Andrew is evidently a good guy as he continues to try to win Attica's love instead of avoiding her.
That's a cat person for you (probably....) 😂❤
Maybe he could just respect her boundaries instead?
@@zammmerjammer Or maybe not, if you manage to improve the relationship with a cat in a house you frequent, everyone has something to gain from it, first of all the cat but also the guest and the owners who will no longer have to fear the cat's reactions, it certainly doesn't have to be become torture tho.

Reminds me of my sister’s cat. I moved in and this cat HATED me until I bought an electric blanket. Then she decided I was her best friend and new night time snuggle buddy
Haha really
Mmhm they love those things
Lmao… love it!! 💛😁🫶🏽
That is adorable
😂😂😂
Attica just needed to be understood.
She's "different". & Always will be.
I think she wants to be able to check people out in her own time. Best to let her do that without trying to pet her in the early stages.
SHe like beards. Grow a beard and you will see. We seen another cat like that in this channel.
And she does not like pets that goes near her.. back.
@@user-bj5nw6rw9iAgreed! …she only liked her head/face pet, by people that she doesn’t know or trust yet. You’re 100% right.👏
@@user-bj5nw6rw9i
My cat does the same thing. I can pet his head and scratch under his chin but, if I try to pet down his back he automatically tries to bite me, but it's not an I'm mad at you bite it's an I want to play bite, every time you touch his back, tail or belly. Mine will lay on the floor or wherever and roll on his back like he wants to be pet, and you might get just the one pet bc, he'll try to hold your arm and rabbit kick and bite at the same time. I've had him since he was 6-8 wks old, the owner at the time didn't remember when he was born but, we knew just by looking at him what his age was. Since day one that I got him he only likes his head pet and everything else means play. I'm hoping he grows out of that but if not, it is what it is. Some cats are just like that, hypersensitive, they want play time. According to Jackson Galaxy, from My Cat From Hell, it's normal and some cats are just hypersensitive like him. You can train cats but, it's a lot of hard work, consistency and clicker training is best, IMO. Make the training a few times a day but make it at the same times every day, make it part of their daily routine. Have a great day and God bless.
Attica after Andrew's constant attempts to win her over.
"I will TOLERATE your presence"
😂😂 pour guy
My tortie is the exact same way, she hisses at my sister when she walks by but will occasionally be nice and let my sister pet her
Tortitude, I get that. Never know what you'll get from day to day. I think mine has multiple personalities 🤣
@@trixie898989 I must have the two only exceptions to this tortie with an attitude thing.
I've two torties and they're both the most chill, most affectionate, most velcro-cat of all cats. Never heard my oldest one hiss until recently (we moved houses and she was not happy with the movers!) and at that point we had already had her for 5 years! My littlest one is 2 years old and still have never heard her hiss... she used to growl and get all puffed up when someone would ring our doorbell so we decided to mute it so she would not be startled but I've yet to see one single bit of tortitude coming from either one of them!
Yeah, I have a poorly socialized tortie calico mix, and she has three moods, scream for attention, attack one of our other cats who has cerebral hibroplasia, and quiet as a mouse.
It's nice to see a video where they accomodate a stressed cat instead of forcing love upon her and grabbing her. The title had me worried!
I don't think she's stressed. She's a queen who rules her kingdom with a massive amount of self confidence and authority. And an abundance of attitude and sass!
I agree, but they actually do grab her and force her to be held against her will multiple times in the video.
@@nstitches They pick her up. Not really a "grab". This diva isn't going to be held a second longer than she wants to be.

What a great guy! He is so patient with her. I think he is winning her over.
She definitely trusts her enemy..😂. Accepting the food from his hand.😂
My exact thought when I saw it happen. My cat hates my mom and refuses to eat anything she gives her . She will literally wait til I get home for me to fix new food bc she will not touch what my mom has put out. 😂 I make sure to always be the one who fixes her food .
cats can change. my thirteen year old persian cat hated sitting on laps for most of his life, yesterday he sat on my lap for five minutes, i think he's finally coming around.
My half Siamese has lain on me exactly twice in her sixteen years. I'm expecting a turnaround any time now.

