Mostly because we make them afraid. At first they are just curious, but several bad experiences can lead to fear. You really just need to treat them like a dog or a baby and wean them into it.
@@infini_ryu9461 Treat them like a dog? Cats have too much dignity and independence for that. It's why I prefer them over dogs.

Too many cats have had traumatic experiences with water and it makes things difficult. People have been training them to enjoy enjoy water and it works just fine, you just have to be understanding.

I had an AMAZING cat who LOVED going for rides in the car. Couldn't WAIT! Would run to me if he heard the slightest jiggle of the cat caddy and dive into it eager to go for a ride! He also LOVED going for long walks in the woods with me! Since he showed me cats like going for walks with their person I've had two other cats who did too! 😺😺😸🐾
But I've never known a cat who was a hydrophile! This is expanding our assumptions about cats! ❤

Such a great cat mom. I had a cat who loved baths. I would turn the water on and leave to get my pajamas or whatever I needed and every time I came back he was in it. He was the coolest cat and even though it’s been about 25 years since I lost him, I still think about him every day and smile!

Ok, first, I love the name Marvin, it’s cute!! He is a great cat. As most people know most cats hate the water so this is so fun to watch. You’re lucky to have a cat so adventurous and he is so lucky to have someone who cares enough about him to give him these enrichment baths.
