Fix This Build That
On your sawstop how is the dust port connected? I kind of need to do the same
Um, Discus isn't sending me a verification email so I can join the discussion and enter the giveaway! I've been waiting for 10 hours for the email to come, and I even told it to resend the email a few times already. Help, Brad! I wanna get in on that giveaway! You are awesome!
I got it to work. Used a different email address.
Sorry Brad, it doesn't work. I don't know why it won't send me a verification email. 8-(
I'll try again tomorrow.
That was a great tour. You have a great sense of humor. I love all your videos. Please keep up the great work.👍
thanks 😀
Glad to see you’ve reclaimed more space!
Yes! Can't wait to move that wood!
I’m coming over.
Maker party!!! :)
There's not a bit of sawdust around. Are you sure this is a woodshop?
Your dad jokes need to get better...
Great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great

Fantastic walk around your shop !!! Thanks so much. I'm in a mobile home without a garage. My wife Carol and I want to tart a small business with her doing Art and me doing wood projects to sell at craft fair or a booth in town possibly? Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and videos, Thanks to JET and Woodcraft for sponsoring a GREAT channel. I would like to win the planer because it would improve the quality of my projects and right now I can't affordoone being on a fixed income. Thanks again, Rodney
Thanks, Rodney! Good luck 👍
When did you get a CNC machine? I know I'm a bit behind on videos, but I haven't seen anything labeled CNC or X-Carve. Maybe I missed it? I'm looking to get one in a few months. I'd absolutely love your feedback on it and any videos you can provide.
Used it heavily in this video 👍 ruclips.net/video/AKkyhl4qU70/видео.html
@@Fixthisbuildthat thanks! I watched it. Great as always. If you want those screens fixed, I'm just up the road in Clarksville if you remember. Do you plan on doing more CNC videos? I'm trying to do as much research as I can before I order mine in the next few months. I feel like I'm grossly unprepared lol.
If you hadn't pointed it out, I was going to say this has to be subliminal messaging w/ all these stupendous, wonderful, superb, and superfluous usage of an exceptionally distinguished and highly-rated superlative!
😂 😂 👍
The shop is looking great! I'm in favor of the suggested new work flow, seems logical. Walnut Counter: 1
the behind the scenes top shelf tour is only for your eyes
Can i ask what I hope isn't a stupid Q? Why so many handheld drills? I could see having one, maybe two of both an impact and standard variety, but why do I see so many wood working shops with a dozen or more drills?
Mine is mainly due to them being sent to me for review or thoughts by brands. But if I was buying on my own I'd have a 18/20v kit drill/Driver, a 12v kit and an oil pulse impact. All different tasks and strengths
A lot of time you get a deal on a new "set" and so you have an extra, they are handy if you need a drill bit in one and a countersink in another, 2 different bits. You can never have too many
Brad, that was a really good shop tour. Actually, it was better than good, it was...uhm...what's the word...dang, I hate it when my mind goes blank like that. Keep up the really good work dude.
I’m glad someone acknowledged Norm Abram and what he has done for the woodworking hobby...
You're going to need swap to a sombrero for the amount of brightness those LED give you 😂
I have installed LED in my shop from the beginning and it was an expensive but GREAT investment.
It is a joy to work in a well illuminated space.
Your shop looks fantastic and it is very well organized. Cheers
🤠
1998 or so, went to a tool show in Denver, Colorado. Norm was on the cover of This Old House. He was handing out copies and signing them. I still have this in my stuff somewhere.....
I'm glad to see you're doing okay. God bless you and Merry Christmas.
no, I'm doing GREAT! Merry Christmas!
"Great" video. I just installed a bunch of LED strips in my shop. Love them. Whose mini split is that?
It's a Mitsubishi model. Works great
Next up: make a cheese grater organization drawer/cabinet. Great Grates.
😂😛😀
You need to get Your priorities straight..sell the bikes and make the kids walk so You can have more shop space! 😆😆
I should have considered that earlier!
keep the bandsaw, sell the kids
We like your work big
thumbs up 👍 from Iraq 🇮🇶
thank you!