@michaelleitner1245 Aww... I love that. I have a cat like that, she's 18 and when she hit about 15 years, she suddenly became a super lovey cat. It took me off guard, but she's lucky to have you who lives her just for who she is.🥰
I thought Persians were lap cats lol
That's how you do it. Patience, persistence, move gently and not getting upset.
always let a kitty sniff your hand first, don't put your hand above their head and try to touch head first. Always offer hand, then stroke cheek and scratch under ear. See how it works when he does that?! She's a cool cat, glad you all showed her patience and allowed her to make her own rules.
One thing that set off one if my loving cats was catnip. She became downright mean. Your cat may be even more sensitive to scent than most cats
@@patirvin-bz9pgGood point. Something is triggering her behavior, and it doesn't seem to be what she's seeing.
Also, cats tend to go to people who are calm. He should try out to completely ignore her, that will result her in accepting him after a while
He did do that. She still doesn't like him 😂
The best thing Andrew can do is ignore her. She's just playing him 😂
She just has some strong boundaries. I'll say I do enjoy her interactions with Uncle Andrew, she takes none of his nonsense even though he's so kind to her
This is my favorite comment. Agreed, 100% 👏😹
A little chunky. Lol. Love is blind ❤
Right?!?!!!
Overfeeding is not love.
Stop trying so hard. Ignore the cat. Seriously, it will drive the cat mad. It will want your attention.
Not till you pet him. He want you to pet him but he don't want you to pet him.
JUST CAME HERE TO SAY THIS! He's actually provoking these attacks! Just leave her alone. She's fine when she is in charge, and there's nothing wrong with that!
Sigh. Cat psychology is not that complicated. I'm glad they are trying, but seriously!
Just STOP TRYING! Cats figure out their boundaries quite easily.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
So many cat experts in the comment section 😂
@@sophiabright8371cats are like people ..
I’ve never met two cats that have the same personality.. period
With her it could be jealousy because he’s taking attention away from her ‘chosen person’
I know many cats that need love forced on them
Others that do things at their pace, some that can be moody
Some that are triggered (perhaps he reminds her of a person who abused her in the past)
It’s all about getting to know your individual cats personally and figuring it out from there and finding what your cats love language is ….
Yep that’s a thing 😂
I’m so tired of everyone lumping cats into the same box - so what works for one may not work for others
Just cause it works for your cats - or cats youve encountered doesn’t mean it will work the same for all cats 🐱
I’ve been called the cat whisperer in my life .. I seem to never have problems with any cats - even problematic aloof ones seem to warm to me
Cause I take the time to understand them , I understand them as an individual and adjust my behaviour accordingly
that Andrew guy doesn't understand the signs Attica gives him. a cat shows you exactly how she wants to be petted and Attica always gets mad when he thinks "yeah, I'm gonna do my own petting scheme, gonna do more here, gonna do more th- WTF YOU BITIN' ME?!" Srsly, dude, learn to read the room.
This one gets it.
Yep, cats are sensitive to touch and especially some more than others. She is perfect with him when he isn't rushing or forcing contact on her. It's not that she doesn't like him, she is needing to reach shouting point because he is not hearing her more subtle cues.
Big sassy chonk!!
My brothers cat is the same way. She loves him only. He can play with her, carry her, feed her, but she will be damned if I look in her direction.
I read just yesterday that cats will bond with the human who puts forth the most effort, and he's certainly trying.
I've also heard cats don't like constant attention/staring because it feels like being hunted, so I hope he's not trying too hard XD
Can u tell my cats that? They want to be permanently fused to my side and don’t know when enough is enough
Let the cat come to you. You can't force a relationship they don't want. This is how I won over my roommate's cat. No one but his mom could touch him. It took a few months, but friends were amazed when I posted pics of me holding him snuggled against my face.
I had a cat that ignored visitors who liked cats and showered him with their attention, and instead would persistently gravitate to people who were distrustful or fearful of cats. It made for some very amusing scenarios!
I think Jackson Galaxy needs to get on the phone with them.
Im suspecting a mixture of lack of vertical space and possibly psychological issues requiring meds. Some cats desperately want affection but are limited by chemical imbalance that makes them rev up way too fast. This seems like such a cat.
@@benjamingardner3314 I agree.
