He is def in my tops list.. them being.. Robert Plant.. Ian Thornley... Chris Cornell... Paul Rodgers .. Lincoln Durham and Jay of course yep ..all theses VOICES 😎✌️
Total agree with Marc below. Reminds me so much more of Paul Rodgers. Jay is stunning. Saw him live this year and am just in awe. Brilliant group all round. LOVE
zep was a great band..but back in the 70's some bands were superiors than zep..Deep Purple, Queen, Dire Straits were and are superiors..if you like zep, great, you have good musical taste, but in a impartial opinion zep have better marketing than other bands..
@@augustomacchioli2172 what you talking about?? What marketing are did Zep have?? It was exactly the opposite.. Zep didn't rely on marketing.. Grant made sure they remained obscured, mystical, off the news.. It created great demand for their incredible live shows.. An any material their released.. Which was few an in-between.. I live the era.. It was frustrating to like a band so much but gave next to no access to info.. I'm not going to talk about Deep Purple, Dire Straits, Queen.. They were all good.. The reason why they didn't match zep then and through the ages is the quality of the material they composed and the quality of musicianship didn't match Zeppelin's..
Now 14 people . An electricfing experience live. Saw them March 7 2020 Tampa Florida. Can't wait till all the covid19 dust clears up. Got tickets to 4 shows in Florida and NC.
I know this video is about Rival Sons and they're completely badass. But when I see 97.1 The Eagle, I immediately am taken back to those longer drives home from work listening to Russ Martin. Miss him so much.
These two thumbs down must be from two guys who had their girlfriends stolen by Jay & Scott. No, seriously, they probably never had a girlfriend in the first place. lol What a song, what a performance! I demand an acoustic album, like...now!
Yes, he has a unique vocal style, shades of folksiness, vibrato, they tour constantly, he can sing it gentle, he can deliver it a la hard rock, it's magical, period!
Made the 4 and a half hour drive to Dallas from San Antonio to see them at Trees the same night this was filmed. It was April 2019 got to meet Jay and Scott after the show really cool guys.Feral Roots is a love at first listen song for me.Whenever the day comes that I leave this earth one of my requests is for this song to be played at my memorial service.
This brings me back to the day when singers were real singers , not fabricated by machines in a studio. When someone can sound like this acoustically, well, enough said.
I love love love this!!! Reminds me of my home in these Appalachian Mountains that I love so much. Definitely something spiritual about this song that makes it extra special.
We were there, our first meet of the guys. The video doesn't capture how haunting this song is in an intimate setting. I cried. Trees the next day, Temple Live and then Nashville. Amazing guys that gives it all.
My eyes are getting a bit misty just listening to the video. Such a powerful song and voice. This band deserves so much more, but I'll settle for whatever keeps them together and releasing new music. Great way to reset the soul after a long day at work...
Give it all is exactly right! Hardest working band I ever saw. They played a small venue in Carrboro, NC (shout out to Cat's Cradle) and performed like they were in front of 10,000!! Really put their heart into it. I will pay to see them every time I have the opportunity.
@@blakejustice1972 Exactly, We are in Texas, but willing to go to other states within a 11 hour or so one way drive to catch them! They are worth it! The ONLY band we will do this for. They mean that much to us ans we can't get enough of them.
Absolutamente maravilloso. Jay no canta. Jay ora. Jay implora, y lo escuchan. Scott es un guitarrista de élite. Con esta interpretación bien se podría hacer un cortometraje.
Wow...sounds unreal. Its like Paul Rodgers singing Zeppelin songs or something. But with it's own spin and sound. Blown away, and that NEVER happens with rock music anymore.
These guys caught my ear at a 2012 Fest in Germany when their cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well" caught my ear....by the end of their set I was hooked.
I didn't know them until I saw them open for Black Sabbath a few years ago. They blew up the crowd. It's great when a band is better live than on record.
It’s hard to believe that these boys are from California when you’d think that they grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Definitely bringing back the Hatfields and the McCoys. A family feud that still exists today. .

Everyone talks about Jay’s voice, and indeed it is special. However, credit must also go to Scott who is a first rate guitar player.
I didn’t notice he was good at guitar
dude is a G

Mr. Fuzzlord himself! Scott's a rock star for sure.
Miley is a beast on the drums as well.

I put Glenn Hughes in there as well.
@@Louisthesaxman1 Yes. She is incredible. They should sing together.
Wish they'd do an acoustic album or tour. It's so much easier to appreciate Jay's vocals this way.
They should be on every tv and radio station in the UK. Best band in the world right now
They arent on American radio either as far as Ive heard. Glad I found them they are as you say the best right now in my opinion.
Amazing. Mr Jays voice sure is the finest since Plant. The best since 1970.
Petter Hegevall Jay and also Myles Kennedy 🤘
I'd say he reminds me more of Paul Rogers particularly on this song.

Paul Janeway has entered the chat
One of the greatest rock bands since Zep in my humble opinion!!
Mine too.

Zero arguments there. With the amount of complete dogshit that comes out nowadays, the Rival boys are a complete breath of fresh air.

Jay's voice is a true gift from God! One talented human being!
Anyone comeback and just KEEP listening to this? SO pleasant to work to. :-)

The Sons killed it in Dallas last night. I know it was a great show because I'm hoarse, sore, and partially deaf. I love this band!!!

Insanely good..Best rock band Ive heard in 20 years...and better live than on record.
Belongs on a Clint Eastwood Western soundtrack , would have been perfect for Outlaw Josey Wales or Unforgiven
They used to have a great Good, Bad and The Ugly intro to every show a couple years ago. You nailed it!

On the mountain where I was born
There are trees that would call my name
On the wind, they would bring a song
For every feral lead to claim
They said keep your eyes open
And we'll teach you to dream while you are awake
Well, they haven't spoken
Since their branches were broken for the fire that they told me to
Feral roots calling me back home
Feral roots are calling me back home
On the book where my page was torn
There are words that I don't understand
All my elders they tell me those ones
Were not writ by human hands
Well, I just don't believe that's true
If the truth can be written, then the truth can be hid
Those words are commanding you
Though your body may grow old in your mind
You must remain a kid
Feral roots are calling me back home
Feral roots calling me back home
Feral roots calling me back home
Feral roots calling me back home
Feral roots calling me back home
Feral roots calling me back home
Feral roots calling me back home

Very good song, very cool band. Sounds like Morrison and Plant had jammed together as a two-head-hydra
Throw in some Paul Rodgers into mix and what you get is Jay!!!
