I'm a Mustang guy, but the C8 is the first Corvette that I've wanted more than any Mustang. As much as I like the car in general, it is the engine that impresses me the most by far. Very well done video!
@@francisdrelling4060 I've seen RUclips videos that show that the C8 Stingray is a pretty close match for the GT500 in the quarter mile, with 165 less horse power..
Cool stuff! A corvette that gives the driver the best of both worlds, it's great on the track but also an everyday driving vehicle. Thanks for sharing captain.
Not surprised about the noise, what I would try is setting the “Z” Button to effectively be track mode but with the quietest exhaust it’ll allow. From what I recall the C7 cars and I think the C8 Stingray as well the manual does not recommend track driving in anything but the loudest exhaust, but for something short like the straight at Laguna Seca between turns 5 & 6 where the sound station is it might work. Awesome video though and thanks for sharing!
Exceeding dB limits is exactly why the Z06 should have a dedicated exhaust valve button, or at least a programmable noise level in your custom drive mode. Could you elaborate on the engine overspeed? You glossed over it but I'm curious what Chevy had to say about it. Much appreciated!
Austin, Excellent video and information! Very interesting about the Db levels and tracking of the car! I never realized the limitations there. This will be a huge chance for the aftermarket companies to further reducing the weight and now decibels, so we can fully enjoy the track experience! What I found interesting is Chevy's choice of going straight pipe exhaust vs H or X pipe 🤔
Speed Phenom Awesome Video I think the All new C8 Z06 sounds like it will be an absolutely incredible track car and I think tracks should stop limiting how much Noise is allowed
If the track was made before residential property was in close proximity to the track could the city/county/state say no to 50,000 suburban household's tax income; no they wouldn't. Would a track want to pay the 50,000 suburban household's taxes, no they wouldn't. The Idealistic solution would be outside the city limits with a 1 mile diameter track complex, and a 1 mile wide circle around the track's property of industrial zoned property for a sound buffer zone by distance and building breaking up sound(3 miles total diameter). More tax revenue and 125 Db sound limit.
Wait a minute? (7:36) After production, the virgin LT6 engine is DYNO tested at; "Full load and High Speed?" What does this mean in relation to a proper break in procedure? Does this initial test harm the engine? Why then is my initial 500 miles limited, if the factory is punishing the engine prior to my use? I just don't understand? Please Advise!
i hope when chevy make these z06 and zr1 they make the interior unique to each model, make them different inside and the lights so u can tell which is which,
When GM focuses on a target they hit dead center. But why that level of dedication and commitment doesn’t cascade to all their products? A masterpiece of an engine on a beautiful mid-engine chasis but too late.
The 5.5 flat plane crank engine is proven in endurance racing. and that is why the LT6 wont share the same problems as the Mustang flat plane crank engine.
From all the spy shots that’ve been going around, the zr1 is already done. GM was driving the Z06 around (in the video we are watching) in camo testing it against a few other cars and another vette in camo…which most think is the ZR1 because the bark out back was completely different.
The first secret is less torque/displacement and more weight is slower, not faster. Rated HP is irrelevant, every car has infinite HP at high RPM and zero HP at zero RPM. HP = Torque x RPM.
Excuse me, you who know more about sports cars, I want to know if you can help me get a 2021 corvett 6.2 L V8 for 60,000 US. I speak Spanish I do not understand English I did this for the translator. I live in California
"Most powerful production V8 to date"? No. That title belongs to the 755 BHP LT5 used in the C7 ZR1. However, as you know, that's with forced induction (supercharged). That said, the dual clutch A/T in the C8 is a significant improvement.
@@heshxfit I'm well aware of the fact the C8 is NA. However, I wasn't responding in that context. I was instead referring to the statement: "Most powerful production V8 to date" verses: 'Naturally aspirated production V8 to date'. After all, this is the Inet, therefore I HAD to be 'right'! ;)

Totally agree. After 4 performance Fords, including 2 Mustangs, I’m now a C8 Stingray owner. No regrets.
Same!!! Lol. Gonna sell my stang and get that Z06!
Check out the Shelby Speedster. But, again, the problem is the inability to get all that power to the road for launch.

This car promises to be a engineering masterpiece regardless of brand.
Most powerful performing Flat Plane Crank V-8 love it!
ok thank you for sharing a dyno chart, the first Ive seen it
Great information! Thanks Austin, for a great job. You and I are both looking forward to the best day ever!
This was a AWESOME & VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEO!! So glad u got the scoop!! ZO6 coming my way!!🤩
That was super informative! You are a corvette and car SAVANT! Can't wait till you get yours! Then track time! Maybe a drag strip review also!
I think the dry sump will help with oil use, a dry sump works kinda like a vacuum pump.Stops a lot of blow buy from going out valve cover breathers.

Nice video, I enjoyed the conversational aspect. Definitely lots of info here.

Come to Sebring.... it's in the middle of no where, never even heard of a decibel limit there.
is there any way we can download that slideshow?
Really great video. You asked them so great questions. You really are doing a great job!
Where can I watch the 3 hour GM presentation and get a PDF copy of the slides you have?

When do you think they will reveal the Nurburgring times for the Z06 ?
I'd guess soon as the dealership tours are starting tomorrow/today and this information will probably start being released then!
Glass packs added in the exhaust as resonators with electronic baffling could go a long way towards cutting decibel levels at tracks.
Great video Justin! Cant wait to order mine after I escape CA.

Curious if the Z06 exhaust be installed in the C8 Corvette?
Sound limits at race tracks are silly.

I wonder how it would have sounded and performed with a crossplane crank?
Just come to COTA no sound restrictions at all.
Thanks for the info👍🏿
Lime Rock is in Connecticut close to New York Border
Where can we find the PDF?
Is there a link of the full LT6 presentation?

well we cant get a c8 or zo6 the dealers will buy them all and mark them up 30-100k and the customer looses again
One slide the redline is 8400, another showed 8600, which is it? where can I get the slides?
The peak horsepower is at 8400, redline is 8600
to keep the z06 quiet slap on twin turbos or a much quieter exhaust. just kidding about the turbos would never do that to this buy a zr1 then

SAE torque and SAE horsepower. I wonder what the SAE means. 🤔

Any track that imposes sound limits can get fucked and deserves to lose business and shut down.
