Great to see pictures of Club Ponytail! My little band 'The Esquires' played there many times between 65 and 68. We always stayed at the corner of Bay and Zoll at Johnston's Motel. He had the rooms wired with speakers 'so you could call the front desk' anytime you wanted. Sometimes the girls from the Horton Bay General Store would come to dance and party. They had cool uniforms to work at the store, when we would go visit them during the day. They claimed they saw Hemingway's ghost down the lane to the lake. It was a great teen club, Harbor is still great! See you at NYNY!
Is it me or has anybody else noticed how many in the audience are wearing glasses?? There must be some bad water up there! LOL! Anyway love those Animals!!
no different today, as everyone wears contacts in the 2000s. very very few people wore contacts during the 1960s, especially not the adults. Contact popularity began in the late 50s and 60s. You probably see more blue eyes today, too.
Tickets four dollars five at the door.I kind of remember my older brother talking about the animals and the ponytail back in the day.I know he went there a lot and one night going there he wrecked our dad's 63 Chrysler 300. Thumbs up on your videos.
"House of the Rising Sun" at the beginning may be live. "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" may be live (what is heard here is neither the US single nor the version that was released everywhere else). Everything else heard on this video is from the studio version of their records. Also, I'm not sure what "When I Was Young" is doing here, since that's from at least a year later than the date shown here.
It was a teen club located in Harbor Springs, Michigan. It opened in 1962 and burned to the ground in 1969. It was where Northern Michigan teens went to dance and listen to bands. For example, I lived in Boyne City, about 25 miles from the venue. During the winter, it mostly contracted local regional bands, and those who could drive or find a ride would spend their evenings. During the years between 62 and 69, it contracted many nationally popular bands/singers. This video hi-lites the Animals who played there in 1966. The photos of the band at lunch and performing on the small patio stage were all taken on August 26, 1966. The film is not from that night. They performed outside on the patio. I doubt that more than 500 people could fit in the space. When it originally opened, many nationally acclaimed artists, such as the Beach Boys, Del Shannon, Bobby Vinton and the like played inside. It could never exist in today's world which requires stadium or arena sized venues.
Chas Chandler was the bassist of The Animals. He moved on into talent management and represented, among others, Jimi Hendrix, who he claimed to have "discovered". Hear Chandler's bass in the introduction to "We've Got to Get Out of This Place".

the voice ON house of the rising sun is NOT the original recording Iknow cos im a HUGE ERIC BURDEN FAN it could still be him BUT NOT NOT THE ORIGINAL RECORDING.the second song. "we gotta get out of this place." is definitely Eric.and" when i was young" is ERIC❤
Yes, Barry had taken over for John at his point. Within a year everybody would be gone except for Barry. I think Eric was missing so they grabbed Ray Philips of the Nashville Teens to cover for him at this gig.
It is the Animals on August 26, 1966 as the title states. Burdon and Chandler are originals. Jenkins became member of the reorganized 66 group. The other two were probably temporary members
Great selection of songs and pictures!
Great selection of songs by The Animals! Thank you.!

❤ linda canción con buen song😂
Good video! Thanks!
Hilton, Chas, Dave, Barry and maybe Ray Philips of the Nashville Teens. I wonder what's Eric's excuse for not showing is this time.
songs came from a Cd cut in the late 90's ---Dean on guitar-Dave Meros on bass-Anysley on drums -Martin on keyboard
the theme of the channel is photos of the local area, not the music. The music originated in the 60s.
I was born in 56 -I think I know@@AtwoodsHistory
@@AtwoodsHistory There is no mention of your channel "theme". People see Animals - they click.
