      @coleman;
      @0:50; …“theft of intellectual property”…
I thought that’s a part of capitalism, from manufacturing to copying to theft of technologies. We did it to the Europeans, most evidentiary was Ford on the assembly line technics.
And they did it to the Chinese way back when. There, the queen called the tea tree planting techniques were “spirited over” and silkworms farming was “shared over”.
And to this date, intellectual property theft legal cases of this part of capitalism are still accumulating…
Is Chinese doing it a “thing”?

      COOLIE PRIDE
Coolie pride is the Asian version of the Stockholm syndrome. It is voiced in the various forms of “China-hating”, from criticizing China’s diplomacy, being anti-China pro-capitalistic liberal democracy to fiercely anti-Japan. In short, it advocates the “traitors’ rights”.
Wang Gungwu(1st video clip below) is a major spokesperson on it. He’s strategy is, by defending the legitimacy of China, he righteously claim the contributions and successes of Asia’s Southeast Chinese who struggled valiantly against their former Western colonists, but conveniently omitted the assistance obtained from the West and profiting at the expenses of the Chinese communists right after WWII. These Southeasterners are deep down pro-China but still anti-Japan.
However, there is another group of Chinese, whose ancestors once fought along side the Western Allies as America’s proxy in WWII, who typically by hiding behind their pro-Mao stance, are now sworn enemies of Japan, China and Asia. Their openly hostile attitude toward Japan is perpetuating the West’s effort in dividing and conquering Asia, causing any effort to toward a full and final liberation of Asia from American dominance impossible.
The video clips 2&3 clearly illustrates how the pro-west group has capitalized on the Asians’ “coolie pride”. The former Hongkong top leader in clip 3 actually called for “traitor dignity”.

That 1 mil Uighurs incarcerated is a nonsensical figure. It is widely quoted but no one seems sure where it comes from. Adrian Zenz, an anti China anti communist crusader who has never visited China is credited with that number and journalists quote it as a matter of fact. Adrian Zenz, who uses some official Chinese statistics on falling Uighur births as the basis of concluding there is an ongoing genocide fails to notice that Han Chinese as well as other minority Chinese ethnic groups experience far greater falls in birth rates and also that falling birth rates are a natural social phenomenon as female labor force participation rates rise, the cost of child bearing rise.

It has been verified. It is, of course, an estimate as the society is very opaque in the unaccountable dictatorship (making playspace for radical chic denialists and ostentatiously rebellious teenagers) but the U.N. and international human rights organizations have methods of uncovering at least approximate truths, even in such regimes.. It was guessed to be as high as perhaps three million before, the conservative figure is one million.
The Uyghurs are certainly being forcibly used for China's very lucrative organ harvest and transplant industry as there are not enough judicial executions in China (that executes more than all the rest of the world combined with 47 crimes warranting the death penalty in China, 44 of them non violent, judicial outcomes - verdicts and sentences - decided in advance of trials by higher ranking ruling party officials for political - or, in this case, financial - purposes yielding a 99% conviction rate in all criminal trials) and the previously mass interned (some 20-25 years ago) Falun Gong having now aged past the ideal age for organ harvest of 27 years, and they are, of course, being used for the Chinese government's other very lucrative industry, slave labor to produce cheap, consumer goods for Walmart and other cut rate, U.S. retailers..

Don't think so take a look at how hard status quo governments go after outsiders. You can see it plain as day with what they are doing to Trump. The commies use these tactics too The problem with the US is that we have drifted to far from what was laid out in our Constitution. We have given to much control to un-elected bureaucrats who write the laws that protect their grift and abuse of power. China doesn't have that problem because the mob runs the country and dissenters are silenced before they can create movement. That's the difference between the two countries folks need to read Chinese history and understand in Asian Cultures saving face is everything and honor among thieves which most socialists are is tantamount to religion.

