In this video I go over the procedure to replace the front hub and bearing. On these particular vehicles the hub and bearing usually come apart quietly until they fully fail then with the hub cocked you will hear a grinding noise unlike hub and bearings on other vehicle which make a humming noise.
Axle Nut- 20 ft lbs
Hub Bolts- 150 ft lbs
Lug Nuts- 150 ftlbs
Caliper Bracket Bolts- 150 ft lbs

Damn dude, I need to replace the cam phasers on my 2010 F150 5.4 but I'm somewhat concerned by it, did you find it difficult to do it? any thought or advice?
I replaced air intake manifold on my F150 and most everything on the top of my engine by watching one of his 45 minute videos. I have learned a ton from him.
Except he forgot the brake shield

You are the only one on RUclips that greases anything before putting it back together. So that is what I did.

Thanks for a very well done explanation. I ran into a couple of things worth mentioning while doing this job on my 2012 F150 STX so here's a heads up for anyone else following the guide. First of all, make sure you have all the metric impact sockets called for. I didn't have the necessary 18mm or 8mm in my set and had to make a trip to the parts store to buy sockets in the middle of the job. Second, the big caliper bolts were installed with RED locktite that just laughed at my impact wrench. I had to heat the bolts to break them loose. Third, I saved a ton of money by getting the assembly from Amazon. Their "this does/does not fit your vehicle" guide worked perfectly for me.
Detailed explanation on the process - very much appreciated. I replaced one on my 2004 Ford F150 yesterday - it was a breeze. One thing to note - if you choose to not disconnect the outer tie rod end, you will need a short 18MM socket for the 4 bolts holding the wheel hub assembly on. Also, a flat file worked nicely to clean up the mating surface.

I have worked on cars and trucks for over 45 years as a shade tree mech. Always was looking thinks up in Chilton's etc. Really love on line videos but these are the best I have watched. Thank you for making my life easier. I agree with Roland Selkirk, you would make a great teacher. (I was a pastor/teacher for over 30 years, you do a great job teaching.)
I remember Chilton books from 25 years ago looking and reading though them with my dad, and doing most of the reading to him cause he be having problems with his reading glasses, good old days lol,miss you dad rip

The only thing that i had to figure out myself was how to disconnect the ABS hose, but no big deal.

just came back from a trip and after my truck was sitting for 4 days took it on a ride on the highway about 10 miles and on the way up there i had a bad pulsation that came and lasted like 15 seconds and then went away . i got nervous and decided to take the back roads home and when i was about a mile away i could smell something burning .
i get home and my whole drivers side front tire was smoking and so hot to the touch i burnt my hand on the rim ..... just jacked the truck up today and when spinning the wheel feels likes the inner bearing is gone ... grinds when spinning like metal on metal sound and the truck just had a break job done like 6k ago .... checked the other side and same thing but not as bad ..... looks like i will being doing both this weekend..... womp womp.........

Because of Brian and his RUclips channel I have been able to fix a numerous Ford F-150 and Expedition and Lincoln Navigators that I own because of him the timing phaser job is not hard at all follow his step by step for Park program and you got it whipped 180000 on 1 and still going all I did was timing components once again Brian you're the best we appreciate you down here in Florida

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you. My 2007 F150 sits on 37's, so it's time to replace the hubs. Crazy how much rust you had to deal with. I live in the desert so it's something we fortunately don't have to worry about as much.

Just did this to my 2014 f 150. Video was a life saver.
Awesome video man. I replaced my hub/wheel bearing on my 2006 Ford Expedition with the help of this video. I could not have done it without your help. Side note, with a Expedition the outer tie rod end doesn't come off just by loosening the nut. It has a hex lock nut on there so I panicked for a minute until I found another video of yours explaining how to remove (thank you again!!). Also, my brake caliper has a clip in it so it is not easily compressed. The clip has to be taken off and then the caliper can be compressed and then you have to take off the caliper holding bracket (not sure if that's the correct name), then the rotor can come off. Just to note some of the differences between Expedition and F150. I appreciate all your help and subscribed! "Somethin' like that"

Just wanted to let everyone know that the bearing listed at the Amazon link fits F-150's made after 11/28/2004 (so a 2005 model made in late 2004 would fit). If you have a 2004 or 2005 model made before 11/28/2004, you will need Moog part number MOOG-515046 instead. I'm not sure what the difference is (they look the same in the pictures) but there are different part numbers for before and after the date mentioned.

Just replaced the drivers front on my Wife’s 2012 Expedition which threw a wheel sensor /ABS code and the bearing was junk after 170k miles. Great video as always!
Thanks for the video! I cant believe how easy this wheel bearing replacement was! Just like the video the assembly was removed by hand with no hammering, prying or my normal knocking out a stud and using a nut and bolt to pull it out.

