I really enjoyed giving this bakery a bath 😂
😂
He was a little feisty at the groomer's lol! Didn't like the water
Lol. I loved watching that video. I'm so happy his owners have him set on a great path.
Yeah! It was such a treat to see you interact with the cutest of chonks❤
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s NOT a cat! That’s a pillow with a head and some legs.
But precious all the same. 🙏
I love your comment ❤
I want one. I wonder if we can get one at Amazon.
its a moving pillow, if you want to sleep anywhere it will come to you😂
They also make very good vibrating Heatpads 😂
I want a cat plushie that looks like this, that you can hug.
"You don't have to be ashamed, we're on a journey together." That made my heart smile. He's a great kitty.
The little girl cuddling with this *CHONK* was so cute. I bet he weighs as much as her. Adorable
Thank you for adopting this wonderful potato.
This isnt a potato, this is an entire WATERMELON
I'd describe him more like a pumpkin or some type of squash.
@@gregoryjclark81 If you're under him when he falls... there's definitely some kinda 'squash' involved!😉
Absolutely no way that cat was neglected or mistreated. No way. He is way too social, affectionate and trusting. That cat was loved and spoiled and secure.. he ran the show.
Facts!
Yeah. Perhaps the previous owner is an older person, got dementia and that's why the cat is overfed (and why the previous owner ended up hospitalized) - but it's obvious that this cat was loved and spoiled.
Yes he was definitely spoiled rotten. His owners love language was definitely treats
He might have overeaten out of stress because his previous human was sick, too 💔 maybe the other family left him with free food all day before eventually deciding to surrender him to a shelter. It's also very likely that his previous person was too sick to exercise him... But he was definitely loved. That cat found love twice, and I'm so happy for him. If only every pet could have that luck 😭
Over feeding is mistreating.
I can't stop laughing at "launches himself like a potato." We have two potatoes, probably not a third his size, but their pondering buttwiggles and then the meticulous LAUNCH is very real, lol. He's what I used to affectionately call "a beach ball kitty." I love that you're both helping him and yet accepting him as he is, where he is.
I like this fluffy cat, He makes me want to hug him. Thank you for adopting him, he deserves a lot of love and attention. That is what will help him to get the best years of his life.
Thank you for not trashing the previous owners.
They should, this is animal cruelty. If you love an animal you dont overfeed it to a point where it can barely move.
@@Melech way to read the room
My exact first thoughts when she mentioned it!
Blame doesn’t achieve anything. The important thing is what they’re doing to help him.
@@IanSizzler Oh knock it off. They obviously care about animals or they wouldn't be here.
He's very clearly a loving cat and good with kids. So glad he's found a forever home.
Thanks for adopting him, he needs you guys. 💝
I'm from Vanessa's video
He's so adorable!
I'm happy that he's cared for❤
I'm here from her video too. What an adorable chonk.
Thank you for adding him to your family. He has a wonderful personality. He eventually will be at a healthy weight. I see that you engage him into family activities. He is very thankful that you opened up your hearts to include him. 🙏
As a former fatty I feel his pain! So glad he found a forever family who cares about his health and doesn't think it's "cute" like so many do!
Can we see more of Axel and his weight loss journey. He is adorable
Their instagram is tagged in the description
Yes I second that!
Axel is charming. Please keep us posted on his progress. He’s already on his way. Lucky cat, lucky family. 🥰 👍
He's. My hero !! He's amazing! Don't worry axel. Our comet is proof not to give up on losing weight. He used to be 33 lbs. And now is handsome ...23!bls!!
Bless you for taking this boy on! Seven is still a very young cat and once he's slimmed down you may have many more years to enjoy with him!! We adopted a 10 year old cat who weighed 17.5 pounds. The previous owner had just left a huge bowl of kibble out for her to eat whenever. She couldn't jump on anything and used her claws to climb on the bed or sofa. She's now going on 15 and is a slim, healthy 11.5 pounds. She jumps up and down and feels good enough to play. I hope others will see your story and give older cats a chance!
Lol my orange tabby is 6 and he's 17 lbs been working on his weight over a year he used to be 23 now only eats half wet can morning n half at night since he has urinary issues in the past so I put him strictly wet food.
We adopted an 11 year old female who was over 12 lbs, and we got her down to 10.5 which the vet says is perfect for her. It's pretty obvious her family free fed her dry but she was so ready to never eat dry again, that it was easy to switch her to an all-wet diet (bc she just won't touch any dry food!).