Keyu Jin is way too nice. Coleman's views were like mine growing up in America, believing all that anti-China kool aid. Here are some hard to swallow pills for western educated people:
    1) The western world got rich not through democracy, but through colonialism. It was only after WWII that FDR tried to convince America's allies (UK & France) to let go of their colonies, but even they had a hard time doing so. France still tried to keep their Indochina (Vietnam) colony into the 1950s. America gave up the Philippines, but still kept Hawaii as a colony. But the western world didn't really give up their power. America, the sole survivor of WWII, implemented their US rules based world order, but it's really just US shadow empire building by using NGOs to find disaffected minorities in countries whose governments did not bend the knee to the US world order, and armed them to fight against their central government. So it's just shadow colonialism, but with extra steps.
    2) Coleman believes the western political system is superior in both human rights and economic development. I used to think that way too. But why does America have the highest per capita prison inmates in the entire world? He says there's no comparison to what China is doing: locking up a million Uyghurs to Black Americans in prison. He's right: because what China was doing was a counter terrorism strategy. The 1 million Uyghurs is a made up number from western sources that were based on a handful of interviews. We don't know what the actual number of locked up extremists were, but according to AP News, most of the Uyghurs had already been released since 2021:
*Source: AP News: Terror & tourism: Xinjiang eases its grip, but fear remains (2021) - Google it.*
Now let's look at America's response to terrorism: 1 million Iraqis and Afghanis dead. That is the real comparison.
Do the Uyghurs deserve better? Absolutely. And that is why the average Uyghur in Xinjiang is 3 times richer than the average Vietnamese. Can't say the same about the native Hawaiians that have been slowly genocided away under the US system.
    3) Forced Technology Transfer: Another great talking point by US politicians. Except nothing is being "forced". US corporations willingly share a lot of their tech (Not all) with Chinese partner companies to make a profit in the China market. So far, US corporations are making money hand over fist in China. In fact, your 401k depends on China doing well. That's how much money your investments are making. If China does well, your retirement will do well.
America also can't make anything anymore. This is not an exaggeration. US corporations have off shored, and will continue to off shore all manufacturing jobs out of America. If not to China, then to Mexico, to India, to Vietnam, etc.
The NSA have also planted too many backdoors in Cisco routers around the world in the early 2000s. China learned from and also used similar NSA tools to enter US corporate networks.
However, even with all this supposed corporate espionage, China could never compete with western established tech such as internal combustion automobiles. Japan and South Korea dominated that industry, China had no chance. But China did catch a break with EVs, that's why they're throwing the kitchen sink at new emergent tech, and just leapfrogging established tech like ICE vehicles.
Huawei's 5G is another great example. China couldn't compete with established western 4G networks, so they just decided to leapfrog them instead. They had to do something what westerners didn't think China could: innovate.
The west has a superiority complex though, they'll never admit China could innovate anything without their help.
    4) Human Rights: You want to improve human rights? First, get rid of mass poverty. And that's exactly what China did: lifting 800 million Chinese out of extreme poverty through strong government support and economic backing.
But what about freedom of speech? Coleman said you can say Let's Go Brandon, and still be free. Except not. Try taking a knee during the national anthem, you'll be canceled by the public. Lose your job. Lose your source of income. How is that freedom? Where are your protections from not losing your job? There is none. The only freedom the US government grants you is to be left alone, even if that means declaring bankruptcy. You're free to be bankrupt I guess.
And that's an important point: When people talk about freedom, they usually always mean economic freedom: I want freedom to do the things I want to do in life. And that freedom, those opportunities, are less and less possible in America.
But what about China? Wouldn't you get locked up? Actually, no. China has hundreds of protests all around the country. Remember the blank paper protests during the Covid Lockdowns? When hundreds of Chinese defied authorities by raising blank white pieces of paper? Literally a week later, China removed the lockdowns.
What about Tiananmen Square in 1989? Didn't they send in the tanks? Yes, after mass rioting and violence broke out. And also that's exactly why Deng, the leader of China, lost his job. The leadership immediately replaced him with Jiang Zemin, who handled the Shanghai protests peacefully. But western media never mentions that, and pretends nothing has changed within the party. Again, western media always lies by omission. Today, you could even argue that the vast majority of the Chinese people have won because of all the changes that had happened in the past.
    5) Hong Kong and Taiwan: The west keeps saying they lost Hong Kong because people couldn't protest there anymore. Except they weren't protesting, they were rioting. They said China locked Hong Kong down, except the killer still roams free in Hong Kong (The guy who killed his girlfriend in Taiwan and started this whole mess) because the city still doesn't have an extradition law in place with Taiwan, proving the 1 Country 2 Systems policy is still in place.
Taiwan invasion: What Xi actually said was he will only use military force if a foreign power (The United States) tries to intervene. America has more to lose than China if Taiwan goes back. China would have TSMC and the 1st island chain. This is why America keeps pushing for some kind of conflict or war with China to happen in 2025. China has time on its side, it can wait as long as it needs to. America is the one that's running out of time.
    6) Housing:
Fact: US Homeownership rate: 66%. China Homeownership rate: 90%. America's the one with the housing crisis. The stories about China's "Ghost Cities" are often cherry picked for an anti-China narrative.
In conclusion: The west fears China because it thinks it's a dictatorship, when in reality China bends to the will of its people. Go visit China. Try to live there for a year if possible. It's nothing like what the western media tries to portray it as. In America, you can change the leadership, but you can't change the policies. In China, you can't change the leadership, but you can change the policies. Hope that helps.

