Justin seems like a really nice and humble guy. Expressed himself well in his feelings on both the cars. I think the main advantage for the F8 is it weighs a lot less than the Z06. Vettes were pretty light with the C6 zo6 , the C5 and for sure the C4 generation weighed roughly around 3100 lbs.

You are quoting the dragtimes article in his garage. Either A. , Ferrari is lying or B., his scales are off. Based on the MFG is what i quoted.
@@redtesta The dry weight of the F8 coupe is 3163lbs, because Dragtimes RUclips channel shows 3453lbs on the scales with a 1/2 tank of fuel. The lightest coupe C8 Z06 has a dry weight of 3434lbs and curb weight of approxamatly 3673lbs. That's a 220lbs/100kg differance.
When the ZR1 comes out, its going to be insane.

As far as the Z06 being a daily car, I think the Z06 would be an amazing daily with the normal summer tires, non-z07 with 3LZ in one of the more tour-y drive modes. The fully specced out most aggressive mode Z06 sure sounds like a lot of fun to drive or track, but I don't think I could survive being in a car that loud and aggressive for more than an hour or two of commuting, but I guess that's why there are different modes.

Holy sh*t this content is insane. Just insane. Feels like I'm in the cars with you guys having all those visceral experience. Love both cars but man, that Z06 C8 is just a monster. An American supercar that finally can play in the sandbox with the big boys.
I think, the better overall comparison for f8 would probably be the non Z07 package Z06. 🤔 but still love both cars 😍🔥 always been a fan of corvettes(especially the c8, ugghh) and ferraris, and will never change.

I don’t think they are trying to be Ferrari. They are putting out the best V8 while Ferrari has been forced to my hybrid 6 cylinders 😢 Ferrari is becoming a different company and it’s tragic! EVs are not as thrilling as enteral combustion engines. I’m a super Ferrari fan but going forward I just don’t like them having to abandon real engines. I’m fine with them making the new tech. Every company has to evolve to stay alive I’m just sad this is what it’s come to. Honestly Fuck Europe and their BS environmental tyranny!

On the F8, it sounded like you were loosing traction as you all were getting it on. Same for the Z06, breaking traction based on the exhorted. This is very cool having the owners of both cars involved in the review. Both individuals give what appears to be straight forward honest appraisal of both vehicles, and both cars are spectacular.
I honestly like the Z06 more design wise. If they were priced the same, z06 being more or the Ferrari being less, I’d still pick the Z06. I feel like when they are this close in performance, you’re just paying for the Ferrari name which doesn’t matter much to me. Obviously the Ferrari will hold its value better over time but as far as ownership, the Vette wins for me. In reality, it’s a no brainer due to the performance value. But regardless, it’s a mute point because I can’t afford either 😅

the price reflects the fact that the Ferrari is hand made with superior quality components. im not a huuge fanboy of Ferrari cuz the company is an asshole to people but they are not just a name. IF they lacked technology advancement then why Chevy go for a high reving NA engine and why didnt Ferrari go with a OHV engine?
I’ve got a C8 HTC Z51 and I hope one day to get the Z06. Always wanted a Ferrari but to be truthful now I’m happy with the Corvette especially for the price for performance.

Ok. Totally inconsequential belief here: the blue color is simply amazing, and that's coming from a guy who does not like blue. Overall, my vote is for the Vette, as it is so involving and quick. Also, NOTHING COMPARES TO A N/A ENGINE. NOTHING!!!! Why no supercharging? I know the downsides to this application, but it provides tremendous Hp, great whining sound, and allows the exhaust to sing it's great tunes.
To me, regardless of price, I'd still choose the Vette, although I'm not historically a Vette guy. I'm a Porsche guy. The presentation was really good, so kudos to, Justin. Be Well & Go In Peace. Jeff
@speed phenom just stumbled across your videos as I am a Vette owner. I knew things looked familiar but then when I saw you pull into the Cielo neighborhood and drive along Del Dios I knew exactly where you were! Are you based in San Diego? Do you go to RSF for cars and coffee?
The ferrari has a turbo. That's not a fair match. Ferrari doesn't like that Chevy made a 670hp V8 which out performs their NA V8 engine.
I think both cars are priced right. My personal choice would be the Ferrari for the refinement and top speed. It seemed to do the speed so effortlessly, as if you could drive it daily. Cabin seemed comfortable etc. But I think the Z06 is definitely worth the money to. So both do what should be expected.
Why didn't you put the suspension in a softer mode to show your friend how civilized the Z06 can be?
He experienced the different modes, including auto, off camera.
The Z06 will not get anywhere near the refinement of the suspension of the F8.
@@AB-80X The standard C8 Z06 has softer suspension, and softer sidewalled tires.
@@gen1c8rs88 Yes, but it is still quite a bit stiffer. And as for tyres, well that's just a matter of what you fit it with. Also, I havde used plenty of both Cup 2 and Cup 2R tyres, and the sidewall stiffness is virtually identical.
Besides, if memory serves, the regular MPS4S and regular Cup 2 for the C8 are both Zero Pressure tyres, whereas the Cup 2R is not. Those definitely have a very stiff sidewall.
At any rate, in my experience with the C8 Z51 and C8 Z06, the latter is definitely stiffer. The regular C8 is about as soft as a base 992 C4. The Z06 is on par with a Mercedes AMG GTR. The difference is noticeable to say the least.

