What is UP RUclips? Welcome to Fred's Full Throttle! Some time has passed, quite a lot of time. I've seen lots of comments, wondering where I went, why I haven't been making videos, and if I'd dropped off the face of the planet. For those that have emailed me, commented, and reached out, I really appreciate it. That support and interest means a lot, and it's taken me a lot to get back to this p...

Well, it's the end of the year and since we're about 4 months from driving season, I figured it might be fun to do a bit of a look back at the autocross racing I did this past year. This coming year I will be doing more autocross, more bike trackdays, and with our nearly completed Lemons car, car trackdays and testing sessions! Here's wishing you Happy Holidays, and I look forward to the coming...

What is UP RUclips, welcome to Fred's full throttle! It's been a minute since my last video, 3 months actually, and I've been itching a bit to make one. Many of you have been reaching out via email and in the comments to ask if or when my next video would be. So thank you for that nudge, it was time. For Today's video I want to talk about a few things: First, the new Corvette ZR-1, then I want ...

What is UP RUclips, Welcome to Fred's Full Throttle! It's nice to see you again, since nearly 3 months have passed since my last video. When I last left you, I explained that I was moving away from a set schedule of any kind, and that I would make videos now based on when a topic struck me, and when I had time. I'm choosing instead to focus on enjoying my time as much as I can, and fit videos i...

This week I'm getting back into some Corvette content that I know many of you have been missing! First off, today I pulled my car from hibernation, and have my first cold start of the C7 Grand Sport. Next I want to talk a bit about the Z06 allocations situation. From there, we'll head over to the E-Ray and I want to talk over a drag race that Haggerty performed and the outright performance from...

What is UP RUclips, welcome to Fred's Full Throttle. Today I decided to change things up a bit, and I want to talk about the worst drivers out there. There are a lot of them, and I think we've all run into many different kinds as we drive. Today I'm going to go over the worst of the worst drivers, from least bad, to the most rotten. I'll be talking through what makes them so terrible, and why I...

What is UP RUclips, welcome to Fred's Full Throttle! In this week's video, here's what I'm going to cover. I'll be talking about MacMulkin's plans for opening up their reservations on the Corvette E-Ray (yes you can get one at MSRP). I'm then going to spend most of the time talking about the E-Ray itself and what we've learned about the car. Then I'll talk about some updates to my Z06 plan, sin...

