they can, as long as there's interest. I'm guessing you saw my video a month or two back about Unlimited Production? I think that was the clearest answer yet for what GM plans for this car, an unrestricted total number over the run of the car. As a bunch of critical commenters pointed out: Yes, they can't build all of them the first year. These armchair "experts" got all in a tizzy about what "unlimited" really means, while few (if any) actually watched the video I referenced, to hear the quote directly from the head of communications of the Corvette team. Essentially as long as there is interest in the car, GM will make it. So while it may mean a wait of several years if you're higher up on a list, I'm pretty confident that anyone who wants one, and has the finances to afford it, will eventually be able to get the car. Like you, I'm hoping they alter the ratios with the Stingray, so they make a higher percentage of Z06's, and get them in the hands of buyers as fast as they can (while still achieving high quality), but that remains to be seen. To your question on sound, I believe the HTC will likely offer the better Aural experience. Think of it this way, the coupe has the same little middle window between you and the engine, but then also has the main glass window on the back. So between your ear and the exhaust, you have 2 layers of glass insulation. With the HTC, it's just that little window, and it can be retracted. I saw an interview with one of the engineers, back in December I think, and he commented that the HTC was in his opinion the best way to hear the engine, and that he preferred it, always keeping that little window down. I don't remember which engineer (maybe Aaron Link?), or which interview, but that stuck with me, and makes sense. I'm definitely leaning HTC at the moment, and am excited to share my spec after a number of these deep dive videos. BTW, in each deep dive, I'll share the direction I'm going for each component in those videos, so those keeping score will actually know my spec (more or less) before I do the final video. :) Have a nice day, and thanks for reaching out! -Fred

Fred, Firstly, thanks for posting photos of my C5R-427. You mention with that power it could be a handful to operate. So true! In the beginning at Road Atlanta I had to be very careful. Once we modified the suspension, added larger Nitto R-Compound track tires, Brembo brakes, it was a great track car. Looking back, we replaced everything on that car except the alternator! Guess what failed...yep the alternator! By the way this is the car at idle: ruclips.net/video/DZEHXU9VLjU/видео.html I watched Rick Conti going through the Z06 ordering process. He said that it appeared that the larger wing was only available with the Z07 option. I know a lot of people who were never going to track the car still wanted the wing. IMHO I think that the wing should be limited to the Z07. Your thoughts? I am really getting anxious to get behind the wheel. Once the dealers start ordering the Z06, I will monitor my status in the queue weekly. How much my spot drops each week will help provide a better estimate to when my order will be placed. All I can say to my fellow drivers at Road Atlanta, quoting Arnold, "I'll be back!" Sully

Fred is the GOAT, I love his comments and perspectives!!! Good Luck with your OWB coming up soon. As to the Z06 Wing IMO, I doubt I would personally order a ZO6 with one. The Exposed Carbon Fiber High Wing on the Base 2022 C8 I believe was around $6,500 as I recall in the OWB. So, if the 2023 ECFHW is offered as an option, expect to pay $6,500 and possibly then some. I would limit it to the ZO6/ZO7 package build. That is a “Special Build” and should remain special! If there is one in Carbon Flash, I might be onboard. Yeah, it’s sort of like building a clone, but some people don’t have deep pockets and can not go all in for all the ECF costing tens of thousands of dollars. I assume that in order to get the build up into the Stratosphere of $140,000 and above MSRP “as the car sits” on the dealership tours the ECF options/packages are going to be expensive. ZO7, what do you get in the package and at what price point? Wing, splitter, rims, tires, ground effects, what else? THE TOTAL PACKAGE or ALA CARTE Menu? I imagine you have a great time on the road courses!! Just how much difference is there from the pulling power of your car to the C8 2023 ZO6 from your perspective I’d like to hear back from you!!!
@@kerry_glock According to a GM rep at one of the dealer shows, the fully loaded coupe that was there cost $150K. I am anxious to see how much better the Z06 is at the track compared to my C5R-427.
Hi Sully, Sorry for the slow reply (busy as always!), nice to hear from you. Love that C5R, it was my pleasure to share the pics of it, and a bit of info! I do think there are some "connections" between some of the various options, such as if you spec the big wing in the visualizer, they're automatically adding the CCB's, etc... One thing that the visualizer shows is that the Z07 package appears to be separate from the big wing. That doesn't mean that's what the truth of the matter will show, but a few things indicate (to me at least) that the wing won't be exclusive to Z07. First, the various spoilers for the C7 all became available for almost all versions of the car (Stingray/GS/Z). Next, the Z07 package includes several internal chassis and suspension changes, it's not just an aero package. Depending on how complex and involved those changes are, Z07 may be more about those changes and unlocking the carbon fiber wheels, and adding the cup2 R's than the actual aero. I get what you're saying about limiting the wing, though I see it a bit differently (at least right now, we'll see when pricing comes out). I don't think my enjoyment or appreciation of an option is affected by others with a lesser car (lower optioned), having "the same" aero or look. That said, I do understand that if someone is paying significantly more than someone else, generally they're going to want their car to look different/better. I think that's one of the big reasons that they put the side intake "wishbone" on the Z, versus the stingray, so that at a distance you'll instantly know what you're looking at. Personally I'm all about as much flexibility and options as far as mix & match if given the choice, though I realize in practice this becomes impractical and expensive for GM. I'd be fine with if they lock that wing away behind Z07, though I've always thought that there should be a bit of a visual representation separating Z07 from Z06 with the added aero. Almost like the 70th anniversary badges they're adding to the anniversary cars. Doesn't have to be huge, but sort of like how Dodge with the Challenger has all the different emblems on the front side fender behind the front wheels, to let you know which model it is. I would love a little design nod like that. I'm with you, very excited/anxious to drive the car. Though I'm deep in year 3 right now, I think there will be some drop off, and I'm hoping for mid 3rd year (best case), but we'll see. Anyway, have a nice day, great to hear from you! -Fred