And your guest is being very nice in answering the questions the best she could without being too harsh. I just wanna comment on one topic u brought up even i do have a few i wanna answer in a way thats not as nice as Ms. Jin. In the arguement if china is the aggressor, thats really idiotic. The US has more than 100 military bases surrounding china and china has none anywhere close to the US mainland. For the record, the last time any country came close to doing it was USSR and Kennedy shut it down. Now imagine china is doing what the US is doing in the south china sea, lets just say off the coast of california, what u think the US is gonna do?! No, u dont have to answer that cuz we all know the answer. So this is exactly like do as i said not as i do kinda total BS! U simply looking at china from the western hegemony lens, and it is distorted. The US fought many wars the last 30 years and china fought none! It is time to put things in perspective and call the US what it is! The US is a imperial hegemon that is collasping and trying everything she can to mainatain the statue!

Certainly, America has a history of being brash and self-absorbed, however I fail to see why it should DEFER to older, more established civilisations - just because they are older.
Both China and India once had enormous power, wealth and influence, then lost them, and are now in the process of regaining them.
Both have huge moral/ethical shortcomings to address - which they are doing (slowly), impervious to outside pressure.

Regarding the “slow motion suicide”, if this continues (ie. if our life expectancy continues to trend downward for the next five or more years?) then America will have to do some serious soul-searching, on top of all the other soul-searching surrounding the big questions/problems we face, such as inflation, rising food costs, and ridiculously high rent prices across the nation.

The Russians killed so many Chinese and took away a piece of land that is equivalent to 45 times the size of Taiwan, yet the Chinese keep quiet. Why must you forgive the Russian and treat Putin like your master? Beside supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine that resulted many deaths, the Chinese still expect the Ukraine to give up their land. Are the Chinese mentally sick or what? How about the spreading of Covid 19 that led to 7 million people died worldwide? Japan had changed, it is a model country your country should learn from.

Everything is in terms of dynasty, and the heavy hand of the Hans. Out of those 4000 years she speaks of, China makes up 800 years total and only after bloody wars not unlike China in the first half of last century when another dynasty appeared, the communists. Another characteristic is power from the top down. Their economic ‘miracle’ consisted of western know how that they either got legitimately or theft. Taiwan is not China, with the exception of Chinese nationalists who escaped to the island. As far as social programs, the Chinese worker is on his own. And their ability to innovate is propaganda. As far as the Opium War. Most people only se the Chinese side with no further enquiry. And their new leader, like virtually all previous leaders is an autocratic dictator. And demographically speaking, their are half as many 5 year olds as 10 year olds. China has a long history of one dynasty after another, violently gaining empire before disintegrating into chaos. Within the ten years China again will disintegrate. A nasty tradition of conquest, consolidation and disintegration. It’s the Chinese way.

Great interview. Some quick points to add to this discussion.
    1) According to most social historians such as Peter Turchin author of End Times. Most cultures have a what he calls genetic tendency that is given to them by their ancestors due to unique historical or cultural traditions. In the case of China, she has reverted back to a 2500 yrs tradition of meritocratic mandarin bureaucracy. New members to CPC are selected only from college grads and only after they have passed what is essentially a high level IQ test. Every member of the current Politburo have advanced degrees including Xi who has a degree in Chemical Engineering. Many historians also states that the CPC should be called the Confucius Party of China instead of the Communist Party of China.
    2) Xinjing. Historically for 2000 years it is a mixed diverse area. Populated by Hans, Uyghurs, Kazaks, Uzbeks, Mongols, Tartars. In Xinjing unlike here in the states, all school lessons are taught in local language and mandarin Chinese. All signs are in 3 languages, Uyghurs, Chinese and English. The whole 1 million jailed figure has been thoroughly proven false. That figure was put forward by the a group funded by CIA and extrapolated from interviewing 8, yes 8 individuals. In the age of satellites, no evidence of ppl being bused in, prisoners in yards, or any other evidence presented. 2nd person to push this idea is Adrian Zenz, a self proclaimed born again Christian who states God gave him a mission to destroy Communist China. In the last 30 yrs, Uyghur population has doubled compared to Han. This must be the first genocide where the victim numbers are actually increasing. And, this is the only genocide where the region actively advertise for tourism around the world. Where you can travel freely and go sight seeing.
    3) Tibet. The tibetan ppl and Han Chinese has had close, interlapping relations since the very beginning. The 2 languages are related, called the Sino Tibetan languages. In dynastic times, there has been numerous intermarriages of royalties. Most recently Tibet came under China's rule in the late 1600's when the ruling elite in Tibet requested Qing China's help in repelling mongol invasion. Since then Tibet became an autonomous region of Qing Dynasty. After the Chinese civil war, Mao reasserted this old relationship. But instead under India and USA influence the ruling lamas instigated an armed rebellion. This was why Mao sent in troops. All this you can find via google search. In recent times, Tibet has enjoyed amazing economic development curtesy of the central government. GDP is exploding, quality of life sky rocketing, modern infrastructure everywhere. Not to mention that under the religious Lamas, most Tibetans were living as slaves/serfs.

