- Опубликовано: 25 апр 2024
- We provide one of the most in-depth looks at the new 2023 Corvette C8 Z06. We talked to the engineers about the approach and difficulties of designing a 670HP naturally aspirated V8 in the modern age. With more exotic performance and a starting price of nearly $105,000, there will be plenty of discussions about how this resets the internal combustion supercar formula.

As an engineer and a car guy, this is exactly the content I’m looking for. You guys have been consistently killing it. Thanks for bringing the engineers’ stories to us viewers!
Agreed! Fantastic video!
Engineer here too, and I agree!
They’ve come a long way since their review of the C5 ZO6, where they went out of their way to demonstrate how little they understand about vehicle design while criticizing that car.
This is one of the greatest RUclips videos of all time and deserves an Oscar.
Yeah, I really enjoyed it and it got me excited about the C8. A new dream!
I’ve seen lesser productions get Oscars lol
From pedos...no thanks
Even though this video doesn't have the normal potty-mouth laced commentary from Mr. Savage Goose, I agree. 😂
@@joseeduardo4327 most productions that get oscars don't deserve one
What an hour full of knowledge, thrill, and pure beauty...
This is probably the video with the highest quality I've ever watched on RUclips. Not just about cars, but everything else. You guys did truly amazing work on such an incredible piece of machine that's coming near the end of its era. As an automotive enthusiast and engineer, I want to thank you for creating this. I'm on a waitlist with more than a thousand people in front of me, but I will wait patiently for that day to come...
Thank you for helping to donate and share your kind words. These are the small things that make the effort worthwhile. Hope you get the car.
Can I ask what your job is like? I’m currently going to school for that exact degree
Hi Zhang, I'll sell my spot if you're willing. It's 2 spots away and will let you have the z06 delivered by the 1st June. Interested?
Getting closer?
@@jimdshea I'm now #579 on the list. Hang in there!!
This is what a car documentary should be like. The car being presented by the people that worked on it, amazing shots of the car in motion and all the technical details a gearhead could ever whist for. You guys are truly amazing!
You’ve definitely reached a new level with this one. Not only the level of detail, but the way the video is constructed so that everything builds logically and enhances understanding. The interviewees are not only knowledgable enough to clearly explain what they did, they’re also honest in talking about the compromises and tradeoffs. Like I said, a whole new level. Congrats.
The amount of work and detail is insane.
Couldn't say it better myself. Mark and Jack you guys killed it!
no manual = fail, fu GM
@@ko7305 go cry, you cant afford one anyway
@@ko7305 I kinda felt like that for a while after the C8 first came out, but then I started to hear rumors about how crazy this Z06 was supposed to be and I got a hunch. A suspicion that was confirmed earlier today as I saw Emilia drag race a Huracan EVO and a Ferrari 458 in her Z06 - GM came to kick supercar ass. They weren't going to compromise performance in order to offer a manual - and now after seeing what they have done, I applaud them. They knew some people would be pissed, but they wanted to slay giants.
I worked for Chevrolet as a product trainer during the C8 launch and the information you provided in this video was far more comprehensive than the material we would get on the Silverado 2019 1500 launch or the 2020 HD redesign. Your access to top GM staff is an accomplishment by itself... let alone using GM PowerPoint slides from engineering department. Cheers guys, GM couldn't have made a video this great.
*Chevy & Trump MAGA!* 😉💪🏻
Ah, GM. General Management.
Savagegeese and crew, have no idea why you guys don't have over 1 million subs right now. The quality, the length, the access to the engineer and designers, and the beautifully cinematography and editing is on the level of high budget marketing content. Unbelievable that this is free content.
The stereo effect of the interior engine sound you guys managed to capture is unbelievable, something I've never heard that high quality even from big budget productions like top gear.
I agree, it adds so much to the quality of the review. Top Gear's sound mixing has always been infamously bad 😂
Thank you guys for making such high quality documentary level content, for free on a platform built for disposable mine-craft videos. Its such an amazing resource, with no ads or anything. You guys deserve every sub and about 10 million more.
You got that right! I’m so appreciative of the Geeses. First rate stuff in a sea of drivel.
Thanks from Australia gents.
Best car channel on RUclips, hands down.
This is the first time I've giving a thumps up, on the 'you guys are the best' commentary.
Shouldn't he be thanking us for allowing him to be able to make these videos and drive the best cars ever made for a living
@@621deezy not much of a living compared to what they could make stopping the documentary every 10 minutes to talk about a watch company, or to sell you a VPN, or a mobile game or some shit. The content is better for it, and they are making that choice and we should be thankful.
Finally, I can form my own opinion on this car after hearing what Mark and Jack say.

