You know? It's crazy, i remember reading an article on Ozzy and he was in love with drugs, apparently he came home once and got a bowl and a wooden rolling pin and persisted to put all of his drugs into the bowl to make a concoction, using the bowl and rolling pin as a pestle and mortar.. then snorting lines of the concoction to defy Sharron. He's another Keith Richards I'm sure. Everytime you smoke a cigarette, god takes a minute from your life and donates it to Ozzy and Keith 🤣

Great musical talents, some of the best mic work and vocal control you’ll ever see in a live performance. I guess it’s still pretty cool how they kicked ass on the downlow. Sabbath are part of the reason I have hearing problems today! In the 70's I would sit with my back on the speakers and just crank it. It's an old saying, but sadly true, they really don't make music like that anymore, Deep Purple, Budgie, ect.
Rival Sons did a great job, I like that the lead guitarist didn't try to emulate Tony I. Tony had a problem with his right hand with the tops of 2 middle fingers missing, and the left handed guitar strings were lighter than usual, banjo strings i believe, and slack, you would be a fool to try to copy that, so kudos to him for not pretending. I would go to their concert if they did a Sabbath Tribute show!

They captured the sound of the original recordings brilliantly. I know Sabbath think of the original lineup as the definitive Black Sabbath but I think of the years with Ronnie as Sabbath too, no better metal singer! Other albums with Tony Martin produced some killer music also.

There will never be another band like Sabbath or a lot of their contemporaries ever again.. These guys and many of their era were literally music Gods. With legit talent that was the pinnacle of human achievement up to that time..Yes there are many really killer bands..unbelievable at that. But these guys came from a time younger music lovers cannot really comprehend. These bands only had pictures or posters and word of mouth and of course their albums for people to experience them, the mystique and the lore of the stories were epic and so different than today. Music wise I believe it was more personal and affected people deeply on a very different level, the musicianship was too...Even though there are very very good musicians today it's not close to the music experience 30 or 40 years ago.

@@jackthomson5047 Ronnie James Dio saved Black Sabbath not ONCE, not TWICE, but THREE times. 1980's Heaven and Hell made Black Sabbath relevant again with one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time, 1992's Dehumanizer made them relevant a second time when the band had been playing CLUBS, and the 2006 reunion under the name "Heaven & Hell" (still Black Sabbath to me) would result in new killer Sabbath material (three new songs on the Dio years compilation and new studio album "The Devil You Know") and three successful tours. Ozzy was the original, and respect is undoubtedly due, but we have to remember he was out of juice and totally disengaged from the writing process during "Never Say Die" (1978)....drugs obviously a factor. After the inevitable firing of Ozzy Osbourne, it was either A) end Black Sabbath or B) carry on with somebody new. Option B resulted in Sabbath continuing to release two masterpieces (Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules) and Ozzy finding Randy Rhoads and releasing killer material of their own (Blizzard and Diary). Dio was as much a part of Sabbath as anybody else and deserves recognition for his strong contributions.

Brandon: Dio fit in perfectly when he arrived. He had all that Black Sabbath needed when they were virtually left with their dicks in the dirt. Dio was a total godsend for both the band and himself. He amplified both the sun along with the mystery of the moons shadow. A match made in Heaven and Hell...

And while these two get most of the recognition they've got one of the best rhythm sections out there today. Not sure how I feel about them adding the keyboards the last few years.....it''s not bad, but I think that it was to help with the live stuff.