How many times can you say safety net?
Exhaust can be set up where it isn't connect to drive mode.
Just got my 2019 C7 Grand Sport, so thank you, very informative!!!
Gold on black is ace, think 1978 Darmah 900.
Red taillights? Every car has them. Even exotics. Kinda cool GM decided those should be stock for Z
Lighter wheels should reduce the difference between crank HP and wheel HP. AI search gave a rough estimate that each pound of unsprung weight saved is 0.9-1.3 HP. If willing to spend $21k for a 230 HP TT boost, spending $11k for CF wheels to save roughly 37-53 HP (for 41 pound reduction) isn't as great of a value but it helps.
do rocks bounce off and prevent from chips when installing PPF ?
Z06 extra HP over the GS has exponentially high losses at high speed due to air resistance and is useless at low speed because it can't get the power down. The GS will literally be just a car length behind the Z06 at any speed or acceleration. The Z06 was built for those guys with more money than brain cells. GM knows their audience. 😆 For all you clowns out there, both cars are identical. Its the engines that are different. Can literally install a supercharger on a GS and call it a Z06.
Any plans of doing a long term review on your GS? LOVE the corvette content!! This POV was great!
You’re awesome brother. I am new to the Vette world. Have the same GSport Admiral Blue. Learning a lot from your content. #mikey from Rhode Island
Sorry to hear about your mishap Fred! I currently own my 58th bike since age 11. It's a KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. Well balanced and moderately priced. I bought it on clearance last year. You can get a new one for around $15k now... She's a beast. I think you'd like the bike.
Hi Clark-n-anita! Nice to hear from you again! I've always admired everything in the 1290 line (now 1390) from KTM. I'll have to see if I can find one to sit on, they look like a blast! Over the years I've found I'm much more a fan of a big v-twin vs other configurations. I'm on my 13th bike since I was 10 (though I have 3 bikes and a Vespa currently). I got a ways to go! Have a nice day! -Fred
Dang, that was a scary story on the bike. Glad you came out of it relatively unscathed. BTW, my Eray finally got here. Unlike others, we get mild winters so I'll be able to drive it a bit over the winter. I'm very much looking forward to your Lemons racing stories to come. What an obscure problem to find and fix on that car. Was the ECU cutting off fuel or spark or both due to the failed interlock?
Hi Bill! Congrats on the e-ray and great to hear from you! The ECU was cutting spark for sure, but not sure on fuel. I think it was just cutting spark (as we checked the rail a few times and the fuel was under pressure (via the schrader valve on top)). I'm excited to be ramping back up on videos, and definitely will be sharing more about Lemons, and including a lot more action footage as we have it. :) Have a nice day and thanks for reaching out! Also, I"m excited to hear what you think of the e-ray! -Fred
Glad that you are OK and the bike can be fixed. Amazing crash story (sorry, but I had to laugh at how you told the story). Looking forward to future vids.
Artbaer, nice to hear from you! I appreciate it! Haha, I was hoping to make it entertaining/interesting, especially since I can talk about it in hindsight without any serious injury. :)
Hindsight is always less painful😊
Fred. What happened to your plan to get a C8 Z06?
Hi Clay! I mentioned it a video or two ago, but I got the call just after I'd put my notice in at a prior job, and I decided to decline the car. Ultimately it wouldn't have been a good financial decision at that point in time, but even if the money hadn't been a consideration, the biggest reason I passed on the car was of all things, the lack of a manual transmission. I know that probably sounds silly, but I truly love the manual in my C7, and now that I'm doing more trackdays in the car, that involvement is a huge part of my enjoyment. Certainly the C8Z is much faster, but the ceiling of capability in my current car is well beyond my ability (for now). That said, as I alluded to right at the end of my video, I'm in the process of lining up my next car purchase, and will be talking about that soon. If all goes according to plan, my next car will be one of the most raw, fast, and exciting cars you can buy (at any price). As soon as things are a sure thing, then I'll be covering it (I'm still working with the manufacturer on some questions/considerations as there's a big lead time). Have a nice day, thanks for reaching out! -Fred
@ thanks Fred. I always enjoy your excitement and will be listening to your VIDs regardless of the vehicle choice I did purchase a C8 Z06 and many selections were taken from your previous discussions. Was hoping to continue. Regardless, best of luck Cheers
Congrats on the Z06, how do you like it so far? :) What color/spec? I appreciate the support, and have a lot of things coming along which people will hopefully find interesting. I'm ramping back up to more frequent videos as well, finding my stride again!
