Nice, he actually shows how to do the bearing, not just the hub like all the other videos. This guy explains everything very well. 😀
I appreciate that!
Thank you so much you saved my butt by you making this video.
I was on my way from Texas to Florida.
In about 5:30 in the morning when it's still dark on the freeway my bearing went out my wheel was wobbling and I pulled over immediately and I knew I couldn't sit on the side of the highway so I was able to drive 8 Miles at about 10 mph until I got to O'Reilly's.
I watch this video it took me about 3 hours to do and I was done back on the road.
Thank you so much.
Dang!
Glad I was able to help!
Crazy story. Thanks for sharing.
Probably one of the best "How To" videos I have seen in a while. Slow, methodical, and detailed. Well done.
Excellent video. It was a great refresher on these old style bearings. Love the fact you put the torque/tightening ratings and procedures.
Glad it was helpful!
Most people don't know the correct way to load grease INTO the bearings. You do ! Good job
Thanks 👍
I have been looking for videos on this job, this by far is the best. Keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
This is the only vid I could find that shows a truck like mine. You've helped me so much, Thank you!!
Perfect explanation and cleared my thoughts regarding the bushings.
Glad it helped
I've done tons of FWD and 4X4/AWD front hubs over the years, but never a normal 2WD bearing. This was extremely helpful. Thank you!
Great video and narration! I could listen to you talk all day! Going to try this on my 2002 f150 this weekend!
Thanks for the video! I have all 4 rotors and calipers to do on my truck in a couple days. Glad you gave all the steps on the front and torque specs. Thank you sir.
Perfect video. Thank you. My bearings had a little bit of play and we're squeaking. Now it's tight and quiet.
Glad to see it’s easy, I replaced my hubs a year ago but the bearings just went out in them again
Bearings should las about 60,000 Miles which is 4 to 5 years you did something wrong unless the Bearings had a Defect 😮
Dude! Thank you so much for this! Got my truck fixed in no time!!!
Glad it helped!
Falcons Garage good job on video thanks..i have a grinding noise after 1 more say of work going to check bearings..hope it's the bearings I'll replace them mofos with confidence. Lots of thumbs up on all the comments.

Awesome video! I recently started to hear a lot of humming/grinding in my front driver wheel and it got worse even to the point where it's making noise below 45mph. This will help me alot with the replacement!

Los pinche jack stands! My dad always told how important Jacks stands are while he was under a car without jack stands! Lol
Nice video. My only recommendation is you should show how you punch out the old bushing just in case someone else’s is in bad shape and needs it.
true
Does the spindle come off independently of the axle? or would I need to replace the entire axle set up to get a new spindle on there?
Thanks you have anything for the heater mine isn't working it blows cold air f150 2wd 5.4 v8 2002
My wheel bearing locked up on me last night now im grinding the stuck race from the front bearing off the shaft and i put new bearings in the rotor and the front bearing race moves a lil like i can spin it around would it be okay? Rotors brand new and bearings
Thanks
Welcome
What size nut is that on the shaft and I bought four sockets nothing fits
I'm working on a friend's truck and his flex hose went bad so his fron't left brakes locked up but he just kept driving it anyway, getting it dang near red hot.
I replaced the hose, caliper, rotor, brake pads, (all shot) but I'm not sure if I need to repair or replace the wheel bearings. How likely is that?
Hey Falcon, I enjoy your videos. I've done this job on a Ford Sport Trac, 2001. 2 questions for you.
1. Would the torque values be sufficiently similar to my vehicle? I've done it the old fashioned way, but would prefer to use a torque wrench.
2. When the job is complete and I've driven it for a week or so, should there be ANY movement at all when you push/pull on the tire at the 12 and 6 position with the truck off the ground?
I have question on the last torque spec you did a half of turn on the nut then you when back a 1/4 ?
last torque was 30ft .. and then 1/4 back .. look at the 8:24 mark
Guessing work for explore to? Got a 98 rear wheel drive 2wd only got 150,000 miles on it very clean vehicle
yes
Be fixing it this weekend lol. But this video will definitely come in handy very detailed video and very well explained
I got a question about this I have the racer bearings in my 2003 but I want to know if I could hub swap it even tho it’s two wheel drive I’ve changed the bearings twice in 3 years and would like to put a sealed bearing if possible
never seen somebody do that before .. but I would imagine you would need to swap more things to make that convertion
Awesome video! I had question for you. When they say replace the wheel bearing assembly, this is all I need to replace? Just want to make sure. Thank you, new to wrenching my own tools . I have a 2002 Ford F150 Lightning 👍🏼
yes .. depending on if the bearing race is damaged replace those too ..
Nice video. Only suggestion, while this vehicle didn't need to replace the bushings, on these videos wouldn't it be better to show everything? Even if it is redundant it would only cost you a few minutes in time . . . no extra money . . . just a thought. Helpful though. maybe mention too that if you do need a socket for the spindle nut, its 30mm or 1 1/8 inch.
do you have to have that front washer ? stupid question but im doing one right now for first time and it didnt have a washer, just a nut and the cover for the nut, probably why it gave out ? lasted awhile though i guess.
so your saying the nut is riding on the bearing? Yes it needs the washer ..
I did 12 ft pounds then 30 while spinning the rotor then the 1/4 turn. My wheel still moves side to side when lifted what do u think I did wrong ? I replaced tie rods and upper control arm too
Did you fix your problem? I have the same problem with my truck
These shop practices are questionable at best but I guess it will get you back on the road.
How do you remove the ABS Tone ring if your using new rotors????
most new rotors will have it
My ford 150 1997 built 10/1996 and outer front bearings between years came back different part numbers
could be ..
Is the torq factory spec? Online says so many different answers lol couldnt find factory spec for the torq spec or in what order
Did you ever find the torque specs for that spindle nut bro?
Is there a seal on the spindle where the hub sits?
youi can see it on the 6:03 mark
So i dint need a bearimg press?
What's the difference between timken set12 and set12fp for bearings?
??? 12fb lb? its a torque measurement
@@FalconsGarage no for the bearings. There's a set 12 and a set 12fp. What's the difference?
When I installed the outer bearing it seems like it’s lose ? Is that normal
to an extend yes .. its supposed to have "SOME" play .. just make sure you follow the procedures and torque specs
Señor mi Valero se atoró adentro y no lo puedo sacar que me recomendara
Adentro de donde?
Que número, codigo, modelo. De los baleros
Whuts the part number on the rotor plz
I know its been a year, but when you say front and back, thats referring to inner(back) and outer(front), right?
yes
I'm confused google says to torque it to over 100 ft lbs.
that sounds like the torque for the newer f150 not this body style
@FalconsGarage it says that for the 97 f150. I did mine to 30lbs.
This video is dangerous. I now think I can do this fix!
When the cap from the wheel bearing is out can we still drive the car!
i wouldn't
I wouldn’t either, my wheel almost came off yesterday on the highway when my bearing fully seized up
So this is really all you have to do?? But mechanic shops be charging a arm and a leg to do😐
You have to think about this. Shops charge what they charge for the years of experience and use of the equipment they have plus warranty
Pp
Thank you
