      Yeap, to those who don't know what he was saying, it was a re-enactment of how Rush, through Lifeson's blah blah blah linguistics, after being a successful band for many years and snubbed by the RS HOF for being too nerdy and too clean and too sci-fi and too smart and too whatever..., and regardless of how many Gold and Platinum achievements, finally gets the call to be inducted....And therefore this blah blah blah speech is a way of Lifeson saying F' YOU at the powers that be, because there is no way in HELL he was going to thank the RS HOF NOW.
      RIP NEIL.

    • @Mmmyess
      @Mmmyess 4 года назад +10

      @Luke Robinett I understand how you feel because I felt the same way when I first saw it. But I've watched it a few times, and I've watched a bunch of other inductions and awards ceremonies...Kennedy Center honors, Oscars, etc...and let's face it, everybody says pretty much the same thing. The people who take the opportunity to talk about anything important in the bigger picture (e.g., climate change, war, child abuse...you name it) get criticized for not sticking to the script. So Alex basically served up the standard speech. Try watching it and figuring out what he's saying. For example, starting around 14:36, he describes getting the phone call about being inducted into the R&R hall of fame, dressing up, having a list of people to thank. And so on... It's creative and fun when you give it a whirl...and I hope you do! Cheers!

I’d say a huge highlight of concerts was seeing Rush. I’m guessing 12 years ago on tax day , April 15 in Orlando. Hearing the song ghost of a chance for the first time ever , I mean ever , I was blown away. That song is one of my favorites of all time, but to hear it for the first time was a special treat. Rush was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. God bless his band. This was by far 1 of the best documentaries on a band I’ve Ever seen. Until now (November 2022) I haven’t seen material and the members from the EARLY years. Thank you for letting me comment.

    Hands down, the most talented person to ever pick up the sticks. Goosebumps, and tears to see and hear all the respectful tributes from other exceptional drummers that Mr Peart had inspired.
    He will be dearly missed but his intricate and thunderous playing will live on through radio play and through the fans like myself.
    Sincerest thanks Neil.

    Grew up with Rush they were there through my teens, 20's, 30's, 40's. I was 50 when I saw them for the last time in concert their anniversary tour. Neil passed away on my birthday, he was a brilliant man, a traveler, a poet/lyricist, and a great writer. His book Ghost Rider I read years ago if anyone gets a chance read it, you will then know the great man behind the drums, who Neil referred himself to as "just a man who hits things with sticks". These men will always be a part of me the soundtrack of my youth, thank you and bless you, Neil Peart, You left your mark of greatness with us..

    You never know what will be the soundtrack of you most cherished moments of your life. Rush’s music was the soundtrack of my teen years, learning to play the drum kit amidst the thundering chops of the professor frustrated me and inspired me as I was pushed to emulate greatness. Song after song hour after hour until my mother would flash the hallway light for me to cease my relentless assault on my exhausted drum kit. Neil taught me with his voice to learn to speak with mine. For years to come I would use my own musical voice to calm my heart in pain, build passion to love my family and the greatest gift of all to feed my family in times when music would become my second job. The gift lead me to my ultimate calling the worship of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior . Thank you Neil, Geddy, and Alex for being pure to your Art that will live for decades to come “ The Music of Rush”

    RUSH is THE PERFECT EXAMPLE of the fluidity of MASTERING TIME SIGNATURES! I play drums and there are a few things that you need to know about Neil Peart’s ( pronounced PEER-T) character: First he writes the lyrics so he knows in advance what TYPE of song it’s meant to be ie ballad, driver, etc. Second he COMPOSES on the drums… like a carpenter who looks at a set of blueprints before building the object. Neil lays out a SKETCH in his mind of the VOICES of the drumset and builds the song from there. He is also a great LISTENER knowing when NOT to step over Geddy’s singing or Alex’s solos! Finally, he had perfect timing and fluidity of time changes. He said himself that it’s not about COUNTING the time signatures as much as fluid motion to change the tempo without counting: in other words it should FLOW! He hates repeating the same drum patterns in the same song meaning if he plays a fill one way the first time around he will play it differently the second time around. IE. Rolls down the toms the first time around and triplets or quads (all four limbs) the second time around. In short there will NEVER be another like him on planet earth 🌍 🌏 🌎! REST IN PEACE PROFESSOR!
    With heart felt admiration and sincerity!
    Gary

    The coolest thing even when the news is sad is that Rush lives in the hearts of those of us who know what great music is, forever. My generation was the first to be exposed. My son's quickly jumped on board when they heard Rush's magic. And his children will receive his musical talent and carry the torch forward after we're all gone. Rush lives. Forever.

    I first saw Rush open for KISS ! 1974. Seattle Paramount. Neil had only been in the band for a few months.
    Then met them at a small record store in Tacoma in '76 (they played a horrible Bicentennial Pavilion which was just a floor with no seats). Made Alex laugh, and always got to go backstage since. Miss them !
