I kinda wish they added a cable with the box. It’s easy for folks to reuse old wires not rated for 5A/eMark and might be surprised to get a lower max wattage (usually 60W) from USB-C instead of 100W.
Just bought this - delivered yesterday. So far so good… although I am noticing some momentary power drop outs as it negotiates power level with the devices (I suppose that’s how the dynamic allocation works). I agree about the universal plug request. Actually I’d like Anker to produce a high power GaN charger in the ‘standalone power block’ format (with a figure-of-eight input socket). I already have short power cables in each of the global standards for travel.
Yes - as you add or remove plugged in devices, there is a second where it renegotiates power with the connected devices. Some chargers don’t and will continue to charge slower unless the remaining device is disconnected then reconnected! Agree about a C8 input. Anker previewed their 240W 749 charger at their event. In the photo you can see any prongs - so I’m hoping it has a C8 input! Thanks for watching! ✌🏻
I noticed even when there is only a cable connected to any port even when there is no device connected it will effect the main Port ... is this the same case with you ??
A clear, concise and informative review about the product. This is the first video I’ve seen from your RUclips channel and have now subscribed, thanks. Looking forward to seeing more of your content 👍🏼
Do you get electrical noise (like a tingling feeling on the metal body) through the Mac body in the UK using this charger? I usually get this when using non-Apple chargers
I know what you mean! I've experienced this in the past with some chargers. But no - not here. The UK version of the 737 is properly grounded as far as I can tell. No tingling feeling when charging using MagSafe or USB-C. Great question! Thanks for watching Izaak! ✌🏻
This isn’t grounded, since the ground pin on the plug is plastic. The tingling you get is caused by a small capacitor connecting the output through to mains voltage - which effectively earths any radio frequency interference, but does feed forward a small mains current. It’s harmless.
@@JCKRGB I contacted Anker and they said "The third pin of the 737 GaNPrime Chargers is made of semi-insulating plastic, which is designed to prevent electric shock when unplugged". So it may not be properly grounded, but if it's avoiding that tingling feeling, that's what's important to me. (The only time I've ever noticed something not being grounded was using my laptop in Italy with an adaptor for the two-pin socket, which is my experience of the tingling feeling)
The fact the two USB-C ports can manage up to 100w on either port is pretty great. Many competitors with higher total wattages e.g Ugreen cap their chargers at 65w on each port for example which means if you NEED 30w on one and 70w on another it's not possible despite the Ugreen charger having a higher total wattage as you'll see 30w on one and 65w on the other. In theory the Anker should do the trick.
i really don't understand why they don't do the internationnal adapters. So simple for them and a total deal breaker for me. Hyper Juice did that 2 years ago...
hi, can i ask you a question? i have this 737 120w charger paired with ankers 140w cable , and trying to charge my Anker 737 140W GaNPrime Power Bank through the 100w usb c port but the maximum power i take is 87 watts and not 100w.. 87 watts from the start to the end of the charging..do you know why is this happening? is yours reaching 100w charging?? ty
Nice video! I like the way Apple handles the adapter thingy for international travelling but unfortunately they don't offer 100W+ chargers with multiple ports. And that's why I'm sold on the Anker cause it's simply very convenient to have just one when travelling/commuting.
One thing I noticed about the 737 is that when all three ports are Being used, the top port gets 96 watts, but the bottom two ports get only 12 watts each. In addition, there is no dynamic power distribution available, meaning the power output is fixed. On the 735 this is understandable, on the 737 it's completely unacceptable. Even the Anker 736, the 100W predecessor to the 737 didn't have this issue. All three ports combined still support 45W + 30W + 18W power output, meaning it can fast charge three devices at once instead of only two devices or 1 fast and 2 slow with the 737. So bad
hi JCKRGB, when you charge 737 powerbank 24K with 737 charger, does 737 charger become very hot after 1 hour charging? And does 737 charger produce a small sound of buzz?
