Hey guys, John here with RealTruck.com. Today I want to show you how to install the Spyder Projector headlight on this 2012 Ram 1500.
You can see here that our Spyder Projector headlights come with everything we need to get them installed into the truck and you can see they have LEDs. They also have CCFL rings around the headlights and comes with all the wiring that you need to hook it up. Also, your plug, just plug-in connectors, and your CCFL inverter that's going to wire this up so that way your CCFL halos will work properly. So, let's get these in the truck.
All right guys, we're ready to start pulling our factory OE headlights out of the truck. First thing we're going to do is we're going to take this 10 millimeter bolt out here and then way down inside here, at the bottom, there's another one that we're going to be taking that one out as well.
Then we'll have to just unplug our factory headlight from the harness and do our turn signal parking light, and remove our light from the truck. So, we've got our headlight laid out here on the bench where we can get access to the wiring and get everything hooked up, ready to go back in the truck. So, the first thing that we're going to do here is we're going to take our CCFL inverter and we're going to plug it into these wires coming out of the bottom of the housing. These wires actually go to our CCFL halos on the lights so we want to wire those up here real quick. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100!

great video but how would someone adjust the lights after the spyder lights are in place? I see no way to get to the adjusters.
I see so many people complain how there are too many wires, it should be plug & play, this guy didn't do this right, that guy did this wrong and on & on & on & on!!! Stop with the comments, get "unlazy" & learn something!!! I never see any comment with some one ripping a guy up and down and then giving a link to thier "perfect" how to video!!!
Installed a pair a couple of nights ago. I tried the method with no grill removal, I found it it hard to put the headlight assembly back in with grill in place, more so since one has to keep removing and installing headlights to make horizontal and vertical beam adjustments. I also found the lower bolt has some sort of height adjustable bolt that needs to be held in place when tightening down the bolt else it will raise the height in that corner. Still actually find the left beam pointing too far to the left, the adjustment screw seems to be loose hopefully it didnt come undone or been disconnected from factory since it didnt have much resistance from the get go. All in all pretty pleased with the intensity of the CCFL halo output, reminds me of my old skool BMW e36 that I retrofitted ccfl's to back just after the millennium - 2002.

I would just like to thank you for this video on installing the Spyder projection headlights ! the instructions that came with the lights are about useless and they mention nothing about splicing the LED and Halo wires to the turn signal wire harness.

Great video. Made the install go really well. I found that my stock High Beam bulb didn't fit the twist lock on the new headlight box. You didn't seem to have any trouble in the video. Any thoughts?

Thank you this video was very informative ! Best video i've found on RUclips so far.! I just acquired my Pair of Spyder LED/CCFL Halos w Blue HIDs. So i have Hooked up my Blue HID's and High Beams etc. But i couldn't figure out how too Wire up the LED's / CCFL Halos. After this video i believe i've found out. That i just need too Quick Crimp Positives too Negatives in the Parking Bulb. Thanks a bunch man!

I have the same headlights but I don’t think I have a converter do I need one?
On my 1995 GMC Sierra k1500 the headlights have lights under and on the side of them do you sell those?
Do the new spyder headlights render the white hook behind the fender useless?(the one that hooks the factory light in)
How can I get an even bright light pattern from these? I have tried halogens, both 2 chip and 4 sided 4 chip led as well as 2 sets of 55w hids now and the light pattern is not even or bright compared to my other projector housings. I cannot find a single review on these that show the light output and pattern. other than actual low beam light output these have been great. CCFLs are nice and they are sealed up from the elements nice.
Hey there! Many aftermarket LED bulbs are able to be clocked for better alignment of diode's output to the projector unit which helps with dead spots and shadows. If this hasn't been done already it's worth trying to optimize the performance of the light/bulb combo. Hope that helps!
Ive always ran into an issue with aftermarket headlights. The mounting is hardly ever right.
Do the Spyder Halo head lamps come with bulbs for dims and brights or must the bulbs be taken from the original lamps
Robby Hill they come with High/Low Beam bulbs. The Parking/Turn Signal bulbs are from your factory OE light. As far as the wiring, is it the same process for a 2012 Silverado? I know I have to take the grille off to get the lights off but, is everything else this simple or are there more steps for a Chevy?
Oh and second question, can I get the heat gun and shrink wrap from you or do I have to get it somewhere else?
Leo Gullage it's a little different connection wise, but what you wire to is pretty much the same. I have red and black wires coming out of the bottom of the headlights for the halo rings and there is no connectors on the ends, how would these works with the ccfl inverter?

