As a rock fan whose almost 50 I’ve seen just about everyone live. Muse might be the best live band I’ve ever heard.
I've seen them live 4 times now
Saw them live a few years ago, yeah, they were very good.
I'm 68 and have seen them 76 times in concert, almost all of them on the barrier! Best. Live. Band. On. The. Planet!!!
Probably second to only pink Floyd for live stage shows.
@@gocanux47 absolutely agreed 🥰🥰🥰
Muse are a stadium rock band. Their main themes are politics, corruption, freedom, dystopian worlds and technology.
Oh yeah!
Muse always predicts the future....
Muse is Amazing!
Bunch of socialist anti establishment musicians and I love it lol
Stadium/ New Prog/ Space Rock band
Muse got voted best live act on the planet. If you get a chance to see them, do it! They are so good.
Saw them in 2011 literally life changing ……going to see them this October as well and taking a bunch of people that are fans but haven’t ever seen them live ;)
I still remember seeing them in 2003 and how incredible it was :D
im going to finally see them this april in LA!!!!
Muse are great. Very diverse band where every album sounds a lot different. Look forward to seeing more reactions to Muse.
Muse are definitely one of the biggest rock bands in the world.
They need to hear some Hullabaloo!
They need to hear some Hullabaloo!
Drones is their best album by lightyears
@@anfie2495 my second favourite Muse album after The 2nd Law
Muse became the first band to sell out the new Wembley stadium, 10 minutes after the start of sales
And I got tickets. It was epic!
The opening Harmonika track is Ennio Morricone's " Man with the harmonica" , the famous Soundtrack and main-theme of the classic western "Once upon a time in the West".

They are by far one of the best live bands of the 21st century. I'd recommend hysteria live at Wembley, plug in baby at Rome and assassin at the mayan.
Their main genre is Alternative rock but they are very experimental. Hard rock, Space rock, Progressive rock, electronica, symphonic rock, art rock. They were huge in 00's and still today because after every album different kind of people became fans as they kept always changing their style. They are considered one of the best live bands (maybe of all time but this is subjective)
I've been lucky enough to see hundreds if not thousands of live acts, and six of the seven times I've seen muse would be in my top ten performances I've seen.
This song has one of the best "buildup to explosion" I've ever heard. You know it's going to happen, and it's still just as awesome.
Selling tickets in the US
Maroon 5 > Green Day > Muse
In Europe
Muse > Green Day > Maroon 5
Figures
You could also add Australia and Asia so pretty much everywhere else but US.
Muse is one of the biggest and best live bands on the planet. I’m amazed you haven’t heard off them.
Watching people react to Muse for the first time is such a treat :) this band commands energy onstage like no other. I really don’t understand how they fly under the radar like they do in the US. They’ve had massive radio-dominating hits here, shit they even did music for Twilight, they are definitely a presence.
Muse don't give a shit about you and the UK and us. THEY JUST WANT TO PLAY MUSIC.
This song was dope to play on guitar hero! 🎸 Couldn't help but feel like a Rockstar playing this shit lol
FORGET EVERYTHING I SUGGESTED. THE STUDIO VERSION OF "MAP OF THE PROBLEMATIQUE" NEEDS TO BE THE NEXT MUSE SONG YOU DO. IT IS LITERALLY PERFECT.
Map of the problematique is the best of the bests songs ever made (and to be made) and the most perfect, nothing can be more perfect bcs it doesn't exist. The only thing more perfect than perfection is map of the problematique.
@@BooToadstool such an underrated song!!! It’s in my top 5 of muse songs for sure and no one ever talks about it!!!
@@mookiestewart3776 For real! It's actually my favorite song and it's hard to find someone else who has it in their top songs, i don't know why!! and I almost die of laughter one day i read someone say it was overrated.