Half mile is were the f8 will pull away! More hp and a lot lighter ! I'd take the z though! Love my vettes!
I think the vette with wide rear rubber would take of quicker with traction but half way down the quarter you will see the f8 starting to gain the z and finishes a car or 2 lengths in front and if a half mile the f8 would pull away more! But the z natural aspiration less hp and heavier that's real impressive!
@mareewalker1096 it's a 500lb difference between the two, and the Z06 has a much wider torque band, so it will have the best acceleration in the 3k-6k range, while the F8 should pull ahead in acceleration once they both reach 6k and higher, I suspect a better launch in the z06 with rhe F8 slowly pulling and finishing with a higher trap speed. Though on the track it's certainly no contest, the Z06 will eat it alive

I can almost guarantee you that the F8 isn't 500lbs lighter.
Automotive engineering is about competition, and you may like Ferrari but the Z06 wins hands down. Not to say the F8 isnt a dream car, but is it worth TWO Z06s with a Z07 package? The F8 lines up nicely with a NON Z07 package Z06. The only way these cars can actually be compared is on track, but on looks alone GM is ringing Ferraris bell all day long. Great series on the Z06, and so far its the only one in the world that goes into this depth. The other you tubers with the Z06 are simply unable to deliver this level of content.
That's purely personal opinion. The F8 has time and time again being praised for its looks. Not really sure the same can be said for the Z06.
We'll see what's what when the times start to tick in. But remember this. An F8 is about 7 seconds faster around Laguna Seca than a C8 Z51, both driven by Randy Pobst. That's a lot of ground to cover for the Z06.

If I got the Z06 , it would need a diet and some twin charging . I'd say to the tune of 155 more hp and not so much more on the torque side if possible. Too much torque means more wheel spin and spinning ain't winning.

No... Not even close... The artisanal body work on the Ferrari is something else. The C8 looks like a GTA car. Awfully oversized backend and a silly amount of apendages and cresses everywhere. Design cues straight out of a transformers movie...

excellent video, here in Mexico where I live, in the 1/4 mile they played an F8 and a taycan and the taycan won most of the time, but the design of the F8 is superior
Nothing handles like a Ferrari. The geometry is beyond perfect. The Z06 is no doubt built with GM components, maybe some shared, maybe not, but GM's geometry for sure. GM might be getting close to the performance of a Ferrari, but, the smoothness and the precise handling of a Ferrari does it for me.

I think the term “piped in exhaust” refers to when they make your sound system produce the exhaust note of a bigger engine to make you feel “better”

I would take the Ferrari all day. The build quality, heritage and looks are so much better than the Chevy. Also, in 5 years the Ferrari will definitely hold more of its value…..
Build quality? The Ferrari is as good as the C8. As for heritage, General Motors has been around for a century, Ferrari hasn't.

The upshifts and downshifts sound incredible on the C8 ZO6. The exhaust notes are raw and visceral.
Just imagine if Chevrolet makes a V12 ZO6 Corvette. That would be legendary, a collectible masterpiece, a golden horse in this millennia.
The piped-in noise from the actual engine isn't so much an issue -- it's more so the fake engine sound coming from the car speakers that people don't like.

Yeah. Ferrari did a much beter job with the "hot pipe" technology. The Z06 sounds odd.
GM bought a Ferrari 458, picked it apart. Then bought a Ferrari 488, and then another 458. Corvette always did this. Buy Ferraris to see if they could copy their performance cheaper. They never used to tell people that. Because its a bit embarrassing. But now.... They have decided to go all-out and BRAG about their car being a cheap plastic Ferrari knockoff. Which is just weird.
I so wish GM would put a simple timeless interior together like the F8 and the Bugatti. The interior of the F8 is just better for the type of car these 2 are, and I love everything else about the Z06. If GM put an F8 interior into the Z06 it would be the perfect driver's car period! Coming from someone who has always loved the sound of cammed LS/LT GM engines, I have fallen in love with the Z06 engine. The sound of the Z06 is absolutely intoxicating.