@ fred. I got the CFM. HTC, 3LZ with the Z07 Aero. Also got the RC8 delivery. I did not go with the Z07 package because I will never track my car, but people seem let down when i tell them it is not a Z07 package. I hate the thought of CCB cost and the excessive wear of the cup 2 R tires, but i think if i had a do over, I would get the Z07 package if only for the bragging rights.
I’m glad to see you’re looking well today. That feeling of not being able to breathe is one of the worst feelings you can ever have!!! Mother and others used to say, if you have a bike and ride it long enough, eventually, you’ll have an incident like yours. Fell Better My Friend!!!
Hey Fred!
Hey Fred
I don't at all get the desire for the engine (actually the plastic engine cover) to be visible. It is kind of like walking around with your zipper down. I find the HTC to be much cleaner looking.
Oh Lord, 🙏🏾✝️☝🏽 Please, let mine be sooner rather than later. TY It's been 7 years since I had to sell my baby, 2006 M-B E55, due to a cycling accident... Serious accident🤕😴😢 But God☝🏽✝️🙌🏾 is good and I'm alive to🥰✝️💪🏽 tell the tale. 63 orbits and after the fire, the❤️🔥 fire still burns, the❤ grows older but never even learns... Son directing me to C7 GS Vette. As an ex MX racer and future kart raceri can tell you that if HP overrides handing you'll go slower than in a more powerful car. If you can't drive a slow car really fast then you have no business driving a fast car because what ends up happening is a fast card gets to the terminal velocity really really quick and it will catch you off guard whether on the street or on the racetrack. I've watched many videos of the different types of Corvettes and almost all the pro drivers come back stay in the grand sport is the best overall package to allow you more speed. A faster machine is always harder to manage, like a 500cc dirt bike. Those are the biggest gnarliest most powerful motocross bike and yet there are times on the 125cc dirt bikes turn faster lap times because the writer is able to bless through the irregularities on the track and carry more corner speed. Truth be told unless you're a drag racer corner speed is everything. I think the ZR1 and the Z06 are better drag race weapons than they are road truck weapons. I'm way old enough to remember when Kawasaki's had unbelievable horsepower and because the handling was so far behind those things kept hurting people. You're less likely to get hurt on four wheels and on two but the concept is exactly the same, if the horsepower overrides the handling you better make them sure you are a pro or guardrails and grass spinning off the track will be the rest of your day. cant wait to see the bimmer on track at a future track day event
Great coverage 🎉👏🏽
I’ve been buying Corvettes my whole life and on more than one occasion Ijust left the top panels (2 back in the day) in my garage. I actually had some serious regrets over this decision more than once, removing the seats and carpet to dry out after being caught a considerable distance from home in some very heavy rain.
Looking to pick one up, or owned of course. Not paying 50k for a car. That's just me. David this video for when i get the NEW love of my life. Thx 4da 411. Safe on the road bruh. 💪🏻😎😎💪🏾
I like that someone can't see any of the engine mods on the HTC. Also, if it starts to rain when you have the top down/removed, you can simply slow down and put the top up without stopping. The big one for me is the looks, I just think the HTC looks much nicer, and even more so with the black top option.
I ordered mine the exact same way. What colour did you pick
Bless me with a one wheel
Fuel, Air, Compression, Spark
Yeah, that's what we're working through.
Race mode for launch control ?
FRED!!! GREAT TO SEE YOU!!! Hope you get your Starting Issue worked out. Is the FUEL FILTER “Good” & Properly Installed in the Right Direction? I had a 1973 Cuda that the Voltage Regulator was giving me problems. I know it was replaced 3 times. What was worse, I had terrible luck with the Bypass Hose. It went out at least 4 times. I ended up carrying Duct Tape, Tools, Hose Clamps and an Extra Bypass Hose and a gallon jug of Antifreeze. After the 3rd replacement, I needed a dependable car, so I got an Off the Showroom Floor 1975 Silver Trans Am. That car got me faithfully back and forth to Main Campus at Penn State. But I did get pulled over by a State Cop for passing an 18 wheeler at about 15-20 mph over the speed limit. He was nice and gave me a warning. Wish I could have kept that 1973 Lemon! I got an email today from MacMulkin advising me they had some allocations and I should submit my build to them. I’m at 403 on their Wait List, but I’m really not in any hurry to get a ZO6. I’d like to see the pricing on the ZR1. I’m still Number One at my local Dealership on their Wait List for both the ZO6 and the ZR1. The chance they will get a ZR1 is pretty slim. Again, great you had some time to do a Video. Looks like that racing would be fun, but as I recall you are around 6’ 4” or better, so you’d be a tight fit. Take care and enjoy the weather while it lasts. I’m off to Aruba for a week pretty soon. Nice place to vacation! You should try it sometime in the future.
Good to hear from you. Love your stories!
Glad to be back at it! I've got some cool stuff coming soon.