if any of the LEDs fail, are they replaceable? can they be upgraded to brighter output?
It's possible to replace them but it's a highly involved process and isn't something people normally do.
how did you get the headlight out without removing the entire Grill. on my 2011 I've had to take the grill off to get to the screw hiding the light down i know it's the same set up as my 2016
because he had a 2 foot flexible extension I'm sure. There's no other way. probably why they didn't show it.

j0hnnyw987 not sure what wire you are referring to. You shouldn't be doing anything with the turn signal wires. The led and Halo wires go to the parking light + hot wire. Just installed the same headlights on our 2011 dodge 1500. All the lights work except for the low beam any ideas, help?
+Michael Schmidt low beam on just one side or both? On one side it could be a bulb or bad connection. Both it is probably a fuse.
I got these same headlights and mine didnt include the ccfl and the headlights dont have the slots for the ccfl and my halos are dim
Jorge I am not sure what you mean by they didn't include the CCFL and don't have slots for them. These lights come with 2 different types of Halos. 1 is the CCFL which means cold cathode fluorescent lamp and the other is the LED which is a light emitting diode. I actually prefer the LEDs over the CCFL as they tend to be brighter. If you have LEDS and they are dim, they get brighter as they warm up, if not check to make sure you have a good ground.
Is the installation for spyder headlights the same/similar as in this video for a 2010 Ram 1500?
Cardinals425 the removal and installation process may be a bit different because of body styling, however, the wiring should be pretty much the same. The main thing is to find your parking light wire to hook up your LED's and/or Halos. You didn't mention anything about the blinker fluid. Where does that go?
hi, I've ordered a set of ccfl with halos. when I received them, it didn't include the ccfl inverter. I have a total of six wires four on the bottom and two on top. the four on the bottom are red and white, and the top two are red and black. I'm not sure what to do. I've watch the videos from RUclips and mine are so different from the video above. Am I missing something? I'm at a stand still. also, the top two I'm guessing are for the inverter but they don't have plugs on them like the one in the video. what should I do? BTW I ordered them from ebay. should I just return them?
Derick Kimbrough you will need the inverter if they are CCFL. It is not required for LED styles. Sometimes it can be confusing as to which is which. I would recommend double checking the part number on the lights to find out for sure. The CCFL lights will have the plugs like in the video, but the LED lights will not. Kind of like you are describing yours as. If they do in fact turn out to be CCFL you can either go to Spyder Automotive and order the inverters or as you said return them to the eBay seller. Derick Kimbrough that is really kind of odd on the wire colors. Usually they are all red and black and white and black. So you are on the right track. Check and see which are the ground and which are the positive. It is typically the red and white wires that are positive and all the black are negative (ground). Yours however is baffling. once you get it figured out yes you can run all the positive feed wires to the parking light positive feed and the grounds I usually install an eyelet on the wire and use a self tapping screw and run it into the headlight bucket metal which is the area where the headlight sits and attaches to. If you need help feel free to call.

Ok guys. You should have a set of wires for the halos Positive and Ground and a set for the LED's Positive and Ground. Hook all the Black ones together and attach to a grounding location on the vehicle behind the headlight. I usually use a self tapping screw and a wire eyelet. Then hook the Red ones to the White ones and hook those into the Positive wire on the factory parking light harness, I usually solder this one, plug in your Headlight Harness and Boom! all done.
so if it doesn't come with a inverter they're not CCFL?
Ivan De Leon more or less. If there are two small wires coming out with plugs on them, but you do not have an inverter, then someone forgot to put it in the box. The LED style don't have plugs on the wire ends because they are typically wired into your parking or Daytime Driving Lights. RP wireless headlights huh? Now that would be interesting. I think they better wait on that for awhile. Right now they can't seem to get LED ones to go yet. Products like these awesome Spyders are cool with the LED accents, but wouldn't LED headlights themselves be cool? Are these lights just for show or are the functional? I installed some aftermarket head lights on my 02 ram but removed them because they weren't bright enough. The factory lights were better at night.

That depends on what products you are looking for. Most people like the dark tinted look which comprises the brightness of the lights. If you are looking for bright you want to go with a clear lens with chrome plating preferably to increase the overall brightness. what an ugly mess of wires... I had bought a pair and feel like they could have been designed much better instead b of that ugly primative and inconvenient setup
i rather just pay someone to install them plus i dont have the tools
Angel Mar this video is very informative. Im sure you can. I just changed the alternator on my car and a video on youtube helped me do it. save me some money from having someone else do it.
