Tej got his maths wrong a couple of times. He said 20% of 20,000 pubs was 5,000. Also not sure why he thinks 4 to 5 million quid revenue a year is small.
I had the same thought. £20 a week for something you surely can get for free is ridiculous. Tej also got his numbers wrong. 20% of 20000 is 4000, not 5000 but even with 4000 pubs you get £4m a year. In a worse scenario with 1000 pubs you get £1m a year while his company valuation is £400000 so if he had just 1000 pubs it would be a good investment. But I doubt he could convince a lot of pubs to buy it.
This has been around for a good 15 years. Our pub had something similar that used propitiatory devices as smart phones/tablets wasn't as prevalent in those days. But within a few years it was upgrded to be phone interactive as well.
As a full time quiz host, I can categorically tell you that app based quizzes are definitely the future. But having to be connected to the internet, given the rubbish WiFi that pubs have and the variety of connection speeds provided by mobile networks, is never going to be the way to go. I host using the SpeedQuizzing format, which connects teams to my quiz by WiFi with no internet connection.