5:22 missed a Great count
great catch 😛
@@Fixthisbuildthat 😂 😂😂"Great catch"
How did you talk your wife out of the garage??? I'm building a house and have a 4' extension but the ole lady will still be parking in her side.
@@Kcustom216 I made the space make money for us!
I love your videos. I did get your plans for the 60" cabinets but need to get some more tools before I build them.
Build it and they will come....or they will be filled :)
Great video of your shop. I'm disappointed you didn't mention your Kreg ACS track saw and table. I love my Kreg track saw. I considered getting the table. I am building a modified Paulk workbench instead.
@15:50 - I think almost every woodworker/diy-er of some sort would agree here. Norm is a living legend. I looked forward to weekends (aside from not going to school lol) to watch The New Yankee Workshop. Honestly, at the time I had no idea why I would watch his show, I was about 10/11 BUT I absolutely loved watching it lol. Something satisfying about building a piece of furniture with your hands was "great".
"Great" times (🥁 - ba dum tiss) 😂
Norm is a legend!
Nice tour! It's sort of crazy how much bigger your shop looks onscreen than it sounds when you give the dimensions. The camera adds square footage! One thing I've been curious about is what RUclipsrs like you do for garage security? I've been worried about it and I only have a couple expensive machines. Maybe it is different for big RUclipsrs since the machines become businesses assets and are insurable as such?
My garage is pretty secure since I have no external doors or windows. So not a big concern for me. And yes, the wide angle lens really makes it look huge
I saw that you have the Powermatic Micro dust Filter (electrostatic) and the Jet air filter hanging in your shop. Do you think both are necessary for a two-car garage? Have you noticed a big difference between one or the other? If you had to pick one, which is more effective?
My problem with my garage is do everything and have alot of toys. Wood work, mechanical work on cars, and small engines, lil body work, as well as all things house related plumbing, electrical, drywall finishing, etc.
how big is your garage cause it looks bigger than a two car either that or you've done well with your space
in Australia our standard 2 car garages are roughly 6m x 6m ( a little over 19.5ft x 19.5ft)
I’m sure you missed a “great” @5:22 ✊🏾 BTW great video 😃
@13:28 I could’ve sworn you were going to say “great planer” 😅
Would love to have enough room for a workshop.
Maybe one day 😂🤞
You need a shed for the kids and home stuff. And extra wood storage
I wish! HOA 👎
Awesome video!
Sy pingin punya worshok seperti ini, tapi uanngnya terbatas,muda2an terwujut amin from indonesia 🇲🇨
you mentioned every thing except the if the mobile work bench with red metal framework is made by you or if what make is it. I'm in the UK but maybe American products will come over here soon ?
Norm abram signed picture…. Your shop just made up for the floor flex hose ur dragging around. I enjoyed his shows when I was way younger.
Wow sir ji wow ...Your shop very very very beautiful ...
You may have already considered this... But i have 3 bikes hanging from my ceiling on retractable pulleys. Opened up a tone of space on my shop floor.
We want bikes easily accessible by the kids
Simply inspiring and i'll take some of yours ideas to realize an amelioration of my workshop. Thanks to share yours realisations
Great shop. A outside storage shed if possible would give you space and the lighting is excellent.
Yeah, I only wish. HOA says no way
lol first comment hearted
You have done a great job of space use. The LED light is the only light I use in my shop. I also really like how you have a place for even the smallest tools and bits. Merry Christmas.
a place for everything and everything in it's place is a motto I try to live up to
Thats kind of garage that im dreaming of. Great!! Sorry do you a full timer woodworker? Or also work in office, just currious. Thanks n always goodluck:)
Yes, I'm full time creator
Love the tour. My 2 car garage is 16' x 16' and have to share with all the gardening tools my wife has.... so for a 2 car garage you are really lucky!
Yes, it's a lovely space
Brad, great shop For Realz!! Looking forward to many more projects from Ya Bud. You missed a great right around 05:20ish mark But, I'm sure other ppl. will tell Ya about it. It was fun to do that. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
thanks, Mike! And great catch :)
@@Fixthisbuildthat Only because you started that game. It was fun. But, all joking aside Fantastic shop Bud. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out again!!