Why hasn't anyone else started testing the z06 against all its competition. We've been waiting since this car came out to see some battles. Seems like the same thing happened with the GT40
Only person that I’ve seen do a little bit of testing is Emilia Hartford against the huracan evo and 458 and the zo6 smoked both
I think that the fact that a Chevy is being side by side compared to a Ferrari and you can’t come up with a clear winner clearly shows who the winner is!
F8 leaves a lot to be desired when driving it. I city drove a spider and wasn't impressed. Just as soulless as the 488 I drove. I haven't yet drove a C8 Z06 but if it's anything like the 458 I also drove, its gonna steal my heart.

The Corvette usees "pleather" and lots of plastic, the Ferrari uses leather, has no rattles and REAL carbon fiber. Also glad that the Ferrari does not have that hideous screen other tacked on bits like the C8 does.

185k…..350k…… after seeing this review and obviously having never driven either car, I couldn’t justify spending $165k more on the Ferrari. Even though it’s a “Ferrari”, that name doesn’t hold the same water over Corvette anymore in my opinion.
Well, then you should try living with the Ferrari. See that's part of what defines an exotic and a supercar. Something that is worth more than the sum of its parts.

The Ferrari brand name given this specific comparison of cars doesn’t seem worth the difference… over RUclips I know lol but you get what I’m saying.
@@me-tx2ws We still don't know exactly how the Z06 will perform on a track. We do however already know how its straight line numbers stack up, and there the F8 is much faster.
But here's some food for thought. Randy Pobst have driven the C8 Z51 pack car around Laguna Seca. He has also driven the F8 with the older MPSS K3 tyres on it which were the predecessor to the MPS4S. The C8 was fitted with the newer MPS4S. The F8 was over seven seconds faster - that's a lot on a sub 1.40 track. My point being that this is a lot of time to reel in for the Z06. Now imagine if that F8 was on CF wheels and the Pista spec Cup 2 R boots like top tier Z07. The Z07 will be a sharp car for sure and very capable, but it's a LOT to ask for a car that is heavier and has less torque.
Love the Ferrari F8 Tributo, however, after seeing/listening/watching it alongside the C8 Z06, I like the Z06 much more - can't believe I am writing this. The Z06 looks and sounds like a supercar. The Triboto is for someone that wants to be seen driving a Ferrari - love that about it too. The Z06 is very much a visceral racecar, and it makes my blood boil. I've got to have one please!!!
Keep one thing in mind. Quite a bit of that in-cabin Z06 sound is artificial sound from the speakers. If you ever get to drive one, I'm sure that like many others, you'll find it to be sounding quite odd.
@@AB-80X That is not true. There is no exhaust sound coming from the speakers. The exhaust pipe design uses an innovative parabolic design exhaust tip, like a trumpet, to diffuse and direct some of the sound waves towards the cabin so that the occupants can enjoy the sound too.
The new C8 is a great sports car, but let's get serious---there's no comparing it to Ferrari

I like both cars but the Corvette has the overall concept of the exotic car look and styling. But the front end look like there was an after thought with add on front splitter. The front face doesn't follow smoothly. The face should look sculpted with smooth follow lines. The side panel started off with the right idea but then something happened. The black molding also look like an after thought. It doesn't follow with the design. Now the rear end has the signature Corvette rear tail lights. The rear end and the engine bay look like attention to quality and detail wasn't in the budget. Although I love the interior design and engine speaks volume. The attention to detail, quality, fit and finish of the cars design is lacking. The Ferrari exemplifies fit finish and quality. Although the Ferrari may be $100,000 more but look what you get. You get a exculpted machine that's a instant classic. Not to take anything away from the Corvette but there are a lot areas for improvements.
The new Z06 is just a 458 clone, but without the coolness of being a Ferrari. All GM did was backwards engineer the 458 engine and added a liter to the displacement. Corvette owners are so thirsty to get the approval of Ferrari owners.

They didn't buy a 458, Ferrari wouldn't sell them one. Ended buying a 458 engine from an ebayer in Poland.
Insane, didn't even realize I lost an entire half hour to so much amazing review compare/contrast of these two beauties. Very honest and detailed. Lot of editing and work into that much video Austin, well done. Still holding my breath for you hitting the track with this supercar. Also I think a stripped out minimalist 1LZ is a fantastic track idea similar to the 911R. Maybe brand it the ZR6 or Z06R with 1RZ trim.

@@kevin-qc7zv hah! Yeah by no means was that a complaint, in fact quite the opposite and a compliment to Austin in that the content was so riveting I lost track of time.
It would interesting to compare a Corvette with the 07 package against one without it and see the difference in high-speed acceleration. IMHO, both are majestic cars in their own right. The Corvette may be rough around the edges but the value for money is absolutely ridiculous. It is not an apples-to-apples comparison but, it is just unavoidable not to do it.

Z06 looks better in my eyes and sounds waaaaay better. The 488 looked better than the F8 imo.