We had a small black cat called Button who became the Cat From Hell. She didn’t want contact, would rip you to shreds, but she never missed watching whatever was going on or going on dog walks. My husband renamed her Nasty. The poor old girl finally got dementia & didn’t have a clue who we were or who she was. It was thought she had a reasonable dose of “wild” in her genes. She lived with our other 6 cats for 15 years, moved 4 times including acres in the country, & created her own place in our hearts. She had a good life & I’m glad we could provide it. Even at personal peril!!

As some who has a cat that hates everyone I love seeing people who are doing everything right with their spicy kitty. Slow and steady let the cat make the first move and over time you will win their trust and when you do it is the best feeling in the world and so rewarding.
This cat definitely gives off major Garfield vibes, in a good way. LOL
😂😂😂
I could see some people did not pet her the right away such as on the back near the tail before gaining her trust. This cat is so adorable and in control💓💓💓😻😻😻
I saw that too, and cringed.
Are you sure she doesn’t have a back problem and she hurts when she’s touched! She does have an attitude!😺❤️
My kid’s dad’s cat was like this kitty. The only person she liked was my ex. The only time she was sweet to me is when he went to jail and I took her while he was in locked up. She became super loving, but only to me. When he got out and went home, she immediately became his girl again, and returned to being spicy for me. Rip nala
Awe she's just temperamental lol! I'm so glad you are patient with her personality as a lot of people would of NEVER kept her. And kudos to Andrew for working on wining her trust rather than be mad or afraid of her.
OMG ITS ATTICA!!!!! Our Favorite spicy paprika cinnamon loaf❤❤❤❤❤
I think it’s because Andrew wears his SHOES inside his friends house and the car doesn’t appreciate it.
I'm so glad she started being nicer to Andrew. My mother had a cat nearly identical to Attica in size, color and attitude! I was never once able to pet her in the 17 years my mother had her. My formerly feral cat, who doesn't let anyone pet him other than me, will just walk away.
Attica just love all the attention 😂😂
Attica the Fattica ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Attica was just not having it. But I appreciate that he worked to build her trust and was persistent in his efforts over time. Also the fact that the cat is on social media aa Fattica19 is hilarious. She's just a chonky, spicy kitty.
I feel so bad for this beautiful kitty! It is probably stressed for a reason. Also, please look into this adorable cat's diet and activity level so that future diseases like heart disease and diabetes and kidney failure can hopefully be prevented.
She is on a diet and has lost weight. For a large unit she can really move, she always runs around on their videos.
She’s adorable!!❤❤❤❤
Absolutely love how much she is daddy’s little girl! 💕💕💕my heart melts.
So grateful she's your pet and not Kristi Noem's.
she's not chunky, she's just too filled up of love 🤣❤
Nah she's obese and it's detrimental to her health
Cats definitely know how much power they have over people
It's good that they took her to the vet and checked to see that she was healthy. I love that he was determined to win Attica's love. Attica seems to not like her body to be touched, and likes cheek rubs. Jack Galaxy, had a show, My Cat from Hell and read cats well. The tail switching a lot means that the cat could be overstimulated and needs a time-out. I love your story, Thanks for sharing.
You are getting there, buddy. When she accepts you fully, you will have a best friend for life. Hang in there.
It's Kung Fu Tabby... Don't mess with her 😸😁
My aunt had two cats and for the first like 10 years of my life they absolutely refused to interact with me. I was so happy when they finally let me pet them.
Same situation with my boyfriend's cat.
The cat always reacts aggressively to strangers. Or he doesn't show interest, but he keeps an eye on you and attacks you if he thinks you're suspicious. He and I went from freezing in the hallway and screaming heart-rendingly, to meeting after work, lying on my chest before bed, and I’m the only one he listens to now.
and yes, it took me 4-5 years. More time has passed, but I don’t regret it.)
Soneone call the cat whisperer 😅
One tactic to try for a swatty kitty is to NOT pull your hand away. When a cat swats with their claws out its the pulling away motion that leaves a scratch. If shes not moving backwards, you will get hurt less if you just let her lightly wap you instead giving a big reaction.
Not a good plan!!+
What an amazing guy! You can tell he is a great friend!!
Attica: hisses
Andrew: aw, I love her 🥰
The power of cats.
Attaca is probably shy of eye contact. She might interpret that as a threat until she gets used to it. Most animals have that insticnt to look away from something that is portentially aggressive in order to avert conflict. I have the theory that NOTHING on earth is more frightening to an animal than a human face.
