Rush is the only band for me that means so much more than just the music on its own. They are/ were so easy to follow. Every year since 1974 they have given us an album ( remember those), no band fights that we heard of, no sign of drug abuse, maybe a little drug use. Jan 7th. 2020. I sat at my desk tears streaming. My beautiful wife of 20 years, walked into my office. I'd been blaring my spotify RUSH channel for about 8-9 hours straight. My favorite band, by far. Probably been to 40 shows since I first saw them in '80. I took a week off work in 2015 to see 5 shows of the R40 tour. Sadly, their last. So much talent concentrated in three musical geniuses. I'm a grown man that cried watching their Hall of Fame induction. As I type this comment, 11 years later, I'm blasting side A of Moving Pictures on my home office stereo.
That rare smile from Neil @ 25:22 warms my heart. It's been so much loss and heartache in the past 10 years, we lost both drummers who played in these performances, politics and war and disease have destroyed lives and hurt so many people. But yet we have their music to inspire us and bring us joy. Seeing him smile like that makes me so happy. I'm so sad for him that he was cheated of his time with his family after his career. I wish I could have seen Rush live and never will, but am so glad they were able to be honored here. They say you only really die the last time someone speaks your name. None of these people will ever, ever die in my opinion. Thank you for everything.
Also Taylor was a MASSIVE influence for me as well and I am devastated by his loss. But seeing him play his little baby looking kit next to Neil's grown up kit and facing him like Maggie in the car in the intro to the Simpsons is hilarious.
That was really beautiful. Captured the sentiments of a lot of people who may never have seen them but appreciate them. It's been a tough last 5 or six years and looks like we have a road ahead of us that\s gonna be tough. I fear we will have your sentiment to look back on more than than we might like. Thank you.
This is what I loved about Rush. They made great music. They were polite, humble, beyond talented, yet always in on the joke. Most importantly they let people have dignity. Neil left us way too soon.
My neighbor turned me onto Rush in 1976 and let me listen to only one song. For a kid not previously much interested in music, this was revelatory. Not long after acquiring my own copy of 2112 I began comparing all other music and bands to Rush - 45 years later, a couple have come close, but none have surpassed them.
Holy shit.... Imagine being up there playing 2112 in a Rush costume and....feeling Neil's kit start to rumble behind you.... what an epic moment that was for those kids. My god...
so happy Neil got to experience this with the fans while still here. I know they’ve said they dont care too much about the hall of fame, but im sure it was great to FINALLY get that recognition for the band, for us fans for RUSH as a whole.
It is too bad so many commenters on the speech didn't get it. You had to be fans and understand the story the Alex explained. This was classic and funny.
I'm not a fan so I wonder if Alex's speech was a reply to Geedy after he said "blah blah blah" to Alex during the YES induction ceremony, Couldn't get the ideas of some parts of this "blah blah" speech but in the end I got the message, I think. Sweet, Alex!
@@ooviedocthe YES induction was way after this, in 2017 or so, this was- as the video says- 2013. Alex has said in interviews that he actually had a whole speech planned out, the paper he pulled out was that speech, but he decided to not do it and then do the blah blah blah pretty spur of the moment.
That lady with the glasses at the table I am pretty sure that is Donna Halper she helped launch RUSH when she was a DJ in Cleveland and they never forgot her she has been invited by the band to many honors they have gotten RIP Neil and guys thanks for the great music you all deserve this honor you made us Canadians so proud how fitting the journey started in Cleveland now they are back and have come full circle with their induction to the RRHOF

I have never heard such a humble speech by any band. They gave praise to how much help they had along the way. They are amazing even though they aren't my type of music they may have the best acceptance speech of all time
RusH was composed of 3 compulsive perfectionist, and genuine good people that do not have any ego trips that have lead to the demise of many successful bands. Truly GREAT musicians that are also truly great friends.... Resulting in some of the cleanest, tightest most amazing music ever made.

In 1982, I was 11 years old, and one particular song from the album "Moving Pictures" had me hooked for a lifetime - "Red Barchetta." In that same year, I began to learn how to play the guitar. By 1983, I was able to play their songs for the first time, "The Trees" and It was the start of my musical journey until today. Geddy, Alex and Neil from the bottom of my heart...Thank You very much
My favorite Rush song too . Would have been cool if they also sang Time Stand Still. ... "not looking back but i want to look around me now ... see more of the people and the places that surround me now ..."

