Fascinating how Skull and Bones did for Black Flag what Suicide Squad did for the Arkham games.
to be honest the writing was on the wall for arkham when they brought out arkham origins yeah they pulled it back with arkham knight but it ran really badly at least it did on pcv anyway
Massive strides backwards... it's absolutely remarkable how out of tune these creative leads have to be to push these horseshit games out as the final product and ask for $70+(game + battle passes, mtxs).....
Wow! Did skull and bones butcher characters and shit on an existing series? No? Then it’s not the same.
I can see where you're coming from with that. What would hit the nail on the head though is if the lore to this game is somehow tied in with Black Flag, I hope not..
@@bounceycake1 Literally two completely different franchise, worlds, characters, locations and mechanics. This game has nothing to do with assassins creed or black flag, it hasn’t done anything to ruin black flag or it’s characters like suicide squad did. This comment makes no sense and is just reaching.
I appreciate the Singaporean government for getting Ubisoft to take another L
This game did one thing really well. It got me playing Black Flag again. What an amazing game. The real pirate game. STILL!!!!!!
Same for me, but Rogue instead
I honestly though this was gonna have a lot of Black Flag aspects to it, we got something completely different… I do have to say I spent 40hrs of game time in this game but more often than not I was doing “chores” to get the upgrades that I wanted. I cant for the life of me convince or sell this game to any of my friends that played 120hrs+ of black flag, it just wouldn’t be right I think
I just downloaded it last night lol
Aren't Black Flag is the best pirate game cuz only like 1 or 2 games exist in the universe that does pirate stuff?
Skull and Bones is definitely a pirate’s game
So let me get this straight: in the endgame , you hunt down formidable creatures like the Kraken and what you get in return for your crew & fleet is…. Calamari appetizers?? 😂😂😂
Hes actually wrong. You can use the materials for other things too. Its not just food, but he doesn't know that.
Either way, the game is at best mid. I'd say a 6 or 7 and thats only if they fix the bugs. Definitely not worthy of AAAA. They need to massively expand on it.
Better deliver democracy and liberty in Helldiver 2 o7
What end game dude there isn’t even a story to the game it’s all about collecting resources and that’s it😂
@@soliitudegaming7275 The game is bad, its worse than mid. They charge money for this FTP garbage.
@@soliitudegaming7275 I mean, most "AAA" games are not worthy of that even lol.
This is literally a mobile game ported to console and PC. "Triple A" studios have hit new lows this year.
you mean Quadruple A?

There's just not that much talent in the industry at the moment. Too many "activists" pretending to care about making good games.
More like double double AA

All of this skull and bones talk is making me want to redownload black flag
SAME!!!
Pretty sure Ubisoft delayed the long waited remaster/remake of Black Flag to release S&B first. And the funny thing is that with all what’s happening with S&B this remaster/remake will be a BIG hit 😏
WHATS UP CHOMO
I never uninstalled it
That's what I did after playing the open beta
If this is quadruple A then RDR2 is decuple A.
10years man.....
Yes luke. We want black flag 2😢
That's all we've been wanting for so long and clearly that's too much to ask for 🤦🏿
You might got it.... But in Wich state😅micro transactions / GRIND/ Pay2progress fast.... 😢
"it is.... A game". Oh boy
They could’ve added so much, boarding ships to attack, attacking on land, dam just attacking in general
This is what broke it for me. Boarding ships was my fave part of Black Flag.
Like everyone else, this makes me interested in playing Black Flag again. I suspect this game is going to sink like a stone.
Yes, this game is just a Marketing Material to Promote Assasin Creed Black Flag
But it’s a AAAA game 😂
a joke of a game.
It's the 1st AAAA game... I mean the 15th 1st AAAA game
Maybe they'll remake the AC4 multiplayer too - to do what Skull & Bones doesn't do.
The defenders for this say that Ubisoft never meant to make a Black Flag 2. That that was never what they intended from the beginning.