Well I have two 120w charger from anker. I noticed that my one of my usb-c slot loses grip of all my USB c cables on both of them. Most of my usb-c cables are Anker PowerLine III Flow, usb c 100W. So most of the time I can only use on slot op the charger
Not a silly question! You can use it to charge your 14” MacBook Pro just fine, I’ve never had any issues using Anker chargers with my Apple tech. Thanks for watching Sid! ✌🏻
Hello Jack, great review as always. I was checking Anker's website now and saw these three models : - Anker 737, Anker Prime 100W GaN Wall charger, Anker Prime Charger. Correct me if I'm wrong. The 737 is the most powerful of the batch with 120W total output right? As for the other two models honestly I don't get the difference. Their features are nearly identical. I was thinking to buy the 737 charger with the Anker Prime 27,650 mAh power bank. What do you think? Any better suggestion? Thank you Jack
It might still be rolling out across Europe. I'm not sure of any exact dates in all countries but it looks like it's available on Amazon in Germany for example! The UK & US links in the description might redirect you to a local EU version for you. But if not, try looking on Anker's Amazon Store page (sometimes new products don't show up in search but can be found directly on a brand's store page - that's how I found it on the German store!). Thanks for watching Devin! ✌🏻
There is no upgrade going from a 65w charger to a 120w charger. Most laptops do not take advantage of more than 45 or 65 w charging and the weight of the charger is higher compared to the Nano 45w for instance. The Nano 45w is the charger I have upgraded to, from the Lenovo charger because of the compact size and light weight. So, basically, I use the Anker Nano charger to charge my Thinkpad X1 Nano laptop. Also works really nice with the Thinkpad T14 Gen 3.
Yes - you can use either C port here for your phone or laptop, your devices will draw the power that they need and the charger will share up to 120W across both the C ports. Thanks for watching mate! ✌🏻
Awesome video, exactly the kind of tests and numbers I was looking for! Compared the Anker 737, 747, Apple's 140W, and the number of Apple bricks I already own (Also have Apple's international plug set). Figured the 737 would be the most practical since it's peak output is 100W, just like with the 747 and in a smaller form factor.
I just ordered this, just because the Apple power adapter is very unbalanced and doesn't make proper contact on some EU sockets(the ones that are made to be compatible with multiple plug types) when it tilts.
While obviously the charge is really good...not a fan of its size, for what it is capable of its small....but small only when you grade it on bias lol I got the anker 65w with two c, a and two ac plugins. Does everything I need and does it fast enough to be happy. Just not in the market for that type of charger....if I had certain devices then maybe....butt to much $$ and I wouldnt get the use out of it for that price. Still, a great charger though.
Idk on their claims on IQ4.0 given that anker said it was featured on all their ganprime lineup (the 733 does not support it nor other chargers. Just hoping they can be more transparent when saying a product has X feature like that and is true
Credible review, Jack. (Blue t-shirt works better than white, IMO.) Would not buy a product that didn’t have a “very satisfying sticker”😁. Favorite charging meter makes another cameo appearance. NISI photo filters for iPhone - 3 kits, new product. 2. Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 2 portable printer. Cheers!
Thanks for the specs and testing on the ports collectively and separately. It’s harder to find reviews on chargers that actually look at how the power is distributed with different connection scenarios. The USB A + USB C (port 2) simultaneous charge breakdown for instance was very helpful. As well as the fast charge time to 50% vs 100% full charge was nice.
Thanks so much! I tried to test it out as much as I could with the devices I have, just to give some idea of how it actually performs. Glad it was useful to you, thanks for watching! ✌🏻
with these dimensions, it's baffling that they decided to put the plug where they did and not make it perpendicular so the USB ports faced down. a 200g wall wart sticking more than 3 inches out from the wall is going to get ripped out when someone pushes back from the table at a coffee shop and wings this thing with the leg of their chair. or imagine trying to keep this thing attached plugged into a loose outlet at an airport or something. you'd be hovering over it non-stop if only to make sure some traveler doesn't clip it with their roller bag or something as they hurry to catch a flight. would've been easier for them just to use C8 power cords. and it would've spared you the wall wart that makes fitting it behind a couch or near any furniture all but impossible. *and* buying international C8 power cords would be trivial, like $2-5 max at almost any old store.

The Anker 737 has a battery voltage of 21.6V in six cells in series, meaning there is a decent amount of power lost charging the 737. This is normal
@@TheStopwatchGod thank you
They need to make a travel version of this with interchangeable plugs. It wouldn't even be that hard.

hi JCKRGB, when you charge 737 powerbank 24K with 737 charger, does 737 charger become very hot after 1 hour charging? And does 737 charger produce a small sound of buzz?