"Fan base only rivaled by the Grateful Dead." And in some cases, intertwined with the Dead's fan base. I'm a 57-year-old deadhead who's loved Rush since I first heard "Fly By Night" on the radio when I was all of 9 years old. First concert: 1/26/80 at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY -- just a few months after my first Dead show the previous October. Good times both.
Watching this ten years later. RUSH and their amazing music means so much to me. First time I ever saw them live I was mesmerized and enthralled. I’m also crying because Neil is gone and I will never see another RUSH concert. I’m glad he lived to see this happen.
Taylor Hawkins being SO excited FOR THEM is just...such a wonderful tribute to the guy he is. I won't ever say was. He IS that awesome, that will never end. That kind of positive spirit doesn't stop.
2024...still effin great...not only the greatest ever rock band...the greatest ever Hall of fame induction too...not only RUSH were inducted...all we fans were too!!!!!
My Gawd. Geddy's voice!! He is mindblowing and was forever humble. Never dismissing his musicianship! Such a brilliant bassist while he sings lead with a cloudbusting range!! The man deserved legend status!!
This must be the 8th time I see this video, and it doesn't get old. So good to read these posts and realize that I wasn't alone in the emotions and thoughts this trio from Canada stirred in me. As time goes on, Rush becomes even a more precious and rare gem. That they lasted that long, still working, still playing and enjoying each others company, was and still is a blessing indeed. Thank you, Canada.
God bless Neil. As a drummer for nearly 50 years now myself I always tried to play like him and learned so much from him. It breaks my Heart that he passed even to this day 🙏
What an honour to open for, play into their song, and share a stage with Rush. A long deserved acknowledgement of this incredible band that we proudly call local. I miss these guys. The news of Neil's passing affected me so much that I had to pull over my truck on highway as the announcement came over the radio in Toronto. RIP Professor, and Taylor.
Still one of the BEST Rock and Roll inductions. Hearing the eruption of the audience when it was first announced...gets me everytime...every single time! These guys are a model for other rock bands to follow but they will never come close to the Trio. For as large as they are...they never forgot their roots and stayed humble. RUSH ON!
Anytime I'm feeling down and want a pick-me-up, I watch some aspect of Rush's induction into the RRHOF. A magnificient acknowledgement of a band that did it "the RIGHT way", no matter how long it took the squares to realize it.

so happy Neil got to experience this with the fans while still here. I know they’ve said they dont care too much about the hall of fame, but im sure it was great to FINALLY get that recognition for the band, for us fans for RUSH as a whole.
I think they did it for the fans. the fans spoke and the the rock and roll hof finally listened.
Rush is the GOAT.
BAR NONE
That was the most heart felt blah blah i've ever heard 😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lmfao right?
Geddy Lee improvising and dropping this freaking gem of a bassline will always leave me flabbergasted. The man is a genius
Three of the greatest musicians ever got together and created... RUSH. RIP to my influence... Neil Peart.
You know what?, im almost 60, ive been part of the RCA record club(1 Penney 4 your soul) I have this album!!! 8th grade 1978, this album changed my life!!!!
@meangene6766 YES!!!! That was me too!!! I think I remember the introductory "12 albums for 1 penny" and Rush 2112 was one of my selections. That was heaven...until I discovered shipping wasn't included! Either way, good times, great memories, and incredible music. 🎶
Everytime I have seen Rush Live. The one thing is obvious..They are great friends..
They were a tight knit family 💎🏆⭐️
You said that perfectly, best band ever, I seen them live 23 times. RIP PROFESSOR.
@@michaelmiceli9889 Thanks brother.
Nice...! I saw them only once "Exit Stage Left" tour.
@@2869may love that album I think best performance or La villa Strangiato Alex at his best but never gets the credit he deserves such a master musician very underrated. RUSH did it their way and it worked well.
@@michaelmiceli9889 Absolutely, I agree.!
5 years ago today, a legend was lost. I will do my best to post every year on this day to make sure nobody will ever forget.
The measure of one's life is love and respect, so hard to earn, so easily burned. Just one insanely beautiful line amongst many many written by this geniuse of a man. Neil you are sooooooo missssed. Rush forever.
In 1982, I was 11 years old, and one particular song from the album "Moving Pictures" had me hooked for a lifetime - "Red Barchetta." In that same year, I began to learn how to play the guitar. By 1983, I was able to play their songs for the first time, "The Trees"
and It was the start of my musical journey until today.
Geddy, Alex and Neil from the bottom of my heart...Thank You very much
Red Barchetta was my groove, too. The music and the awesome story told in song made it an instant personal favourite. That whole album is on fire.
My favorite Rush song too . Would have been cool if they also sang Time Stand Still. ... "not looking back but i want to look around me now ... see more of the people and the places that surround me now ..."
Alex Lifeson’s acceptance speech is one for the ages.
Geddy Lee singing the last verse on "Crossroad" it´s really a ribbon to such a present for blues and rock and roll
First Concert for me. 1977 Stockton, California memorial auditorium. Rush-A farewell to Kings tour with UFO-Lights Out How cool is / was that right? as a kid in 1977 14 years old in 8th grade discovering the Power of Rock n roll ( thanks Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush too).. What I remember most about that night was Xanadu, As Xanadu began With Geddy manipulating powerful sounds never heard such power beating against my chest from the keyboards & double neck bass & the fog machine mist filling the air.. Neil raking his sticks across chimes and Alex sending out this tone great anthem announcement sounds from his doubleneck guitar.. as if to say... WE ARE RUSH ! IT JUST TAKES ME BACK EVERYTIME I SEE THEIR ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION DAY CELEBRATION! to 1977 Here we are 2023. Saying what Rush has been saying & playing for over half a century now.. with gratitude in my heart We are all RUSH... today I feel like a 60 year old kid.....Saying what Alex said....... lol... Blah Blah...blah blah blah bluuhh! bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh extra credits.. I remember Michael Schenker. Ripping up guitar solos of Rock Bottom that felt like a good hour long song! BEST MEMORIES TO ALL!
can't agree more, to every word ... including Michael Schenker's time with UFO. My heart still gets warm with his solo live on "Love to Love".
Rush is an example on how artists can touch others and change standards, when heart and mind lives for what is our humans potential with "Free Will" and even "Between the Wheels" we consume every day. on ❤Here Again
Alex's speech is just perfect for his kind of personality! Such legends 🙌
Rush's synergy is on another level. RIP Neil Peart
Everybody that was inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame rush, heart, just to name a few all legends of Rock and roll thank you for all the years of bringing us all the iconic sounds of rock. Long live rock and roll. RIP Neal Peart, Taylor Hawkins,Chris Cornell,. God Bless
I have heard every song. 40 years in my life pass. How can Rush still give me goosebumps?
This was definitely a night to remember, was in the nosebleeds that night. absolutely will never forget it, coolest show I think I'll ever witness.
Who's the black dude jamming on guitar? A relative of Albert King?
That is awesome. You were present at one of the greatest times in music history.
@@JokersWild70Gary Clark Jr.
I'm here from Buffalo NY just a two minute ride across the peace bridge from their home country. I've seen the hip, b. N. L. Lover boy, and why I never saw rush live is just one regret I will live with.
How come i never see that ? Mix emotions, seeing Neil, Taylor and Chris on the stage ...my all time drums heros and vocalist gone, 😢
First of all, RIP Neil :(. Secondly, the ONLY band I saw live 5 times!! And NEVER did they disappoint! Each and every one of them were so full of talent and truly truly true to themselves. AND love they truly loved each other!! I will forever love RUSH!!
Ur lying
@@Steve-cu1ye kind of a strange thing to say
Rush was the first concert I ever went to when I was 13 in 1988! Favorite band of all time! Forever a fan!
I love the little skit at the end. They deserved the induction so much. RIP Neil Peart.
it was from the movie i love you man!
The finale at the end.... Holy Crap..... Ann and Nancy, Foo Fighters, Run DMC, Rush, who else am I missing? just..... wow.....
Greatest R&R HOF acceptance speech EVER!!!!!
"dude, Rush is the greatest band of all time", truer words have never been spoken!
Rock n Roll Hall of Fame? They need their own museum.
i stumbled across rush in the bargain basement bin in the heavy metal shop in australia, they are unheard of here, i bought all there albums after that !!!
Best. Induction. Speech. Ever.
Never seen a band as in sync with each other. Truly three people gelling into one. VERY hard to do! And that’s only one thing that made them great!
Such a heartwarming speech from Alex towards his lawyer Bob Loblaw
Rush- one of the best RnRHoF performances yet.
And, rock on Ann and Nancy!
Had to watch this after reading Geddy Lee’s book. Helps to understand Alex’s “blah…”. These guys are my favorite rock band of all (followed by Zeppelin and Floyd)
In november of 2002 ... são paulo.. very good
OMG, my #1 rock band in the entire rock n roll history, in the world!!!!!!! The best band ever respectfully submitted your biggest fan, David Joseph Garcia xoxo forever and ever rock n roll lives forever!!!!!!!+
Wow, how this has become a video thatll tug at your heart strings