Poor kitty😥, can't understand why owners would do that to their pet (letting them get so heavy)..thankyou for getting her to a nice healthy weight, and giving her a loving home
@@hannaedwards4723 (She must've been sick of it), poor thing😥
Oh well done for taking on a 10 year old, and sensibly feeding him so he could lose those kgs. Gingers are so wonderful, aren’t they? My rescue Roger lived to 17. The most adorable affectionate, funny, naughty talker. He’s buried in the garden and I talk to him every day. Oh how I miss my dearest boy. R.I.P. Rog
Swimming will be good for him to lose weight without hurting his joints so maybe set up an outdoor kiddie pool and that will prepare him for the water kayaking. He is the perfect 5th child for you and your adorable family. I'm so glad you found each other!
I saw him get a groom on Girl with the Dogs. He was not a fan of the water, but maybe with time. For some reason pools and natural water sources are always preferred to baths anyway 😅😂
@@mom.left.me.at.michaels9951 most people think cats hate water, but they just hate cold water.
if they know the water is kinda hot, they'll probably enjoy it.
That’s a great idea!
If you've ever seen a 'fluffier' kitty doing aquatic therapy it's pretty amazing. I've seen them walking on a dry treadmill and while being distracted in every way possible, the vet/PT slowly increase the depth of the water until the furrbaby is swimming. Most tolerate it well if they are introduced to the water slowly and the exercise brings some kind of reward.
It is very obvious that Axel is loved and enjoying his new home. I think the idea of kayaking is an Excellent idea!
Thanks so much for helping Axel! You guys are so lucky you found each other! His personality really shows!
Sumo is a chunk of love!
You have given this little furry angel the best life ever.
God bless you for you kindness and humanity.
I thought it was sweet the way she encouraged Axel not to " be ashamed " of his weight. It's easy to see how loved he is!
Truly! 💯 Agree!❤❤
Yes, exactly that! "We're just on a journey together" a lot of people and actual parents could learn a thing or two from this.
I do not think it is sweet to act morbidly obese is something to downplay.
People can think all they want about that in regards to humans, I mean it is still not good for them, but whatever..
In animals like this it is not healthy for an animal to be 43 pounds.
Love the cat as it is, but being that obese for a cat is not good, and its kinda bad to see people act like it is.
Fat acceptance for humans is whatever to me, i mean obviously it is not healthy at all, but for animals, it is nothing to be like, awww. its ok youre that heavy.. its not good at all for an animal, and it will suffer much worse.
@David_Downs They are working on his weight loss. No, it's not healthy. But, they are working on it. It's sweet that they are not treating him badly about the weight issue. For humans, that is an issue. Do you treat people different pending on their weight?
Insanity that people are putting their bs obesity body acceptance even onto cats. This is clearly not healthy just like a morbidly over or under weight human I agree @@David_Downs
Wow, he weighed about 400 pounds in human weight/pounds. Great job to all getting him healthier ❤
is this cuz he is fed too much food???
My cat must be 200 lbs then 😂 he's a big boy period but I do feed him a little too much...he did just have a vet visit so I'm not a totally bad pet person....I just give in to him too often.
I'm the same way with Sammy. But he likes the outdoors, so he gets his exercise. @@doyourworseneatme
@@2wheelmanyes by the previous owner
I'd say more like 600 lbs, if you figure an average human weighs 150, and an average cat weighs 10.
I had a cat that looked just like him...size and color...my best pet EVER! He was very friendly, smart, cuddly and talkative...RIP Kobe...May you continue to bless others in cat heaven!
My mother is a food pusher too. But elderly people who grew up during the aftermath of the depression by parents that went through it and went hungry don't ever want their loved ones to experience that including their beloved furry kids too. Thank you for giving this sweet man a loving home. I wish more people saw how wonderful it is to adopt adult cats and dogs from the shelter or rescues! They're amazing!
Thank you for adopting sweet, adorable Axel.
I hope Axel can make it to another five years. He's got such life in his eyes.
You are so right! He has kind, loving eyes!! ❤❤❤
@@FirstLast-hs4gwdid you not watch the part where hes already lost weight and is continuing to do so/ is getting more activity than ever?
