Thanks for going over multiple outcomes for different inputs. Kind of curious on the 'comfortable side', growing up on BMX and mountain bikes, occasional dirtbike and riding a street bike for the past several years, my left has always been my more comfortable side. I wonder if the kickstand was on the other side(even go as far as saying switch gear shifter+brake), it would be the other way around? I bet there's something to with always throwing your right leg over something. On motorbikes I always attributed it to the right foot-rear brake part. Dritbikes def prepared me for those oh-shit moments on the street when the bike slips around some.
I always thought it was just a stunt skill until I saw somebody in the street use it to escape an accident. The guy had total control of his bike and avoided an intersection pull out. I think it's a great skill that could save your life.
I actually avoided an accident too. Minivan cut me off, I hit the brakes....I wasn't gonna stop in time....luckily I Accidentally locked the rear, and felt the Ass-end start to kick left....so I stayed CALM, and gracefully drifted Off the road, and ironically RIGHT into the entrance of a motorcycle dealer!(as kids were watching this go on...).....The fucked up part, is the parking lot entrance was littered with pot holes, and I managed to dodge ALL of them.....time slowed down, I knew if I panicked, I was fucked....so I just kinda "went" with it.....It's kinda funny how when you try to "trick" yourself into enjoying the Danger/Fear....you usually pull out fine!
I was on a country road and came up on a deer standing in the center of the road. So I decided if I locked up the brakes I’d be below 15mph by the time I hit him. Dodging and hitting a tree was not an option, with huge trees right on the ditch line. My rear brake started to squall, and came around on the left. The sound startled the deer and she bolted just in the nick of time, I left off the brakes and sailed right past! I thought about giving her a slap on the rump as I went by, but I didn’t want to push my luck. This all happened in half of a second.
Any sort of skill that gives you an improvement to your driving or riding is a useful skill. Drifting in cars would be a 'stunt' skill in most situations until the time you end up having to use it.
It's that initial freak-out of feeling the rear tire in a side-ways skid, especially if you've trained your mind to expect solid traction at all times and equate danger = skidding. I think people who have a lot of dirt skill before moving to street have a lot less sensitivity toward loss of wheel traction because dirt riding is all about managing wheels that are skidding all over the place.
after riding for over 35 years, I must say this is something everybody who rides a bike should learn, this will save your ass!! Wet riding and those crazy moments in the end it all comes down to balance, if you can drift with no feet down you have a good life saving skill!!

can you use this same technique for faster drifts? i saw jorge lorenzo's dad teaching how to drift by getting into turns at the very edge of the tires and really fast.. it works but this is totally different since he does not use the rear brake, knee on the ground is you main support and its a rule but more important it looks much harder and very easy to lowside doing it. you can check his videos searching "chicho lorenzo derrapando". greetings from argentina dude!

Simple, either it has a way to disable rear wheel abs, or you can take out the fuse for it. But you should first look what is the case for your bike, but there is always a way
@@sepro5135 found it, in my case it also disables the odometer, there is no way to disable one, disables both always, confirmed with the machanic as well

Quite simply,99% of drifts happen on the left, cos the rear brake is on the right and you can get your left foot down for balance if needed. If its a right hand drift and it goes wrong and you lift your brake,to get support, balance etc, you have a good chance of a high side.Great informative vid!

This made me sub. I love drifting. Ive been drifting cars since 2006. Dont know how to drift a motorcycle. Bought a motorcycle 4 years ago and have caught accidental drifts. Didnt go down but wanted to learn how to do it properly. But just like a car and trying to learn and understand the full limits of it. What it can do, as well as what I can make it do in order to become a better driver, I want to do the same on my bike. i bet kinda getting into drifting a bike is gonna give you a lot of track usage too, when you're rolling it on coming of an apex and the rear starts going you can catch it and ride it out, kinda like the motogp guys do, making it seem as easy as a kneedown.
It looks awesome when you do it, if I'm being honest my longest "drifts" have been accidental because of muddy parking lots. First year rider on a klr not sure it's quite built for tricks.
I just subscribed to this channel 😊. I m a newer Supersport rider and I don't many friends who ride sportbikes, so I try to find videos that can me be a better rider. Thanks for making this video because it helped me with sliding the rear tire and shows how to do it in "baby steps". Ill continue to follow videos and thanks again for the advice. The comradery is awesome with the motorcycle community (for the most part) and its nice when more advanced rider share thier techniques with less experienced riders like myself.
I'm working on this skill now, thanks for the instruction :) Note: Make sure your ABS is off if you have it, I didn't know why I couldn't lock up my rear brake when I started trying this and that's the reason why.
Take the seat off, find the fuse box & remove fuse responsible for Abs, there will be two fuses, remove only one which says 30A. Doing so will disable Abs. If there is only one fuse, or you remove both Abs fuses then that will make your speedo meter stop.
