For me as a young man in the 80’s Soul Train was not just a smash hit dance show, it was a cultural lifestyle for me that reflected who we were and proud of it!
Lisa is still looking gorgeous after all of these years, and on top of that, found the time to bless us with 5 gorgeous daughters! 😉Thank you, Mrs. Lisa Mapps-Weldon!
I agree with Lisa, we do need to bring "Soul Train" back. It was the only thing that not only kept us safe, but it kept us at peace too. Anyone who experienced this show is blessed... it's a piece of history.
Yes and the music today would not help the show if they bought it back the older ones could not relate to the culture these days the music is horrible and so are some of the dancing so no it is history and that is where it should stay."
@@christopherredding5851 It's not that the music is bad and older people can't relate, it's the fact that young folks had their youth stripped from them at a very young age. They never had a chance to be "kids". There's no Saturday Morning Cartoons, no Movie Dates to the Malls, no "Puppy Love". Their trying to be adults before their ready and the majority were raised by the streets cause their parents aren't around, or trying to be like them, or working 3 jobs. If we still had Soul Train, these kids would experience the joys of life like we did. But if society doesn't change for the better, none of us will have those experiences back.
It won't be the same. Pretty sure they would be expecting to get paid. And they gonna want the best food. Definitely gonna have a lot of controversy around it.
Lisa Mapps-Weldon wasn’t on the show long but she was a fan favorite, especially with the guys. They always talk about her. She was one of my favorites because her hair was ALWAYS flawless and her clothes were awesome before and after Tamechi began styling her. 🤗💜💫✨
I'm a pale ass white guy from northern Scandinavia and I absolutely love Soul Train. Been watching it over 20 years, used to find astounding artists from that show. What a time to be alive in the 70s and 80s!
I remember her from The Scene!! My hubby was a camera man on that show at a young age. When I saw her on Soul Train I was so happy for her. Congratulations on all your success!
Freaky. From choosing to watch another Soul Train dancer video, I finally found out who made this beat that's been haunting my head for years - Ready for the world, My Girly. Now my head can rest. 😊
What was dope about Soul Train was. Dancers on the show came from all over the country. And me being raised in Detroit. It's cool to see the Detroit dancers on this show and the success that they've had due to both their talents and exposure from being on this show. I grew up watching this show going back to the early 70s, into the late 80s. Detroit has some of the finest women. I like these documentary biography shows that us a more personal background into the dancers' lives, beyond the dancing and how dancing took them places. And Lisa Mapps still looks good.
Yes my hometown Detroit produces a lot of talent singers and dancers, she danced on our local dance show The Scene just like Lorenzo and when they made it on Soul Train that was real good, big time. Still looks great today and always a star⭐
I love to see these stories about how you’ll lives turned out. I’m a Detroit girl as well eastside of Detroit ❤️ & we didn’t miss Soul Train & we definitely didn’t miss the Scene! Nate Morris! Girl you just brought back memories. I’m 55 now & I still love to dance. 😊
It's so cool to see these dancers I so remember from Soul Train. I remember Lisa quite well on the show and she did the damn thing. Happy to see she's still living her best life as a wife and mother.
I was raised in the Detroit area. I remember 'The Scene' during early 700s, well into the 1980s. Nat Morris hosted that show. If u recall. Nat Morris had Don Cornelius on the show during the early 70s. Detroit has always had talent coming out of the city. And even the women are fine. Shaun Robinson, Motown singers, Loretta Mckee and that very long list goes on. Lisa Mapps fine during her prime. And she's still fine. Almost forgot. There were a few Detroit dancers from 'The Scene' whom danced on 'Soul Train.'
I was watching old Survivor episodes and saw her daughter Lauren. Not knowing at the time who she was , but they look so much alike. What a coincidence that this video was posted today.
The Scene was the good old days I knew ppl that dance on there, I went 2 sch(Burroughs middle sch)with a young lady named Carmen who performed on there & this guy who I went 2 his prom actually worked on there.gosh I miss those days 💜 #memories
I was just born when she was on the show, so I don’t remember her! But I’m in awe of her beauty, grace, dance ability, and fashion sense. It’s funny how everything recycles because the way she dressed back then is how I dress now!
I see you “Rude girl” yeeeeah! I was a Rudeboy!!!! Hey I seen Terrell “Deisel” of Poplockin group “Unique Dominoes” I just met Marco recently here in Chicago such a nice guy. Man I seen her in all them videos! Two girls from my school/and Unique Dominoes was Poppin in Party train video!!
Wanted to give this video a THUMBS UP (Like) but noticed it was at 313 Likes, one of Detroit's Area Codes. My Hometown and now I know Lisa Mapps-Weldon shares the same hometown. Used to watch the Scene after school back in the day and Saturday's Soul Train, both great shows! (PS: Still gonna give the Like for the video btw, loved that it was at 313 when I viewed it. 🙂)
Lisa Mapps is an icon! This was a great one. Keep em coming. I wish Nat Morris would show the Scene on his channel instead of boxing and people we don’t recognize.
Hi, thank you Soul Train for these interviews, because, I love hearing the dancers' stories: How they began, what inspired them, how much they liked it, Thanks ❤
So cool to learn who the person behind the “Rude Girl” tee and white pants is! Every time I’d see the episode(s) she wore that outfit in, I’d tell myself that I need to find that tee to rock! I recently purchased a Prince Rude Boy pin to fill the void. 😄
Be realistic that's not gonna help them. We are living in the upside down civilization. No tv show is gonna help this generation. You will still have your smash and grabs. You still will have your homeless people.
I like her. I think Charles got a lady here that is intelligent, well rounded and a genuinely decent woman. From what i can gather here.
This is her friend Nikki…. Girl we had so much fun in our childhood! ST, Freak Patrol, Rude Girls we were definitely imaginative 🤣😂😆
This woman has been absolutely gorgeous her entire life ❤
For me as a young man in the 80’s Soul Train was not just a smash hit dance show, it was a cultural lifestyle for me that reflected who we were and proud of it!