Thanks for the videos you post. Simple question: do you edge band the plywood doors, drawers and exposed edges of the cabinets? If you do, do you use the iron on edge banding (how well would that hold up in the summer heated garage) or do you cut thin strips and nail/ glue them on?
I don't edge them since the baltic birch looks so nice and doesn't have voids
I never thought about this before...With as many pocket holes as you drill, I'm surprised you don't already have the Kreg Foreman.
Should have a "basically" counter as well. Lol
The shop is clean and well maintained👍 the best way to get rid of that wood over there is by doing more projects😎
Absolutely!
"when I lived in Cincinnati" sorry dude.
😂😂😂 I sure wasn't there for the sports. But we loved Cincinnati...amazing parks system and great food (Dewey's, Graeters, Montgomery Inn, Skyline)
Great shop tour and thank you for doing a giveaway!
Good luck!
Great video and Great shop along with a Great Give-a-way..... Thank you for the video you did a outstanding job always love your videos. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
😀👍 Thanks!
Ye, I learnt lots how to set up woodworking shops from
amusingwoodworking com
Your shop looks awesome! Love your humor as well. :) All the best for a prosperous 2020, and Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thank you, Kathleen!
It’s like listening to Chris Treager from Parks and Recreation. Change “great” to “literally” and your spot on...lol. All kidding aside, your shop is awesome.
I’m so glad you did a shop tour! I’m (hopefully) getting my shop in better shape this year and yours always looks so awesome! There are a ton of great storage options in there too. Great tour!!
Thanks, David!
Do you have a yard? Build a shed for the bikes and wood storage. Think of the shed build videos...
I would in a heartbeat if my HOA would let me
@@Fixthisbuildthat I was able to get permission from my HOA to build a shed you just have to do it according to their rules.
Yes, our rules are no sheds 😂😂
@@Fixthisbuildthat - sorry... Best bet, move to a place with no HOA. I am looking right now and that is the first criteria.
@@Fixthisbuildthat - I actually actually had to run power to it and build in on a poured concrete slab. It wasn't called a shed. There was a loophole, I forget what the details were now. There might be a way.
"Great." The new "like."
You missed a great at 5:22. So I found the missing great. Do I win the planner?
Great catch! But, no 😀
I finally saw some ear protection at 16:34. But ... those ear muffs looked dusty. Brad - please protect your ears. As a tinnitus sufferer, I can tell you it is NO FUN. It only takes a moment to pop in ear plugs or put on ear muffs and save your ears from irreparable damage.
Watch any of my build vids and you'll see I wear them religiously 👍👍
10:48 I heard, "It serves me great...but I want to up-great it." It's like Pavlov's woodworker--I was conditioned to hear the great-ness. :D
When muted it looks like you are selling used cars in a TV commercial. Good content tho.
I'm excitable
My favorite woodworking channel :).. also the shop looks pretty shweet!
thank you so much!
Are there people whose only mission in life is to thumbs down every video they see?
Absolutely there are...
Didn't mention the brand of tablesaw. Sawstop?
harbor freight sells a bike tree/stand that can hold 6+ bikes. it works great (1) for kids bike but does not do so well with larger adult bikes which is not so great (2).
Great suggestion 😀👍
I keep looking at the 16x7 garage door and the empty space over it I'm also looking at a ladder.
There is no reason you cant store home improvement stuff on that area above the door and hang the bikes from the ceiling to get them up out of the way. Also I've seen a lot of ways to hang items like storage areas from the ceiling like big 4x8 storage areas. You could get most the clutter off the floor.
You have plenty of room if you think vertical.
The space over the garage door when it's open is serious dead wasted space.
Unless you have storage over the tracks it useless most of the time but it's a great place to build a hang down storage area that lives above an open door.
Dont weld in the driveway. Kids will watch you weld and it will burn there eyes. Dont do it. I worked in a machine shop by the welder we put up screens becuse the flash off the welders were really hard on your eyes even facing away from them. Looking at migwelding is worse then looking at the Sun.
I guess I'm way to late for the jet give away...?
Damit
by the end, you sounded like Lumbergh from office space with all the greats
😂 😂 😂
jelly. :/
you deserve it though, RESPECT! :)
peace
thank you!
Five stars for the Norm picture.
Lol new Yankee workshop.