Well said. Adding some points to your points above:
      1. To be able to get qualified as one of the top leaders, one needs to climb from below and prove that he’s capable. For example, one needs to be able to lead one of the biggest cities in the province well, to be qualified for a provincial leader. Same goes to the president and the 8 senior members. They need to demonstrate their capabilities and experience by successfully leading a big province with population more than 100 million. Plus, no one can be promoted in his home province, to avoid potential corruptions and abuse of the power due to deep rooted network one might have in his/her home province.
      2. Xinjiang. In fact minorities in china have more perks than Han, so Han people always joke that they are at the bottom of the society. Minorities used to NOT NEED to learn mandarin, and they can opt to have classes and exams in their own language. I personally know minorities who took university entrance exams in their own languages, although some of them can speak perfect mandarin. This old policy introduced many problems, as most of the best universities in china teach in mandarin, these minority kids aren’t able to learn as much due to language barriers. Mandarin at this stage becomes mandatory and they do get mandarin classes, but we all know that it’s way easier to learn languages when you are younger. Also, as china’s economy picked up , technology advancement, and infrastructure improvement, the whole country has become more connected. With Tao bao(Chinese Amazon) and other online tools, people can directly sell their stuff to anywhere. The language barrier became a major blocker for minorities to be integrated into this economy model, and many of them had to learn at much older age so that they can set up their shops and communicate with their customers. Hence, china changed the policy and made mandarin mandatory, while keep their native languages. So now the classes are taught in either language, depending on the subject. China never banned any native language.
      3. Tibet. Right before Dalaï and the slave owners were about to reach an agreement with Chinese government, cia approached to them and convinced them to flee. That’s when the “Tibet oppression “ lie began. They failed to tell everyone that these people are slave owners and are cruel to their people. Also, Back in the days , Tibet didn’t have any modern amenities, no electricity , no nothing. No schooling no science. Slave owners own slaves and their children and grandchildren. They can do anything to the slaves. There are lamps made out of human skin, soccer balls made out of human skull, and decorations made out of kids’ femur bones. CIA also orchestrated a so called riot, by giving the Tibetan people dalai’s pee. Yes you heard it right. Dalaï told the people that his piss can make people live forever and cure their illness, some bullshit like that, so cia was giving people pee in exchange of rioting for dalaï. If it’s really dalai’s pee or those agents own pee, who knows, one would never be able to figure it out. Anyways, most of the tibetans were extremely grateful that they are not someone’s slaves anymore, they are their own men, with their own properties and lands. There are still tibetans who have chairman mao’s portrait up on their walls, although it’s something Han people stopped doing decades ago.
Nowadays, the local officials and teachers are still investing lots of time and efforts convincing the parents to send their kids to school, so that they can learn science and stuff, and will never be fooled like that anymore. Some Tibetan parents don’t see the importance of education, and with booming tourism, they think their kids can already make lots of money, hence the effort said earlier from officials.

I have given this simple example out many times, maybe this may help many people to understand why China is different and has to be different. The US ( or Japan, or any of the Western country he cited ) is like a family with 1 or 2 kids and China is like a family with 12 or 15 kids. Under these 2 different scenarios you just cannot have the same system for both. It will just not work. The family with 10 kids need more discipline, more rules ,more parental interventions. On the other hand, in the smaller family, the kids can have more freedom, more say and probably will be more spoilt. If the 10 kids are given full freedom to decide, there will just be chaos in the house, constant fightings and what not.