That argument seems really odd to me.
If this is true then they never wanted to make money from the beginning 🤷🏾♂️
Other then the naval this has nothing to do with black flag. Not the same world, not the same characters not the same location not the same mechanics and not even the same franchise. If it involved assassins and Templars and it was called Assassins creed Black flag 2 then it could be considered a second black flag.
@@lucasbelmonte2832 Noone cares about your argument because people wanted Black Flag 2.
When my friend confirmed you couldn't board or get into any sword fights it killed all interest for me, I never played Black flag (I do plan to one of these days) but it was one of my favorite things to do in 3
Already got bots 💀
cant make this shit up
What do you mean? 👀
Your right.....this chat is full of bots.
They actually called this a AAAA title.
What an literal clown show.
Might be time to jump back into Black Flag and Rogue to get my pirate/ship fighting needs filled
Gets to end game and still didn't figure out what monstrous teeth are for. They're a separate type of currency used for end game items.
When the end game gear is furniture 💀
One of the most games ever made
Ty for the tips!
Looking at the game in a vacuum, the game is fine. It's akin to NFS with boats. Looking at the game with outside context of AC4 existing, the AAAA comments, 11 years of development, etc. it looks like a blunder imo.
This. We know what Ubi studios were capable of, yet this is what they delivered lol..... same thing with Rocksteady and SSKTJL. They may not be "bad" but they're massive strides backwards from what we've seen these studios/ pubs deliver and they're $70 to boot. It's just embarrassing
@@TheForbiddenOne55The only thing current Ubisoft are capable of is delivering soulless, boring games. The new Prince of Persia is their first genuinely great game in a long time.
15:42 So that's the order he draws stars
Where did you get the hogwats?
dude get your facts right, the monster kill drops currency that can buy you special cosmetics
Was just about to comment this, I understand his opinion, I bought the game and absolutely loved it - I’m starting to think maybe it’s helped that I haven’t played black flag!! (I certainly will now after this).
He’s also referencing the end game and not talking about the Helm and the actual end game. I haven’t found the game grindy whatsoever it’s weird.
You can make a drinking game out of how many times Luke says iterative 😂
That would be assisted suicide from alcohol poisoning with anything stronger than a beer lol 😂 swear he says ‘iterative’ like 8 times in one minute at one point there
Imagine if there was more of a monster hunter quest line where you have to track and hunt huge beasts to give your ship armour and powers etc.
That is what you literally do, the teeth are used to buy blueprints for ship armor and iirc weapons
The only real problem there is only one monster now so going back and forth to it dulls the experience down
The 1-year roadmap for 2024 has some mentions of new monsters, the first being the Megalodon
It was so bad I went back to Black Flag again. Its shocking and Ubisoft were banning people for posting criticism on their subreddit.
I only chopped down trees once early game... got alp my materials from looting and plundering.. or buying it occasionally
Everything needed to craft anything can be obtained by sinking ships you never have to farm
It doesnt matter cause its still boring
Keep hitting us with those high-school English and Math vocabulary 👌🏽
Your grammar leaves much to he desired 😂
Ubisoft singapore did not develop the entirety of black flag, they developed the naval mechanics for black flag and all other AC games that had them so that's what they are experienced with and that's what they are good at.
Also when development of this game started ubisoft singapore was a small support studio which never made thair own game before.
Edit: also it was not pitched as black flag 2, it was originally a multiplayer dlc for black flag, then a spin off and then a new game but it always was going to be just the naval mechanics/ centered around the naval mechanics.
the cooking also give you 30 minute buff that assiot with bracing for less damage less tamina drain while trimming saisl and increasining crew attack dmg and the tteth is for crafting the best armor in the game right now
Ubisoft games are not typically broken messes, just really watered down experiences that feel empty after a few hours.
To be fair, I don’t think anything can live up to 11 years of work
Not to be *that* person, but I think a pirate Far Cry game could work really well.
