This has plenty of market appeal. Even contacting a major company like WWE as so many kids would love to play with an action figure of themself against other wrestlers. Even getting one of their friends to form a tag team. Could be huge money.
WWE is too big, regular plastic molding would be cheaper to manufacture. The market for this type of business is small batch manufacturing. When a company only needs 100 parts
The first time I saw this concept was in Kansas City. A family portrait could cost upwards of $1,000, if we were to 3D print everyone and give it as a gift. We got out of there fast and in a hurry. Way too expensive. There were some statuettes of pets, and those were pretty cute, but totally not worth the price.
Peter said it right in the beginning.. thanks for the idea now I don't need you.. personally I could see it as a fun novelty idea to put in a mall if it was cheap but for the price of the figurines it wouldn't have much of a market.. good for a small hobby business for a few individuals but no real marketing value Well one thing I didn't think of would be grandparents wanting figurines of grandchildren.. that could be a somewhat viable market
At my college, I got to make a small 3D-print of my head lol. My whole family’s heads are sitting there somewhere in the house. It’s quite funny honestly
It has definetely a market and I find it cool, problem is that this guy doesnt own the technology, which basically consists on a expensive 3d printer that everyone could buy. He hasnt invented anything, he just does something that others are doing/can do, meaning he's not so investable.
Interesting statement of Sylvain towards the end. From what I can tell, his business(s) isn't doing so hot and he admitted in making some not good choices from his past in that business aspect. I really do not believe he saw this idea and project worthy, he just needed a loan and thought his idea of printing yourself in 3D was so grand he doesn't have to give them any reason to invest.
We did something extremely similar to that here in the US. It was huge around Steampunk conventions which is a really small market. After my wife cleaned up the image, we sent it to the printers. If you don't own the printer, you aren't making any money. We decided to cut our losses and turn our energies to something else.
This guys should’ve said it can be used for wedding cakes, for kids before they grow up, people’s animals and people that cosplay so they can see themselves dressed up. He would’ve killed it.

Wouldn't you agree gifting business owner Nick Jenkins?" This dumb owner: "Actually nah what I'm gonna do is make a statue selfie business with the technology." So much potential squandered
Well said dude. Creating an accurate model of myself wearing stuff like harry potter cloaks, or Game of Thrones/Lord ot Rings outfits would be pretty cool!
Good idea, but 1. You can't scan dead relatives - unless you dig em up, or scan them before you put them in the ground 2. Scanning actors to make figures etc. - You can already buy action figures for practically any movie, so you're competing with that market, and getting the rights to manipulate the actors and or characters in any way with any clothing combination etc. would be tricky (copyrights etc.) 3. How do you scan your relatives and friends without them knowing? And if they're in on it, who is buying the figure of them in the crazy outfit? Them, or you?
Isn’t it cute though? like having a statue of you and/or your friends. I have so many friends who’d love this. It’s like having a picture of yourself but in a cooler form. Idk I feel like it isn’t as narcissistic as people make it out to be....
There's nothing wrong with the idea. It has extreme potential and options. His offer, being an investment for the dragons however, was completely shite.

@@Locutus unlikely given it's a British show mainly watched by British people - they do upload midday UK time because it gets them views. It's not a presumption, it's good business sense and keeping subscribers happy.
@@TallulahLaGhash That's presumptuous again, to say it's mainly British people. However, that is more nitpicking on my part. But, it's like Dragons Den Ireland or Shark Tank Aus, are their videos mainly being watched by Irish or Aussies? I know of another YTer that actually releases their videos in the morning our time, that way Americans waking up, will see a new video, with views on it.
@@Locutus maybe presumptious, but it's commonsense that a RUclips channel run by the actual production company of national broadcasting corporation (ie the BBC) would not be putting out their content in a way that best suits the timezone that 1. Their staff work in and 2. Appeals mainly to a native audience who are familiar with that show? You will see that the Irish version has far less viewers, but those active on the daily comments section are typically people in Ireland who watched the show on their national TV. Of course every good show will broaden out to a global audience, but in my mind, the presumptuous thing here is the idea that the people running the channel are catering to Americans. It's a very American-centric presumption. Especially given the channel is very receptive to audience comments. It has to be. It is a branch off of the BBC, their content is regulated so they scrutinise their engagement. You can witness this in how they put more clickbait titles, until the comments complained. Then they would change them. Trust me they market to the lunchtime crew, just as the Irish one does, both putting out content at sameish time as they do see that's a popular thing within their fanbase.
@@TallulahLaGhash I don't believe this YT channel is actually run by the BBC, I think a separate company from BBC runs the channel. I could be wrong. I'm not claiming that the show is catering for Americans, I'm saying that *could* be *a* possibility, *a* possibility of many. But with it being released at lunchtime doesn't necessarily mean that are aiming for us Brits, specifically. They *may* be releasing it for another audience, that will see the views later and because it has views, people are more likely to watch the video.