8 years ago while coming home from an especially bad day at work.. I was blowing off steam by drifting corners on my VFR800. Heavy ass bike and I'd only been riding a couple years at that point. It worked, and it was fun, but due to inexperience after 4 corners I then went too sideways and instinctively backed off the throttle. So, the wheel gripped, and the bike flipped sideways throwing me straight up. Landed flat on my back from however high I went, mild concussion and whiplash that restricted movement of my neck for 13 months. I had gear on, and even rode the bike home afterward but still.. I'd love to learn proper stunting in future, but not without a caged bike and back/neck support.. because not knowing if my spine would ever recover following a year of pain before I'd even turned 21, was not fun. Stay safe out there
Thanks for the time you took to teach! I'm not gonna lie it's easier for me to learn from ppl like you cause my ego doesn't get in my way and stop me from asking fellow riders in person fearing someone talking shit cause I'm asking how to do something so many riders act like doing stunts came from common knowledge not learning from someone else! God forbid I don't know how to do a wheelie or a drift and I had to ask for help!
Good stuff man! I came here in interest to learn to slide for flat track racing on small bikes (left and right hand turns). This will be very useful. Thank you!
Not unless your bike has TRC. My new ZX10R KIB's won't let the tire break loose. And you can't turn KIB's off. You gotta take KIB's out or eliminate it.
@@brian636 its like "i can't play basketball because i don't have basketball shoes on" even people who dont even have legs play basketball.... excuses LOL.
Noobs man, noobs thinking 10mins will make them a stunt rider. you should know lachy that mastering foot brake takes hundreds of hours, and even when you have it down, then you have to learn the next, steps, coasters, tip-ins for circles, stoppies etc.
I have been doing this most of my life. From childhood to now. First a bigwheel, bicycles, dirtbikes, and street bikes. You explained it well. It was cool to see another person's process.
Enjoyed the vid, thanks! I've never done this with my street bikes, but would do it all the time when I first started riding dirt bikes...some 4 decades ago! High siding in the dirt is entirely different than on asphalt!! Yeah...I'm ancient.
Hey Brian, Thanks for the vid. Quick request. I ride supermoto with a big single and just love backing it into hairpins. But I don't use any rear brake at all, just compression brake. I'm curious to know if that would work with the 4cyl. Approach at speed, clutch in, kick it down 2 and drop clutch then feather for control. Just past apex, crack the throttle open and the front floats up as you drift the exit. I think it feels so deluxe because the wheel never completely stops turning, it's just turning at a different speed to the bike, too little, then a bit too much. It's the most fun thing I've ever done with pants on. Would love to see how the big stunt bike handles it and I'll bet it makes for a good video.
Having learned this skill can one day say your life on the road when you one day for some reason loose grip on the rear tire (do to hard braking, gravel, oil, ice or any other that can trigger it), it is not just for doing stunts... It can also be very useful for avoiding obstacles in the road.
You are a very brave lad Brian. I am 52 and trying to learn to wheelie and drift. I am very happy that I found your crazy ass to learn from ha ha. Subscribed and ready to watch all your vids.
good afternoon or evening brian were ever you may be..just wanted to let ya know...i did my first brake slide on my bike..made the back tire slide around..kinda like a whip i guess..getting to know my bike alot..hoping one day to try my first wheelie on a harley no less...but thank u for showing the info on basic tricks..
Holy shit I can do this, I CAN DO THIS, I know I can, I believe in myself! It's just like when I learnt to slide around on my bicycle as a kid, expect with a motorcycle and more complex. Thank You for this video brother!
thanks a lot man! Also guys, use boots and or proper legs protections... specially your foot! is a very fragile part of your body and one of the most easy to fkd up part of you body when you above on a bike. One of my first crashes I had I fkd up my thumb from my right foot, now I can no longer bent it fully as it soldered bad, no big deal is just a finger on my foot don't really care... but at the same time it would've of been so much worst if half my foot got broken or even my ankle... it is no joke, USE PROTECTIONS!!!!!!!!!!
@@TroyNoChill the rear footbrake took most of the impact it bent like an L and I scratched above my foot and my right thumb took some of the hit. I went that same day to the hospital and got told it was "just the hit" and I should take meds and painkillers and it will go away, even tho I told them I couldn't move it fully. So long story short my finger ended up bad and I didn't had the energy or will to go and complain to said hospital, where I live if you don't have money for good lawyers all those claims takes years to go trough it was just not worth the hassle. I can move my finger and I can walk just fine tho it does hurts time to time but not a big a deal. (if your curious about the crash itself a car "pushed" me against another parked car)
GutsRage glad you are ok man. Just sold my bike I think ill stay off for a year or so.. 2 bikes so far and no fall so I’m lucky... also a super cautious(scared) rider lol I think that helps
@@TroyNoChill yo as long you fallow street rules, speed limits and all that shit nothing should happen to you. be careful on raining days (like seriously don't go above 20...30 on rain be patience) use always protections, and have fun... having a bike is not about doing tricks and cool sht, is more about riding it and enjoying the wind on your face. Keep it safe! :D ps. don't be afraid, when some1 gets scared reacts badly and ended up in bad situations, in short keep a cool head, open your eyes at all times and don't get distracted.