This guy has no idea what he’s talking about. In reference to the prison, you do not have to commit a crime to be in prison. Their constant examples of innocent people being incarcerated. You don’t have any rights when you’re in prison realize what you might think that’s not the case you’re a complete control by whoever is running the facility. United States has the largest percent of people incarcerated compared to their population. Not only are they number one but if you added number 23 and five together, they still wouldn’t have as many people as of the percent of population incarcerated as United States does. The prison system is also a very big business, and as such needs to continue to stay near capacity. Has there ever been a year where incarcerations declined? How can you exclude gun violence, as being one of the things that might be attributed to the government style. One of the freedoms that is constantly being challenged and blamed is the right to bare arms which some claim is their right. He really should’ve took more time to do better research and be prepared for this conversation especially when he’s basically trying to be the other side. Not been able to listen to her and understand or acknowledge what she’s saying leads to the ultimate waste of time of this video. He who has probably never spent any time in China or seen any other things that he’s using to reference besides Western media. Western Media being his reference point has no real proof to claims. Main point she tries to make is that the US because of the misunderstandings, and assuming that all people should be like and think like Americans. That the US don’t understand what the Chinese priorities might be, what society tends to appreciate , views as important, and what their future objectives might be. The fact is that the United States based their system of democracy off of colonialism, and nothing has changed today, except for the media’s ability to tell the truth to its own population. When western media became owned by mega corporations, it became no longer credible, and no longer told the truth. Now everything is a narrative spun to make the public feels some kind of way to get support for whatever business they’re pushing this man is a prime example.

Third for the Chinese perspective on Human Rights, Coleman missed the issues. The proper comparison to PRC is India not Japan or South Korea. These two countries are small, single race, occupied by US hence enforcement of social stability with little cost.
The biggest cost of the freedom and individual human rights, including minority rights, is always the Low Government Efficiency and ability. US is a clear example and India is another one.
Even today with just 1/4 or US per capital GDP this low efficiency means life or death for hundreds of millions of people. So the comparison for Chinese citizens are the tens of thousands Americans die from drug abuse every year. The millions of Covid deaths. The danger of going out at night in big cities. The desperate situation of US poor with so much more resources etc.
In short if you are elites, meaning you can pick any country to live, you will live US and it’s freedom. But if you are the Chinese Poor, you do not want to be in India or even US.

Plus, I am extremely sad to see the suppresson of peaceful student protests in America, pleading for a ceasefire in Gaza on humanitarian considerations. Yet the whole movement is now framed as anti-semitism and an act promptly enacted to enpower law and enforcement to crackdown such protects. Almost everywhere around the Western world, the top 10% owns 90% of a country's wealth. Name any other country other than China that has been able to pull millions of people out of abject poverty in only less than 40 years? Just because many people have been pulled out of poverty still does not mean that the average person is at the middle-income level. Keyu Jin should be noted that the China from about 1978 to 2012 (Old China) and the China after 2012, under Xi Jinping (New China), are two different types of China with great differences. The China that the United States and other democratic countries advocate to be risk-free refers specifically to the New China. Similarly, the China that the West advocates as a threat also refers specifically to the New China. So obviously, Keyu Jin's use of Old China to prove that the New China's so-called understandable and acceptable claims is wrong and harmful, and is also unconvincing.

I saw the same facial expressions in Coleman that I often see in my own friends and family when I talk about China - Americans have a really hard time not being suspicious/ skeptical / negative towards China (even the word China sounds negative in English now). I don’t know what it will take to undo the brainwashing which I personally believe is rooted in racism. Nonetheless, good talk - we need people to get interested in China because the less people know the more likely they are to demonize. One of my greatest fears continues to be the US instigating a war with China so we can continue to rule the world. Americans need to wake up to how much of the world sees them - as an extremely aggressive country that exerts it’s influence via military force . The US has a history of destabilizing regions of the world, with the consequence of death and destruction that we rarely discuss . It would be great if we did another interview, but foreign nationals similarity questioned the US national interest / intentions / foreign policy. I want to see the facial expressions of humbled Americans - I don’t hate my country , I love it and want it to be better . I simply see us as the aggressors and it would be better if the US reduced its military presence around the world and let other countries live and develop freely.

You need to learn the Chinese language in order to undertand better the kind of game Beijing is doing for decades in relationship to the West: The truer, hostile PRC attitudes toward the West are always displayed in plain language in PRC media, including social media, in Chinese. What you get reading in English, unfortunately, are always filtered, and/or tuned down, or through Chinese or Western scholars who tend to view China more favorably than facts will support. In the case of Keyu Jin, she's intricably related to the ruling forces in China. And her views are very typical of those of the official PRC talking points, in particular in presenting China as the victim of foreign aggression. Her outdated view of history is typical of most PRC scholars, nothing new at all. And honestly speaking the timing of her book is also highly problematic. It seems to have designed to serve a political purpose to help out an embattled Beijing.