@@BooToadstool lol that person was high on crack! The first time I heard that song and I heard the line “when we bleed we bleed the same” I almost fell to my knees crying. Maybe the song just connects with really empathetic people that actually give a fuck about the world idk 😞. I grew up in Oakland CA which was a really tough place to grow up and we didn’t really listen to bands like muse but once my college buddies showed me the band and then that song and I said it was one of my favorites they were really proud of me for some reason. Like they knew I would connect with it
@@mookiestewart3776 it's my favorite song ever! Map of the Problematique absorbs perfectly into my soul
I've seen tons of bands, muse is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Its hard to explain, but its special.
If you're gonna do another muse song, PLEASE do Hysteria. Amazing song
And stockholm syndrome
Especially the version from Austin
Please if you do Hysteria, do the Live Rome version :)
That full Absolution album from 2003 is gold! Hysteria ,Time is running out, or Sing for Absolution especially
@@MsNewsted I feel like the studio version is the best version to be introduced to. The problem with the live versions is the roaring crowds that can take that first impact of the base line away.
Muse is one of the best live shows in England, and those guys knows about music. The music video of this song is a must see, it mixes spaghetti western, Kung fu and laser beams…. It is awesome
One of the best live shows period. IMO the only better live show I’ve ever seen is Tool. That shit is a religious experience, and Muse is right there with them.
Soooooo good live
@@ilovetacos6092 haven’t seen Tool yet… waiting to give an organ if needed. Form me the top of the list in live shows is Rammstein, it’s fire… literally
I’d argue one of the best live shows in America as well. I’ve seen them a handful of times and every experience has just blown me away and I go to a lot of concerts.
@@papaskazoo5860 I meant in the local circuit
They definitely are massive in America, but they’re massive to epic proportions in Europe, being a UK band. Not only will they sell out a stadium like this, but they’ll sell out 2 nights in a row at a stadium like this.
Biased in the extreme but this band is my modern Queen. I amthrilled with every perfectly composed and performed track. Their music is goosebumps pleasing to my soul. The energy they exude has made my blood course through me like a drug. Please please react to every unique, nostalgic and just pure thrilling performance. There is a reason why the crowd is so packed . Live as flawlessly entertaining as their recordings.
Greatest thing that happens to music in 21st century.
Muse introduced the 21st century. Nothing defined a new century more than Origin of Symmetry!
@@Amusegirl1980 totally agree!
They end all of their shows with Knights of Cydonia. They are the BEST live band I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen 4 different tours and each one gets even better.
Apart from Rome
I am 68 . My daughter introduced this band to me when she was in her teens in 2009 and I was hooked. We actually went to see them at Wembley Stadium on this tour. I have been following rock and metal music since the 70s ,seeing bands like Led Zeppelin Yes and Jethro Tull. This concert was one of the best I have ever attended. Their stage show was amazing. .I enjoyed your reaction and have now subscribed to your channel.
So glad you listened to this. I have no idea why but it always makes me feel like I could go out and punch an elephant lol
Its very hard to categorise muse. They have songs in all genres from classical to orchestral to punk to metal to acoustic. They can do a bit of everything.
I remember I first heard Muse in concert. I actually went for 30 Seconds to Mars. Turns out I loved Muse even more 😅
I remember it so vividly, even now it's the best show I've been to.
Turns out they are (or 'were' maybe now) SUPER big in Britain and Europe in general since they come from England I believe. But they are CRIMINALLY underrated in the US! Most Americans haven't heard of them but they are masters of Punk, Rock, Metal and Synth. Most of their songs explore things like revolutions, big governments, technology and the like. A lot of the older songs are heavier and more metal/guitar based, but their recent stuff (especially their most recent album) is super Synthy with a sort of Modern 80s vibe. Definitely check out more if you can, they're one of the best out there.
If you watched the London Olympics, they where playing a song from Muse all the time. The song is called Survival. You will recognize that one instantly
Muse's genre is muse
The music video for this one is epic!
They might need the drumsticks in case they decide to give some to the audience, too.
Yes, it's hilarious and kinda tells a story.