@@brian636 Haha I subscribed. ❤ love the channel dude. How would you recommend approaching balance point on a wheelie? I can chase it out pretty high up I just don't have the balls to hit balance point yet.
Why do people try and hide what the video is about for the suspense. I read the title and clicked on the video didn't I so I already know what it's about... But anyway, can this be done on a bike with ABS where you can't lock the rear?

I'm working on this skill now, thanks for the instruction :)
Note: Make sure your ABS is off if you have it, I didn't know why I couldn't lock up my rear brake when I started trying this and that's the reason why.
But how do you rurn it off? I cant find how you do that
Take the seat off, find the fuse box & remove fuse responsible for Abs, there will be two fuses, remove only one which says 30A. Doing so will disable Abs. If there is only one fuse, or you remove both Abs fuses then that will make your speedo meter stop.
DON'T do a face reveal video..
Do NOT plan on it! hahahhaa
i was just going to say that!!!!
I don’t wanna be disappointed
I wanna build a stunt bike just to practice this. This is literally the coolest thing you can do on a bike lol 😂
It is super fun man!!!!! Check out some more of my stunt videos brother!!!!
@@brian636 I will!! Keep up the great content bro!
besides ride one safely
Don't need a stunt bike dude
what bike was in the video?
I think we need more stunt tutorials. I've been learning a lot from these tutorials as I've been branching out from just doing wheelies.
Stay safe out there
High sided bad it sound like man.... Glad you are okay brother. Please subscribe and check out some more of my videos brother! Brian
I understand that feeling brother. Please look through the rest of my tutorials as well
@@brian636 I am and I subbed up!
I never clicked on a video so fast lol this video was super requested even just for me like I really wanted you to do this vid
Hell ya it was hahahahhaa
that grey suv is haunting you in the lot :D
Lurking hahhahahahahahhaha
Trying to block his rear wheels and turn at the same time
Thank you for the instructions. One of the bests if not the best video on youtube
Thanks ray! Please subscribe brother
@@brian636 Done, Brian. : ))))
Dudee finally thank u so much. I already shared this💪🔥💯
My mannnnnn YOU RULE
Good stuff man! I came here in interest to learn to slide for flat track racing on small bikes (left and right hand turns). This will be very useful. Thank you!
Pretty dope you dropped your bike to show us what can happen 💯💯 thank you for that tutorial!
AWESOME & ACCURATE INFO!!!! Be safe all.
Thanks man.... Means alot to hear that from guys like you! Please share this video brother!
Every tutorial you have done can be done on a stock bike I don’t know why people get annoyed that your doing on a stuntbike.
Not unless your bike has TRC. My new ZX10R KIB's won't let the tire break loose. And you can't turn KIB's off. You gotta take KIB's out or eliminate it.
It is unfortunately the world we live in.... Excuses....
brian_636 well they are really riders they just want to find a easy way out
@@brian636 its like "i can't play basketball because i don't have basketball shoes on" even people who dont even have legs play basketball.... excuses LOL.
I think this is a good tutorial even for just knowing your bike.
Yeah just for defensive riding it is a good skill to have
you should do how to highchair next
👌
If this video gets 1500 likes.... I WILL DO IT! I PROMISE YOU
brian_636 spreader video 🙏
brian_636 No handed highchair circle wheelie tutorial.
Enjoyed the vid, thanks! I've never done this with my street bikes, but would do it all the time when I first started riding dirt bikes...some 4 decades ago!
High siding in the dirt is entirely different than on asphalt!! Yeah...I'm ancient.
2019 might be the year i put a cage on my bike and try stunting, and I blame mostly you and dank. :)
Hell ya man!!!!! That is awesome!
same 🤣👍🏼✊🏽
Hey Brian, Thanks for the vid.
Most fun you can have with your pants on LOL Please subscribe and check out some more of my videos brother! Brian
one of the best bike tutorials I've seen, thanks
All love brother
In love with that sounds effect wrooom wrooom .....!! 😍🔥😂
Thanx for this tutorial....
No problem man!!! Check out some more of my videos and subscribe man!
Having learned this skill can one day say your life on the road when you one day for some reason loose grip on the rear tire (do to hard braking, gravel, oil, ice or any other that can trigger it), it is not just for doing stunts... It can also be very useful for avoiding obstacles in the road.