WOW Amazing
A real treat for me
Neil
Peart past present future greatest percussionist of all time
RIP Neil
Thank You Rush
Love you guys
Best ever induction rock and roll hall of fame ever
I’m blown away
Funny thing is Alex' speech is the only one i can recite word for word without thinking about it one bit.
It was brilliant. He took us through all the hard work being Rush and what it was like to finally get that call to be inducted.
"Fan base only rivaled by the Grateful Dead."
And in some cases, intertwined with the Dead's fan base.
Neil: eloquent and thoughtful, Geddy: appreciative and proud, Alex: …..🤣🤣🤣 wtf?!
CLASSIC! Fly Alex Fly!!
Never heard Rush until now. They was that deal!
Taylor Hawkins being SO excited FOR THEM is just...such a wonderful tribute to the guy he is. I won't ever say was. He IS that awesome, that will never end. That kind of positive spirit doesn't stop.
Excited? Yes. Tweaking? Yeah, that too.
He is a legend
@@dwightstorie1242 Yes. To mere us, he is.😉🇦🇺
This must be the 8th time I see this video, and it doesn't get old.
The Alex Lifeson part of the acceptance speech will never grow old. Superb
Still one of the BEST Rock and Roll inductions. Hearing the eruption of the audience when it was first announced...gets me everytime...every single time! These guys are a model for other rock bands to follow but they will never come close to the Trio. For as large as they are...they never forgot their roots and stayed humble. RUSH ON!
Dave should be given the award just for his speech.
Dave should be all-time inductor for all bands.
Saw them 3 times. Havent been to a concert since. Nothing will ever compare.
Anytime I'm feeling down and want a pick-me-up, I watch some aspect of Rush's induction into the RRHOF. A magnificient acknowledgement of a band that did it "the RIGHT way", no matter how long it took the squares to realize it.