Thank you, Coleman, for the thoughtful conversation with Keyu Jin. It might be worthwhile to purchase her book.
I spent some time in China in the early 2010s working for a Chinese company in Shanghai. That was very educational to this American. I discovered how incredibly complex China actually is and came to understand, if only a little, what it means to be part of such an old culture. China is a country of contradictions as well as advantages, just like America though in distinctly Chinese ways. Like America, it is probably not the best idea to simplify China, especially in political speech, even if I am just like anyone else and understand the temptation to do so. China has strengths and weaknesses, charms and alarms, good and bad, pretty and ugly. The same can be said about America. It is nice to be reminded that neither China or America should be the first to cast stones while living in our respected glass houses. Yet, both f us have plenty to be proud of as well.
A Chinese colleague told me something her grandmother said to her, “Under Mao, it was like we were all living in Auschwitz. Now, we may have the worst of all possible governments [who doesn’t complain about their own governments], but for the first time in my life, I am happy.” Jin elucidates this sentiment quite well and is important in understanding the contemporary Chinese psyche.
I did see the results of corruption with my own eyes. Is Jin’s assertion that this corruption actually being addressed true? Maybe, maybe not. China is not the most transparent place in the world, with real truth sometimes wrapped in unfathomable obfuscation. I often wonder how the deep traditions of opacity hinder even good faith efforts to rule such a culture? One of the senior executives of the company I worked for once asked my opinion if China would ever change. Around me things seemed so optimistic and forward momentum so certain. I thought that China was destined to change, even if slowly. He shot back, sternly, that he felt China hasn’t changed much at all throughout its history so we should not expect real change anytime in the foreseeable future. He was so exasperated with how things were that he now lives in India with his family. Maybe this was just one man exasperated with his particular condition. Or, maybe he understood a bigger pulse of his own home. He didn’t imply anything particularly malevolent about China. He was just frustrated with the impossibility of doing the right thing in his own corner of the universe.

    Here's her positions:
The West misunderstands China's rise as a challenge to the existing international order.
China is not seeking to overthrow the current international order, but rather to reform it in ways that benefit its own interests.
The West should engage China in dialogue and cooperation, rather than viewing it as an adversary.
The West should focus on areas of common interest, such as climate change and economic cooperation.
The West should avoid making China feel like it is being encircled or threatened.
The West should be prepared to adapt to China's rise, but should not try to contain it.
The West should encourage China to become a more open and responsible stakeholder in the international system.
The West should support China's efforts to improve its human rights record.
The West should work with China to address global challenges, such as terrorism and nuclear proliferation.
The West should not expect China to become a liberal democracy overnight.
    Some counterpoints:
Misunderstanding China's Rise: Some argue that the West's apprehension about China's rise is not merely about misunderstanding but is based on China's assertive actions in the South China Sea, its military buildup, and its economic practices that are seen as unfair or predatory.
Reforming the International Order: While China may not want to overthrow the international order, its idea of "reform" might not align with Western values. For instance, China's stance on internet governance, which leans towards censorship and control, is at odds with the open internet principles cherished by many Western nations.
Engaging in Dialogue: While dialogue is essential, some believe that China often uses dialogue as a stalling tactic or to deflect from contentious issues, without making substantive changes.
Areas of Common Interest: While there are areas of common interest, there are also significant areas of divergence, such as human rights, trade practices, and territorial disputes. Focusing only on common interests might mean overlooking these significant differences.
Avoid Making China Feel Threatened: While it's essential to avoid unnecessary provocation, democracies also have a responsibility to uphold and advocate for their values, even if it makes authoritarian regimes feel threatened.
Adapting to China's Rise: While adaptation is necessary, there's a difference between adapting to a changing global landscape and compromising on core principles and security concerns.
Encouraging China's International Role: While China's increased role in international institutions can be beneficial, there's also a risk that China might reshape these institutions in ways that diminish democratic values.
Supporting Human Rights Efforts: While supporting China's efforts to improve its human rights record is commendable, there's skepticism about the sincerity of these efforts given the ongoing issues in Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong.
Addressing Global Challenges: Cooperation on global challenges is essential, but there's concern that China might use these collaborations as leverage in other, more contentious areas.
Expectation of Liberal Democracy: While it's true that no one should expect China to become a liberal democracy overnight, there's a difference between having no expectation and turning a blind eye to the suppression of democratic values and human rights.