Hi guys. I ordered my ZO6 a year ago after owning AMG, GTR Nissans and alike this really is the car I’m looking forwarded to sitting in. In a world of media that focuses on the color of the seat belts your video is so refreshing giving genuine insight and yes I have now watched it 3 times. To the GM engineers you actual genuinely sound proud of your achievement, well done.
Please keep up this style of content

I think you may be disappointed after owning a GTR. Why not wait for a Z06 ERay?

What an exceptional video. The amount of time and effort to organise, film and interview the engineers of the Corvette program truly shows how dedicated these guys are to their craft of making world class documentaries and reviews. Bravo SavageGeese team. 👏
Thank you not only for that comment but the gift. We definitely tried to convey the car and the story as best as we could and it seemed to resonate.
I can’t put into words how amazing that was unfortunately I had to watch the video in two different settings but I have never seen anything with such quality covering such good information I love your videos I am not a Chevy guy but this makes me want a Corvette and now I have to have one so thank you for putting out such incredible content year after year week after week you guys are just the best period!
Very generous of you, god bless
This is the Savage Geese opus. Cinematography, sound, editing, and engineering background are at a level I doubt any other channel could touch. Thanks to Mark, Jack and all the engineers for the hard work they put in. It's a straight up masterwork. Well done, all!
Agreed. Incredible.
The vido certainly matches the level of sheer amazement that the Z06 delivers as well.
Thank you Mark and Jack for carrying on the enthusiast spirit. I feel that it’s getting lost this day in age, but you guys keep it alive. Keep it up!
Water blowing out the tailpipes always gets my heart racing. Heres to never losing the EMOTION of cars that has gotten us all so enamored by them growing up.
You guys are in a league of your own with these deep dive videos.
The car community needs.... no, the WORLD needs more people like the ones who produce the content on this channel. Amazing video all around. Thank you
This was absolutely fantastic. I don't see myself ever owning a Corvette, but seeing the amount of passion that went into this car is a real treat - both the passion of the engineers, and the stellar camera work and editing on display here. For being a full hours long and stuffed with technical details, this video was magnetic from start to finish.
I will be literally returning to this video just to study the engineering slides. Love the technical details, amazing work and passion.
I don't even like Corvette's and this video brought a tear to my eye. Beautifully done. Congrats to everyone involved.
Thanks for the kind words Jonathan.
This is the only Z06 video that counts....
Why this channel doesn't have 1.0M plus subs is beyond me. The videography by itself deserves it, let alone the audio!!
Let's Go SavageGeese!!
No matter what you think of GM, you have to hand it to their engineers building cars like this, cuz damn that looks hella impressive! #Respect
You guys are at the top of the game with your car reviews, keep them coming.
This isn't a review. This is a fricken documentary. ABSOLUTELY TREMENDOUS VIDEO! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put in this as this isn't something I could find anywhere else!
We are honored that you put this together for us! THIS is the video that generations after us will watch to learn about the magic of the C8 Z06, this is the video we'll watch and share 30, 40, 50 years from now to reminisce about the last golden era of peak internal combustion 👏🏼
Well said :).
I absolutely love the engineering details and all the info from Chevy and their engineers, it really shows how much work went into this car. Also huge thanks to you guys for putting together such an incredible video and sharing it with us. This is professional and passionate automotive journalism.
Thank you so much for the kind words and the gift
Same. It’s a awesome. A gearhead’s dream content
Always loved your content and you just keep getting better. Thanks for the ride!
The Corvette team spent so much time and effort to develop the exhaust system then people buying the car will just replace it with an obnoxious, loud "go brrrrrrr" exhaust.
Yes this really gives a great look of the car and it helps reinforce or create the high amounts of appreciation for this car. Really well done. The car n the video itself.
This is unbelievable. If this was a documentary on HBO I wouldn’t bat an eye. Thank you for this, this channel is the best car content ever produced. Full stop.
Savagegeese literally never disappoints. Pinnacle of car content. Well done boys.
The pinnacle of auto industry content. Thank you guys for always being the first car youtubers I rush to when embargos lift.
When the C8 first launched, all the engineers were excited to share it. Now that the Z06 has launched, you can feel an emotional connection to the project beyond just excitement. This is what they were excited about. We all know there's going to be a ZR1 and a Zora yet coming, but I get the sense that this is the Halo car that received all the passion, the others will simply be a demonstration of capability. They believe they've hit peak ICE, and I believe them. I wish Gordon Murray luck, but when Detroit decides they're going to win at something, there's little Europe can do about it.
I won't duplicate the accolades that have been well expressed, which are well deserved. I just will simply say "thank you" for your dedication and excellence!
Thanks SG team for continuing to produce exceptional full-length videos like these. I can't imagine the time, cost, and commitment it takes to make something like this and it speaks volumes to the passion you guys have for the automobile. It's amazing to get to hear from the engineers and I get the sense that they hope that buyers will love driving this car as much as they loved designing and building it. Wishing you guys continued success and growth!
Thank you for the supportive message and cash moneys!! It's good to see that so many people value this type of content and info.