So excited to see that you are back! I'm particularly intrigued by your "next fast car" project. As for me, I'm pretty jazzed about the Eray now in my garage and getting it ready for autocrossing in '25. 🙂
Glad to be back, and that's great to hear! Autocrossing in that will be awesome.
Welcome back Fred!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Fred - We missed you! Your car build issues are a pain, but I am sure you will get it sorted. Next race season will be a blast. Looking forward to you future vids.
Thank you! Yeah, I'm hopeful we figure it out soon, but the good news is the car is done so we're *literally* ready to race (minus the non-starting). That said, there's a couple big things brewing for me, the channel, and some other things, so I'm excited to share soon!
Freddy…. Let’s go… looking good. Any kind of car or plane project I just add 2 years.
Haha, that's honestly a good rule of thumb! Great to hear from you! Stay tuned for some cool stuff from my side!
@@FredsFullThrottle you only do 2 things. 1 really cool, 2nd chicken out of a Z06. lol. Lined up for a ZR1. Got to sell a house to get it. I’m in Key West. Fred it’s the best. Get here with your Toyota it is FF 2024. They all look better than us. Great you posted. I learned a ton from you.
heeeessssss back!
Haha, thanks man, yup! Honestly I'm in a better place in my head, and have a bunch of exciting things going on. Talk to you soon man!
To the cheeps to the expensive that generation of corvette is just kind of perfect. And 400hp is good enough to enjoy it and have fun.
Nice work Fred, hope you remember me (Rashid) 💻
I do, hope you're doing well!
They are similar priced right now and im also leaning towards the grand sport. I dont need the extra 200hp for a car that corners exactly the same
Sure coming from a guy who does this for a living . Haahaa
I dont see no one here mentioned how much depreciation Grand Sport has over any Z06. Waste of money overall. Z06 carries value and doesnt depreciate as much.
Keep in mind my intent was to own the car long term, and I still have it, 7 years later. I don't care about depreciation personally, but you may want to check your numbers there champ. The Z06's started at a significantly higher price than the GS, and now for an M7 GS vs Z, the price difference is sub $10k in a lot of cases. That means a higher percentage depreciation for the Z. Long term, I'd imagine the manual cars will hold their value just fine thank you very much, considering there's already a 6-8k premium on manual GS's over autos.
I bought my GS new in 2017 for $65k. Just sold it a few months ago for $60k. What are smoking? The Z06 and GS are the EXACT same car with the exception of the supercharger.
Got xpel on my Ranger’s hood instead of an ugly looking, leaf catching, needs holes made, stone deflector.
Listening to this video with $20k worth of debt is depressing
Sorry! I've been there myself, and it takes time to dig out. Best of luck, you can do it!
Fords ppf is 400 before install fees. it’s not the whole car but it’s several portions so I’m wondering what kind of crap they are using lol
The only con is price. I’ve had several 911 GT3s. The Z07 Z06 package in tour mode is a much more comfortable ride than the GT3. The tour mode is pure heaven for riding
I noticed you had your Corvette delivered to your residence. Do you recall what they charged? You said you were a couple of states away. I am in Vermont. Just curious what the charge was. Thanks in advance.
Hi Roger, It was free, I'm in NH, about 30 min from MacMulkin. That said, I think their price to ship anywhere in the US is about $2k. They mention on their website they can ship, and I believe it mentions the company they use. I did a section in a video on it a while ago, but don't remember which video. I remember though that I thought it was pretty reasonable for the value of the cars they sell. Mine was not typical, they delivered it on a MM branded service truck, versus a separate company. Probably within a certain distance is free, but beyond that you may have to use a carrier. I will say that I've talked to several people who have shipped from MM, and they said the cars arrived in perfect condition, and very good care was taken to keep the car immaculate.
I was just watching your video on how you could afford your Corvette. I was wondering if they charged you for the delivery? And if they did, what did they charge? And what state did they deliver it to? Thanks in advance.
Just responded to your other comment. I live in NH (same state as MM) and it was free for me. Further, and they use a shipping company, but I believe it's no more than a couple thousand.
I’m just wondering what did they charge you for delivery? And what state did they deliver it to?
I owned the Stingray coupe and traded for HTC. Aside from all pros for HTC, the biggest difference for me was 'injector ticking noise'. HTC eliminates it with the plastic cover and the lid on top of the engine! I also hear the exhaust better by lowering the rear window compared to coupe. Wonder if this is the case for Z06 too, appreciate Z06 coupe owners comments⁉
good to see you back!!
Do you know what each seat weighs?