I’m from Malaysia. China has traded with Malaysia for 2000 years. In those years, they had been the world’s biggest powers many times. Never once they sent troops to take our land. Admiral Zhenghe came to Malacca five times, in gigantic fleets, and a flagship eight times the size of Christopher Columbus’ flagship, Santa Maria. He could have seized Malacca easily, but he did not. In 1511, the Portuguese came. In 1642, the Dutch came. In the 18th century the British came. We were colonised by each, one after another.
When China wanted spices from India, they traded with the Indians. When they wanted gems, they traded with the Persian. They didn’t take lands. The only time China expanded beyond their current borders was in Yuan Dynasty, when Genghis and his descendants Ogedei Khan, Guyuk Khan & Kublai Khan conquered China, Mid Asia and Eastern Europe. But Yuan Dynasty, although being based in China, was a part of the Mongolian Empire.
Then came the Century of Humiliation. Britain smuggled opium into China to dope the population, a strategy to turn the trade deficit around, after the British could not find enough silver to pay the Qing Dynasty in their tea and porcelain trades. After the opium warehouses were burned down and ports were closed by the Chinese in ordered to curb opium, the British started the Opium War I, which China lost. Hong Kong was forced to be surrendered to the British in a peace talk (Nanjing Treaty). The British owned 90% of the opium market in China, during that time, Queen Victoria was the world’s biggest drug baron. The remaining 10% was owned by American merchants from Boston. Many of Boston’s institutions were built with profit from opium.
After 12 years of Nanjing Treaty, the West started getting really really greedy. The British wanted the Qing government:
      1. To open the borders of China to allow goods coming in and out freely, and tax free.
      2. Make opium legal in China.
Insane requests, Qing government said no. The British and French, with supports from the US and Russia from behind, started Opium War II with China, which again, China lost. The Anglo-French military raided the Summer Palace, and threatened to burn down the Imperial Palace, the Qing government was forced to pay with ports, free business zones, 300,000 kilograms of silver and Kowloon was taken. Since then, China’s resources flew out freely through these business zones and ports. In the subsequent amendment to the treaties, Chinese people were sold overseas to serve as labor.
In 1900, China suffered attacks by the 8-National Alliance(Japan, Russia, Britain, France, USA, Germany, Italy, Austria-Hungary). Innocent Chinese civilians in Peking (Beijing now) were murdered, buildings were destroyed & women were raped. The Imperial Palace was raided, and treasures ended up in museums like the British Museum in London and the Louvre in Paris.
In late 1930s China was occupied by the Japanese in WWII. Millions of Chinese died during the occupancy. 300,000 Chinese died in Nanjing Massacre alone.
Mao brought China together again from the shambles. There were peace and unity for some time.
Then came Deng Xiao Ping and his famous “black-cat and white-cat” story. His preference in pragmatism than ideologies has transformed China. This thinking allowed China to evolve all the time to adapt to the actual needs in the country, instead of rigidly bounded to ideologies.
The current Socialism+Meritocracy+Market Economy model fits the Chinese like gloves, and it propels the uprise of China. Singapore has a similar model, and has been arguably more successful than Hong Kong, because Hong Kong being gateway to China, was riding on the economic boom in China, while Singapore had no one to gain from.
In just 30 years, the CCP have moved 800 millions of people out from poverty. The rate of growth is unprecedented in human history. They have built the biggest mobile network, by far the biggest high speed rail network in the world, and they have become a behemoth in infrastructure. They made a fishing village called Shenzhen into the world’s second largest technological centre after the Silicon Valley. They are growing into a technological power house. It has the most elaborate e-commerce and cashless payment system in the world. They have launched exploration to Mars. The Chinese are living a good life and China has become one of the safest countries in the world. The level of patriotism in the country has reached an unprecedented height.
For all of the achievements, the West has nothing good to say about it. China suffers from intense anti-China propagandas from the West. Western Media used the keyword “Communist” to instil fear and hatred towards China. Everything China does is negatively reported.
They claimed China used slave labor in making iPhones. The truth was, Apple was the most profitable company in the world, it took most of the profit, leave some to Foxconn (a Taiwanese company) and little to the labor.
They claimed China was inhuman with one-child policy. At the same time, they accused China of polluting the earth with its huge population. The fact is the Chinese consume just 30% of energy per capita compared to the US.
They claimed China underwent ethnic cleansing in Xinjiang. The fact is China has a policy which priorities ethnic minorities. For a long time, the ethnic minorities were allowed to have two children and the majority Han only allowed one. The minorities are allowed a lower score for university intakes. There are 39,000 mosque in China, and 2100 in the US. China has about 3 times more mosque per muslim than the US.
When terrorist attacks happened in Xinjiang, China had two choices:
      1. Re-educate the Uighur extremists before they turned terrorists.
      2. Let them be, after they launch attacks and killed innocent people, bomb their homes.
China chose 1 to solve problem from the root and not to do killing. How the US solve terrorism? Fire missiles from battleships, drop bombs from the sky.
During the pandemic, when China took extreme measures to lockdown the people, they were accused of being inhuman. When China recovered swiftly because of the extreme measures, they were accused of lying about the actual numbers. When China’s cases became so low that they could provide medical support to other countries, they were accused of politically motivated.
Western Media always have reasons to bash China.
Just like any country, there are irresponsible individuals from China which do bad and dirty things, but the China government overall has done very well. But I hear this comment over and over by people from the West: I like Chinese people, but the CCP is evil. What they really want is the Chinese to change the government, because the current one is too good.
Fortunately China is not a multi-party democratic country, otherwise the opposition party in China will be supported by notorious NGOs (Non-Government Organization) of the USA, like the NED (National Endowment for Democracy), to topple the ruling party. The US and the British couldn’t crack Mainland China, so they work on Hong Kong. Of all the ex-British colonial countries, only the Hong Kongers were offered BNOs by the British. Because the UK would like the Hong Kongers to think they are British citizens, not Chinese. A divide-and-conquer strategy, which they often used in Color Revolutions around the world.
They resort to low dirty tricks like detaining Huawei’s CFO & banning Huawei. They raised a silly trade war which benefits no one. Trade deficit always exist between a developing and a developed country. USA is like a luxury car seller who ask a farmer: why am I always buying your vegetables and you haven’t bought any of my cars?
When the Chinese were making socks for the world 30 years ago, the world let it be. But when Chinese started to make high technology products, like Huawei and DJI, it caused red-alert. Because when Western and Japanese products are equal to Chinese in technologies, they could never match the Chinese in prices. First world countries want China to continue in making socks. Instead of stepping up themselves, they want to pull China down.
The recent movement by the US against China has a very important background. When Libya, Iran, and China decided to ditch the US dollar in oil trades, Gaddafi’s was killed by the US, Iran was being sanctioned by the US, and now it’s China’s turn. The US has been printing money out of nothing. The only reason why the US Dollar is still widely accepted, is because it’s the only currency which oil is allowed to be traded with. The US has an agreement with Saudi that oil must be traded in US dollar ONLY. Without the petrol-dollar status, the US dollars will sink, and America will fall. Therefore anyone trying to disobey this order will be eliminated. China will soon use a gold-backed crypto-currency, the alarms in the White House go off like mad.
China’s achievement has been by hard work. Not by looting the world.
I have deep sympathy for China for all the suffering, but now I feel happy for them. China is not rising, they are going back to where they belong. Good luck China.”

