      Thanks Ken,
I find it quite frustrating. TBH I don't watch or follow more than one or two Vette channels for exactly that reason. In fact, a big part of what motivated me to cover Corvette's more directly last year, was because I couldn't get simple, honest, fact based info that I was curious about. I was like, "well, if I'm already getting the info myself, why not share with others?".

@@Brooks22n I don't think Tony was saying specifically that the 5 mile limit rocks. I think he was saying he loves the car, and appreciated me (separately) explaining the 5 mile limit. For those who want further EV range, I'm sure that will come with other cars, but again, the E-Ray is a performance hybrid, specifically not intended as an efficiency hybrid.

@@Brooks22n You sound like you are comparing the E-Ray to a Tesla, in which case that would be a faulty comparison. 5 miles of Stealth Mode is an added bonus to the E-Ray that already rocks. It also affords you the comfort of not waking up neighbors in those tight communities. If a fully EV Corvette comes out, I will not buy it. So enjoy your Tesla and pro tip: don't park it in your garage. 🚒🚔

The sign is remarkably nice. I don't think he could have done it better...I have done a little sign work myself though not neon.
MacMulkin didn't help me much on the reservation even though having been on the "interest list" for close to a year. Everyone got the same notice and chance to charge out of the gate at the same time. I'm far back on the Z06 list but disappointed that the E-Ray is virtually the same price despite, heavier, outside exhaust, no high wing option (if you want it), summer tires extra if not the carbon flash trim as well. Of course the less exotic engine. I will say I like the wheels more than I expected and it would be nice to cruise to Starbucks or downtown on battery power.
Fred, it sounds like you have a car that makes you happy and the garage would provide some real utility you would like to have. Maybe keep the slot at MM but when the time comes, ask if they might push you to the back of the bus and see what things look like then. By that time, you may have found other interests or see a market change or by good fortune found your way to get that new Corvette.

Hey Fred- Nice job, as always. I think you're on the mark with the ERay. My biggest issue with my C7Z is traction, it has been since day one. ERay uniquely solves that issue. I would have liked to see 2 separate motors in the front, but with computer technology and CCB, I'm confident that GM can make it hook up. I think this is the go-to car for anyone who is not tracking the car. I have 2 issues/ questions. Does anyone have thoughts on battery life?? And in the GM ads I've heard them talking about it as a Touring Coupe, so I'm wondering if they won't warranty track use?. One last thing, I hear a semi-reliable rumor that MacMulkin is getting +/- 20 Z06's a month. Let's up they can up that number, and have enough bodies for the ERay :)

Firstly, kudos for calling out all the "click-bait" videos. Like you I am getting sick of that and when I see something that on the surface sounds over-the-top I will not watch the video.
Regarding to E-Ray, I think it is the better option for the street, so for those who will not track the Z06 that is the way to go.
I put down my deposit for the Z06 Sep 2020 and as you know at MSRP. I was #244, now #161. Since my primary purpose is getting back to Road Atlanta, I am even more excited after see Lightening Laps where the Z06 was faster than the ZR1. However, if I was in your shoes with a C7 I love, plus having an outlet for racing with a team for 24 hour events, I may use that $100K+++ elsewhere like you discussed.

Thanks for the support, and the insight. I'll always love the Z (regardless of what I do), but with my ideal build coming in at ~$137k, there's a lot of fun I could have by splitting that up. That's what I'm trying to figure out. Thankfully though, I feel a bit relieved that I've decided to keep the C7. It's so wonderful, and my track itch will be scratched with the Lemons team. I will keep everyone posted, but I appreciate you saying you'd consider the same. I haven't been real confident about how the ideas would be received, especially on a Corvette-heavy channel like mine, but it's nice to know that it won't alienate everyone if I decide not to get it. :)

I'll make you a deal. I will cover anything I hear on the ZR1, once it gets past the rumor mill phase. Rewind a year or two ago, and that's sort of what the E-Ray or Z06 was as well. If you look back at some of the statements that many made "as fact", many of them turned out to be way off base. Since I try to be as accurate/truthful as possible, I've stayed away from even mentioning the car, because nothing is really known about it (or the Zora). I'm sure as you alluded to with TheStraightPipes (very nice guys btw!, I've chatted a little with them a while ago online), when you're at an event and can talk to the engineers, you likely get a bit more "unofficial" info than people like me. I saw those same comments, but can't really comment on them because I have no idea how true (or not) they may be. Though of Jacob/Yuri actually got that from the engineers, then I'd say it's likely pretty accurate. :)

I believe the E-Ray is going to be a phenomenal performance car/hybrid. It's interesting to think about this performance sports car hybrid and some people's online comments mentioning it's hybrid range isn't far enough 🤦
I just love the fact that I was concerned about the possibility of losing its hybrid performance feature during track time or very spirited driving situations. Then GM releases the information about, the safety features built-in which will never allow the loss of the AWD during those situations as the batteries will never drain below a certain% so the performance will be there! Anyway, you know my take from my most excellent experience at Macmulkin's overnight E-Ray allocation tailgate party...ha ha ha!
So about your car and garage situation! Build your garage my friend! The value to your house will grow and the use of it is greatly needed!