I noticed before I let the vehicle down from the lift, that is why I put the parts I removed neatly to the side so I can look around and check before the vehicle leaves.
Changed both front hubs no problems didn’t even have to use air impact. 2010 F 150 4/4 XLT 4.6 liter 3V. Thanks for the video

Solid demo and good info, Makuloco! I love seeing the die grinder used. Sign of a professional technician. Don't think I saw the backing plate replaced though before the rotor and caliper assembly got put on and buttoned up... Likely edited out b/c it's assumed. How many enthusiasts and certified techs alike, have had to go back and undo your hard work just to replace something overlooked or forgotten? I know it's happened to me! Be that guy who actually goes back and puts it on rather than leaving it off! The guy who says, "it's fine" - I don't want that guy near me. Makes us all look bad!

I have a 2012 F150 FX2, 5.0 RWD. The part is different in the since that the axle nut is totally sealed. Great video. I saved a bunch of $$$.

Very informative, well done. At certain times disconnecting the electrical connections are a nightmare when not shown in the videos. It would be very educational to do a video on connectors.
So my ABS/traction control faulted on my 2009 F150 platinum w 250k a couple months ago. Was doing research, dreading having to pull out the brake ECM and do the whole solder job that was most likely the culprit, so i kept procrastinating.. Then I pulled out my drive 3 days ago and a bad intermittent grind started coming from front right. Turned around immediately and drove the 300ft back into my drive. Jacked up, yep vertical and horizontal movement like crazy with the hub, bad wheel bearing. Bought the part, 2WD model so no axle or need to remove a ball joint. Couple whacks came right out. Once back together, also cleared the ABS/traction control fault. Interesting that ABS warned me before the noise did. $238 fix. I'll replace the other side next weekend just in case. If one side went bad, other side probably not far behind.

Man life would be alot easier with a lift like that! Im on my fourth wheel hub assembly in one year now! Make sure you do all four at once (common sense witch i didnt have) and it will save you the headache over time.

did this job today 2011 f150 5.0 ( with a veteran ford tech) no tie rods disconnected or ball joints.. easy with a electric impact with flex socket simple job.
EDIT abs sensor should be vertical facing straight up.. Per Ford ( always replace the axle nut do not reuse)

Doing this is a great time to go ahead and check your break pads / calipers, rotors, and tie rods / rod ends. I mean, you may as well while you've got everything off. Also, go ahead and check your ball joints and any bushings (like on your sway bar).
Lots of wear items back behind the wheel that you're going to already be removing. If any are going or gone, now is the time to go ahead and replace them, too. Won't add much time to the total repair.

Hey Brian, I have a 2005 f150 with a 2.5 inch leveling kit. I have a popping noise coming from the drivers front side only on takeoff from a stop and occasionally on the shift from 1st to second. I just replaced my actuators with motorcraft actuators thinking they weren’t free wheeling all the way on takeoff. This popping noise doesn’t happen all the time but is more prevalent on hills and can happy anywhere from once to 4 or 5 times. I would appreciate your feedback on this issue so I don’t keep dumping money into my front end. Thanks I really appreciate the money your videos save me!
Love all your videos. I myself am looking into becoming a tech. Probably a stupid question but does it matter the color of the grease? Just want to make sure I get the right stuff and the people at the big box stores are as smart as my door knobs.

and this cost me 90 bucks in labor at my local garage today just for this 20 minute job. When work is done in actual time taken, but stacked per task out of some book is screwing a customer....80 bucks to bleed brakes and 2 calipers and about 1.5 hours for over 300 bucks in labor charges........I never screwed people over for my work like this....car garages take advantage of people...this video and others help make it so they won't get a return customer. You think you're being screwed? How much do think a 12,000 lb hoist cost? Tools, Air Compressor, Electricity, rent, training, and garage insurance, let alone, shop supplies, making a profit and stocking parts. 20 minutes.... shheeeya, let's see you do this job this quickly without all that stuff.
I do try to do some of the things on my vehicles, but if it interferes with my work time or time with my daughter.......or it's something I don't feel comfortable doing due to specialty tools required......I take it out to a shop. Too many folks these days don't even do basic brake work or oil changes......my mechanical skills are probably about 3 out of 10 so I do what I can when I can. I research them all no matter who does them and it just rubs me wrong when I see the gouging that takes place...like I said, when ever I have worked for anyone, I have never overcharged for any reason and have kept my time to the minute even with my employers......I suppose cheating a customer will ensure you never have a loss in the end game though.

Thanks for posting this up fantastic video, did my wheel bearing on my F150 2008.
Started out with a routine brake pad change. Barely got started when I noticed one of the saddle pins (that the calipers ride on) was seized up. Then noticed the outer tie rod end was junk. Started putting it all back together when I noticed the wheel still had a wobble to it. Guess this wheel bearing is next on the to-do list. Let’s how much deeper this rabbit hole gets...lol