@@FirstLast-hs4gw bro watched the first 5 seconds of the video and posted a big rant without context
He’s beautiful! Thank you for giving him a chance
Good luck with the weight loss. Sweet kitty, he deserves to live and be active.❤
Glad Axel wasn't fearful and anxious about his owner. He was raised very well. I mean, most other cats would be hiding, hissing, not taking new environments and stressing out over strangers. For a big boy, he doesn't seem to be lazy. He is up to walking and jumping. I'm glad his owner's family made the effort to call someone to take him.
What a sweet boy. He's certainly found the right home. Thank you for also acknowledging his previous owners. I'm sure they are happy for him.
I sure hope they see this video and see he went to a kind, loving family with as much love as the original owner gave him!
Me? I'd be grumpy if they held food from me in any way! So, a great attitude is even better for all of them! And, his running away is adorable! ❤❤
Awwww what a sweet boy! So glad he found another loving family equipped to take care of him and love him.
Thank you for adopting him and addressing his health issues!!
Thank you for saving this fluff furbaby.
He's so chonky and cute!!!!!
Keep up the great work!!!!!
Weight Loss isn't easy but little by little you will get there Axel!!!
He was so loved, it shows so clearly. If the previous owner went into hospital and perhaps nursing home after, they may have been unable to get him to vet, unable to exercise him. Thank you for seeing the love, and not looking to blame. A healthy happy Axel is the best memorial his previous owner could have! And the best gift your children could have, too :-).
Thank you for caring ❤
He's gorgeous! I have a big cat. Took 4 years to get him down to a healthy weight. He has an eating disorder... probably from trauma. He was a rescue. Glad Axel found a forever home and getting healthy.
Could you please tell me what you did? I have a female cat that's getting fat, she begs for food all day but I don't give in, I don't leave dry food out all day either, she's a rescue cat that was abused by a previous owner, she also has pica, I don't like her putting on weight, obviously I'm doing something wrong. She's a very picky eater and very shy around food. Thanks.
@@justelleslife507try to discuss that with your vet, and try to harness train her and take her on walks if that’s possible for you and her.
Awww soft kitty, warm kitty little ball of fur… happy kitty sleepy kitty purr purr purr… what a handsome boy!
💙💙💙
Oooh, someone quoting Sheldon!!!😆😆😆
LOVE THAT SONG! Thank you! You made me laugh!! ❤❤ laugh😅😅❤❤
In Axel's case, it's BIG ol' ball of fur! He's such a sweetie though. I hope he can continue getting healther and shedding that weight.
@@brianjl7477 True! He'll feel better! It won't be so hard to walk downstairs!!
What a good boy. Thank you!!
Awww, what a handsome boy, thank you so much for not only looking after this bundle of cuteness, but having him as apart of the family, Axel is such a sweetie.
Aw this chonkster has the kindest face and a sweet demeanor. He’s so lucky to be adopted into your family!
I hope this kitty keeps losing the weight. He's so good natured. Thank you for giving him a good home :)
Launching himself like a potato. Loved it. A mom of 4 and now Axel. How lovely. He's got a wonderful life ahead. Hope to see you and Axel again..
Isn’t he the sweetest cat!! You are just the family he needs - thank you for adopting him ❤️
This is why two cats are so much better than one. My cats keep svelte chasing each other in play. If an owner is elderly or not as mobile and can’t provide the physical play needed, another cat will ❤. So glad he has a loving home, his poor previous owner.
Agreed! I hope they pulled through and sees this video! I wish them all the best!
cats can also bond with the other pet like dogs.
but due to their different size and behavior, it's not easy for the cats to show the love to the dog like grooming or play fight.
unless the dog understand the cats, the dog must be having a lot of stress handling the cat.
so many people recommend to adopt at least two cats, and we know the reason.
You can see at 4:05 there is a dog, and at 1:58 another cat - whether a permanent resident or a foster, hard to say, but since she works with rescue there will be friends passing through for Axel to play with. This sweet cat really hit it lucky finding his new family.
@@chezmoi42 I was discussing its weight from its prior home.
When that lovely lady said 'don't be ashamed' when he wouldn't get on the scales 😂 I feel you buddy! Great job to them for loving him so well 💖😽
100 Agreed! ❤❤ 💯 👍 ❤❤!!
I saw him on Girl with the dogs. He lost weight. Great owner. Thank you for taking care of Axel.
What a beautiful cat. Thank you for rescuing and taking care of him.