You got that right man!!!! Super useful skill for all riders to at least experience!!! Please subscribe dude!
I’ve seen the slow standing wheelies, rad to see u making vids on youtube
I needed this. Only thing I need to know is how to come out of it. That seems to be the moment I highside.
Come farther up and gas out of it. Never let off the gas. THats when you get hurt lol. Much love brother
brian_636 hell yeah man. Trying to find another lot out here to get this shit going. Thanks dude
Watch this. Might help demonstrate how you cannot be timid on the gas. ruclips.net/video/q2BKzRhuyrk/видео.html
I wanna learn more stuff!
You are a very brave lad Brian. I am 52 and trying to learn to wheelie and drift. I am very happy that I found your crazy ass to learn from ha ha. Subscribed and ready to watch all your vids.
i subbed bro 😎😎 and i cant wait till you get the subs you deserve, Very skilled. 💯
Thank you man.... Means alot to here that, please just share the videos and channel with friends! Maybe one day Ill get there!!! Much love Brian
Always been scared to do wheelies but this could be a compromise
This looks like so much fun! I'm a fairly new rider but wanna get into doing this kind of stuff in the future.
Can you do a “ how to “ on a one handed hand stand while doing a wheelie ? 😂 Happy new year bless up 🤘🏼
I wish I could do that man hahahahahhhahahahha Happy New Year brother
"you just vrum vrum " XD
Yes sisrrr
good afternoon or evening brian were ever you may be..just wanted to let ya know...i did my first brake slide on my bike..made the back tire slide around..kinda like a whip i guess..getting to know my bike alot..hoping one day to try my first wheelie on a harley no less...but thank u for showing the info on basic tricks..
RIP to the ones who high side tryin this 😂😂
I hope people lowside and not highside
Ayyy dat me
LMFAO i high sided like 3 weeks ago doing a rolling burnout at like 70km/h
Perfect way u turn in a police chase quicker then they would expect LEARN THIS PEOPLE.
Ended up wiping out in a grocery store parking lot. Was the most fun I've had in a while
Instructions unclear. High sided of a mountain.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Happens to the best of us lol! Please subscribe!
a little an issue there! ABS kept me out of drifting !
Excellent tutorial! The old lady "What" flash was hilarious.
I’m assuming ABS gets in the way of doing this successfully?
That's a point
Duh. Probably want to turn it off, just guessing though 🤣
"Everyone can do this, it's just clutch, gas and rear brake."
*stares in electric bike*
Don’t think learning this on a hayabusa is a good idea but it’s so tempting, looks so cool.
Hey man quick question, what shoes do you ride or stunt with? Any specific reason why?
Always wear motorcycle gear - especially if you're new to this. If you fall, your gear (including your shoes) will save you
I normally just where Nike high tops to be honest man. Much love! Please subscribe
8:50 that's what I'm afraid of... watch that clip over and over... the tire kinda gets grip and pushes you
Yeah, always better to gas to much then not enough
brian_636 yep! Will be out tomorrow!
GutsRage a finger on your foot 🤔🤔
I left a link in the description where I get all my kevlar clothing from man!!! Much love
ps. don't be afraid, when some1 gets scared reacts badly and ended up in bad situations, in short keep a cool head, open your eyes at all times and don't get distracted.
Watches 15 min on how to drift. Goes out on a group ride says "watch this"....forgets he isnt street rossi
HAHAHAHHAHAAA Oh jesus lol. Please film that next time lol. Please subscribe to bro!
@@brian636 Haha I subscribed. ❤ love the channel dude. How would you recommend approaching balance point on a wheelie? I can chase it out pretty high up I just don't have the balls to hit balance point yet.
I'm watching this video at 5am..
good morning buddy!
Ma teacher 👌🏻😁
Ma dudeeee
Why do people try and hide what the video is about for the suspense. I read the title and clicked on the video didn't I so I already know what it's about... But anyway, can this be done on a bike with ABS where you can't lock the rear?
@@solipsist_brandon if you really slam that rear brake it might still lock up even with abs
U can kind of get your abs bike into a slide, but probably more difficult than on a non abs bike
Yeah you can if you turn off the ABS. I guess I didnt think about it lol
The thing with abs it stops slip with braking but not with acceleration, so you could still try and work a way around it.
There's a sweet spot with the clutch, midway between on and off as it starts to grab, that will let you lock up the rear with abs on
You really make the best explained stunt tutorial vids!
Idk why I’m watching this, I can’t do this on my 200cc dirt bike.
when you’re in the middle of the drift you keep pressing the rear break down right??
No, just to get the bike slip, when you are drifting it's just on and off the gas.
That last shot looks sooo good…