Chinese Revolution is not for the faint heart soy boys and girls with weak stomach.
Because of the land reform, China is able to left 800 millions out of extreme poverty. It was a painful transformation from the old feudalism society to new era Socialist society with more equality.
The Constitution of PRC protect women right while the west is still fighting for women right.
No Chinese want to go through that painful transformation again, it was radical but necessary at the time of era.
All systems are part of human experiments and experience, so far no system is yet refined to flawless which is impossible. Human nature is not flawless, why do we expect a system to be flawless? The best we can do is to keep improving to best tangible outcome with short term, mid term and long term plan, which is exactly what the Chinese governments are working on.

For all of Mao’s and the CPC’s mistakes and excesses, China averaged a 3-4% GDP growth even through the cultural revolution. So the society was not going backwards or disintegrating.

The british didnt invade china, the number of men that were marching to the gates of the old city before the emperor catpitulated, before the treaty wasnt even a battalion.
We must not forget the 3000 years of invasion, war and conquering of the various tribes in what is called china today, and those of tribes not of china that have been swallowed up by their invasions.
If china was so anti imperial, and colonisation, one must ask why does it not give back lands like the colonialists, that it took from previous invasions..?

Funny thing is the perception of China is already engraved in the western people, even though they never step a foot on China. But thank you for Coleman to be the ignorant (I am sure he is not) and let) kenyu explain the Century of Humiliation (she could do better but being Chinese, she is too freaking polite.) 😅😅😅

Kudos to Keyu Jin, great insights, knowledge. Coleman lacks true understanding of the facts relating to China. Coleman should just visit China, understand the real China. I would recommend that he go to Xinjiang and speak to the people there, understand their lives and the aspirations of the Uighur people. He is so misinformed...

Yeah, he would only be allowed to go to Xijiang with a CCP-approved guided tour, North Korea style. They'll get the Uighers to do the cultural dances for him per the usual propaganda show LOL