No way…it’s different type of culture.
Good times! She's right, they should have something like this again. Glad she's doing well and has a beautiful family.
Won’t be the same these kids don’t dress they sag and they on their phones constantly dancing requires socializing these kids don’t have that
Did you see how fine (and natural) they looked back then?

A True Definition of Black doesn't Crack!!! OMG!! ❤
Dance is a excellent form of exercise and brings joy

I like her daughter's recreation of her on soul train ,
she has a beautiful family and she's a pretty lady.
Her daughter is beautiful, but not as much as her mom back in the day.😊
I'm a pale ass white guy from northern Scandinavia and I absolutely love Soul Train. Been watching it over 20 years, used to find astounding artists from that show. What a time to be alive in the 70s and 80s!

She’s had an incredible life! I would definitely read her memoir

This sista is still fine! frfr Glad to see that she was able to take advantage of the opportunity and exposure. God Bless
It no longer surprises me how so many of these former Soul Train dancers have aged so gracefully. My first thought was, "Damn, she look good!"
Great Story. Lisa, YOU should bring Soul Train Back. You appear to have the connects to do it!
I agree that if Soul Train were to be rebooted it would keep people safe and healthy. Dancing does a body good!
This show was the best! I'm so glad that Lisa had an amazing time and is doing great! She does have a beautiful family! 🎶☝️😅🎶

Lol Detroit girls and Sparkle. I was born in 89 and me and my sisters still LOVED that movie growing up.
Spotting Lisa on Soul Train, "Hey, that's The Scene dancer!" The camera loved her. Still beautiful 🎉🎉
Beautiful figure! And the double-wrap belt, which I used to wear in the '80s! Love the daughter recreating the dance moves.
Yes my hometown Detroit produces a lot of talent singers and dancers, she danced on our local dance show The Scene just like Lorenzo and when they made it on Soul Train that was real good, big time. Still looks great today and always a star⭐

I agree they need to bring it back but on the east coast, as NJ is really leading in dance culture for this generation.
Still such a beautiful lady ❤