All individuals who are not psychopaths, after saying '' I don't need you then'' in such a particular moment towards a such respectfull entrepreneur, would feel deep inside that they spoke rudely and in some point would feel guilty. I think Peter felt such immediately afterwards.
This would be huge is you hit the best target audience. People who love action figures. Cosplay events for example. Personalise pieces for board games and doll houses.
I think he made the mistake of using people for his subjects. I'll bet that there are tons of people that would like a model of their pets. Also, small runs of product display models for use by salespeople would also have some appeal. There are numerous other similar applications for his system.
Peter is right. The variety of things you could make are almost endless so why have limitations when you have the skills? 🤔 swap that self model for a family model or one of them with their dog's or cat's or to commemorate something special like birthday, wedding, graduation, anniversary, new born etc etc More importantly he should learn the software instead of sticking with scan and print techniques, offer online services so people dont have to leave their homes for more simplified models. I do 3d printing myself but I would never limit my potential income by sticking to one small market.

All else aside, who WOULDN'T want a small statue of themselves? Their kids? Their parents? Maybe their pets? I find the notion that no one would want that to be insultingly absurd. TONS of people would absolutely LOVE it. For example, I would LOVE one of my now-deceased mom, and grandparents. I would LOVE to have had one of the younger versions of my now-grown children. And come on... because someone "could" purchase an expensive 3D printer and scanner setup this is a bad idea? Give me a damn break. You really think the average soccer mom is going to even consider the investment, time, learning curve, physical space, etc... required when all they want is an awesome statue of their 5-year son? Hell no. Using that dumb logic, no one would ever buy virtually any product ever. After all, I could just buy the machinery to make my own product X.
The point is that is asking more money that the machine that does that is worth. Would you give someone 100 dollar to have 10% of a company that makes lemonade if you can buy a lemon juicer for 10 Dollar and pay someone to make it and have 100% of the income?
This is only an observation, but from this episode of the man seeking an investment, has a difficult time giving an answer to the question how much profit he has made over 3 years with his company. Something similar happened in a kitchen nightmares episode the secret garden. Gordon asked the owner Michelle how much money he made in 7 years. Gordon had to drag the answer out of him. Is this a French thing? Again this is only an observation.

The possibility he is offering is amazing. There's a huge difference between the UK version of this show and the american. The American dragons or sharks is there known are generally a lot more optimistic in willing to support with a lot more money. The dragons don't seem to be able to see much into the future or possibilities beyond what is presented at the moment. This looks like a product with a lot of potential.
This has plenty of market appeal. Even contacting a major company like WWE as so many kids would love to play with an action figure of themself against other wrestlers. Even getting one of their friends to form a tag team. Could be huge money.
Oh that's actually really interesting
WWE is too big, regular plastic molding would be cheaper to manufacture. The market for this type of business is small batch manufacturing. When a company only needs 100 parts
The first time I saw this concept was in Kansas City. A family portrait could cost upwards of $1,000, if we were to 3D print everyone and give it as a gift. We got out of there fast and in a hurry. Way too expensive. There were some statuettes of pets, and those were pretty cute, but totally not worth the price.
If you could do it with multiple people (group of friends, bride and groom) or be able to do it with pets I could see a larger market
So get multiples and put them next to each other, genius.
Peter said it right in the beginning.. thanks for the idea now I don't need you.. personally I could see it as a fun novelty idea to put in a mall if it was cheap but for the price of the figurines it wouldn't have much of a market.. good for a small hobby business for a few individuals but no real marketing value
Well one thing I didn't think of would be grandparents wanting figurines of grandchildren.. that could be a somewhat viable market

