Hi guys, John here with realtruck.com. Today I'm going to show you how to install the Spyder projection headlights on a 2004 new body style F-150. Now that we've got these lights out of the box, get a good look at them, you can see they come with everything you need to install these pretty much. So the first order of business to get these into this truck, is to get these factory ones out. So let's get those out of there.
Just take a big, long pry bar or screwdriver and get down there and get right up against the back of the light, and you can pop that clip out of there. It's basically this clip right here is the one that we're looking at. It just goes up into the body of the vehicle there. Unplugging the wires from lights, which we'll do right now. Now this turn signal one, we're just going to pull it out because we need to reinstall this whole piece into our new light, so we'll just leave it together. And there you have it. That's how easy it is to get the old ones out. So, we'll get the one out on the other side and then we'll start getting these new ones in.
The first thing we want to do is to plug these in. Now, this is really a simple, simple deal here. They just plug right into these connectors. So it's just a matter of snapping those in. Heat shrink wrap, and what we're going to do with that is slide it up over the connectors. Then you can either use a heat gun or a lighter, something along that lines to shrink that. What it does, it's just going to hold these connectors together so they don't inadvertently pull apart. First, we're going to attach these two together. You guys can probably hear in the background the thunder going on. This is a great rainy day, thunderstorm kind of project when you can't be outside on the lake fishing or something like that. Here we are in the nice dry garage making our truck look cool.
The next thing is to wire these to our inverter, which is pretty simple. Just keep with the colors. I know there's no white on this inverter, but the white goes to the red, the black to the black. So, we're going to wire that up now. Peel this backing off of our double-sided foam sticky tape and attach this right here to the back of the light. Now, something you guys might want to do before you go attaching this thing someplace is to fit it in the truck to make sure that it's still going to fit, the light's going to go in when you attach it. We've got our wiring all done, so the next thing we want to do is to take this over and test it to make sure everything turns on like it's supposed to. Bulb out of our old headlight and we're going to put it in here.
Now that we've got our meter set and turned on, we know that this one is the parking light on this particular truck. We just have to figure out which one of the two wires here is our positive and negative wire. On this one it should be this brownish colored wire, but we're going to double check that to make sure. And we have 12 volts on that so that is correct. That is our positive wire, so we know which wires to wire into our light assembly. Grab our meter and we have to find on our truck which wire actually works our parking light because that's where we're going to wire our inverter into the parking light. So that way when we turn on our parking lights, then our halos and our LED's will light up. Put our wire in here.
We've got this light all back in the truck, all bolted down, so the next thing is to get the one into the other side. We'll get that done and then we'll take a look at what this thing looks like with these new headlights in here. I can tell you guys already just by looking at this one, this truck looks way better. Let's get that side done so we can see the whole effect. We've got both sides of our lights in, so the only thing left to do now is to close this hood up and turn these one and take a look at what this truck looks like with these new headlights in it. Okay guys, that's how easy it is to install the Spyder projector headlights into your truck. So there's only one thing left to do at this point and that's take this out, show it off around town. So until next time, happy motoring. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100! Хобби
thx for the help
Too much work. How about plug and play like most aftermarket assemblies? Definitely will be the first person NOT buying these. Glad I watched this so I didn't make a mistake buying them.
while installing my spyder headlights this weekend I used your video to guide me. Thanks for the assistance. Any chance you know where you got that grille insert? That would be a pretty cool addition to my truck.
It is the ford f150 DUX automotive grille insert. We do not carry it on our site but I did find it on this site. www.grounddynamics.com/product-p/fd300.htm
Where did you get the grill?
I don't have that blue connector you used to splice or connect your blacks to black (inverter) wire and your whites to the red
(inverter) wires. Was my light kit suppose to include that?
Hi Shaun! Yes those connectors should be in your kit. If you not able to find them in the kit, they are called scotch locks that you can purchase at your local automotive store. You can also give use a call at 877-216-5446 and we can help you out. Thank you!
How to wire for both lights to come on for high beam?
Inverter for what ? Only thing I added when installed heavy duty flash slow down blinking
Where can i buy a front grill like the one on the truck
Quick question for ya. I recently purchased a set of ccfl halos and I see you are using scotch locks. Do you think it would work as well with male and female tabs? I would like an input before I decide to install and mess something up. Thanks for your help!!