What is there left to say about the Savagegeese prowess? Between Team Geese and Jason Cammisa at Hagerty, these are masterpieces of automotive journalism. This probably could have been two hours long and I would be sitting through every second. I am grateful you have such passion and persistence to bring such high value content to the average Joe. Thank you Mark and Jack!
This is the ultimate love letter to the C8 Corvette Z06! While the car is early into its release, 20 years from now it will be considered a legend and this video will be a great documentary about all of the engineering behind the car. Excellent work!
Hell ya I’m ready for this!!!!
y'all are some youtube greats as well loving the z06 series
Remember to have the Cup 2R tires at 24psi for peak grip. GM says what's on the door is for street use because at 35psi the tire beads slightly to increase grip in the wet since the slick portion isn't in full contact. For track use 24psi allows full contact with the slick portion and grip is maximized for track performance
Take notes boys
You're gonna have to be big time fuckboy influencers to even get on the list for this smdh I'm gonna get a mustang
"Horsepower and Torque!!!"
I think it's easy to be spoiled by your channel. The quality of content, level of thought, and consideration for the enthusiast is so consistent throughout each of your videos that it isn't until you've watched them all that you realize nothing else quite scratches that itch. This was yet another example of you guys raising the bar. Thank you so much for giving me something to look forward to watching when there's nothing else.
It took me a few days and viewing sessions to get through this epic video and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. As usual, you guys killed it with incredible quality and production. The visuals and audio got me juiced up. I love hearing all the insight of the engineering journey and decision-making process involved with making a car like a reality. Also love seeing the absolutely necessary monkeying around the track with you guys giggling your heads off. Thank you for being so savage, geese!
Thanks for putting this together! What an incredible video. I've been a long time fan, and this is one of your best videos so far. This is the least I could do for my favourite pair of automotive journalists. Here's to more!
I'm not one to leave a comment often. In the event this reaches you guys, I want to say thank you, and that you all are producing some inspiring content. The first video of yours I saw was of the 2015 Lexus IS350, and I remember how back then you couldn't stand it not offering a manual. During the height of COVID19, your videos in part helped me find the motivation to push through campus shutting down, an end of a relationship, social isolation, and the longest depressive phase I've experienced, to then graduate with a mechanical engineering degree. Things have since improved for me, and I hope you guys find as much joy in making these videos as some of us do watching them. The dream is one day you'll be doing a video on a car I had a hand in, and there's still gas in the tank. PS. Yes Jack, I had to watch this twice.
Glad you made it out the other side. Hope you can find joy and a job where you get to do some cool stuff and drive great cars eventually. These different phases of life, relationships, help make you who you are.

the Corvette team interviews at the end are the icing on the cake. Not often do you get a chance to express how you feel about your best work at the time you do it. Almost always what you describe is a memory recalled, but for these guys, it has been captured in the moment. You can feel the simultaneous pride and sadness that they know this is it for this iteration of their craft.
Yeah damn what a great ending. As a blue collar person that works on machines as a living some of the statements in this video give me hope we got a great future.
I have pretty much watched car videos on RUclips everyday since 2015 ... sad perhaps, but it's an addiction I love and ... this is definitely one of the very best videos, well done!!
I'm new to this channel but just WOW. i've been sitting here now for hours and even jumped over my breakfast cause i just can't stop watching your content about the Corvette. Never ever have i seen someone go so deep into details about cars and giving so much info you can't find anywhere else at the web. I'm surprised that you dont have 100 times more subscribers. You really dedicate your soul into what you do. Greetings from Sweden.
Mark & Jack, all I can say is thank you. That was an absolute masterpiece of a production, with the "Need for Speed view" minute at the end a stunning finish. No clickbait, no "influencer" trash, no crap music, just a brilliant, engaging masterpiece. Given these are confirmed for Australia, I hope to see and hear one of these in person one day! GM provokes a mixed feeling in Australia given the demise of Holden, but there will always be a little piece of Holdens spirit in the C8's given the C8 prototype was hidden under a Holden Ute body shell.
Congratulations, GM. You have created a masterpiece. This thing sounds absolutely glorious. Have mercy! GM's performance car catalog has hit an all-time high.
You can just hear the pride and passion all these engineers have for this car. I’m so happy the engineers at Corvette were so excited to work with you guys. Amazing video.
The information you have in this video is overwhelming... Huge props to Chevy corporate for making the engineers available, and huge thanks to the engineers for sharing their passion and some stories of the design challenges and how they overcame them.
And then, as always, Mark and Jack go over the top and do the best sound recording available in automotive content. This is video and this car are a tribute to car enthusiasm itself.