Or, at least, work better than an Avatar-Far Cry game.
SAB seems like it would be good as a mode of say Black Flag 2 or something similar. Exploring mode or ship battle mode but not a stand alone.
Would be nice if they did do a full fledged pirate game and used these mechanics in it though.
It’s a $10 arcade game being sold for $70. That’s basically it
This or Sea of Thieves? Edit: got it from the video. Sea of Thieves.
Bendover $70 LOL
the monstrous teeth and scales are used to make one of the best ship armors in the game.... Its not just cooking.
Ubisoft made a game that flopped?!!
NO WAY
Gamingbolt figured out the game was intended to be a mobile game and i cannot unsee it, i see it everywhere now.
Something I always expect from a big battle game like this is buying furniture to beat my foes.
The moment I took control of my ship in the demo I instantly knew something was off with the game lol
I went back to play Black Flag
The only good thing about this game is that some people might acctually discover black flag for the first time. Which is a gem and still one of the best games ever made in my opinion i have amazing memories playing that game as a young teen
I mean looks better than Suicide Squad at least. Tho I played 2 hours oh the trial and was kinda bored. At least there’s an 8 hour trial that’s pretty nice
That's like saying that HIV is better than Ebola.
Better than suicide squad? You must be smoking something, this is black flag level of graphical fidelity, maybe higher character polycount but that's it
Ubisoft need to start new IP with no assest from any games they previously made and bring new Art designers as they lack the "wow " from players / this amazing in their games.
No icons and big maps no pointing or tutorials make exploration amazing and rewarding no repetition or at least make it varied
The payouts in this game are worse than death stranding BT payouts, but the action in death stranding was secondary gameplay, it’s front and center for skull and bones
Lol exponential improvement for everyone
Skull and bones might cause Black Flag to get a “Best ongoing game” nomination at this year’s Video Game Awards. It’s gonna have tough competition from Monster Hunter World though.
I’m having a lot of fun playing this game, surprisingly! Never played AC4 so I have nothing to compare it to. I think people are hating a lot on it because they can’t get passed it was initially supposed to be similar to Black Flag. They did a lot wrong ($70 is #1 on this list) but it’s an overall fun game for me.
Dude seriously watch even a little bit of footage of black flag and come back and delete your comment lol
Nah I'm glad you're having fun though, but people aren't "just mad it isn't like black flag".
@@atonofspidersI'm gonna add up my 5 cents to your comment: it was supposed to be world of warships except pirate themed. The issue is that it's not even comparable to games like world warships or tanks
I agree I enjoy this to....already 100 hours in.
That's literally impossible. We're not even 4 entire days in.@@zionwar5338
@user-tk7sf8wk2z Nobody is trying to take enjoyment away from you but we got to be honest about quality of game. There are at least 2 sides to it-personal, subjective enjoyment and more objective comparison to other titles when it comes to mechanics, graphics and such.
Your personal taste is this, personal. You sure as hell can have fun with this game, more power to you but we still to have honest about its shortcomings, especially if we want to get better quality game in future and not cashgrabbing crap. And even personal taste can be discussed and questioned, especially since as you said 'you have nothing to compare it to'. Yeah, that's usually how it works. When you haven't played many games, watched many movies or read many books even the simplest titles can blow your minds but as you experience more you start to see shortcomings of what you once saw as a great thing and realize it was pretty mediocre. Few years back I read Eragon again and yeah...I saw what others were pointing out back when it came out, I still had fun with it as a kid, but it indeed had a lot of flaws that surely hindered my experience. People who played games similar to what Skull&Bones wants to be are at this point, they got more experience and with it they got both the realistic expectations on what can be actually achieved within genre (so they are less likely to get hype and unrealistic hopes) and they got low bar of things that should be in the game as bare minimum.
