      If you're running titanium rods naturally you will need to use extremely light pistons and wrist pins with them which are not as strong. A 2618 forged racing piston would have been better but the oem was doing what they could with the budget they had. It's hard to adapt race car tech to a street car. Ti rods weren't meant to last 100k either, not even close.

    Even the now-overlooked and "modestly" powered C5 Z06 is still a very quick car. 0-60 in 4 - 4.2 seconds, 1/4 mile in low 12s @ 116 mph and Nordschlief full lap time under 8 minutes back in 2004 with 2004 tire technology. The record 1/4 mile pass for a bone stock C5 Z06 on stock OEM tires is 11.8 @ 118 mph. The record pass for a C5 Z06 with only an air intake and DRs is 11.55 @ 120 mph. Not everyone will be track driving these things. Yes it is an amazing V8 that is legitimately one of the best ever, but I’d have to pick the ford 03/04 4.6 terminator as the most legendary monster slayer of all time! that motor was an absolute engineering marvel it’s still to this day considered one of if not the best V8s offered in a production car.you see a terminator on the street and there still feared and highly respected and there’s a reason for that…… I’m a dodge guy though long live the HEMI and long may she reign supreme 😈!!!

    Trick Intake Manifold! Haha....Ford has been using active Intake runners since 1993 in both the V6 and V8. The V6 is called a Split Port because of this flapper valves that activate runners. Same with the 4 6L DOHC

    The c6 z06 is roughly 50-70 lbs heavier than the c5 z06 depending on the year, with most of the weight difference being rotating weight in the larger wheels/tires/brakes. I was able to make a 11.8s 1/4 mile pass with a very modest 2900 rpm launch in my c5 z06 with just a cold air intake, a/c delete and light weight battery relocated to the rear, and nitto nt01 road race tires. The c6 z06 is obviously the family favorite but don't sleep on the c5z's, they're not that far behind. Time will tell how the new kid on the block, the c8 Z06, will favor. It's certainly got the power and the tech but cars being under 3000 lbs is becoming a thing of the past. Often times I hear the new generation of cars guys referring to 3400 lb cars as light weight.

    • @calebs.2166
      @calebs.2166 Год назад

      Agreed. The video also incorrectly stated that the C7 Z06 model with the automatic 8-speed has cylinder deactivation. The manual 7-speed also has cylinder deactivation. The driver simply has more control over when the deactivation occurs in the manual variant. Also, the video thumbnail graphic itself incorrectly displays a C7 ZR1, not a C7 Z06. I'm starting to think this guy may not be a reliable source of info.

    The C8 is BA for a Domestic but those power figures look more like the traditional Exotics. NOT the torque monsters that we are actually used to. HP has always gotten the headlines but it's torque that matters on the street. I've seen more than one high HP car get smoked by a torque monster.
