Yea I know people are offput by the cost compared to the GT3 RS, but I think its because we're thinking about the Mustang as the underdog when I think the conversation really should be more about how Porsche is going to be an overachiever (as they always have been) with a more compromised car than the mustang... that's pretty much how you have to justify the Porsche being a better value. I cant get how people who are making surface level assessments of both cars, look at Multimatic basically turn a mustang GT3 race car into a road/track car, and then say the porsche is more "race car". even as extreme of a car as the GT3 RS is, I still think the mustang will be more racecar, even for the price... I mean without going to deep into it, fords made a big deal out of the transaxle setup for a good reason; the GTD is now categorically a front-mid engine car. and its not just that you can boast about a 50/50 weight distribution, but that the weight is likely more inboard than any of the road going Porsches (I probably dont have to tell you why thats a good thing). If you couldn't tell by now, transaxle cars are cool as hell and I think makes the ford every bit as exotic as the Porsche. Also, considering that the GTD is largely based on the GT3 car (and by extension depend on Multimatic's engineering & manufacturing expertise); the chassis is likely to be every bit as stiff and light as the Porsche, with suspension that's just as sophisticated... fun fact: Red bull's success with the 2022 regs is largely thanks to the chassis/platform control owing to Multimatic's DSSV semi active damper technology, not too dissimilar to that that found in the mustang. And of coarse one could say the engineering might of Stuttgart have to a large extent turn those compromises into strengths, but it does leave you thinking that they aren't starting on the same foot. With it being a lighter and more powerful car, I wouldn't be surprised if the GTD took the production record from the GT2 RS MR (not really counting the Merc P1 since they really havent started production) and if it does, that would actually make it a bargain with gt2s still being well into 300k and some even going for close to 500k with the MR kit. but If its just by the numbers (something that I still think Porsche cares about), I think the mustang might just about have the GT3 RS beat (the mustang is slightly more powerful, lighter etc)... Looks like they learned a little from the time they owned Jaguar, that whole rear end with the axle (not transaxle like this work of art) and suspension (except brakes like the XJS) are all in one bolt on unit. Probably not even close considering that was the late 60s when the Jag started designing the XJ but the idea looks to be there and it does visually resemble the old Jagz which for its time, not counting the electrical gremlins everywhere especially the v12, was a pretty darn impressive car. I love em all, Euros AND Muricans.
Well it’s an absolute beast, BUT it’s a Mustang so kind of ridiculous how crazy they got with it and especially the price! These cars will be collected not driven like they were designed…shame really!

@jathaawk101 - It's a very limited production vehicle - 1,000 to 2,000 total planned, and you MAY be able to attain one, but you will need more than money to be cleared to purchase. It is sold through Ford Corporate out of Detroit and does not go through dealers, so Ford controls the price. Even when the have a foreign company make the car (Colt) for them it doesn't work. The Viper was heralded as the next Cobra. Sadly for Chrysler, it never even approached the successes the Cobra enjoyed. Their last ditch effort to make the car a winner involved extensive work by an outside firm ACR. Even those upgrades weren't enough to sustain the Viper and it was terminated in 2017. Chrysler Corp. is the only American company to be rescued from (2) separate bankruptcy filings. Mercedes purchased them in 1998, then sold them less than 10 years later for a $29 billion loss. It's like they are begging to go out of business but no one will let them!

You have the need to read Dude! It's essentially the same as the Mustang GT3, full spec racer designed to go after the Mercedes Black Series, Porsche 911 GT3 and Aston Martin in FIA road racing, including the WER Championship and Le Mans 24 hrs. This GTD is the street legal version of the GT3 racer.
If it was GT3RS battle ready, we would see some lap times vs a GT3RS ? I have a ZL1/1LE mods, I'm not in GT3RS territory, but neither is a C8 Z06 or this GTD.
in what way is the GTD not in the gt3rs company? its lighter, more powerful; more based on the gt3 mustang than the gt3 rs is based on the GT3.R (meaning its perhaps a stiffer chassis); has suspension setup no less sophisticated than the gt3rs, is front mid layout compared to the compromised rear engine layout of the gt3 rs... shall I go on? like I get that Porsche is often seen as overachievers and giant killers (even thou they themselves are giants), but Porsche's horsepower isnt better than anyone else's, especially when you have 200 more. and I get it, everyone is speculating, but if youre speculating atleast make sure that the facts on paper is on your side first.
@@stephen2282 Here is something that isn't speculation. Even the GT500 matched a GT3RS on a specific track. This new GTD will simply walk away from a GT3RS on any strait. The GT3RS better hope this Ford can't corner but I wouldn't bet against it.
With all that carbon fiber I'll bet it still weighs more than two tons. On a drag strip or track car weight with only 800 hp counts as much as suspension putting the power to the ground. If it weighs more than 3,000 lbs, which makes the suspension over rated unless you double the horse power, then maybe it could obtain the track/street worthy advertised instead of yuppie ready for the kids born with silver spoons in their mouths. Why do you think Carroll Shelby put Ford's 500 hp racing engines in the 1960's Cobra's light weight modified chassis ? Maybe it is only worth half the price asked for, or maybe buy a modern Ford GT at half the price and half the weight. We automatically know this car is a heavy weight, which Ford forgot about since building the Fox Mustang lineup. Weight kills acceleration at the drag strip or road track !
Weight kills a track car not just in acceleration. It is much more than that. It wears the tires and brakes down faster. You get more body roll in corners. You also have to brake earlier before a turn as well. The engine will also use more gas. Weight is the killer of a good track car. ( This is a very interesting car for sure. I have my doubts about it. I think it will get overshadowed by the C8 ZR1. Just like the base C8 did to the Supra.)
What? Well, Ford is claiming sub seven minute time at the Ring. They didn't use all that Carbon fiber for nothing. I'll bet Weight was carefully considered on the GTD. I don't think it's anywhere near two tons.
@@richardmodglin3900that’s what I was thinking, above poster said 2 tons, hell, my regular GT weighs around 3,700 lbs. and the GTD has carbon fiber everywhere, tube chassis, a more stripped down interior…. I’d be shocked if it weighs more than 2,800 lbs.
Y'all ridiculous, the car is being made by multimatic. They took everything into consideration including weight. It's probably not going to be super light, like the ford GT or whatever. It's still a Mustang body underneath. But they are shooting for a sub 7 minute run at the Nürburgring. Current Mustangs aren't slow either lol, they compete well.
It really was a joint project between Ford and their racing sub contractor, Multimatic in Toronto, Canada, same company that built the 3rd gen. Ford GT that won Le Mans in 2016, exactly 50 years after their first win!

As far as speed Is concerned, you can buy an EV that will blow most cars off the road in 0-60 times and you don't have to rely on overpriced gas that OPEC+ controls oil production and pricing so we are all held hostage to THE oil/gas companies. At least there are alternatives.

Is this a production vehicle and if it is when will it go on sale to the public but if it is not a production vehicle and it is a concept why are you showing us something we can not attain.
You have to complete an application for Ford's review and if you make it past that, you are interviewed one on one. If you past that muster then you can purchase one and Ford will deliver your car to your home.

@@jathawk101 - You have made some good points! My concern is I have known the Chrysler history for 65 years and they just can't seem to get things right in the long run.

@@stephen2282
Here is something that isn't speculation.
@@richardmodglin3900 Where did you see this claim?
Y'all ridiculous, the car is being made by multimatic. They took everything into consideration including weight. It's probably not going to be super light, like the ford GT or whatever.
