    Hi mate great video really informative any chance you know what the black box is that is in front of the air filter housing as in towards the front of the car I’ve recently bought a petrol 1.6 version and have this part missing from the engine bay but unsure what it is

    • @autoknight747
      @autoknight747  4 месяца назад

      That’s part of the air intake system (you can see the point of air entry just in front of it in the grey plastic housing for the grille). Not sure if/how the petrol engine differs here.

    Hi. Did you clean out oil from its housing, e.g. cloth, paper towel or brake cleaner and did you fill/add the housing with new oil ? I see old oil was drained.
    Thanks

    • @autoknight747
      @autoknight747  4 месяца назад

      I just use the Pela pump to drain the excess that pools at the base. I didn’t refill with fresh oil as most would only drain back to the sump anyway.

      These usually start just fine as there is still a considerable amount of diesel in the filter bowl.

      I used Carista. You can get the Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the diagnostic port for about £35 and the app has a range of payment options. Great for reading fault codes and various coding and configuring on Volkswagen group cars - I’ll be making a video on it soon.

      @Auto Knight sorry I am not very good in terms of understanding these things. I assume it will be alot better than my 1.9 tdi.

      @Auto Knight I have been driving this audi since late 2016. Last year I had a serious oil leak which was coming out from the brake pump. That was my guess. I took it to this mechanic who proved to be sort of a cowboy, and his diagnosis was that the oil was leaking from camshaft washer which is inside the gearbox
      Well I thought when he is going to open the gearbox I might as well get the new put in too. In the end, he found out the oil was leaking from the brake pump side therfore he put new washers in the brake pump as well as the new clutch. It also had a problem with the thermostat as the vehicle failed to warm up. That was also changed. Last year I almost spend a 1000 pounds on it as I thought the new vehicle would cost me alot of money therefore I might as well get this fixed. Since the clutch change the clutch pedal still seems a little spongy and get sticks halfway sometimes and I have to pull it up with with my left toe. I am seeing some videos on RUclips. I am sure there is air in the clutch system. apart from this to be honest this audi engine seems great. I haven't changed the battery or glow plugs in the last six years. It starts first time whether its summer or winter. I just serviced it today.

    Incorrect air filter for UK climate , the correct one has a filter foam underneath it

    • @autoknight747
      @autoknight747  29 дней назад

      @@kenrossaukrsa Not sure how the UK climate differs from much of the rest of northern mainland Europe, it’s fairly temperate here. I can’t see how the absence of the foam layer, which is for intake noise suppression on diesels, would make much difference. Been fitting filters from various reputable German brands, some with and some without that, since the 90s!

      @@autoknight747 it’s much wetter in the UK, the material sponge af the bottom assists with it somehow , I just bought it last week, it was £3 more than the standard hot/dry climate one , even my A1 had a foam blanket around its airfilter .