It is the freakest video I’ve seen. Spaghetti western mixed with laser beams and Kung fu fights. Amazing
Well wait... drum sticks??? Are you sure that wasn't the Xylophone?
@@shawnk7832 Yeah 14:35 about half a dozen in a holder off the left floor tom, not in case they break as such, they might, but he's more likely to just drop one and it go flying out of his hand.
They are HUGE in the UK. I LOVE MUSE! DO MORE! Uprising us bomb and MADNESS is amazeballs.. Really good band!
Muse is one of the most phenomenal live bands of all time!
Guys they do a song titled "unintended" and it is so Fing melancholy and beautiful. I would love to see your reaction to it! I'm sure you both would enjoy it! It's not nearly as out there as some of their tracks like this one xD its a strangely hopeful lyric but the instrumentals and vocals hit u in the feels
Muse is one of the best bands I have ever seen live. They have incredible production values and such incredible talent.
Muse begins (live performance of) Knights of Cydonia with "Man with a Harmonica" by Ennio Morricone, a famous composer and conductor who made works for movies, mainly known for westerns; it's from movie "Once upon a time in the West".
All you can do when you see such an amazing spectacle is say, "Damn, I wish I was there!"
You guys MUST dig into MUSE!! They are amazing. You will love all their albums
Harmonica intro is from Once upon a time in the west.. One of the greatest westerns ever
How can they not recognize it? Some of the most iconic film music...
Muse are a fantastic band (no “The”) and a true power trio who I would class as Rock. Great knowledge from Smokey with the definition of a muse as well. Plenty of great songs which others will give you an amazing list. Peace and love guys.
Edit; Muse are a massive band, hence the stadium gig. They headlined Glastonbury a few years ago and that was a great show, always have a fantastic light show as well.
Their 2004 Glastonbury set was right up there with Radiohead 1997 as the greatest of all time.
Sadly Glasto has now sold out.
Actually they headlined Glastonbury 3 times - the first band to headline on a Friday, a Saturday and a Sunday. Also sell-out at Wembley stadium, obviously Rome, Stade de France (over 150,000) and they have sold over 43,000 tickets (twice) at Staples Centre LA
Muse are amazing! So many good songs.
Cave
Newborn
Plug In Baby
Feeling Good
Time Is Running Out
Hysteria
Starlight
Glorious
Reapers
Don’t forget to also check out ATOMSHIP-MOTHRA…you’ll love the drums!!! And the whole song!
All great older stuff I would add
Butterflies and hurricanes
Hoodoo
Absolution
Cave is so good. Love “Sunburn” as well. So so good.
There's a chance you played this on Guitar Hero 3 lol
If you ever played Guitar Hero 3 then you heard Knights of Cydonia. Muse are one of the biggest and most innovative bands out today. You should check out “Plug in Baby” live.
Greatest band I watched live, period, and I've watched quite some...
Muse are just amazing in what they are doing and they always do the best live shows, i would love you to react to New Born, Hysteria or Stockholm Syndrome, these 3 songs are incredible. And if you think you've already heard this one it's because Muse has always been very popular on the radio !
This song was in one of the guitar heros, love muse hysteria is a good track, Stockholm syndrome is great as well.
Yo so glad to see you react to this. Hands down my fav song from Muse. Should also check out Reapers
Also the song likely sounded familiar cause it was on Guitar Hero
Or it is extremely similar to Telstar, this song is very much a nod to Matt's dad who was in the band The Tornadoes that had a huge hit with Telstar in the 60's, if you're not sure that you know it just you tube it and you'll soon realise you do.
@@frase03 You think the song was familiar to these guys because it sounds like The Tornadoes song Telstar?? You really think that’s more likely than them once playing Guitar Hero???
When I took my teenage sons to see Muse... They said:, wow they are live better than on your CD. And hey, this year, we go together again to see Muse. I love my sons. And Muse.