OSOKninjagang it would yes. You would need to get the 3way type and I would suggest the heat shrink ones with the sealer in them. i would probably still wrap them with electrical tape to help keep water out as well. The best method is to solder them though. RealTruck.com I actually took the two whit wires twisted them together and put them in one end of a butt splice connector then attached the two wires on the opposite side and crimped the middle. Worked like a charm. I appreciate the help with the video. It helped a ton. 👍🏼 keep up the good work
OSOKninjagang thanks! Will do.
because on your website it says that the h1 are the low beam but they are not so I bought h1 hid and they did not fit one the projector so now I have to buy 9006 could you please fix it
Hi Juan, you are absolute right. This is an error on our website and we are fixing it as quickly as possible. Can you please write into our Customer Service with your order number so we can help correct this. Than you sir! www.realtruck.com/customer-service/contact/
Ive had these halo projectors for an 09 cobalt lt for a little over a month now.....ccfl halos work great, and so do the high beams, but the projector low beams already burnt out, any suggestions?
MLGMONGO it is because of the life of the bulb. Those bulbs create a lot of heat and since you use the low beams the most they have a tendency to burnout quicker. If you have any other questions about this or would like more info on this item or any of the other 500000 plus accessories we sell and would like to speak to a person directly feel free to contact our knowledgeable Customer Service folks at 877-216-5446
HID asap, I've burnt alot of those H1 bulbs before I learn the real issue.. they get hot to fast and burn out due to the headlight power consumption.
Is the technique for wiring the halos the same as for other cars or is there different methods
Every vehicle will be a little bit different. The process is much in the same. Spyder will give you a detailed instruction sheet.
Hi. I have the same style headlights. I installed them myself and I did everything that I saw in the video. The three LEDs light up fine but when it come to my halos and orange light strip it isn't anywhere near as bright as yours. Any suggestions on how I can make them brighter? As of right now you can hardly even notice they are lit up on a rainy day.
+Greg Rocha here are a couple thoughts that come to mind for us regarding your lights:
1- The lights installed are CCFL halos, which do appear brighter compared to the LED halos also offered by Spyder.
2- The video was shot indoors, and the lighting isn't particularly bright in there. How bright they appear to the naked eye will vary based on the ambient lighting
3- Do you have a good ground to your lighting, if you do not they may not be getting proper continuity.
+RealTruck.com i installed them step for step from this video. But my guess is that maybe the ground wire to the parking lights isn't very strong. Unfortunately they aren't Ccfl halos. I had led halos on my last truck as well and they were a significant amount brighter. I'm just wondering if I run a ground wire directly from my battery if that might help. But if their is any other way you can think to make them brighter please let me know
Do the electrical caps and those deals you were using your players on come with it? And does it matter if I ordered your product through Amazon?
+Brandon Baker Those are called Scotch-locks. The Spyder lights are not our product we only sell them. If you need warranty or are missing parts I would suggest the seller or Spyder directly. if you need help with or have questions about the installation I will sure do my best to help you though.
No it doesn't come with inverters or connectors, just the headlights..got my pair in the mail yesterday
do the ccfl halos come with the inverter 2006 ford F-150
These ones yes, but not all of them do.
what kind of grill insert is on this truck? I really like it but can't find it on the website.
***** It is the ford f150 DUX automotive grille insert. We do not carry it on our site but I did find it on this site. www.grounddynamics.com/product-p/fd300.htm
Show the beam pattern or cutoff!
How can we adjust it now when Installed it it was kinda low.
I have the exact same headlights and my led halos are not bright at all compared to these guys in the video i dont understand
+Salomon Bazarte double check your ground. If you have a weak ground connection they will not be as bright. I have had to in the past run a new ground directly to the negative(-) terminal on my battery to get a proper ground.
So does the package just come with the lights and you need to buy other stuff for the other lights?
Primary Line not sure what you mean by package. The lights come with everything you need to install them except for the solder and soldering gun. If you need help or have any other questions about this or any of the other 500000 plus accessories we sell feel free to contact our knowledgeable Customer Service folks at 877-216-5446
So I bought those and they only came with the lights is that all there is as expected?
Primary Line if you have the ones with the LED halos yes. If they are the CCFL Halos then you would need the invertor.
So which wire turned out to be the parking light wire? I don't have a meter and am planning on installing these lights. Thanks.
+AustinTexasBassing it is in fact the brown wire.