Gosh this lovable chonker is so sweet and cute!! Thank you for adopting him and helping him get to a healthier weight.🥰
Yeah I’m a dog person myself & I’ve two lil dogs but I must admit that Axel is beyond cute lmfao. I think him bring like a sumo wrestler makes him look like super/extra CUTE lol 🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯
Great story told by the most perfect & well spoken rescuer/owner.🥰. I wish them all just happy, successful days ahead in this weight loss journey. Sincerely asking/hoping for updates as his story continues on 💘🙏
Me too! Lots of updates!!
And...he needs to have his own RUclips channel! I'd watch every day!!❤❤ 📺 Every day! 📅!!
There's actually a video on what bathing him looks like on the Girl with the Dogs channel. He is a lot spicier when he doesn't know what's going on.
My cat lived to be 20. 7 years old is young for a cat. God bless you for making her healthy. It looks like you're going to be rewarded tenfold.
Sometimes elderly owners forget that they previously fed their kitty, and the kitty ends up getting extra food. That may have been what happened with Axel, he was loved.
Thank you for helping and adopting him, I bet he'll make an excellent adventure cat, accompanying you on all your journeys! ❤❤
Agreed, its very common for people who have compromised short term memory issues to over feed their pets.
Our aunt always overfed her Llasa, esp after she started to develop dementia. After she went into the home; we got Biscuit. There were two other dogs in our house, so no more Milk Bones lying around. :)
The owner was probably free-feeding with dry food too since that takes the least work.
First of all... Thank you for not badmouthing his precious owners. And a giant thank you for all you are doing for him! That seven pounds so far has to make a huge difference on his heart, and energy level. He is a beautiful boy in a loving home. ❤
What a sweet kitty. I am glad he is on gradual weight loss and monitored well. He adapted so fast to his new environment. One of my cats was like that. She grew up around a lot of animals and was almost two when I got her. I think she enjoyed the peace and quiet of being a single pet. We bonded immediately. I did not need to keep her in a smaller room for a few days to let her gradually adopt to her new surroundings. I had her for 13 years and miss her so much.
Thank you for taking good care of this big bundle of love! ❤
He looks like a real life plushie. Don't worry about costs set up gofund for him. I and others will definitely donate.
Wishing this amazing boy a quick recovery to take the strain of his limbs and heart. He's magnificent 🩵🙏🏻
Hey sweet boy! Thanks so much for taking care & loving him 🥰
Such a sweet cat. Glad he's found a perfect home.
He’s worth everything that you’re investing in him - thank you so much for all your time, effort and love. I have a friend who’s a ‘chunky monkey’, but not to Axel’s extent, and he’s a very loving puss. May you spend many happy years together.
AWW, what a sweet boy 🐈🥰 It's sad that he was so overweight, but he's making progress and enjoying his new family. Hopefully he'll get down to a normal size and be even healthier/happier.
What a gorgeous boy. Bless you for helping this boy.
God bless you for loving and taking care of him.
He is such a lovely one ❤❤
What a GREAT CAT! Thank you so much fostering and ESPECIALLY FOR ADOPTING HIM!! He’ll slim down with all your love and wonderful care! 🐈❣️🐈
Thank you for taking care of Axel and then adopting him. He is a sweetiepie. 😻
Such a great Mom, with a beautiful, loving attitude! Lucky Axel!❤
He’s incredible and so are you for adopting him and giving him a wonderful loving life ❤
It is so nice to see you not be rude about the previous owners; Often, obesity is not because of cruelty on the owner's part. While it is not the best situation, at least he has very few medical issues! I wonder how he would do with swimming-based exercises, considering it would be much easier on this arthritic joints...there is a possibility you all may have tried that already though.
GirlWithTheDogs groomed him in her new video. He did _NOT_ get along with the water.
Obesity in pets is the opposite of abuse. They love the pets TOO much and give in to the sad eyed begging for food and treats.
Thank you for adopting him! He's already looking so much healthier.
He's BEAUTIFULL!!!😂he is a gigantic peach of love!!!❤
WOW! The way you use your words to describe him and his journey that you're a kind hearted soul. I love how you carefully describe the entire situation & are cognizant of the requirements for him to survive. This cat is really lucky to have you. Much love to you & your family! ❤
Wow - the expense! What a wonderful person to give so much to this poor cat. He's living the good life now!
I love that his new mom adopted him and now he is a part of a big, loving happy family. I coukd not wish for a happier ending.
Came here from Girl with the Dogs. My heart is with you Biggie small!