You should react to "Starlight" and "Supermassive black hole" by Muse
Muse is said to have legendary concerts. F_ing LEGENDARY!
Muse - Undisclosed Desires is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Check out the live-version from Rome. Pure masterclass when it comes to vocals.
Hey, Muse. I haven't listened to em much lately. This IS a gem of a song, though, so props.
I saw these guys in a small pub just before they got massive. One of my favourite memories.
why does watching 2 guys enjoy something I already like make me grin so much? dunno...but it does. Great job guys.
Love your reactions! Keep up the good work
bro cant wait for the Bukcethead Reaction.. i could sit and listen to guys talk about these bands all day.. so stoked for it and see what yall have to think
If you ever get the chance to see them live Do It! Amazing show!
Just found your channel and straight away my favorite band and their best song ever! Thanks for makin my day!😍
Adds to bucket list : Must see muse live at least once in your life . Ive had the pleasure 3 times and thier live shows are spectacular . Always epic
Loved your reaction! I saw them at Wembley stadium with my dad a few years back (this may be that gig but I'm not 100% sure)
It was incredible, full body experience and I cried with happiness I remember distinctly my dad leaning in and saying for 3 people they make one hell of a noise haha
I've seen a lot of reaction videos that have been so-so lately. This is the best one I have seen in a whole. Good job guys.
Muse - Dig Down @ reading 2017 was GREAT
Was glad to finally see you do a muse reaction. One of my favorite bands! If you do more muse reactions, which i really hope u do , always do live versions. They are the amazing live, the best live band i have seen. Great reaction guys
Lol, you probably heard Knights of Cyndonia on Guitar Hero 2. That’s when I was first introduced to the band!
you guys should check out Hysteria... one of the coolest bass intros ever!
Great reaction, see these guys live and they are THAT GOOD!! look forward to you guys reacting to more by Muse.
FYI, Muse crosses several classifications. Rock, progressive metal/rock, alternative, indie rock, R&B/Soul...these are the genres used to describe them. They fuse all these things together to produce a unique soundscape.
Cydonia is on Mars y'all. Muse is both ahead, but also behind the times!
Not sure how you haven’t heard about muse one of the best bands in the world and come from Devon England down the road from me❤️
Muse (originally named “Rocket Baby Dolls) are from Devon, England. Formed in 1999, they progressed from alternative rock all the way through metal, space opera rock to trance and even hip hop and power ballads.
There are only three members: Matthew Bellamy on guitar and vocals, Dominic Howard on drums and Chris Wolstenholm on bass. They do have a fourth member, though not officially part of the original trio, who helps run the many additional sound layers for their live sets (synths, organs, dance beat sequences, choirs etc).
They have been voted best live act by NME more than 10 times and have put on concerts featuring robot exoskeletons, UFOs and even virtual reality.
An interesting point about their staple lyrical theme of conspiracy and dystopia is that Matthew Bellamy’s uncle was killed by the IRA (considered by some as a terrorist group in Ireland). This affected his songwriting for the rest of his life and songs like “Citizen Erased” and “Assassin” (on the Origin of Symmetry and Black Holes and Revelations albums respectively) feature these themes heavily.
They are considered by many to be one of the most innovative rock bands of the 21st century and also one of the best for live performances.
Spoiler alert, I’m a huge fan. (Since 1999).
Definitely check out their song Hysteria. It's one of my favs. I love the bassline in that song. And yeah Muse is pretty big.
Seen them live at Wembley Stadium twice, absolutely fucking incredible!
Welcome to Muse guys... This is (was) my favorite band... their first 4 albums are just pure magic (pretty much all songs on those albums are killer)... their most recent stuff is much more comercial and I like it a lot less...
So, I would recommend you a journey for the first 4 albums of Muse, they are also a fantastic live band like you just saw... Matt (the guitar player and vocalist) is one of the best guitar players in the world and he doesn't stop there, he's a true musician genius...
Check more (older) Muse, you won't regret it!