+RealTruck.com i got 2014 dodge ram i got Spyder how do you hook up led light and Halo eyes up I got 3 red wires two white wires and one black wire which one is the positive wires
I have same problem I have blue yellow and black on a 2014 f 150
I don’t want to guess and I’m trying to figure out which is parking light
Is the power inverter necessary
+Brandon Baker Yes it is so that the CCFL Halos work properly..
i have a set of projector lights on a 2004 dodge dakota and my signal light blinks fast like theres a bulb burnt but theres not. what could be the problem and also the high beam on it only gives out spots of light.
superwoofer95 What brand is the projector lights? If you have LED's that are blinking very then it is "Hyperflashing" This is caused by your vehicle thinking a light bulb is burnt out because the LEDs draw less power, this is corrected with a resistor that tricks the computer to think its a standard bulb. Let me know what brand and style of light and we can diagnose the issue from there. Thanks!
its not the LED's that are blinking really fast, its the signal light bulb. It's a Spyder Projector Headlight. here's a link of a picture of what they look like: www.spyderusa.com/spy/images/700/PRO-YD-DDAK97-CCFL-BK.jpg
Can you revert back to the stock lights without removing everything?
I realize it's kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to stream newly released series online?
@Anders Briar flixportal :)
@Grady Braylen thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) I really appreciate it!
@Anders Briar happy to help :)
so which one are the low beams the one with the projector
Hi Juan! Great question. Your normal driving lights would be the projectors. The projectors are great if you want to add HID bulbs. Thanks!
Looks really complicated. Do you know how to do the headlights on a w202 Mercedes?
+minzi2047 I have never done one myself, but I found this for you, hope it helps.
www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/electronics/56683-how-removing-headlights-w202.html
I have these on my 08 f150. They fog up and now one of the halos are out. Everything is wired properly. Junk
I had the same problem bur then i went to auto zone and got some of 3m's black super weatherstrip adhesive and applied it on the crease and between the housing and lense so i wouldnt have that problem anymore and works like a charm
michael doneghy seriously?
@@frantruck919worked good for me.
@@frantruck919 you cant even see that it is there if applied correctly!
You have headlights for tundra 2022 sr5 ?
We do, you can find them here, realtruck.com/c/lighting/headlights/v/toyota/tundra/2022/. Please make sure to put the correct body and bed size. :)
Same here, only came with headlights.
I just bought these Spyder halo headlights for my Ram.. where do I get the "inverter box" from
Stickpin Suicide did you ever find out what the inverter box was? I just got a set of these for my ram and am confused as hell, they don't include it with the lights
You need to check with Spyder about your lights. Spyder has 2 styles, CCFL and LED Crystal. Only the CCFL require an invertor. If you didn't find an invertor connected to your headlight assembly, the you have the LED Crystal style headlight.
where did u get that grill please reply!!!!!
+pascual,
The grille came from a company called ground dynamics. We do not sell their products but they do have a website you can look at the different products they have available.
easy yea right
Comes with everything you need...."PRETTY MUCH" HA...would have been nice if you at least told us where to get that inverter that it does NOT come with..or show us if there's a way to wire them without it
+Derrick Perez not sure if you received a set without it or what, but these for this truck came with the ballast, all the ones I have ever installed have came with the ballast.
+RealTruck.com nope I ordered a set and it only came with the headlights, no extra wires, ballast or inverter
+RealTruck.com ...and it was the exact same brand and box that you have
+Derrick Perez if you purchased them from us give us a call and we would be happy to help you. Customer Service 877-216-5446
Mine also came with just the headlights themself and nothing else. How did you end up installing them?
how much time do they ship to la
It should take about 3-4 days.
Are spyder good quality headlights?
We get pretty good feedback on Spyder headlights! If you check out specific lights from Spyder on our site, they have reviews from customers...
www.realtruck.com/spyder/
What kinda of grill inserts are those??
This is a one off grille that we had made locally in ND.
RealTruck.com got any for sale?
guys the reason your headlights dont come with inverter is cuz they aint ccfls. end of story. i had to swith mine to ccfls cuz the other ones were too week looking and dont come with inverter. very happy now with product make sure you check the item you're buying says ccfls
doe anyone one know if you can use HID kit with these projectors?
+Christian Torres yes you can here is the info you need Part # 264H13HID H13 9008 Single Beam HID with 6,000 Kelvin Bulb & Extra Slim 35 Watt Impact & Water Resistant Ballasts
+Christian Torres im not an expert on the HID thing you're talking about but when i bought these spyder lights there was a caution sticker saying (no HID bulb allowed)... so yeah i dunno
My headlight do not have anything to hook my halos up to
I Owen 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA ORDERED SPYDER HEADLIGHTS 5030313 RUclips SHOES F 150 FORD ??????