No. A dragon can buy the printer him/her/theyself for less than the cost of the investment, and own 100% of it.
You missed the point. It could’ve been for anything but anyone can do it, there’s nothing proprietary.
He hasn’t even started the business yet. If he believed in it he would fund it himself.
I feel like this could be great for people who are into cosplay and roleplaying games. Like imagine that you could have a 3D statue of your character! So cool
Yup, plus YT influencers could sell them to their followers. A huge market out there.

Good idea, but
1. You can't scan dead relatives - unless you dig em up, or scan them before you put them in the ground
2. Scanning actors to make figures etc. - You can already buy action figures for practically any movie, so you're competing with that market, and getting the rights to manipulate the actors and or characters in any way with any clothing combination etc. would be tricky (copyrights etc.)
3. How do you scan your relatives and friends without them knowing? And if they're in on it, who is buying the figure of them in the crazy outfit? Them, or you?

They publish this video at lunch while we are having lunch yum
Wow. Who cares? It's a bit presumptuous that they release it for lunchtime. Maybe it's released for the Americans waking up in the morning?
Last time I was this early The Dead Sea was just a little unwell.

Never mention you have anything else which your not including. The dragons need to own you completely to go into business with you.
Side businesses, property, wives, it all needs to be on the table to get Pieter interested.
"I don't want a statue of myself. So you're business idea is useless"
All individuals who are not psychopaths, after saying '' I don't need you then'' in such a particular moment towards a such respectfull entrepreneur, would feel deep inside that they spoke rudely and in some point would feel guilty. I think Peter felt such immediately afterwards.
but he's completely right though, Peter could very easily buy a hundred of these overnight so why would he need the guy?
He was making a point. And he is right.
Best entrance i've seen in the den
I love this idea ,so unique
This would be huge is you hit the best target audience. People who love action figures. Cosplay events for example. Personalise pieces for board games and doll houses.
Ohhhh 3Denied!
Minitures of couples or groups would make a better sell than just a single person
🤔 swap that self model for a family model or one of them with their dog's or cat's or to commemorate something special like birthday, wedding, graduation, anniversary, new born etc etc
More importantly he should learn the software instead of sticking with scan and print techniques, offer online services so people dont have to leave their homes for more simplified models.
I do 3d printing myself but I would never limit my potential income by sticking to one small market.
Man, I know the guy isn't helping himself, but if Peter said, I could do this and that and do it myself, I don't need you, that has to hurt, I can feel my heart shatter at that moment

I think a 3D printed Peter doll would be pretty cool

This is only an observation, but from this episode of the man seeking an investment, has a difficult time giving an answer to the question how much profit he has made over 3 years with his company. Something similar happened in a kitchen nightmares episode the secret garden. Gordon asked the owner Michelle how much money he made in 7 years. Gordon had to drag the answer out of him. Is this a French thing? Again this is only an observation.
Yes, the French pull this move all the time
Well a French thing would be to be shy about your finances, how much you have, how much you earn, your salary etc... However he's an entrepreneur talking about one of his company so I don't really see why
Do you really judge an entire nation because of two TV shows though?
The possibility he is offering is amazing. There's a huge difference between the UK version of this show and the american. The American dragons or sharks is there known are generally a lot more optimistic in willing to support with a lot more money. The dragons don't seem to be able to see much into the future or possibilities beyond what is presented at the moment. I'm starting to get more of an idea why the UK continues to slip behind the rest of the world when it comes to innovation. You can't get very far when you keep saying can't, won't, don't, wouldn't, couldn't or shouldn't.
@RUclips RUclips Americans aren't traveling to the UK for a "better life" you numpty. The UK, in its entirety, is worth less than California. A single US state.