The newer albums are them experiementing with the music and what they can get out and going with the back stories
@@CooroSnowFox I can understand that, I just like it much much less than their older music, to me that is the true Muse sound :)
Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars (Live Rehearsal Sonic Pump Studios)
ou haven't seen that one before :)
They are so amazing live
every now and then I go around youtube looking for people reacting to Muse for the first time, because I like reliving when I first discovered them. I've seen them live 6 times now - from venues as intimate as 200 people, as headliner for muddy outdoor festivals, to sold-out stadiums with gigantic stage production. They are absolutely incredible live, the studio recordings (and tbh even the live recordings) do not do the energy justice that just ripples through the crowd when they perform. This song in particular usually closes the night, and it never fails to be insane!
Boys - that was fun. Cheers. Go see a show ... it will change your understanding of what live music SHOULD sound like.
Man, that was quality!!! Reaction and the music
Great band! The official music video for this song is not to be missed boys, get on it!
This is my favorite band and favorite song.❤
Muse usually sounds familiar because they love sampling classical music. Lots of interpolation of music written in the 1800s and early 1900s
Nice tune, the harp intro reminded me of "School" by Supertramp.
The harmonica part at the beginning was from the movie Once Upon a Time in the West one of Sergio Leonne's last western films.
Intro Bit is Harmonica man by Ennio Morricone, also done with great effect by the band "Fields of the Nephilim",and lovely to see muse nodding to their heritage and influences.
Muse is beastly. I’ve been obsessed with them since like 2005. They’re amazing 🖤👻
Man's getting his childhood memories slapping him in the face.
Guitar Hero. You're remembering playing this song on Guitar Hero
Saw these guys live in 2018. They do not disappoint.
Love love love Muse ❤️🎶
Got a muse concert tonite boys! Thanks for the inspiration
Goodness me ,you guys are bloody wonderful with your reactions .👍👍👍🇬🇧💎💎💎
Welcome to the Muse rabbit hole. Voted best live band more times than you've had birthdays. Enjoy your journey :)
Muse are the best and Matt Bellamy is a very talented genius!!💙🔥
I'm very excited to see you guys react to Muse. Yes, they are that big. I would consider Rammstein and Muse to be two of the best live acts. The musicianship of these guys is amazing.
My lad.saw them live for the first time this year at the 02. Matt Bellamy is a genius,a true artist and they are one of the vest bands of our generation
Please get to more danzig!!! 🙏 smokey/hollywood
Muse is just an amazing band! Nearly every song in their catalog is a banger
Hollywood 6ix if you didn't recognize the hook....
NOONE'S GONNA TAKE ME ALIVE...
I don't think you've heard it before!!!
Whoop Whoop! So happy you did that!!!
There are Muse fans, and then there are people who have never heard them or seen them live. They are right up there as one of the best live bands of all time, have been voted so multiple times over the past 20years, and maintain an insane level of consistency. Enjoy them while you can!
Keep digging in with Muse. Their discography is full of amazing stuff. Like everyone said, they are best live, the most amazing show live I've ever seen. I took my son to see them live for his very first concert. It was not disappointing in anyway. Keep going!
As a drummer myself, I might be able to give a little insight if someone hasn't already. The more sticks the better, not so much because they break sticks cause I would assume professional bands use new sticks almost, if not every show, but no matter how much experience playing the instrument, sticks kind of have a mind of their own and will fly out of your hand randomly so its good to have an excess of sticks within easy reach so if you do drop one you can get a new one easy without needing to stop playing, also some songs might require lighter, heavier or different stick such as jazz brushes.
And the category you’d put them in is something more like Alternative Progressive Rock.
I love the relationship you both have! You guys remind me of the days of old I had with a very close friend. We still talk, but we are three states away from each other now. I no longer have anyone close to me I can just kick it with, so I hope you guys don’t mind me hanging out with you.
I think a few years ago, Muse was ranked as the #1 concert band in the world