Mark and Jack you continue to enrich our automotive lives with ever growing and improving content. The passion and dedication to your craft (along with all of your support systems and the manufacturer representation) shines through brightly…
I want to add that it’s amazing to think and look back on the early content on your channel (fondly with many a laugh), to the point where Jack became an on camera reviewer and that evolution (perfect addition), up to the more recent content with mini documentaries, retrospectives and interesting variety of presentation. Bravo 👏
All I want to say is thank you. Thank you for this video. Thank you for your passion and dedication. And thank you for creating a piece of history that we can love and share together. When I have kids, and they’re old enough, I’m going to show them this video. 🏁
What I love the most about your videos is that you guys make a great effort to include the background of a car, how it was made, interview the engineers directly to really get into why things are the way they are. I really hope your channel prospers for as long as possible, there's nothing else like it.
Damn. Motor Trend or Car and Driver can't touch this level of coverage/passion or just the quality video presentation. Thanks man!
This is the definitive video about the C06 on RUclips. If you want know anything about this car watch this video. Great job
As a kid, I dreamed of working in the similar capacity as these engineers featured in this really passionate video on the 'ONE AND ONLY' Corvette. It's truly a blessing to do and succeed to reach what you think is the pinnacle of your careers. May you reach higher, for I hope the ICE is not done, to compliment all means of propulsion. You both are also passionate in skills on the track and behind the camera. For a car guy, your videos fuels my automotive passion. Killer vid!
No one out there doing anything CLOSE to what you are. You should be very proud. 11/10 content. Thank you so much. Thanks also go out to GM and the Corvette team for not only building this work of art, but also giving the access to filmmakers like you who have the passion to share their process.

This is no doubt THE high water mark for this channel. You guys have entered some rarified air here. My sincerest congratulations on this masterpiece of a video.
HOLY FUCK. As someone studying engineering, what an amazing video. Absolutely the best on youtube for people like me. Ive ALWAYS wanted to know the simulation work, development methods, etc that go into a car developed by a massive company. This stuff is extremely rare to have access to, and most development stories are from much older cars.
The engine design philosophy in particular was BY FAR the coolest thing ive seen. Seeing how they put so much effort into the oiling system, and the scavenge system specifically is really cool, as it is generally not known how MASSIVE the benefits are to having an excellent scavenge system. There's a reason f1 engine designers started creating a partial vaccum in the crankcase ages ago. It gives so many advantages that are not known to most people. Being able to talk to the chief engineers and not marketing people was also sick. Man, the effort you guys put into stuff like this shows, much love
Amazing video as always, but this has got to be the best one yet. Made me a little emotional how much passion is put into it from every GM Engineer.
The level of care that you put into that video did not go unnoticed. Aside from the car itself, it was also a masterpiece. Thank you for your dedication and for not shying away from going down the engineering rabbit hole.
The both of you absolutely out did yourselves with this review:)!!! Porsche wannabe Guy, sold on the ZO6 Corvette! Thank you…
There's no denying the sheer amount of time, effort, blood, sweat, tears, passion, etc that GM put into the new Z06 (and you guys making this video). It truly is amazing and shows just how much work it takes to make something special like this happen. As a former C6 owner, the Vette just isn't my cup of coffee that gets me fired up to go for a drive. I personally couldn't be bothered with the C8 as whole, even with the new Z06. The more I see the C8 in person up close, the less I find it interesting or engaging as a sports car. That being said, I still appreciate what it is and how it's probably one of the last great V8's to be produced in this era of motoring.
WOW, the top of your game with this video! Mark and Jack just taught a true journalistic MasterClass on how the BEST automotive reviews are supposed to be done. AMAZING work and I cant even imagine what's next??!!
There are a few more left in the tank. NSX is one for sure
What a truly wonderful video you made Mark, about what will be a historically important and significant vehicle. You should be proud of your work. You are one of a kind.

Mark and Jack are no longer making car reviews, they are making full-length documentaries. Can't wait to see where the channel goes from here, the sky's the limit! Well done guys
I really hope that for Mark personally he shares the sentiment expressed by the Corvette team at the end of his film, that doing projects like this make it all worth it...even reviewing seemingly every small CUV for years. Thank you Mark, thank you Jack, you guys are absolutely crushing it! Also thank you team Corvette for making such an amazing machine and letting these guys tell the story.
Such an incredible video that is in its own tier of love letters to an industry, a culture, and to most of all, the people that made it happen. To the engineers, their managers, corporate, and everyone that touched this project; you all deserve the highest praises.