I watched him his first show on this old house in the 70's. With the orignal host.
Wow, you need safety sunglasses, you do know all your tiny mistakes will glare at you and smile now. Poor lighting is not going to hide them.
Hey Brad. Going to build the mitre saw station and in the market for a new shop vac for some dust collection. I saw you ditched the 4 gal from the build and have a larger vac in the stand. What do you recommend? How are you running your dust collection with the mitre saw now? Thanks bud. Great videos too by the way.
dream workshop wordworking....so very good an clean
I'm glad you didnt open that box at the top of the screen at 4:45. RUclips may have had to sensor it out if you had :)
Brad, love your videos. Question for you concerning the Armor assembly table. Do you find the width of that assembly table to be sufficient for what you build or do you find yourself wishing it was wider and a I guess longer? Thanks.
If you could sum up your shop in one word, what would it be?
Fair
Looks great . Don't forget cheaper to run LED s than regular lighting
Not knocking your channel at all or the amount of time you spend wood working for your channel but it sure must be nice having a sponsor like Jet and WoodCraft to have access to their power tools. Wish it was me!
Great video Brad! It amazes me that you do all that you do in this workspace. It encourages me to get out to mine and make more stuff. Thanks.
Exactly what I'm trying to do!
Do you have a brand that you like the best, ie hand tools. ?
You got a really good shop. How about helping us home owners out that have to use the garage for our shop by creating a video that rates some big power tools like a miter saw and a table saw that we can use. Something along the "best bang for your buck" with all the sales going on for the holiday season. It sure would be helpful.
I really like this layout 👍
thanks!
Love your channel and videos! Would you share the software you use for CAD, please? Just saw the drawing you had in your Stories video for the closet organizer...I’ve been doing my plans by hand and need to update my approach; even better if the software does a cut list! Thank you!
Build a small shed for the bikes and gardening tools
Hi Brad, i noticed that you used brad-point drill bits in a few of your videos. Which ones do you recommend? Thanks!!
Nice shop!! You should have gotten a Shapeoko 3XXL for a CNC....just saying!!
You are very lucky to have an great shop. It’s very nice.
thanks!
Jet is your sponsor?? Amazing! Great equipment!
Yes, it's awesome stuff!
Love your shop. Cabinets are perfect. Norm photo is the best! ❤️
Norm just tops it off 😀
we need the 2020 video with the new tools and the miter saw station
I’m so glad that someone on RUclips has acknowledged Norm Abrams and what he has done for the woodworking hobby. He got me started all those years ago too.
Brad, love your channel and videos! Great tour of the shop also. One question - Here's a question for a behind the scenes tool - what do you use to film with? I've been pondering some filming in my own shop for some local classes but don't have the money to start off with 2 or 3 nice DSLR camera's just yet. Do you just move one camera around to different locations or do you have a multi-camera setup for filming? With close up camera angles I see some guys using, I wonder if they use go-pro type cameras.
Man I like most of your projects can I make anything to sell? I really don’t want to impose to much.
Awesome shop. Can't wait to see the off cut pieces projects. 👍
Coming soon!
Could I plz have your old planer
I’m 12 years old and I’m trying to build out my shop.
What brand and model is your table saw.
Great shop in progress of building up my own.
why not build a bike rack for the bikes like we had in school when i was akid
that's on the list
What do you do for power to all those mobile stations? Do u have a ceiling mounted extension cord reel?
Great tour , sucks your using Gleam for giveaway it never works for me no matter how many times i try to sign in.
Doesn't the 5K lights give off a blue-ish tint? That's been my experience with them anyway. Videos look fantastic!
A lot depends on the technology and the CRI. If you have high CRI and 5000K, it will most closely mimic noon-day sun on a clear blue sky mid summer. It is a "pure white" light, with good representation of all wavelengths of light along the visible spectrum. Cheap LEDs with low CRI (CRI 70-80) will be missing the phosphors that produce the red end of the color spectrum, giving the lights a little "blue" feeling, even though it is 5000K. Most "daylight" fluorescent tubes are 6500K, which will will feel more like midwest overcast days, and will be more bluish. As you go higher than 5000K, the light gets more bluish, and as you go lower than 5000K, the light becomes more orange.
