Thank you for the testing. The test proves my assumption: it is the device which controls the charging power instead of the charger itself. The charger make sure it can output as much power as it can, but the device deside how much power to use.
That's not how it works. The charger doesn't throttle. The charger can only provide what the device asks for. So as long as the charger can provide enough power, you're good. This means a 65W charger can provide up to 65W of power. A tablet that asks for 30W will only pull 30W. All that means is the charger isn't stressing out (only using 50% of it's "strength"). This also means you should NOT use a 30W charger on a 65W device! The device will pull as much as it can, but the charger won't be able to handle it. The charger will overstress and burn out. Most GOOD chargers will "burn out" a fuse or trip a safety (like a fuse that will reset after it cools off). If you draw too much power you won't start a fire, but your device won't charge or operate either. With the advancements in USB charging specifically, there's a lot of communication between the charger and device today. This is also why USB charging can provide multiple voltage levels (5v, 9v, 15v, 20v). Before USB (example: barrel plugs), there isn't all these smart stuff. You absolutely need a power supply to provide the EXACT voltage the device needs, but the current (in milli-amps - mA or amps - A) needs to be the same or higher than what the device asks for. Oh, and power (in watts) is Voltage multiplied by Current (in amps). Power (in W) = Voltage (in V) x Current (in A). Watts, Volts, and Amps are measurements (example, like in meters, feet, liters, gallons, etc). They are to measure Power (Watts), Voltage (Volts), and Current (Amps).

Thank you so much for these comparisons! So it turns out that GaN is barely any more efficient than Silicon... I read that it wastes twice less power to heat, I guess all of this was a lie... It's main advantage is just being smaller.
So it would be ok to use a 65W power brick to charge a Chromebook when the original charger that came with it was only 45W? My original charger was damaged
Wow, this is really interesting!! Now I can use my uncle's 120watt charger on my other phone and not worry about it!! :)👍✨ Really good in-depth charger test :)👍✨
@ it probably has more than one port. IE, it might support one 100w plus a 20w at the same time but can't go over 100w even if it's only one device. Though tbh I'd only heard of USB going to 65w so it's possible the limit has gone up to 100w out of my awareness and then above that out of both our awarenesses!
Technically, high power PD chargers provide 5v by default. If a device asks (negotiates) for a higher voltage (say 9v or 15v all the way up to 20v), the charger will supply just that voltage. As for the current, the device will pull whatever it needs so no need to worry if your charger supports high amperage (you can even use a 1000A charger provided that the voltage output is the same as what your device needs). I have the Nano II 65w charger and I use it to charge my laptop, my phone, my galaxy buds and my pocket wifi. So you'll be safe to use that charger with whatever USB-C device you have

That being said, since the device throttles the Power at 30 watts max a 66 watt charger seems to be a waste of money. A good 30 watt charger is all you need if you’re just charging your iPhone. Am I right?
Future proof, as more laptops support PD charging. One stone two birds, why not?
This is informative. How about the other way around. Is it also safe to use adaptor with lower wattage than what the device’s demand? Let say 25watts charger to be used to laptop that requires 65watts input.
Yes, it is also safe the other way around. The low power charger will just work at full maximum allowed capacity
Hi, do you have any graph for entire charging comparing all these power bricks? Thanks.
No, I don't have the charging graph.
Im skeptical with Ugreen because its too overhyped but it heats up alot!! Iv been using this Anker NAno 6 months now and its so amazing, less heat or no heat at all…. Aukey is okey too…

hello sir
What is the name of the device you use to check and test the charger and where can I find it?
It is kill-a-watt power meter, link here amzn.to/3Ao9kGm (amazon affiliate link)

Sweet, thanks!
Will a 65W charger be okay to charge my laptop that came with a 45W charger?
Yes it is ok
By the way don't try this with the PS4 controller. The PS4 controller has been known to have its battery get damaged if you try to charge it with higher than what it's rated for. Modern smartphones are fine because they regulate the power.
Good to know, thanks. Perhaps the controller confirm update can fix that?
Is it okay to charge iPhone 8 plus using Huawei 65watts charger? Thanks

New sub here! Just wondering if the nano 2 65w charger will be good on my iphone 13 mini? Or should i purchase the 30w instead?
Yes, 65W is fine for iPhones. And you can charge MacBooks too.
@@ToolsElectroDIY thanks for the fast response. Now i inderstand that no matter high wattage of your charger. It will depend on the unit itself if how much watts it will be needed to charge a specific iphone or battery.

This is a great information and very nice content very straightforward, I appreciate all the work you put in this video? Did you by any chance check if the phone gets hot over time of charging since you charge it with max input? It would be a great to show us next time with a temperature gauge what’s the actual temperature! 👍🏼
Good idea. I recently got a thermal imaging camera, you might be interested in this test ruclips.net/video/PwRunhVvIvQ/видео.html