Look, I like playing old GTA games every now and then, still enjoy them very much but I guess you would understand low scoring of GTA VI if it was announced as AAAA title and then we would get something akin to GTA 2 with Florida theme and there would be a lot of talk if mechanics aren't actually worse than in that older title.
With new games, especially from big studios, with high budget and especially that high price tag we expect quality and progress and Skull&Bones doesn't offer any of that when compared to other pirate and sea themed games from years ago like Sea of Thieves from 6 years ago, Sea Dogs from almost 25 years ago and even to some extent Sid Meier's Pirates both versions from 2004 and OG from '87. Comparison to Black Flag is even more valid since it came from same company, using their own technology. When your game is lacking in comparison to your own title it must be for a reason-because of different design philosophy, with clear trade off "we're not doing this because we're doing this instead'. We don't see that at all here. Skull&Bones clearly went through development hell and was finally quickly slapped together from whatever mechanics and assets they have already made over the years to finally push it out and be done with it. Maybe people would be more understanding if Ubisoft was more humble about it and offered very low price tag but all the talk about Quadruple A because is a clear lie, it's a purely predatory move to get less aware gamers to buy their product
I tried to suck out the poison n got splinters
are we sure it's not a cooking sim?
We changed our minds on starfield? I enjoyed myself with it
It's a fun game it lacks in some areas but it ok for what it is hoping they add more content later to improve where it needs it .it's definitely a group game you get to a point when you need to work together to improve .I'd give it a 7 or 8 needs work.
everyone just needs to back to "black wake"
8:00 THIS is my problem with Skull Bones, on top of the $70 tag. All you needed to do was make Black Flag better visually & more mechanics/upgrades and just REMOVE the Assassins creed part and make it multiplayer.
10:15 this is a great visual
15:20 Ubisoft's "curve" is more like a pyramid where the peak was around 2017 and from there every game they've released is a step down in quality and their games are literally back in 2012 right now!
Far Cry 6, skull and bones, AC Valhalla, watch dogs legion... Games that belong in 2012!
Ubisoft is having a sale on Steam.
AC games like black flag for like 10 dollars.
This should have been a quadruple A free to play!
Skull and Bones launched, i redownloaded Sea of Theives!
Yes! Well said Luke - people want a pirate game... with no Assassin's Creed shenanigans! Exactly. No more Animus, no more wearing a cheesy hoodie instead of a proper tricorne pirate hat, no more immersion breaking B.S... You'd think that would be a simple thing to ask for and yet studios just don't want to deliver a simple and no nonsense pirate game. If done right - that would be massively successful! Like a Ghosts of Tsushima but for pirate games - but with even more options like ships etc. One can dream.
My friend saw a side by side comparison of black flag and skull and bones. He thought black flag was the new game LOL.
“FINALLY” maybe a little… much
I had no expectations going into this game. I paid $17.99 for a month of Ubisoft+ and am now 50+ hours into the game and still having a good time. It's far from perfect, but the end game right now is still kind of fun. I have some more stuff I want to get for my second ship and I am not bored yet. I'm a Division 2, Fallout 76, Diablo 4 player, and this game has kept my attention pretty well. I would say I am going to get close to 100 hours out of it and then I will probably never play it again. Seems worth $17.99.
I played the Beta, liked it. Then ive seen the comparison with AC4.
So I bought a copy on eBay for basically nothing. Saved on a 70$ game
It looks like you are just trying to fight a boss while on ice. No one can stop moving or stop sliding around the arena
Now, get this: chat ingame STILL doesn't work. At least on Xbox. Not sure about PC...
I couldn't even get past the level two on skull and bones. It made me want to play Black flag again, they should have just remastered Black flag.