      Hi Shane
Good Luck with the great opportunity you have to get an early ERAY!!!
#24 should be a great place in line.
My Stingray just had a 1 year old Birthday 2/14/2023.
I’m thinking about an ERAY but as you and Fred know, my health may play a part in making a decision.
I was thinking about getting in line at MM, but supposedly I’m #1 in line at my local dealership where I got my Stingray. That is, if I can believe the Corvette Salesperson and the dealership gets an ERAY allocation.
They even said they will sell at MSRP. I guess when/if the time comes, we’ll see!
      Question for you?
Do you have any idea how long CCBs will last?
You know, the expectation a person has doing regular driving, not a lot of abuse on CCBs, but typical daily driving?
Noteworthy, is that living in PA, we have a “Driving Season”. Once winter hits in November or December the PA DOT and Township Highway Department start putting stones, salt and anti-skid material on the roads and that lasts until Cleanup in April or May…. Stones are pretty much gone from the roads!
The thought of replacing those CCBs at what I recently heard at around $20,000 is frightening.
In fact, some are saying that the CCBs have a lot of screech to them and the unsprung weight isn’t going to be that noticeable. Any thoughts on that?

@@kerry_glock Hey great to hear from you for sure!
I don't have any documents, nor have I done any research into this topic heavily, but from my understanding, the CCB's are almost a lifetime style brake system for most Corvette owners "normal usage".
Heavy daily driving and track usage would wear on them for sure, but under normal typical Corvette driving conditions, they should last with no problems.
Added driving, spirited driving, and occasional track days, like my intended use of the car will be, I expect the pads will need to be changed out more often, but the rotors should last!
I do some detailed research for a better answer, unless Fred jumps in with his wealth of knowlege!

Fred, great presentation as usual. I am probably one of the few that is disappointed in GM's design of the E-Ray as a performance vs. battery-assisted economical C8. I certainly agree with you that GM has a huge price gap between the ST and E-Ray that a Grand Sport wold fit in nicely. Especially for those of us that do not need or want 655 hp and a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds. My 19 GS provides all of the excitement and joy I could want. I would certainly consider replacing it with a C8 GS.
Given your comments about a new garage and different vehicles to play with, I suggest you skip the Z06 and go for the garage and different toys. Good luck.

My biggest problem with the E Ray is the range on electric mode. I understand the combination of gas and gas increases the hp and quickness. For that reason I would select the Z06. To of your comment on your thoughts about the future of your C7. I would build the garage for the C7 and the Z06. Make the garage as big as you can and that includes the interior height. My five car is about three years old and I am already running out of space. I enjoy your video's.

I doubt this adds any insight but I see your plight as I'm on the opposite end of your situation. I have my 3 car garage with a lift that holds my 88 porsche 944 that is almost done becoming a 948 with a c5 5.7L ls1 swap in it 5sp manual. And have my daily as scion frs with many mods including a turbo also 5 spd.
As such I've done my big conversion project and having a flat plane crank bought beauty next to my builds would really round it out.

Thanks for reaching out. I really do think this adds insight (and is helpful)! The more I think about it, the more I realize that I truly do need more space for fun cars (with a Z or not), and agree that having multiple different fun cars seems like a great route to go. Big congrats on having that kind of space already, and a stable of awesome cars! Any pics of the 948? :) Would love to hear more about the swap, challenges you ran into, honestly anything you want to share. Feel free to drop me a line at fredsfullthrottle@gmail.com. I'd even be interested in sharing the story of it on the channel if you provide enough info/pics. I'm really interested in doing something cool like that when I build the garage, and see projects like that as inspiration!
I do agree that having a spectrum of cars sounds like the best of all worlds. I'm with you on having more space, some lifts, and actually doing some work/customization/builds seems like a good direction to go. First, for fun/enjoyment for me, but also for everyone who watches to follow along, and be a part of the journey!
Haha, your comment started out sounding like you didn't think you had much to add, but honestly, comments like this are frequently the most helpful (for me to sort out my thoughts/ideas), as well as the most interesting for me. I appreciate you taking the time!

My garage is limited to 14 feet width due to the 10 foot side-setback of my property; but it will be 22 feet in depth and include a lift. I'm building a guest bedroom above with a balcony to the back (to enjoy the golf course view.) The lift is a sled type lift made by Auto Stacker. The lift allows access for oil changes and broadly distributes the load on the garage floor slab rather than point loading the slab (which occurs with 2 or 4 post lifts.) I'll send you the plan.

