@@onearmedwampa It's my mistake then because I didn't check the tuning before commenting, however the problem for me is that James voice is constantly in a high tone that doesn't feel right, makes his voice sound weak and unstable. At least that's how I see it.
I just wanna take the time to say that bands like Budgie, Sir Lord Baltimore, Lucifer's Friend, and Leaf Hound, you were there with Sabbath at the early days, too, and your contributions aren't forgotten. History is written by the winners, and the only reason you're not on that stage is record sales, not the quality of your music
The reason that Sabbath are the "winners" by whom history is written is because they were SO much better than all the other bands you listed. Like, no comparison. As good as those bands were in their day (particularly Lucifer's friend, whose debut LP is one of my top 20 records of all time), at the end of the day they were all just bluesy jam bands. Those kinds of bands were a dime a dozen between 1969 and 1975, while Black Sabbath stood apart from every other band of its era. By their second LP they had created a sound none of their contemporaries came close to and which still sounds like heavy metal today. Every other band just sounds dated. It's classic rock, whereas Sabbath is timeless rock
Those were cool bands, but Sabbath is next level. No band was as heavy and dark, but also as interesting, innovative, and consistent in 1969/1970 as Black Sabbath.
The other surving members of Black Sabbath at the time were missing. People like Ronnie James Dio, Vinny Appice, Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes, Eric Singer, Tony Martin, Neil Murray, Geoff Nicholls, ect. That was only a few
well yeah but they didn't make the original sabbath sound, merely contributed to it. Don't get me wrong Dio and others are excellent, but not the original 4.
I don't understand why Dio wasn't inducted. Just like KISS that were inducted the four original members, but the committee skipped the other members specially Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick.
@@FortressofShred Ozzy is more famous, but the DIO era albums also sold very well. There's zero reason not to include a mention of DIO.