Well I’m pretty much done. I had a lot of fun for about 40 hours and 20-30 realizing it’s pretty much a beta that is missing a lot. Nothing left to do
Amazingly there are people, including some small youtubers defending this game 😂

I’m really enjoying the game and I didn’t think I would. And the main reason I can attest to my enjoyment of it is because a friend of mine has been really excited for it and he knew quite a bit about it before even the closed beta released. I tried the open beta with him and he already had more than enough materials for me to make everything I needed. And he and I have been plundering fairly high level forts together and I’m having a lot of fun. So I can empathize with someone who would find it boring, granted I’m already technically in the beginning phases of the end game and I’ve barely done any main quests.
Idk why?!?!? I just feel like we are getting off on the right foot this year in gaming!!!! It’s gonna be a good one! Lmao
Just thought I would mention the teeth are not for cooking you have to accumulate them and hand them in to a tribe for blueprints to make betters ships and components this game is way more in depth than this guide it is actually surprisingly fun.

awesome!!!
I would just play Black Flag tbh
I’ve been hype for this for YEARS. What a shame.
How do you fuck up black flag 2?
you know i hear a lot about "games as a service" from ubisoft nowadays but i rarely hear about "games as a fun time". think something got lost in priorities.
So its battleships 3D 2024 lol
I used to give them the tiny "pass" with "oh it was in development hell", but this is Ubisoft - the champion of copy-paste games....and they managed to make a pirate game, based off Black Flag, and somehow used "cut" instead of "copy".
"Restarting development" shouldn't be such a big issue for Ubisoft, they had the foundations, all of it.
Either this was made in the last year or two, or they had a skeleton crew work on this for longer than two years, and launched it simply to honor the deal with Singaporean government, and save some face because Ubi cultists are going to defend this as the "best pirate game ever".
Quadruple A!!!!
Suicide squad < arkham series
Skull and bones < black flag
Starfield < no mans sky
I see a pattern😅
This video is the proof that Yves Guillemot was talking out of his a*s, when he said Skull and Bones was AAAA. The price is AAAA, while the quality is basically non-existent.
I think it should be mandatory for games to release demos before official release, recently that seems to be happening with companies that are confident with their product and will use the feedback to try and accommodate our wishes. Games like this are just a cash grab
16:00 BGS is on a downward trend. It's like they spend all their resources on trying to keep their engine competitive, failing, and also letting everything else about their games go to sh!t.
I wish Rockstar Games would make a pirate game 1 day.

i feel sorry for the people who still preorder Ubisoft games its always the same shit

I'm enjoying it
Those monstrous items can be used for more than just food. You can use it to craft probably one the best ship armours in the game.
I actually think boarding ships would be worse for this game. It worked in Black Flag. But this seems different to me. There’s a lot going on, you can be fighting one ship and then have to fight another right after or even at the same time. I think it’s better to just sink the ship and move on the next or onto wherever you need to be. I have not missed boarding at all in this game and if you come into this game expecting or wanting that, then it’s not for you and you’re gonna be disappointed. (Just my opinion though)
The game isn’t perfect and definitely needs work. But I don’t think it deserves a lot of the hate it’s getting from some people.
Imagine a pirate game without treasure, boarding, pistols, sword fight, ships fight...... Well it's kinda a part of the pirate universe.
It's like a zombie game without shotgun or blood.
Or a fantasy game without magic :/ might work but everyone wait for it, you can do as you want but keep it in the universe logic.
BTW yeah people hate is fair enough, Let's not beeing delusional and having Stockholm syndrome FFS.
Paying a Live game, grinding, pay gap ect, slow grinding, frustrating players for cash grab. After 200million dollars budgets and more than 10years of game developpement.... Let's be real it's okay to like a shitty game everyone have different taste but let's put our emotions and feelings on the side when giving our critics for the game we love or hate. 🙃👍

I just realized the best way to describe how skull and bones is a flop is that it takes 15 seconds to load to a menu then load to my ship watch a short cinematic and then finally im ready to sail. Where as in 15 seconds on black flag I could have dove in the water got onto the jackdaw blasted a schooner and already have been boarding the ship. lmao and one took 11 YEARS