@@7gear642 Sounds like a great location (by the golf course!). Like you, I have to work within some property boundary constraints, but I think I'll be able to get away with something like 28wide by 30deep. I'll have to re-run the quotes, and see. I was torn between single bay vs double, but obvious preference being double. I'm leaning towards a Bendpak 4 post on one side, and then over time if I need a second lift, I'd consider a 2 post for working on cars without weight on the suspension.

Re: the Z06 reservation. I appreciate the offer, but have to pass. Were there a way to help you or other subscribers get the car sooner, even at the expense of my own reservation, without it negatively impacting others farther back in line, I would. The problem is that many have waited similar amounts of time that I have, and I don't think it would be fair to them for someone to skip the end of the line. Kind of the same idea that I wouldn't buy the car, just to flip it. I know some people are making silly money on the car doing that (who knows if 2-3 years from now it'll command any kind of premium), but as someone who frequently speaks out against flippers, gougers, dealer markups, and similar, I can't in good conscience gouge anyone. Even though it might make me money, I personally don't feel it would be the right thing to do.
I hope you understand, and please know that if I could help others without a downside, I would do it in a heartbeat, but I can't figure out a way that that could happen. Hope that makes sense.

      Hi Scott,
Thanks for reaching out, and I appreciate the sub!
I got mine directly from the press kit info from Chevy, as well as MT: www.motortrend.com/news/2024-chevrolet-corvette-e-ray-hybrid-awd-weight/#:~:text=The%20drop%2Dtop%20version%20of,3%2C890%20pounds%2C%20according%20to%20Chevy.
Apologies if I misquoted, though I'm wondering if all other fluids (coolant, transmission fluid, oil, etc..) could add to that?
One quick clarification, the CCB's don't contribute to the regen on the braking. If you haven't driven a performance hybrid or EV before (I don't know your background so apologies if you have), regen doesn't involve the mechanical brakes at all. Instead, the driveline is still connected to the electric motors, which put resistance on the drivetrain to slow the car (by spinning the electric motor). When an electric motor doesn't have power introduced to it from the power source (battery/capacitor/etc...), it actually generates power via induction (the motor's magnets spinning relative to the wire coils inside the outer housing, turning the kinetic energy of the car into current by spinning the motor). I'm oversimplifying a bit, but that's the gist of it.
When you press on the brakes (in an EV or performance hybrid), in most applications, what happens *first* is regen is used. So the electric motor is allowed to freewheel (more or less). The amount of resistance that the motor puts against the drivetrain/wheels (IE, how much regen stopping power), is controlled by how much power is introduced to the system by the battery. If you want full regen, no (or almost no) electricity is introduced by the battery. The more power introduced, the less resistance the motor provides, and the less is regenerated.
In cars I've driven with such a system, the first "x percent" of pedal travel feels a bit different than normal brakes, but after a little bit, you acclimate to it. Through this point, the actual brake calipers in the car do not touch the rotors.
However, press the pedal further, and (depending on the car), you enter a "hybrid" brake mode, where you may be getting full regen, as well as some additional "help" from the brakes. Not all cars have this.
Press harder still (or if a car doesn't have the above intermediate mode), you switch over to full brake. No regen is developed, and you get maximum braking force, completely from the brakes. To my knowledge (which may not be complete), I think most EV's operate this way, as well as some performance hybrids. Regen has limits as most motors have a maximum operating RPM, which is why beyond a certain point they have the "brake only" mode.
My read on charge plus is that it is just a "maximum regen" mode for the E-Ray. Tesla's and other EV's/hybrids have adjustable regen as well, though in this car versus them, it sounds like regen is tied to the pedal, rather than available as a "lift off" option where letting go of the gas causes regen and slowdown, for true one pedal driving.
Anyway, sorry for the novel there, but hope that clarifies! Also, congrats on the low number with your local dealership!
      Have a nice day!

Always nice to hear from you! I'm thrilled you got your car! Sounds like you like it! If you have time, please drop me an email, would love to hear your impressions. :)
I do agree that production capacity seems to be one of the biggest challenges right now, and unless they drop the standard C8 production numbers, they're going to be way out on fulfilling orders for the Z or E-ray's. I've touched on it in a prior video or two, but I don't have much data to go on for diving in deep on it.
I appreciate the support and appreciate that the every other week format isn't scratching that itch. What I will tell you is that I do plan to have a few out-of-band videos come out this year (once driving season starts), to fill in that gap. I can't manage it frequently (I'm busier than I've ever been in my life with work, lemons, personal life, travel, etc...), but I'll do my best. Either way, I do really appreciate that you enjoy my videos so much, that means a lot! Let's agree to disagree about what's most important.
That first statement isn't confirmed or stated by Chevy as far as I'm aware, just speculation by people which isn't something I'm going to give oxygen to. It may turn out to be right, but I've seen many similar claims about the Z06, and so far most of them have been wrong.
The second point isn't true at MacMulkin, which I mention right at the start, they only do MSRP on new Corvettes, full stop. The line currently isn't that long, so it's still possible to be early in the allocations. I started my video with that statement, one of the first things I mentioned, but I digress.