High praise for the patience and tactics of not forcing her attention by capture. Better to let her come you on her terms, then just a couple seconds of pet time. Scratching her over the hips is something that cats reserve for trusted people - and other cats💘
Jackson galaxy would be so proud
Andrew -- now that's a true friend. Love that guy!
How refreshing to hear the owners actually took her to the vet to make sure there wasn't a medical issue, instead of dumping her somewhere like some folks would!
''a little chunky'' uh huh lol
I was the loved one. It's a high honor but a little sad. My Maggie would let only one of my 4 siblings pet her. She tolerated my husband.
A cat will cat! 😀 This guy is a good man. He's not giving up.
Speaking as avid cat lovers who are parents of a large furry brood; good people is what this cat needs and thankfully has thanx for sharing a loving story.
She clearly didn’t want her body touched/pet by the people she didn’t know or trust yet.
She was simply trying to communicate those boundaries to them…. because, as we know, felines don’t speak English. 😆
Once Uncle Andrew understood the assignment, and only touched her head, it was smooth sailing.😻 She was like, “fall in line people!” 🤣
…Well alright “Fattica19” 👏 (her social media profile name) 😹
Most people approach a kitty face first with a probing finger or hand, and that scares them. Why can't you just caress the back ?
My grandma's cat was just like her. Totally nice and calm and the minute you felt save around her, she went all berzerk. She was the reason why I was afraid like hell of cats when I was a kid.
Cats make you earn their affection.😊
Do you think she's in pain or has something like arthritis?
My Calico is exactly like this, only not fat and she doesn't discriminate. If you're not Dad, you gotta catch those dagger feet!
I did the same thing with her and took her to the vet. His words were, and I quote, "There's nothing wrong with her. She's just a b***h."
I have a 16 year old Calico cat who has always been this way. Age has helped her mellow a bit and being the only animal in the household. She doesn't like to share 😂 patience and love will help and she will get easier.
That's like my neighbor's cat, he's pretty feisty
Looks like a smallish apartment. Even though it's a fat cat now, it would likely benefit in expanding the cat's space. Need to create vertical escape spaces. Creating an upper area just for the cat with shelves etc. Didn't see any scratching posts either.
All excellent observations
Classic case of a neurotic indoors cat.

Yep...I keep thinking.
...what are they not telling us about this situation/guy? 🤔
Attica is not fat! She is perfectly proportioned!! 😺
What a fluffball 😂
Healthy? Perhaps it’s her weight that’s making her irritable.
Good point. The hard truth is that they are shortening her life. That much fat is hard on the whole body. Their vet needs to help them safety get her weight down.
She definitely needs to lose weight. That will help her a lot. It's hard on their joints, kidneys, heart... I know, because I have a chonky cat, and I'm noticing her limping a bit when she walks. I'm working on a weight loss program for her now. I'm not sure how old Attica is, but she will start struggling as she gets older. I hope you don't take offense. I genuinely want to prevent you going through trauma of diabetes, joint and heart issues.
I'm glad they accept her for who she is. She likes to be close by but she doesn't want people up in her face.😻
She's precious 😆🥰
I would be cranky if I was that fat too.

We adopted a stray and she was this way for the first year or so. You definitely couldn't touch her anywhere but the top of her head or side of the neck. Now she is a "little chunky" furball that loves to be touched everywhere.
Some cats bond to one person only and that's it.
I had a foster cat and I was her person. Then my mom adopted her and now my mom is her person. The cat had a rough start in life and is clearly afraid of most things. She loves my mom but also gets overstimulated easily. Too much petting can quickly result in a swat.
I have a little ex-feral cat and it took literally YEARS for her to completely let her guard down around me.
Just STOP!! She’ll come to you when she’s ready…and even then, don’t touch her. Wait for her to decide.
That cat is not "a little bit chunky!" She probably needs tp lose about 30% of her body weight if they want to keep her hissing and scratching for a long time.
That woman reaction well over the top ! It barely hurt
I adopted 7 tabby coat cats of different breeds in a 20 yr time frame, it's just a tabby thing. They always only pick one person to imprint on for the rest of their lives, everyone else are on a scale of how much they tolerate you. They either openly show their dislike(hiss), or they internalize it(walk away).
I don't get cat people, and I think I never will.
